Description

The dark, sprawling catacombs beneath the Tavnazian Archipelago are known as the Phomiuna Aqueducts. Once the source of drinking water for the might nation of Tavnazia, these catacombs are now filled with taurs, spiders and the lost souls of those who died in the Battle of Tavnazia.

The Phomiuna Aqueducts no longer connect to the ruins of Tavnazia, but they can be accessed from the basement of Tavnazian Safehold. The catacombs are believed to connect to the Sacrarium of the old Tavnazian Cathedral. A powerful force in the aqueducts limits the strength of those who venture into their depths.

Points of Interest

The Map of Phomiuna Aqueducts can be found by clicking the ??? that appears on the third map at F-7, F-9, J-7 or J-9. The ??? disappears when checked and respawns 30 minutes later.

Exp difference in party in Phomiuna Aqueducts
# Jan 20 2010 at 10:40 AM Rating: Decent
Can anyone help me??.....

I was in a party in phomiuna aqueducts me - rdm with a bst and nin. we were killing fomors for panties. Every kill I would get double the experience as my team mates. These were IT++ to us. I would get 200 they would get 100, I would get 165 they would get 83. Anyone have any idea why this happens. This is not the first time either. I was with a group of 6 more than 2 years ago and we had the same issue, some members of the party got double the experience.

the ??? spawns in one of the 4 "Library" rooms on the 3rd map (the semi-large square rooms) once the ??? has spawned in one of the rooms it DOES NOT MOVE until someone has acquired the map. So, dont wait around if its not there.

Went with an alliance of 16 or so to do the Minotaur this evening and several of us hung out afterwards in the various libraries waiting for the ???'s to pop for the maps. It seems there's a 30-minute wait after someone obtains a map and the next time the ??? re-spawns. There's also another ??? that bounces around, and two others in one of the libraries which open the doors. We wound up getting three maps for our alliance before folks started getting tired and turning in. A couple logged out there and may get theirs in the morning, if they're lucky enough to be in the area where the ??? appears.

I just wanted to clarify as I've read posts on other forums that suggest that the repop for the map ??? is fewer than 15 minutes. It may be possible, but it appeared exactly 30 minutes after each time for us.

like its said J-7 on the 3rd map

to get there you need a THF or a key to open 1 iron door

get past the 1st map - the octagonal room and climb the ladder
-enter
-follow hallway
-turn right and continue down
-turn left at 1st fork
-go up ladder

2nd map
take a right at teh fork
you should enter an octagonal room head north
LADDER
this time you come to a large room with a giant lake thing in teh middle
Run north and hold the wall till you come to a hallway with a gate
Open teh gate
Go forward and take a right at 1st fork
2nd fork take a right
3rd fork take a left
climb ladder

3rd map
this is the part that is tough without a pt
take the door in the right there is an L hallway with 2 tarus in it that are next to impossible to aviod. if your THF toss up shadows and get flee ready along with perfect dodge when that runs out
Run past the tarus and open the Wooden door straight ahead of you.
hold the right wall and you should go behind a bookcase and see a ??? near some jars
talk to it and get the map

Congratulations

I did this solo on my 35THF using thief tools lol

What I did was bring in a Reraise Earring, and when I got to a point where the minotaurs agro'd, i'd Flee, then die in a safe spot and reraise. I ran to the J-7 room, nothing there. There was a ??? on a bookshelf, but it said "You find nothing out of the ordinary here".

Then, I flee'd past the 2 minotaur's, past the next, and into the next library. I died in a safe spot, reraised, healed so I wasn't in yellow HP (Fomor's would agro me) and checked the ??? behind a bunch of pot's.

"Obtained Key Item: Map of the Aqueducts"

Happiest i've been all day =) My LS is going to have an easy 2-3 run now

You can do this solo as a thf, it just takes a lot of dying and a reraise earring. I used 3 charges I believe.

