Description

Constructed ten thousand years ago by the Zilart, as the "Gate of the Gods", this is said to be the very entrance to paradise itself. The Ru'Aun Gardens are an array of floating islands, worn by time and overgrown with moss, that surround The Shrine of Ru'Avitau and form a border between it and Ve'Lugannon Palace.

Points of Interest

  • Despot, Byakko, Seiryu, Genbu and Suzaku can be found here.
  • ZM14 - Ark Angels and ZM15 - The Sealed Shrine utilize this zone.
  • Green portals are used to warp from the Crag Halls of Transference directly to "Sky", on either side of the area where Despot is traditionally fought. Blue portals are activated by Pincerstones and provide access between the "elemental" islands. Yellow portals provide access to "Guardian" islands, where the "Shijin" are spawned, and cannot be used while the respective god is being fought. Red portals provide access to the "Ark Angel" islands.

Map

The Map of the Ru'Aun Gardens may be obtained via Ru'Aun Coffer.

Anyone know what you have to do to be able to teleport to Tu’Lia from the Hall of Transference in the Holla, Dem, and Mea spires?
Where are the coffers?

So I have my Coffer Key but where do you find the coffers? I found a map online that shows them on the lowest map...how do you get there?
What is this thing for?

Ok can someone tell me what the little blank icon behind the fallen pillar at Byakko's first set of stair cases is for? The <pos> on the map is F-6 or G-6 (hard to tell on that small of a map). I've asked people what its for and no one seems to know. I thought it was for ZM17 or something but it turns out that it's not seeing as I have already completed all the ZM missions now.
How do i get here?
# Feb 13 2006 at 12:37 AM Rating: Default
I know where the positions of the four gods are in this area, but I don't know how to get to them. Do I have to go through another area and zone back into their spawn locations like Simurgh? ( Where you have to go through Crawler's and then back out to spawn point.) Or do I have to use the teleporting devices or something of the sort in this area to get to the these god's location? I have been told I have to go through Ve'Lugannon Palace, but I'm not sure if that's true and I don't want to risk it if it's not. Thank you ^^

Genbu, Sukaku and Sieryu you just use the yellow teleporter to get there.

Byakko is a little more complecated, you have to enter Shrine of Ru'Avitau then zone back out before you can get to the teleporter.

WHY !!!
# Feb 05 2006 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
So I just did zm 12 and wanted to go to the sky and when I zoned in here all I got was a butt load of lagg..... So bad that u can think of lower Jeuno x 100 I would get a frame every 3 sacs. And when I zoned out to the hall of gods there was no lag at all. I have an ATI radian x600+ graphics card 72 GB of free memory and 1 GB of ram with a CPU speed at 2.6 GHz of speed and windows home addition 2003 so I don’t think that I have a problem with my comp

Got this from Killing Ifrit Forum.
Step 1) Go to my computer >> C >> program files >> Playonline >> Square Enix >> final fantasy XI >> sound2 >> win >> music >> data.

Step 2) find the file "music190.bwg" copy it

Step 3) rename "music190.bwg" to "music210.bwg"

Step 4) paste the copied file of "music190.bwg"

Step 5) right click and refresh

Worked like a dream. Thank Goodness!

Thanks a lot, i just reached sky yesterday and the game freezed everytime in Ru'aun gardens. It only worked with the music disabled.
Changed the name of the file and now i hear the music of the Sanctuary of Zi'tah but works perfectly ^^.

Edit: Now i found a solution to hear the real Ru'Aun Gardens music in a FF forum, you just need to get a mp3 file of Ru'Aun Gardens (got one named Tu'lia) and convert it to wav then convert the wav to bwg and name it music210.bwg, then place it in the folder posted above (thanks again Blackweed:).

You can use any mp3 converter but i found this one:
http://www.mp3fe.com/download/mp32wav.zip
To convert to bwg format there's a program named XiMC (it's in japanese but easy to handle). You can find it here:
http://www.lowfyr.com/downloads/ffxi/Ximc004.zip

I hope it helps anyone that had this problem (and went depressed when visited sky for the first time ^^)

Same thing just happened to me. I have run full 1600x1280 resolution with all effects on in every other area. But in sky, I zone in from Hall of Gods and I immediately begin lagging out, I have to hold backward just to get back to the zone. My video card is a Radeon 9800 pro with 1.5 gigs of Ram and a 3.2 AMD chip. I went as far as deleting and reinstalling FFXI and it still freezes up, even at low resolution. I'm going to contact tech support and will post my resolution if and when I get one. =(

That is because you were walking by Groundskeepers near blue-glowing walls. THOSE aggro. As long as you stay as far away from those as you can, you won't get aggro by ANYTHING in Ru'Aun Gardens as long as you avoid casting spells. If you cast anything near pots and those dolls, it will get you dead, fast.

