To get from Batallia Downs you must first have went to Batallia Downs from that Glacier map. You can't come from jeuno to downs and then to galcier.

The entrances are in Batallia downs (several points) but there is one that you get to from Beaucedine Glacier and that means dropping south at H-12 on this map (where it says Batallia downs). When you come out - you're right by a mound which has a passage way through it and down into the Necropolis. This area is a good camp for lich hunting for papyrus.
Just thought I would post something to see if it helps anyone. Today I had to go to Fei'Yin for the first time, and even with a map it's hard.
Basically, with or without a map, keep going East. You'll want to go down any ramp you see and continue going down and east until you can't go anymore. When you're at the bottom and as far East as you can go, start to head North. It was horrible and confusing for me. The best way to tell you're on the bottom level is there are no cliffs and the area is flat. Difficult to see through weather effects on a PS2, but you should be able to see a flat plain with rock walls. Keep heading north. There should be Goblin Reapers and Poachers along this path and if the weather permits it, you'll run into a pond with two ice elementals around it. As a level 52 I was getting aggrod by Gobs so you may take invisible just to be safe. Zone for Fei'Yin is at J-4. I had to mark it and remark the way on my map.

i dont see whats so hard about getting the weather for the smn quest here...couldnt you just have a chocobo with you(warp or warp scroll if youre lazy) come in get the weather and go back to (G-6)(i believe) in la thiene and get smn?
Yes there is another way... after you get the telepoint crystal you can have a WHM42+ Teleport-Vahzl you to Xarcabard and then run to the Glacier.
Of course if you haven't gotten that telepoint crystal yet, then you'll be going through the Pass.
Since Ranguemont Pass is considered a 'Dungeon', no you cannot choco through there - not that you could get all the way through solo with a choco anyways... there is a door that you need to have an NPC unlock for you, and you would not be able to do that on a choco (since you can't really do much of anything on a choco except to /check, dig, or dismount).

For those who are looking for the map, follow the link: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?fquest=83 Get yourself some Derfland Humus and give it to the old guy in the garden. Keep in mind that it may take some fame to get this initiated but you'll get it with sub-avatar fame.
Hey all , just went here for the first time for a supply quest. The Cave from East Ronafue here is rough. You NEEd sneak and invis. And you cant invis and heal b/c the bats aggro. You take mostly rights, except at the room with the huge scorpion where you take a left. And then once you're in The Glacier, stay on the left wall. You should get there in a few minutes. I would stay invised and sneaked the whole way just to be safe. Good luck.
No, this would probably not be your best bet for exp partying if you're lvl 43. Reason is that 43 is the level where monsters here cap out, (bestiary is combining the levels of mobs here across every zone that they appear in). You'd be going after the top tier goblins and gigas in this zone, and they'd be Even Match and below for you.
If you're set on getting a party to this area to exp, however, you might have some luck in Fei'Yin, where shadows start at 43 and go to 46. Shadows link, unlike other undead, and you've gotta reach them using sneak since the entire zone aggros. They can be a nice break from the crab/beetle/mandragora rush we've all done for the last billion levels. After shadows, if you feel comfortable enough, you could try hitting the stairs to the lower level, usually you can camp near the top of them and pull Underworld Bats (lvl 50-52), but that's mainly if your damage dealers can handle not pulling aggro off the tank right before a Jet Stream.
Another option off this zone is Xarcabard, in which case you'd want to head right after you zone into the large open part of the zone to find the Gigas stomping grounds. They're roughly lvl 45-48, and if you want to you can drop the evil eyes in the same area and level range. If Gigas aren't great, you could try doing Demons in the NW of that area, they're 48-52. Demons are kinda fun if you have a Samurai along, as you can finally see what Warding Circle accomplishes.
Be advised though, talking someone out of doing safe exping in CN and heading to these places is going to be difficult at the least. The competition is virtually non-existant here, and the drops aren't bad at all, but they're harder to kill and you've gotta be playing like you're actually awake at the keyboard. Good luck with it, though, forming a group like this is a real good way to break up the monotony of levelling.
Can the lower level (44ish) Dark Elementals be found in this area? And if so, where? Also, what are they weak against, I'd assume light but you know what happens when you assume.

once you get into Ranguemont Pass, just work easterly. I kept heading that way and got into the glacier as it was dark. Once it turned to snow, I zoned back into the pass, and back to the glacier to get my effect. After that, all I had to do was use the scroll of warp I bought for 750 CP at my nations guard in Sandy (I'm from Bastok)
this really isnt as hard as every 1 makes it if u can buy oil, powder of have a whm come along. I was reading this while i was waiting for heat wave in valkurm b/c this was last weather i had to get. People acted like it was going to be really hard and i was nervous bout it.. Only aggro i got was be4 the gate which was no challenge(38WHM) then once i got thru gate i cast sneak and invisible. I looked at map on this site and memorized the turns and just went rite thru no trouble. got the weather, tele holla got the job then warped back to sandy. if u cant get a whm 2 help or buy andsilent oil or powder then u have to worry.. PS Im a WHM on Caitsith /tell Armann and ill help u thru it
i was running around last night, got bored so i decided to grab teleport crystals. i got yhoat but i never made it to vahzle, does anyone know the coords of it?
Good place to fish at for Icefish which are worth 445 gil for and the good thing is they stack so they are small fish also make sure your at least lvl 55-60 before u go there because u may catch something that will kill yo *** which happened to me at lvl 50 anyway i wouldnt recommend using a small rod use a large rod and a sabiki lure, small rod will break.
the outpost (guy standing next to a fallen tree) is in h-8 not h-9, at least thats the last position check returned before I had to warp out after getting agg'd by a tiger. If you want to do this (supply quest) easy, you need a few silent oils, prism powders and deodorizers.
When going through the tunnel before getting here I got agg'd by the floating eye who hit me with aereoga for like 140 hp. I'm a 35 mnk with 800 hp, got out of the tunnel with about 400 left.
I just did this supply quest from windy and the "outpost" is at H-9. Its just the guard standing by a dead tree but its near the 2nd tower you pass coming from Ranguemont
I did this recently for SMN quest. Check the wheater of Beacedine Glacier by the NPC by the AH in South Sandoria and just East of the Gate to N Sandoria for Snow. Buy Silent(Sneak?) Oil and Powder Prism for silent and invisible effect. Also set Home point in Sandoria or another place outside the Ranguemont Pass. Buy a instant warp from the gate guard that give you signet. Here is what I did I went to East Ronfare head all the way north east and enter Ranguemont Pass . Start heading North east when u get in the Pass. You soon get to the stone door where u need to talk to the NPC first to open the door. Right after when I enter the stone door I use Sneak (silent?) Oil and Powder prism. Agro mobs from this point are mix lev 30+ and lev 25 mobs. Follow map (which is keep heading NE )in that this web site have of the Pass. Print the map off this website if you need to. Keep checking your location with <pos> if u need to locate your self and corrilate it with the map. Once you cross though the map at the NE corner u should experience the wheater right away. Than use your handy Instant warp and warp back to town or what ever u choose. Hope this helps anyone that needed the help.

Ok, its been said that Ranguemont Pass is the only way to get into this area properly, and it cannot be used as a way to get out.. but, Where does Ranguemont Pass connect to this zone? May I get a map vector please?
Theres a quest in San'D'Oria's castle for a map of the northern regions, whatever that entails. You need relativly high SanD fame, and a piece of derfland humus (drops from doom scorpions in crawlers nest). I haven't done it yet so I'm not sure what the map is of, other then its north of SanD.
