If the subject was not specific enough, this is a quest walkthrough for 'Out of the Depths' and 'A Question of Faith', a series of 2 quests regarding Oldtown Movopolis. If you would prefer to figure this out on your own, you have been warned. I submitted this info to the site for quest addition, but to cut delay and answer questions for people curious about new quests, here ya go.

...If you speak with the Tarutaru NPC outside the tavern in Port Bastok, she will tell you that Ayame is looking for adventurers to explore the new moblin settlement that has popped up in North Gustaburg...

"Out of the Depths"
Starting NPC: Ayame (Cannonry, Bastok Metalworks)
Ayame is looking for adventurers to investigate the moblins while military actions are being planned. After accepting the mission, she directs you to the Streaming Sheep in Port Bastok for further instructions.
Speak with Ranpi-Pappl outside the tavern for orders to 'investimigate' movopolis and 'aquiremirize' unusual moblin items. Proceed to Oldtown Movolopis (entrance in North Gustaburg, eastern area, just north of the hill and directly south of the Palbrough Mines entrance). Work your way to K-10 and speak with Brakobrik, who complains that fire is very dangerous in movopolis. Thus, he requests that you kill bombs to aquire pinches of hoardy bomb ask. 5 pinches is too many, but he'll take less.
The Ancient Bombs in oldtown movopolis drop this. You are assured at least 1 drop every kill. Go back to Brakobrik and trade the ash, either 1, 2, 3 or 4 at one to receive key items. Return to Ranpi-Pappl with these key items to receive rewards of 100-400 gil. Please note that you can only carry 1 of each of the 4 key items at once, or you will lose your bomb ashes in trading. Also, you may make multiple trips to trade ash and turn in key items for the same reward.
However, your quest is not finished. After trading sets of 4, 3, 2 and 1 pinches to Brakobrik, he still asks for more. Now, just trade him 1 pinch, and say that you do NOT understand what he is saying when he offers a reward. He will appologize to you, and give you a key iteam 'an old tametag'. Go back to Ranpi-Pappl with this item for a cutscene. You will be told to seek out Pavvke, likely a miner from Bastok.
Talk to Pavvke in Bastok Mines (I-7 on Ore Street) for a cutscene regarding the history of the moblins, and your final quest reward, 1200gil, and the title of "Trash Collector".

NOTES:
-This is not a low-level quest. Rough estimates on the levels of the bombs and surrounding moblins/goblins/bugbears is 30-40, likely aggroing up to ~lvl50. Everything in this zone links, also, so be careful. On the flip side, the music here is awesome and fighting with a few friends can be a lot of fun ^^
-This zone is popular farming grounds for higher-levels (it seems), as all the mobs drop misc things of value. You may have a hard time finding bombs to kill. A bomb pops in all 'cave' areas on a 12min timer.
-This is a large zone and you will very likely get lost without a map (obtainable by a treasure chest). To get to K-10 without a map... take the first right turn from the entrance, then from a large circular area with 4 exits head up the tall stairs and keep left from there. Note that the goblins/moblins past these stairs are of somewhat higher level. You can get past with invis if you need to.
-If you're that desperate for a map, killing moblins/goblins around the entrance can get you a chest key. The bombs also drop keys. However, with all the people farming, finding a chest can be very difficult.
-You will need a total of 11 pinches of ash to complete the quest. Killing a bomb will net you 1-3 pinches.
-Uncertain what, if any 'steal' items from the bombs are.
-You cannot purchase the ash from AH. You can, however, purchase from bazzars or trade people if needed. Also, you may sell any spare ash after you're finished to a vendor for ~100gil.

If you would like, go back and talk to Ayame to accept your next moblin quest.

"A Question of Faith"
Starting NPC: Ayame (Cannonry, Bastok Metalworks)
***Requires Completion of "Out of the Depths"***

Because of the items you dug up on your last quest, Ayame is curious about the religious affiliation of the Moblins. She sends you to Virnage (Inn, Bastok Mines, H-5) for a task he would like completed. After a cutscene, you receive a key item, and orders to find out if the moblins are followers of Altana. Go back to Oldtown Movopolis, and go back to the NPCs at K-10. This time talk to Rakorok. Immediatley upon speaking to him, he curses the name of the goddess and pops a bugbear NM 'Bugallug'. After defeating Bugallug, talk with Rakorok again for a cutscene. Return to Virnage for a cutscene and quest reward of 3000gil.

Notes:
-Be prepared to fight before you talk to the moblin NPC. The battle will start immediately.
-It is not yet certain whether multiple people can complete the quest at once, or if you must kill 1 NM trigger per person.
-Bugallug is an estimated lvl50-52 with job MNK/WAR (I got no exp from him at lvl68... he has guard and counter and will occasionally double attack), however he has very high hp, enhanced attack and good defense. Not to be taken lightly.
-Keep the NM as close to the moblin NPC as possible, or risk getting aggro or links/adds from the wandering moblins and goblins in this general area.
-No title is gained from this quest.
-Even though Virnage says that 'findings should be reported back to Ayame', there are no additional cutscenes regarding this quest.

Enjoy.

Just FYI, at level 50 the Ancient Bombs connect EP--. Haven't gone back since, but I'm pretty sure they're TW at 51 or 52 at the latest, since everything else in that area was TW.

Also FYI, if the price of Moblinweave Thread has not bottomed out on your server, Moblin Chapmen and Witchmen are your targets. They drop them frequently and are pretty easy for a level 50 to kill, so you'll see a lot of high level Japanese farmers targeting these two.

At 61, the only mob that i've found to be easy prey in Oldton was Goblin Freelance (red helmet and armor) and he spawns with like 3 buddies.

The Ancient Bombs aren't hard, however, watch out for Heat Wave. It might not seem to bad as it only gives you Burn effect. However, that burn is 9hp loss per tick and seems to take about 300-400 hp.

Very nice info. I was looking for the rest of this information. I traded all 4 times and could never get the lil Taru to say anything different. Nice job. ^^

Eh. I gave him 4 ashes, then 3, then 2, then 1. Each time saying No I dont want the reward but getting the 4 key items anyway. I remember talking to him before trading and said I didnt understand before I started trading him stuff(i think). Now when I try to trade 1 ash to him he wont give me the tag and advice on this?

I think you have to go back to Port Bastok, hand in the 4 key items, then go back to Oldton Movapolis and hand in the 1 ash to get the name tag. Good luck!

There is an additional quest:

Return to the Depths
Client:Ayame (Cannonry, Metalworks)
Summary:
You are to find the one who speaks both the common and the Moblin Language, and learn more about the city of Movalpolos.

Just got this quest, so I know nothing about it yet. I have hero fame. I went directly from talking with the Friar in Bastok Mines to Ayame.

In the topic "New NPC found. Help me figure him out.", the OP mentions a new NPC in Windurst who mentions knowing "the language", and needing a supplier. Try talking to him and see if you get anything.

Zoning back into Oldton Movoplolis I was given a new cutscene.

Two moblins arguing about who's fault it was that screwed up. Finally it mentions "Don't get him Bulbs of Misareaux garlic you said" and that they were heading to Jeuno and to blame it all on the adventurer (me!). I'm thinking this means I need to give someone some bulbs of Misareaux garlic.

I'll let you know if I find anything out and since we're currently in maintenence, I'll check out that NPC later.
