Description

This amphitheater-like area is comprised of a series of levels leading up to the top, where one can enter the Hall of the Gods. The high walls made of a bone-like material make for a labyrinthine atmosphere, where dangerous beasts can lurk behind the next turn. When the full moon is unclouded, architecture in this area seems to activate, giving off an eerie ambience. Caution is suggested when traversing this dangerous area.

Hey, I was just wondering how one could pass over that lowered bridge? I hear it rises at 0:00 but I went there twice at said time and it never budged... Does it have to be in a specific moon phase? or is 0:00 real life time instead of Vanadiel time? Thanks for your help! ^^

yes, it must be full moon 0:00-3:00 for you to be able to cross (in game that is).

Ive always wondered what would happen if you stayed on the middle point past 3...

You would most likely be thrown to one side or the other, just like the bride at bas' when the bridge has to raise to let the airship by.

What really sucks is when you get past the first bridge in time, but the second one goes down, leaving you trapped on the steps with the only way out being warp/tele/death.

Actually no all you have to is go back to the brige and walk over it like normal there is an invisible floor but you cant get back once you go over. and if you do stand on the middle all that is there is an invisible floor i did it once.

This is an outdoor area, not a dungeon.

Edit: When I think about it, Ro'Maeve has the properties of a town: you can't chocobo into it, you can't escape out of it, though you can use mazurka. Of course calling it a town would be misleading, and calling it a dungeon might lead people to believe you can escape out in a bad situation. Outdoor area is probably the best choice, so I stand by it.

Eh, that's kind of iffy. I think it is considered a dungeon, since you can't chocobo into it. Just because it is open-sky doesn't make it outdoors (Giddeus, Ghelsba, Bedeaux, Davoi, and Castle Oztroja all are open to the sky, but are still dungeons)
RE: Correction
# Dec 22 2004 at 10:56 AM Rating: Decent
It's outdoors. just check the battle theme.

But really, have you ever been in that place? I don't BLAME the chocobo for not wanting to go in there :P

I'd also say this is an outdoor area, not a dungeon, for the fact that you can't Escape out of it.

Altho you can't use chocobo mazurka in it, so that'd make it a dungeon.

I've been here twice, both on full moons.

First time, I just wanted to see Hall of the Gods (after getting my full AF set). I arrived a little early, so I skilled-up on Weapons waiting for 0:00. I had brought a stack of prisms and oils; however, I didn't need them. After the platforms rose, I cast Sneak/Invis at the Ro'Maeve entrance and ran straight forward. It's a surprisingly short trip.

Checked out the Hall (the statues of Altana and Promathia are pretty cool, wonder if there's a reason why Altana's is over the gate to Tu'Lia and Promathia's is over the gate to Vana'Diel.)

Second time I came to Ro'Maeve was to get the ??? ????ed mother-????-ing Star Seeker ????? to STFU! (That doll is the MOST ANNOYING key item ever!). Once again, waited for the bridge to open, cast sneak/invis (still had a stack of each oils/prims) made it easily to the Spring.

For the hell of it, I decided to check out the Moon Gate. There were two parties XPing behind the western gate. I really didn't expect to find the ???, but I thought WTH I'm here. After checking the top rooms w/out a ??? I deabated on leaving (nearly fell off the one ledge outside the gate). But, decided to check the bottom rooms. I was fortunate to find the ??? in an empty room on the bottom. Got in a corner and Warped my way outta there!

I've heard a lot of misinformation regarding getting the moon pass from many people (not necessary even on this forum). I've posted this comment to detail my experience with getting it. I hope it will increase your chances of getting the pass and decrease your chances of death.

Myth: The ??? spawn-point only spawns during the Full Moon. This is a myth, the ??? spawn-points spawn during any and all moon-phases. I got mine during the New Moon.

Myth: The ??? spawn-point only spawns in "safe rooms." This is a myth, I found it on the ground, on the lower-level open area.

Myth: The "safe rooms" are safe. This is a myth, they are not really 100% safe. I died while casting up against the back wall. However, these "safe rooms," at the very least are free from monster-spawns. If you absolutely must cast in one of these rooms, do it against the back wall _and_ in the most distant corner that is the farthest away from an adjacent room with a monster. These monsters can aggro through walls and have a very wide magic-aggro radius.