Ok, just some questions about this area, I know nothing about it except some weird stuff I don't understand.
A) How do you get here? Do you need to do a bunch of questy stuff?
B) WHAT is this place? Whenever I ask where or what, they just reply [sky]. What's that mean? I mean obviously its in the sky... but, how?
C) Does this thing have any connection to Ru'Lude Gardens?

A) You have to complete Zilart Missions (need rank 6, then zone into norg for Z-1) 1-12 to get Sky access. Z-13 is the last cs before u can run around in Ru'Aun.
B) This place is where all or most of the HNMLS go kill Gods like Kirin, Genbu..etc Or you can exp here, other then that i didnt really read the cut scene.
C) No connection to Ru'Lude.

p.s. to get here you go Sauromugue Champaign ->
Meriphataud Mountains -> Sanctuary of Zi'tah -> Ro'Maeve -> Hall of the Gods -> Ru'Aun Gardens.

edit for additional info and a spelling mistake >.>

So it seems like when you enter Ru'Ann gardens, you can't exit the same way you came from. What gives?

This really sucks when you go on your own without a warp scroll. Does anyone have any ideas how to get out without having a friend to come fetch you that could either warp you or tele you out?

(I'm asking this on behalf of my friend who happens to be stuck there right now...)

You CAN exit the same way you come in, through Hall of the Gods. You just have to take one of the purple teleporters back to the entrance island (where the nation flag is). Then just zone back into Hall of the Gods at the same spot you came into Ru'Aun Gardens.

Map is in coffer chest. Coffer keys drop fairly freely from flamingo's at the entrance of the gradens, usually kill a few whilst waiting for ls to arrive, EM mobs to a 74, get maybe 1 key in 6-7 fights without a THF.

Edit: Map list FYI.
ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=391

I'll add the link to the coffer spawns when I get home - slacking off at work at the mo :D. There are two each god island, with two either side of the zone after the corridor bit where Despot spawns (bad explanation I know >.<)

Can someone tell me how to get into sky? Like what you have to do to get access
zm8
# Jan 27 2005 at 5:24 AM Rating: Decent
ok i recently got sky access. i have to say that zm4 was the hardest only because it was hard to get to. the group i had for zm8 was, as a fellow LS member put it, stacked. TO be honest i was worried at the start simply because we had no whm. it was 73 rdm(taru) 72 pld 74 blm 74 mnk 74 blm and me(66drk)
it was actually a pretty easy fight, 5 minutes, only one death, and that was rdm
convert, cure 4, pld covers, doesnt last, kalnut fires off light blade KOs rdm, kalnut dies. Overall everyone in teh group did a remarkable job and they were nice enough to let me come along at 66(they just wanted to see me get my spin on with my GS =) )

You can pick up all three for around 5k-20k. I believe the East Wind is a little more rare than the others. Anyway they're not worth much. Good only for two things: Debuffing gods, and Rangers with Unlimited Shot for instant damage.

The good news is that the majority of the Zilart 'Missions' are cutscenes. The first three are Enter Norg, Talk to Gilgamesh and Travel to Kazham. ^^;

There are only 6 quests that involve any significant amount of fighting (the remainder are sneaking around areas like Hall of The Gods and the like). You need to complete the first 5 for access to Tu'Lia, but even then nobody goes there for XP gain until at least 65-66. You have time before then. ^^;
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 29 2004 at 2:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the bad news is, you wont get invites for zilart missions until level 70+, at least some of the later ones, and you wont go there for XP 'til late 70's.
RE: sux
# Sep 19 2004 at 3:11 AM Rating: Decent
You can fine complete Zilart missions 1-13 at 60+.
Im 68 and have Tu'lia access.

For exp you can go there at 67.

Kirin...
# Jun 14 2004 at 6:53 AM Rating: Decent
a friend of me that killed Kirin already, told me that it needs 36 lv 75 people to take it down. although, jobs like DRG, DRK or SAM can`t really do any damage to it because its so ****** hard to hit. the 3 Jobs that deal awesome damage in that fight are of course BLMs, RNGs (because they have the accuracy to hit it) and MNKs. MNKs dont really attack kirin, they just get themself the best +MND equipment they can get (which makes Chi blast stronger) and boost they attack to maximum, only to unleash one hell of a chi blast to deal massive dmg to kirin. I guess you need 36 people to replace a mage thats out of MP or a dead melee fighter. Maybe i fight it someday as well lol.
Not too hard to get here
# Jun 03 2004 at 9:43 PM Rating: Good
The ZMs are pretty tough if not everyone is max level and it's your first time going through. It was a hell of a journey for my linkshell (all US players, started on US retail release) pre-75 and we finally got to Tu'Lia around the middle of March 2004 and completed the rest of the ZMs at the end of April.

