Description

Attohwa, meaning "arid" in ancient Mithran, is the name given to the chasm that traverses the eastern part of Aragoneu. As the name suggests, very little rain falls here, resulting in a parched, broken land where poisonous gases erupt from cracks in the earth.

However, many unique forms of life have adapted to this harsh environment, ranging from the ant lions that forage for prey hiding under the ground, to the beautiful but deadly gasponia flowers that feed on the noxious fumes.

Until recently, several forbidding cliffs had to be scaled in order to reach Attohwa Chasm, but due to the discovery of an underground route by a mountaineer, it is now possible for adventurers to travel to this inhospitable area with relative ease.

According to Mithran folklore, the mountaineer who discovered this route went in search of Parradamo Tor, a hill said to be found somewhere beyond the chasm, and was never heard from again...

Points of Interest

  • At the top of Parradamo Tor lies the Cradle of Rebirth, which must be reached within a specific time limit for a Chains of Promathia mission.
  • The Iolite, which is needed for The Gobbiebag Part VI quest, can only be found from Corse mobs in this chasm.
  • The central area of the chasm is made up of a maze of rock, with certain paths blocked by emissions of black gas.

Map

The Map of Attohwa Chasm is obtained by completing the quest One Good Deed?.

I don't think this is correct. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm saying Alla is- I checked the quest, and indeed it says the reward for completing it is a map of Attohwa Chasm.

I've *never* done that quest, nor have I ever been to Boneyard Gully, yet I have a map of Attohwa Chasm. It's fairly complex, and I'm pretty sure I would remember! Oh, and I checked my quest log :P

Anyhow, I believe the map is sold by the map-seller in Mhaura. And I believe the correct reward for "One Good Deed?" is map of Bibiki Bay- can anyone confirm this?

I haven't got this map and I can't buy this map at the map seller in Mhaura.I also haven't done "One good deed" but I've got the map from Bibiki bay.
I'm going (to try) to do the quest now and post what I got from it here.

Parradamo Tor
# May 09 2005 at 7:26 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok, so I was rather annoyed at the lack of any good information on climbing Parradamo Tor
(which I've renamed 'Satan's Mountain') except for some vague info like "enter southeast, go
counterclockwise until you go clockwise". So after 2 hours of frustration, here's Haud's
"Hitchhiker's Guide to the Chasm"

First off, head to (K-9). You will be on the easternmost side of the mountain, almost at the lower corner. You'll come to a point wher there
will be a ramp on either side of you, if you
are facing the mountain. Take the left one, heading South. Proceed up a few steps and you'll
reach a fork. Head to the right (North). You should be heading upwards now. Next, you'll hit
another fork, on one side (left) is a crak in the wall, the other is a path. Head to the
left (South, towards the crack). Proceed a bit further and you'll come to another split.
Head north, taking the path heading upwards. At the next intersection, keep straight
continuing North. You'll reach a spout, but it'll go down in a few seconds. Continue ahead,
walking over the giant bone, still moving Northwards.

Now, you'll come to a dark black spout. This will not die down. At this point, fall off to
the side (East). You'll then land on a platform directly below. Head North a bit, and you'll
see this walkway ends quickly. Fall down, heading North still, however, and not fall to the right (east) like you did before.

If you did this all right, you should be heading upwards and North. YOu'll soon hit another
intersection, but ignore it; head North still. You'll quickly hit another spout, and this
one will not die either. So, you guessed it, fall down to the right (east) again. Don't fall
too far. You want to fall on the platform DIRECTLY below, and not all the way down. If you
did it right, you'll be facing north where th ewalkway continues, and right behind you, the
platform will end. Continue North.

After you turn a corner, you'll see this massive bone heading upwards. To your left, you
should see that the platform begins to rise. Take it upwards and move towards the bone. IF
you don't go upwards, the platform will soon end, and you'll have nowhere to go, but down.
Bad. Climb the bone, continuing upwards. At the top of the spiny bone thing, continue West
now, moving upwards. You'll hit another intersection, but keep West. The platform will end, and you'll see the top. Too bad you can't get there yet ;-). Fall down to the platform,
heading West. Make sure to fall at the END of the platform. If you did it right, a rock
should be BEHIND you, not in front. If not, start over ^^. Head West. You'll encounter
another spout, but it will disappear soon.

Once again, you'll see the top, but you still can't get there. Fall down again, to the
North. Same as before, fall at the platform's END. If you did it right, a rock will be
behind you. Head West. This path will wind a bit, and you'll cross over another spine/bone
structure as well. Soon, you will hit another perma-spout. Fall to the North again onto the
platform below. Do not fall on the ground. You'll be on a platform that will be VERY close
to the ground. Don't worry, you're doing fine ^^.

Follow this platform around, heading in the general South direction being careful not to
accidentally fall off. When you hit another spine, which is rather short, you'll see a path
heading upwards. Take it. You should be heading Northwards and up now. At the top, head to
the right (South) towards the crack in the wall.

You'll quickly hit another path heading upwards. Take it. At the top, ignore the path heading South and continue NOrth. You'll hit a spout, but it will disappear soon. Follow the
path over 2 sets of bones. After the bones and heading upwards a bit, the path will split.

To the north, you will see another set of bones, so head North. At the end of these bones, you'll hit a dead end. Continue upa bit, and you'll fall onto a path below you. If done right, you will have a rock behind you, and you will be facing Westwards. You'll soon hit another spout, but this one will disappear, and when it does,
continue NOrth. Now, just follow this path up a bit more and TA-DA! You're at the top.

