I dont have the map here. Could you please tell how I can get to King Buffalo camp? I want to solo King Buffalo, but I dont know how to get there. Thank you.
i have copied the map and drawn in the path up the mountain. The red line goes to the entrance to the entrance of bearclaw pinnacle.
The purple/pink line that splits off goes to the southern slope that you must slide down to land on the ledge and connected cave to find the ??? for the map quest
Also, as far as that "eternal ice" or whatever key item you get from examining the big stalagmites of ice in the caves... if you fall down a hole when climbing up the mountain, and have this key item, you can examine a "fracture" where you fall down to and get popped back up to where you fell from. This will remove your key item though, so if you do this, remember to get another one the next chance you get.
ok i found a bomb called snow maiden near the top past first set of kindred. by the mazurak type bombs i belive. It cheacked as imposisble ot gauge, took about 45 min of carby kiting to bring down. Its not as hard as the T - VT agoolik (to a 75) at top though it did not explode. Dropped nothing not even EXP,,, anyone have anyidea what it can drop? or is it quest NM? ( freind also said saw one in same spot called father frost) anyone know anything about these?
ok 2 more kills on the snow maiden, nothing yet. I did run into father frost in same place, carby kited for 1 hour before getting help form ppl in area farming buffalo. Father frost hits about 2x as strong as snow maiden and have ice spikes and parlayze. He dropped rare/ex purgatory collar, lvl 65, whm/blm/smn, enchanment; conserve mp 20/20 charges.
Ok I have confirmed that you do NOT need to complete the "To Cure a Cough" quest in order to do the map quest. You do have to read the diary that the quest involves though, and keep reading it until you read page 4. (This diary is in the first house on Watchdog Alley in Southern San d'Oria.) After that, talk to Antreneau at the pub in Port San d'Oria for the quest.
You will need the Moblin Hotrok which was previously mentioned. It drops from the Moblin Ashman in the room with the rusty levers and NPC moblins in Oldton Movalpolis. I killed him about 7 times before getting a drop, don't know if that's average or not.
Once you have your Hotrok, you must head to Thousandfall Ridge in Uleguerand Range. Getting there is rather straight-forward, though definetely not a walk in the park. From the entrance, head right and into a cave. Emerging from that cave, you go down the ramp and begin your trek upward. Head for the hills and at the top there's a cave leading to another set of hills. Climb those hills to reach a cave leading to a more narrow area. Follow this area to a ramp upward, and from the top of the ramp head south. If you have printed out a copy of the map above, you are working your way counter-clockwise around it. You should come fairly quickly to a large open area with not many mobs in it. Be careful here, this is Jormungand's lair. Head straight south through it to Thousandfall Ridge. Once you pass Jormungand, you may breathe easy because there are no more mobs with true sight.
Once you reach Thousandfall Ridge, there are two slopes you may slide down (one facing south and one facing west). You may take either one, because the tunnels are connected, but I prefer the slope that faces south because it has 2 ledges you can stall yourself on mid-fall and /psych up. If you take the southern slope, fall all the way to the lower of the two visible ledges. Here, you can go east or west down the slope toward some buldges at the bottom of the slope. The buldges are hard to make out but you kind of have to go with your gut feeling on this. Under those buldges are caves. For the map quest, you want to slide east and I recommend running back up against the slope so that once you fall off the edge, you are already facing into the cave (assuming you fell in the right spot). If you failed, you will have to head south and up the ramp to the very beginning. It's a pain, but you get pretty good at it. What might help for this, is on the first area you come into at the entrance, head down the ramp and you can look up at the mountain and see the slope from a different perspective. Here you will see the ledges you fall onto, and the two caves you can drop into.
Anyway, once you're in the tunnel, I won't spoil all the fun because I didn't write exact directions but there is a dead-end with a ??? on the ground. The tunnels are not too complicated, just a series of 3-way intersections with one of the 3 paths leading to a dead-end. One of these dead-ends has a ???. Once you find it, trade your hotrok and you will get a cutscene, then receive your map. Congratulations!
Much thanks to Dolobear, his post provided a lot of useful information that saved me much time.