The sad thing is that the ZMs become easy once you know what you're going up against and you're completing them for other people. All I can suggest is that you get a PT of friends together who haven't done the missions yet and start fresh for a more challenging experience and to feel like you've accomplished something :P

Anyway, here's a little information that I haven't seen posted here yet:

- If you see Light weather in Tu'Lia, don't go anywhere near the groundskeepers inside the alcoves unless you're invisible, because during this type of weather their sight range is drastically increased. Don't worry too much though, as I've only seen light weather once in all the time I've spent up in the sky.

- Kirin took around 2 alliances for us to beat, with the fight lasting 5+ hours total. At the start of the fight, one alliance kited Kirin around and didn't try to do any damage to him until he was finished summoning all the gods (he summons one about every 5 minutes). These gods are a much weaker version of the ones you can pop in Ru'Aun Gardens, and taking these summoned gods out was what the other alliance was for.

Once Kirin summoned all four gods, he doesn't summon again so this is when the real fight began. Once mages ran out of mana, and monks used their chi blast, those mages and monks would be switched out with other mages and monks. Also, anyone (meaning people not kiting Kirin) with a sam sub would be kicked out until they got 300% TP, then they would be re-added to do a Spirits Within, then kicked back out until they regained 300% TP with meditate.

The fight was long... too long... but when it was over Kirin dropped a shining cloth and a mnk/sam/nin body abjuration (dryadic abjuration: body). Was hoping the Osode would drop... but I probably would have lost on it anyway :P
Connectivity
# May 29 2004 at 10:58 AM Rating: Excellent
Another common question:

What maps connect to what?
Ru'Ann Gardens I can CONFIRM connects to La'Hoff Amphitheater, on top of Ve'Lugganon and Ru'Avitu.

How do you aquire map?
Coffer.Only. x.x;;

How hard are the mobs there?
Not bad. Few of my friends 66-70 took some pots and golems down easy, even with a gimped PT (most of us subbed BLM for warp)

Is there an outpost there?
No. Only a flag to represent the country in control. You will understand why if you follow the story (which OWNZ)

Is there ANY way to reach Tu'Lia besides completing Zilart mission 13:
No. Hell No. Dont waste your time traveling through Ro'Meave.

Have you seen the NM's for Kirin yet, or Kirin himself for that matter? o.0
No. But later on I sure as hell intend to ^^

Any other questions you may want answered just ask or email me @Silvernightmarex7@yahoo.com

What is in Tu'Lia
# May 29 2004 at 10:52 AM Rating: Excellent
First off, it is beautiful. Best zone you will have seen since Zi'tah. Now to answer some common questions.

Do Mobs aggro in Ru'Ann Gardens?

Yes. But will you need stealth spells, no. Normal Groundskeepers do not aggro. However you will notice some that are implanted into the walls (with a blue aura) THESE AGGRO. However, you can stay out of range by simply by keeping or the far side from them (or walking right in the middle when they are facing eachother in hallways)
How to access Tu'Lia
# May 29 2004 at 10:47 AM Rating: Excellent
I have accessed this zone, and I will answer as many questions as possible.

How to access Tu'Lia:
Accessing Tu'Lia (Ru'Ann Gardens) requires completing the first 13 missions of the JPN expansion 'Rise of the Zilart'. You can only begin these quests when your Country Rank is 6 or better. My party was all 70 with a 66 RDM and I will say it was a HELL OF A HARD fight to get past one certain mission. A lot of Zilart Mission 8 is pure luck. No REAL guide is written for it (although I plan to), and it is not something to be done easily. These missions, for the most part, are NOT your wimpy regular missions for your country. Once you hit ZM8 you need to have Raise 3 ready and be ready to raise mid fight cause most of the times someone WILL die.
Hardest?
# Apr 02 2004 at 1:37 PM Rating: Decent
From what I have heard, it takes about 50-75, level 75 players to take on Kirin (I'd assume it's a little less than that for the other beasts). He is capable of summoning the four other God beasts to fight with him (and will do it too). I've never heard people needing that much for anyone else. But what do you expect? The equipment he drops is, hands down, the best in the game. For the classes that can qeuip it at least.

In Japanese mythology, Byakko, Genbu, Suzaku, and Seiryu are the 4 gods controlling the seasons and the weather. They're referenced in lots of anime(most notably Yu Yu Hakusho). They're also used I think for good luck(see another anime, Mahou Shoutengai Abenobashi(magical shopping district abenobashi) for details -- they have a mini statue of each God in the 4 corners of the shoutengai -- not surprisingly at all, these directions match with the directions here).

So maybe this was a bit rambling, but it's 4:00 am. ^^;

Japanese name (chinese name)
Reprisentation as best translated (other possable translation from the chinese)

Genbu (Xuanwu)
Black Tortoise, north, water

Byakko (Baihu)
White tiger, west, wind

Seiryu (Qinglong)
Blue (Azure) Dragon, east, earth

Suzaku (Zhu Que)
red (vermilion) phoenix, south, fire

It is no more "stolen" from the chinese than the roman pantheon is "stolen" from greece (jupiter = zeus).
