Description

Wooden bridges and walkways connect this network of caves deep between Gusgen Mines and South Gustaberg. Oldton Movalpolos is home to moblins, close relatives of the goblins. Unlike their cousins, moblins tend to roam together in groups, making them even more dangerous toward adventurers who stray too near. Of all the realms of Vana'diel, Movalpolos is the lone region that is almost never controlled by Windurst, Bastok or San d'Oria.

Adventurers brave enough to mine in the moblins' home could be rewarded with gold, darksteel and even platinum.

The moblins themselves seem to be digging... but for what, nobody knows...

Points of Interest

  • Traveling through unmarked exits on this map lead to Newton Movalpolos.
  • Escaping from this zone is the fastest way to North Gustaberg.
  • The Goblin Wolfman, which drops the Parade Gorget, is spawned at H-10, G-13 and I-11.
  • The entrance to this zone is a great place for mid-level players to solo with NPC fellows.
  • Miners will find little competition in this zone.

The Map of Oldton Movalpolos can be obtained from chests in this zone.

Just wondering. Can you outpost warp here? I am only level 54, so how dangerous is the area. I have never really been here. Thanks!

Chest can yield at least 5k gil when popped after getting the map.

As for chest locations, http://www.ffxi.blueelephantbrigade.com/ has a good map with them.

spawns Goblin Wolfman by trading Movalopolis Water (sold by Movalopolis Region vendors). NO idea what drops or dificulty might be. I may bring some 75s and test it out. If any one has some clue as to what it drops, lemme know.

On my server this area is usually beast owned...I gather because not many choose to lvl here and more than likely there is death for those doing the enm's and cop's.
Windy has control over this region this week and I ran over to get a few stacks of Mov. Water.

Nothing happened.

Doh! Found the info in the forum for Mine Shaft #2716 - am copying and pasting it verbatim below. Thank you, Thank you, Stryder of the Asura Server. Useful, complete, concise info! Rate up!

There are various Furnaces scattered around the zone in Newton Movalpolos. You trade one Firesand to the furnace and it rotates the gate. The problem is that you have to drop Invis before trading and all the mobs aggro to sight and con at least Easy Prey to a level 75. We usually have our Thief do it as he can trade and then immediately 'Hide'.

However, you only need to rotate the gates to get your people into position to throw the two upper levers. Once you are across the 'bridge' you can take either of two possible central routes across Newton Movalpolos to get to the Mine Shaft. If one is closed due to the gate being in the wrong position, backtrack and take the other.

Regarding throwing the switches to create the bridge in Olton.
There are two upper level switches that can only be reached via a brief zone into peripheral areas of Newton (you cannot get to the Mine Shaft via these parts of the zone). Get two people to the upper switches, one to the lower and the others stand at the edge of where the bridge appears. The person on the lower switch can reach the switch from the place where the others stand on the edge to wait for the bridge, i.e. without needing to enter Newton.

When everyone is ready, someone count down to zero and the three people on the levers throw them at the same time. The three bridge plates swing into place and you then have 30 secs to get across. The two people on the upper switches can drop down to the bridge level by running to the edge of their platform that has three red posts in a line. Normally these posts prevent you from falling down, but they become passable once the lever is thrown.

30 seconds is enough time to get across as long as you don't panic, but if you have a person or two with flee, put them on the upper switches to be safe.

How to work the damn Elevators

Ok, does anyone know a post that gives a coherent explanation of how the elevator in the east end of Oldton Movalpolis works, and what it takes to work it? Or has someone posted a good explanation? From what I've seen, it looks like two of the three levers can only be accessed by zoning in and back through the southern and northern ends of Newton Movalpolis, and it may take a fourth person to work the elevator from the other side once it's been used, so the first three can get there too.

I love maps, and have finally acquired both the Oldton and Newton maps, but this looks like the only way to access the central area of Newton Movalpolis!

I'm going to post this in both the Oldton and Newton area forums and anyplace else logical I can think of. Please help me out!

# Sep 11 2005 at 10:28 AM Rating: Good
with response to being able to mine here with no aggro, i am 61 and experience no aggro whatsoever. but you have to be careful when resting, links in here are awful, and casting around eles. other than that, at 61 some mobs check at EP, but i havent been aggrod yet.

For those interested in the 'Scrawled Writing'... These writings pop at 3 locations in Oldton Movalopolos I-9,I-11, & G-13 and spawns a 'Goblin Wolfman' (lv 50-55) that drops a 'Parade Gorget' for DRK's or PLD's (lv 50). This actually a cool item ta have as it offer's Def 5, +10 MP and offers 'Refresh' at 85% HP or higher. The NM itself is a DRK and may use 'Blood Weapon' and several Absorb spells and is difficult to sleep, so keep this in mind. The drop ratio is a bit lower than 40%, however if you bring a THF with TH II or III yur chances are a bit more like 50/50. Now, I've never heard of using Moval water... but know for a fact it can be popped using a 'Goblin Drink' (roughly 9 or 10K at AH). Bring several with you as this is (once again) NOT a guarenteed drop.

The Wolfman itself is a quick kill with a friend or two (always cool ta bring friends in unfamiliar areas) and of course "Utsusemi:Ichi/Ni" is always a good companion. I've gotten this gorget several times once for myself and for several friends as 75THF/NIN with TH III and use it often to PL some of my buddies as a 75DRK/WHM. ...Hopefully someone in yur party has a map... that should make this effort a bit easier for those that have other things ta do. The only difficulty you should come across is locating the scrawling once the mob has been defeated the first time.... Roughly a 15 minute repop time in any of the three locations. Good Luck m8's!

Here's a link for the Parade gorget if anyone is interested in viewing this item. http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/itemdb/7081

THE DAMN CHEST!!!
# Jun 23 2005 at 7:46 PM Rating: Decent
ok so I've been running around this zone countless times the last couple of days looking for a chest so I can get the damn map. Unfortunately I can't find a good map of spawn points or anything like that at all so I've been looking through forums and the <pos> I've gotten so far are as follows:
G-7, G-8, G-13, & K-11 &K-10 (both of those on raised platforms)
but the chest is nowhere to be found. Am I looking in the right places? Send (/tell) if you can help me. (please)
Fishing?

So supposedly you can fish somewhere here, but I haven't found anywhere yet. Anyone know where you can fish?

:) -TAG

edit: nm, found it today - anywhere near the center of the map (green area) - you don't see water, but you can fish. Just watch for the gobbies, link like no tomorrow.

Coffers AND chests are your friend.

P.S. Be very carefull when fighting there, because moblins and gobs link like crazy. I was fighting a moblin and I ended up warping my *** out with 110 hp left cause 4 gobs linked. As a 63ish mind you.