Myth: You'll only need a stack each of sneak oil and prism power. This is a myth, it took me four full stacks of each before I found the ???. Buy a whole lot of them and just sell back what you didn't end up using. I stress this even more if you're not a mage.

Myth: Just camp a "safe room," and a spawn-point will eventually spawn there. This is highly inadvisable. The shorter you can make your stay in moon the safer you'll be. Also, there exist no known maps of the spawn points so you might just end up "shooting blanks." Your best bet is to continually search the area, moving in and out of "safe rooms" as you need to reapply sneak and invisible. The safe rooms are all within a short distance of your search area, so you should have enough time to get back to one if your buffs start to wear. Remember where the closest "safe room" is at all times, and mark them on your map.

Miscellaneous tips:

  • Don't forget to get a warp scroll/stave/cudgel if you don't have Warp. It's highly unlikely you're going to be even remotely close to motivated to walk back out the way you came in
  • Consider buying one or more reraise potions. If you die, it's probably not going to be easy getting in again and any WHM you ask to come raise you is going to be very extremely reluctant
  • Be extremely attentive and careful. You're dealing with monsters that are IT to a level 75. Know very well which mobs aggro to what. Weapons=sound/magic, Golems=sight/magic, Dolls=magic, Pots=magic.
  • If you're a mage, don't bother with any buffs; They're not going to help you and the less magic you cast the safer you'll be. If you get aggro you're chance of death is _extremely_ high even with, say, manafont+warp or chainspell+warp.
  • [li]There are only three ways into moon. You either have a moon pass yourself, someone who has a moon pass lets you in, or you enter when the moongate is down during Full Moon (not New Moon) 0:00-3:00.

    Got a moongate pass today.

I logged in on Sunday at around half past noon, and noticed it was full moon 100%, game time 17:30. Grabbed my silent oil and warped to mea. Choco was expensive, about 1200, but rented it anyway and made it to Ro'Maeve. When I reached the moongate (the right one) the clock had just ticked over to 0:00 and the gate was open! I ran in and started looking. I thought there would be more competition, but a /sea found only one other person, and their search comment indicated they already had a pass. Searched around past the right moongate and was unable to find a ???, so I found an empty room with a magic pot and logged to POL for a few. When I came back there was NO ONE else in Ro'Maeve, and the ??? had respawned in the little room across the way. Clicked it and got my Moongate Pass: Key Item ^.^ After that I just used my Instant Warp scroll and was all done! I think I used about 6 silent oils and 4 prism powders. Not bad for being able to say (at level 58 rank 6 no less) (|moon|) = O in my search comment.

Note: I've been to Ro'Maeve and Hall of the Gods before (for fun). Music in Ro'Maeve is cool. Oh and by all means follow the instructions linked to mysterytour above, they're pretty good (although a ??? spawn map wouldve been nice...).

Haha, this place was great! I choco'd through The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, without a map. It was really easy, though. Head NW and stick to the left wall...

Anyways, I finally found here. I knew I needed Silent Pots for the Weapons, and I had my NIN subbed, so I was going to use Tonko for sight, as I wasn't sure of the aggro, only knew that Golems aggroed on sight. Well...I had forgot my Ninjitsu tools, so I was scared, not sure if the Dolls were sound or sight. Luckily, I made it with only 2 silent pots, and the dolls were sound. It was fun. My first one ran out in the middle of a bunch of weapons. I just stood still, and used another one. Then I made it into the Hall of the Gods! That was a great experience in itself...Then I was just going to Bloodwarp(had enough exp with my THF, so why not?). Anyways, I went outside, avoided sound aggro(Had no equipment on), used Sneak Attack, and tried to SA punch a Doll...did 0 damage...it was funny. It turned around and slapped me twice, killing me.

All in all, it was a great experience...

Just to let you know... the golems don't aggro by sight, they aggro by magic. Only need sneak (item based) to get through. I did it a few days ago for kicks. Dolls didn't look at me once ^^.

In this person's defense, SE has totally screwed up he whole Golem / Doll naming system.

There are many mobs (most recognizeably in sky) that looks like the "golem" type mobs , but have names like "Aura Statue", where MANY of the "doll" type mobs (aka Groundkeeper type) already have names like "Living Statue", "Guardian Statue" etc.

    Hence the confusion.

I have run into issues with this type f misunderstanding many times beore, and wish SE would alter the names to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future.

    Wrong.

Golems DO aggro by sight as well as magic. Magic pots and Magic Dolls, however, only aggro by magic.