can anyone copy this map and draw a line and maybe some directions on how to get to Bearclaw Pinnacle? please lol.. I was running around this place for hours trying to find it and had no luck... do I just keep going as far up as possible or is it a different way... I went as far as thos Brontotaur things and got a PT invite... was I going the right way.. or did i miss something?? help me out!
I've tried to EXP here 3 times so far. Each time there has been death and falling down holes on the way. It takes about 1.5 hours to get to camp and someone will die. On top of that, most everything is VT to 74.
Don't waste your time here for EXPing, it's not worth the headache.
Oh and Curnsa only works *sometimes* to remove doom. I had it work the first time once, then fail twice in a row the second. Same with Holy Water, not gurnateed.
Has anyone else clicked on the mound of ice in the caves connecting each section to find a Key Item: Mystic Ice? I found this the other day working on the map quest, but I don't know what it is for yet. If anyone comes up with anything, please post it.
To open the map quest for here, you have to go read page 4 in that Diary in South San d'Oria you read back in the "To Cure a Cough" quest. Page 4 is a new addition. Also, before you go up to get the quest, you'll have to go to Oldton Movalpolos and find a Moblin Ashman. There is only 1 of him, and he spawns every 15 minutes on the bottom platform in the room with the three levers and collapsing bridge. A Rare/EX drop from him will be "Moblin Hotrok". You'll need that to melt ice up in Uleguerand Range in one of the caves you enter by sliding down the hillside. There are 3 sets of cave you can enter from 7 different openings. The set with the ??? that melts is the openings at the bottom that are a pain to fall on. Getting to these areas is also especially difficult because if you miss, you must complete another lap around the zone, past all those wonderful true sight mobs. And Jorgunmand. Good luck!
A Snow Lily is used for warping to the BC fight in Promathia Mission 5-3C (Louverance Path). If you don't have one, you will need to walk to the BC through Newton Movalpolos. Everyone in your party will need this Rare/Ex item to warp.
Ok, heres what my topic is about... More or less a question... Did any of you see that NPC orc inside the cave? He gives out a quest to kill snools and get their clusters. Get 4 and hand them to the orc, but what do you get? I hope its the map..... Cause I love looking at these really undetailed maps.... lol
According to Mysterytour, you get this map from a quest in Port San d'Oria. The quest is called "Over the hills and far away". You get it from Antreneau in the Rusty Anchor Pub. I have hero fame, and can not activate this quest. So if this info is correct, the trigger is not (only) fame. Any info on how to activate this quest would be appreciated.
that's odd, i've done most every quest in san d'oria. to "cure a cough" being one of them. and this quest still won't activate. he just continues to say how he's ready to eat, thanks to the "a taste for meat" quest i did ages ago. >_<
i wish i knew how to initiate it, as my LS static (lvl 51) had fun killing bunnies here today. they are pretty tough little bugger, checking in as ITs. but it's nice to level in a place "outdoors" rather than some dungeuon again. and rabbits are a nice mob change too. unfortunatley they kill too slow to get anywhere beyond chain 2 (at least we never did). plus, the accidental aggro from the tigers was never fun. we just zoned and killed demons when that happened. i do say we all had fun and will come back here to hit at least 52, if not all the way to 53.

Spent a day venturing this area with a 72 PLD and 73 BLM.
Found a NM Buffalo called Boccabon or something... he was positioned around (D-9) or (E-9) if my "i dont have a map" skills are correct.
a JPN 75thf/nin solo'd him, with the help of Bloody-bolts... not too sure what he drops though
also noticed monsters called Brontitaurus (very cool looking) up the northern side of this map... I believe these can see through sneak & invis, as twice we ran beside them with sneak & invis and they aggro'd us.
Side-note! The Brontitaurus things also used a move which cast Doom on 1 player. Countdown from 10 seconds and *bam* dead. Hopefully WHM with Erase can kill this effect.
Taurus (the demon looking true-sight things) Do see through Invis/Sneak, BUT they only aggro to sight, AND they're blind as bats.
I mean, you can walk past one like this and not got noticed:
