Description

The Chateau provides the living quarters for the Royal d'Oraguille family, as well as the Royal Knights and Temple Knights, who protect the monarchy at all costs. An audience chamber and a separate garden are also a part of the estate, and admittance of commoners is strictly limited. Beneath the Chateau is Bostaunieux Oubliette prison, a severe punishment in the old days for anyone who broke the law, though it is not currently used.

Points of Interest

  • To the west of the great hall are the quarters of the Royal Knights, while those of the Temple Knights sit to the east of the great hall.
  • The entrance to Bostaunieux Oubliette can be found by continuing past the entrance to the Temple Knights' quarters, to the right, and down a narrow stone stairwell.
  • The NPCs involved in certain artifact armor quests for DRG, WHM, RDM, and PLD can be found here.
  • The quest for the map of the Northlands can be started here. (See Her Majesty's Garden)
  • Curilla, already involved in the quests to obtain AF for RDM and PLD armor, also initiates the Swords Weaponskill quest, Old Wounds.

Map

The Map of the San d'Oria area can be purchased for 200 gil from NPCs in several cities.''

Baraka/Helaku

Baraka is not listed on Allakhazam but she is in the Consul building at K-10 (same building as Helaku).
However, when I talked to Baraka, she just said "Welcome to the Consulate of Bastok."
When I talked to Helaku she just said "I'm Consul Helaku. Didn't you bring a letter to the consuls? Oh well. Just take a look around then. Might as well enjoy the place while you're here."

I'm currently working on the Wading Beast mission. Isn't that mission 2-3?

You need to have high fame from quests and high rank from missions but im not too sure if it matters about rank tho :S

Fame Levels and Rank levels are different...

Your fame is increased by doing quests, and your Rank is incresed by doing missions.... Your rank has nothing to do with Fame in any way.

In my old and new server i was rank 2 when i went in. With my old char. I talked to the guy and got the quest for the beast blood. But i guess i got it because of doing a lot of repeatable quests.. so i guess i had a pretty good amount of fame.So my advise is do a lot of quests then talk to him if u have enough fame *boom* the quest is yours..

I got in here with Rank 2, I was on teh first mission after obtaining Rank 2, so no, you don't need to be on Mission 2-3! You just need a high enough fame!

I'm trying to do "The Rumor" Quest, where you get the drain scroll. I read in the guide that you have to talk to the guy in the dungeon. I did that, nothing happened. I don't even see the quest listed on this website. Did SE do away w/ it. I mean, a vial of beastman for blood for a drain scroll, that's ridiculous. I just looked and drain scrolls are selling for 25k on Asura.
I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

You can get it at fame lvl 3. I had gotten it having lvl 6 fame. The beastman blood on the bahamut server is only 4-5k so it was a really easy quest.

Just to clear this up, since this had me holding off my Rank 3+ missions for a while:

If you're not San d'Orian, you can get in to Chateau d'Oraguille once you've started Mission 2-3 and then thereafter. (I was quite worried about not being able to get Drain if I didn't do it while Mission 2-3 was open, based on other postings here.)

Rank definately has something to do with it as you can't enter as a Windurstian citizen without at least having started your rank 3 mission. I had fame of 2 in San d'Oria but hadn't started the mission and they wouldn't let me in, I went back started the mission and Ta Da they let me in with my fame still same at 2.
My understanding

I've been trying to gain access to this to do the quest for the Drain scroll...

It is my understanding that you must be on Missions 6, for Rank 3, and talk to the chancelor or whatever for the mission first and then you will be granted access.

I will try tonight when I get home :)

San d'Orians can get in once they obtain rank 2. But for outsiders (ie Bastokians) you must either have rank 6 in your own country or you must be on a mission that allows access to it. I think.

If you are one the Mission,The Three Kingdoms, you can gain entrance if you are Windurstian or Bastokan.

Yes if you are windy then you need to be doing Mission 2-3 The The Three Kindoms - since the Mission REQUIRES you to go to an NPC named Halver in the Chataeu. YOU DONT need to be rank 6 to get into the Chateau if you are not SANDORIAN - think about it - a low level spell and you gotta be rank 6 which requires a much higher level. DUH!!!

Heh. There are lots of situations like this in the game. Case in point: Carbuncle Mittens. They are a Lv.20 item, but you need a party of Lv.75's to defeat the NM that drops them.

Back on topic: you do not need Rank 6 to enter the Chateau.

You have to be at least rank two, and you enter off the north end of the parade grounds in North San'Doria.