I just had a fun experience in the region of Li'Telor, with quite a funny happening in Ro'Maeve, and a surreal experience in the Hall of the Gods. It went like this:

Well, one night I decided to check out the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah because I heard it was a beautiful zone with great music. So, I go chocobo there, and they weren't joking -- it was beautiful. The music was good too. ^^ Then, I looked on the map and sure enough there was a zone called "Ro'Maeve" just north of where I was. I think "Hey, I'll go check that place out as well." So, I continue into the zone with my chocobo and I zone back because my chocobo doesn't want to go into that zone ! Uh oh, that means I have Sneak/Invis myself. I promptly get off my chocobo and zone into Ro'Maeve. It's a chalky-white, bone-like structure with a couple Killing Weapons in front of me. They weren't close enough for aggro, so I slapped on Sneak knowing they detect to sound, but forgetting they detect to magic also. The second I issued the Sneak command, the closest one turned around and ran towards me. I quickly turned back and zoned back to Zi'Tah. When I appeared I only had 31 HP left ( I started with 362 ). He must've hit me for 330+ dmg when I was zoning. So, wow, I knew I was in for a bit of fun. I Cure III'd myself and put on Regen ( even though I knew it wouldn't really do anything if I had got hit again ). I zoned back into Ro'Maeve and the Weapon was further out. I stood exactly where I zoned, not moving, for about 2 minutes waiting for him to walk far enough away so I could run down the right wall and past him and his [further down] buddy. Just as I was about to move, a PLD75/WAR37 zoned right beside me. He put on Sneak, and since he was doing so, I thought I had time so as well. Sure enough, Sneak went through without magic detect. I asked him if he could take me to the Hall of the Gods... he did a /shocked and said "Ok". Then, we were off. Passing countless numbers of Weapons, and meeting up with a few Cursed Puppets. About 40 seconds in, his Sneak wore off. So we found a -- rare -- safe spot and he re-cast... mine was still doing fine. We ran down a few corridors and we met with more Weapons and more Puppets ( they look like BIG robots ). We passed a Magic Flagon ( not sure of the name... could be wrong... it was a Magic Pot ) and I checked here... Lv70. Great. -_- Anyways, just soon after that, we got into an open courtyard with a targetable Spring point in it. He pointed up a set of a stairs. Gave him a /bow and I ran up. Just like all the screenshots and stories I have seen/heard, Hall of the Gods was beautiful. When you first zone it's this very long hallway up about 4-6 sets of stairs. Once you enter the main "room", that's when everything gets pretty. It was great to explore a place without being worried about aggro or getting your lights knocked out. The place is basically just a long bridge over water with light shining down on you and LOTS of statues. It evetually leads you to a targetable Grate. Once you've done enough missions, you're able to trade an item to it ( or something... ) and head on through to Tu'Lia ( the region with the La'Loff Amphitheatre... home of the Crystal Warriors ). An RDM in AF, Lv74 MNK, and Lv73 BLM did this as I was standing there in awe. Just above that was the large statue of Altana. Since the whole zone was rather simplistic ( but still very beautiful ), I turned around and was about to use my Scroll of Instant Warp when I noticed something... Promathia. The God was standing there in all his -- chained -- glory ( get it? Chains of Promathia? ). Snapped a few pics with him and headed into my Items list for my Warp Scroll when this idea popped into my head. Since I was going to be heading back to Yhoater anyways so I could get my RDM back to 30 ( de-lvl from Eco -_- ), why not challenge a Cursed Puppet to a little fight? I asked my LS and they said go for it. Sure enough, I zoned back to Ro'Maeve, and 5 were standing in front of me in the courtyard. I activated Chainspell, and cast Thunder on one of them. He turned around and hit me for 320. Ouch. 32 HP left. My Thunder did 31 dmg to him, and not even a pixel of health gone. Before I could hit my Thunder macro again he hit me once more for 426. Yep, I was dead within seconds. Told the LS, and ghetto warped back to Windurst. What an experience.

The moral of this story: Don't get adventurous in the region of Li'Telor, want to fight a mob that is 30+ levels higher than you, and expect to live.

    - Epical from Diabolos ^^

I saw lvl 70-73 ppl lvling here as i was going into the hall of the gods. The weapons and the robots all aggro to magic so if you use sneak and try to make it to the hall the odds of surviving are against you, its best to pick up some silent oils before you go