While this looks like a lot, it's really about a 5-10 minute walk up if you don't ***** up
and you know how to do it. Of course, there are a lot of falls, twists, and turns. I would
recommend trying yourself first before using this to see if you can do it; it's a fun
challenge in the game. The basic idea is "Head counterclockwise from the southeast corner
until you are on the direct opposite side from where you started. Then head clockwise. Fall
to the path below you if you hit a perpetual spout."

It's really easy, and in a few tries, you'll get it ^^.

I don't know if this is the only way up.

I don't know if this is the fastest way up either.

But what I know is that this way will take you up to the top.

So, {Thank You.} very much and rate up ^^.

PS: I tried to take the Mimeo Stone to the top and it faded away in the last ramp! Grrrr!

Yes I admit that it is pretty bad for a WHM to die from poison. However, I would just like to say two things:

1) If you look at the order of events on the aforementioned post, you will see that this occurred right after the entire pt was raised, so it is quite possible that the WHM was either still weakened or had not even had time to heal back to full (weakened) HP.

2) From what I have heard, the poison plants in Attohwa Chasm give you a poison effect that does 18 points of damage per tick. 18 damage every 3 seconds adds up pretty quickly...

I came here as a level 60 War/whm (yes whm is a good sub for exploring). I didn't have sneak up though and this guy jumped me. I barely defeated him with no mana and about 200 hp left. Just a warning that these guys are nasty. so be cafeful. I encountered him East of Pazradomo Tor where the mobs are about lvl 50-ish.

The guy that gives you the pouch wants yo to travel to the top of the mountain to the east in attowha chasm.

To get to the top you must start on a little path in the southeast corner of the mountain. Keep going up and everytime you get to smoke wait a little bit for it to dissappear. If it doesnt dissappear, drop down to the ledge below the one you are on and keep heading up.

It took me a few tries to get up there but wasnt really too hard. Once you get to the top, there will be able to target a cradle of rebirth down in a hole. Trade the pouch to the cradle and you will recieve a pouch of parradamo stones or somethin like that. Take them back to Jakaka and he will reward you with Key Item: Miasma Filter, which i suppose will get you through that barrier in Boneyard Gully.

Hope that helps you out.

i took a pic, i got to the top, and there was a whole lot of NOTHING.

38War/10Nin used 8 Prism Powders a and silent oils to get there, with a 50 RNG helping me, and nothing, don't waste ur time, unless theres soem unknown NM that spawns there

Oh, ok, so if a giant flaming pit of glowing rocks is nothing to you, then I suppose your statement is accurate.

http://ffxi.dewm.net/_screens/310.jpg

I spent two hours getting to the top of that mountain, and I was pretty pleased with what I found, especially if that's going to be the home of Phoenix some day.

Never, ever be afraid to explore new territory. It's there for you to enjoy.

This mountain and subsequent climb is related to the PM 3-3 Windurst Steps...at the top of the mountain within the central crack there is a quest point..."Cradle of Life"...You just didn't look hard enough...52 paladin solo'd to this location, only dangerous mobs are Doom Scorions, the antlions that jump out of the ground...(forgot what they are called) and Master Coeurls...

The path to the top is very challenging...notice there are 2 types of steam vents that block/hinder passage along the route...the misty temporary ones, and the black billowing permanent ones...in most cases the black ones are an indication that the path lies below...you have to drop down one level to continue...not too hard, but I recommend practicing several times before attempting the run from the Loose Sand to the Cradle of life, seeing how its timed.

I spent about 2-3 hours trying to get to the top of this rock. In some places i would get close, but no matter how hard I would try would slide back down to the ledge. There were however some ledges which I could not find a path to reach and they seemed to go to the top. However it is my assumption that there is currently something blocking the way to prevent getting to the top, It could be a missing 'bone bridge' or a gas vent thats currently 'always on'. Either way at some point in my climb i would get odd camera clipping and could see a structure thats ontop/inside the mountain. That view, plus the whole stone thing clearly indicates that there IS a way up. I need to come back out here with a few other people to cross reference path options.

For those that want to try their nack for climbing. The best path for starting is in the SW of K-8.

Forum discussion Turns out there is a way to the top, involves going counter clockwise. hmm i havent found the south ramp up.

Edit, lol cant beleive i missed it before. start around k-9 then work your way around counter-clockwise till you are on the other side of the rock, head up then go clockwise.

I've been to Paradom Tor and have tried reaching the top. Something always happens and I seem to fall of, get fed up and stop trying. LOL It's a very frustrating mountain, I don't know how you'd reach the top with a mimeo stone. Even if you had Flee, Strider Boots and Powder Boots, those ledges are narrow enough to make anyone squeamish. It took me a few tries to realize that there are some dark spouts that never go away, and these are the points in which you must drop down and follow the path from there.

That's all I really know at this time. I have found one of the Mimeo Stone "Luminants" spots, but is there anyone who has found several? Can you hold several? If anyone has information on this, that'd be cool.

One thing to add, I think that the Phoenix speculations are right on. As I was climbing the mountain, my camera would sometimes be at weird angles. One of these time, it was pointed up into the sky, above the mountain. What I saw made me squeal with glee: A giant red bird circling the mountain. ^^ b I guess we'll see if anyone ever makes it up there.

Hunter Antlions are L43-45 so no, you couldn't kill them with a L40 DRK.

They spawn on the east side of the map near the mountain.
