Open Firefox 1.0 and in the address bar type: about:config

1. Find browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs and double click on it so it = true
2. Find network.http.pipelining and double click on it so it = true
3. Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and change it from 4 to 100

What do these changes do?
1. Then enables advanced tab options in your Tools/Options page
2. This enables option #3.
3. This makes FF use 8 threads to each page.. Bascially, if you thought FF was fast before, try it after this.

Doesn't pipelining cause HTML rendering issues on slower connections?

Completely and utterly awesome. I can't give you an actual rate-up, but believe me, if I could, you'd get one. Thanks a ton. :3

Saw this posted in the Asylum a few weeks ago and did it, it really works great. I rated whoever it was who posted it (might have been the OP) up, but just in case another rate up is being made ^_^b

Much faster now, thanks bunches. Although, after reading the linked article, I have a question. When you read the directions on the site linked, it says:

    Quote:
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

I do not know alot about this sort of thing, but when I started scrolling down and reading the conversation about it, several people were afraid to set it at that high of a number. Some people set it at 8 instead (not sure why that number). Your directions have it at 100. Why? And is this really the best way to do it? Is 100 a problem? Anyone know? Thanks.

pretty sure a number such as 100 would only be a problem for dial-up users

i am on DSL (i know i know,, dsl...) and have no problems of any sort and pages load like sweet butter!
    #25 Sep 30 2005 at 10:25 PM Rating: Good

From what I understood from what they were saying, the number would be a problem for websites you are visiting, not for the person doing the visiting. I was just curious ;)