Map and ???s
# May 13 2005 at 5:50 AM Rating: Excellent
Just obtained the map a few minutes ago, from the NW corner of the J-9 storeroom, located at the base of a large stack of crates in the corner. Quoting my own previous message:
Quote:
"...on the third map, there are two pairs of storerooms/libraries. Two of them are commonly visited, as they're where the Phomiuna Aqueducts mission is completed, these are at F-7 and F-9. However, there are two more storerooms with no connection to the mission, these are at J-7 and J-9. Sitting in the J-7 room, I've found two ??? points that pop and give the message "There is nothing out of the ordinary here." These two ???s pop at opposite corners of the room, and depop on a ten minute timer. If you find it, as I did, in the room you enter, 10 minutes after (give or take the time you missed before finding it) it will depop and disappear, presumably reappearing in the J-9 room. 10 minutes after that, the ??? will reappear in the J-7 room at the opposite end, still with the same message. I'd guess these have nothing to do with the mission or with the map, but are instead for some quest which no one's found (unlikely) or has simply not been implemented yet. In the J-7 room, there are absolutely no other ??? points, so there are no secret doors to be sprung, although the map may also randomly appear there, but it should be easy to identify the map if it did show there because there are no other ???s."

It's important not to get confused between the "There is nothing out of the ordinary here." ???s, the secret door ???s and the map acquisition ???. The simplest way to sum it up is: the map is not on the shelves, the other two ???s are. Unlike the J-7 room, the J-9 room has two ???s for secret doors, one on the shelves to the right as you enter and one on the shelves around the corner on your right (past the crates where the map can pop). There is also a ??? in jars in the southwestern corner of the room: don't get excited just because it's not on the shelves, it's not the map. If you search it, there's a parchment in it that shows the elemental chart, as a hint for how the torches work. I didn't see any of the "There is nothing out of the ordinary here." ???s, I assume they only pop in the two storerooms without secret doors (J-7 and F-9). Thus, I'd guess, but cannot be sure:

· There are four storerooms, J-7, J-9, F-7, F-9, wherein four types of ??? appear.
· One type of ??? are to open secret doors in the storeroom you're currently in: there are two each for two secret doors on the shelves in each storeroom in J-9 and F-7.
· The second type of ??? is a hint to the elemental correlation between the torches and how to open the path to the ornate gates through the secret hall, this ??? only appears in the southwest corner of the J-9 room.
· The third type of ??? is a random hopping spawn on a ten minute timer. There are 4 total places it can pop, with two pops on the shelves (one in each corner) of the J-7 and F-9 storerooms. These move in a set pattern, alternating corners in the two storerooms every 20 minutes, if the ??? is up in J-7, it will not be in F-9, and vice-versa. When ten minutes from the last pop have elapsed, the ??? will depop and move to one of the corners of the other storeroom. After another 10 minutes passes, the ??? will move again to the corner it was *not* last in, back in the original storeroom. Every 40 minutes the ??? will make a full rotation back to its original position, having completed its pattern. The message when hitting one of these ???s is "There is nothing out of the ordinary here." Their purpose is as yet unknown.
· The fourth ??? gives the key item Map of the Aqueducts when clicked. It can be located in any of the four storerooms, in one of the corners but not on the shelves. After it has been clicked, the ??? depops and repops after a certain amount of time (30 minutes?) in another corner of one of the four storerooms, possibly in the same storeroom it was obtained in.
· Please note some of this information is simply educated guesswork and hearsay, corrections are welcome.

Thus, a party of six could get all 6 of their maps in a couple of hours, if they had their keys farmed (one key for each person, to be safe) or a THF along to open the gates, since the two sections of the third map are reached through different locked gates. Or, you can do a suicide mission as a WHM (or bring along some form of reraise) as I did, but make sure you have 0 fomor hate, else you'll be reraising in the middle of 3 parties of blood-aggro fomor. I got a key farming fomor, and came back solo the next day as 40 WHM/20 SMN, trekked through the taurus carefully until I reached the library main area where the two gates are. From there, I put up Blink, Stoneskin, Reraise and Protect, summoned Fenrir, and tried to sneak by the taurus. When they aggrod, I had Fenrir attack to stall until I could run through the other door and into the fomor library (he lasted all of one attack, but it was long enough). When the taurus killed me, I reraised amidst the fomor and then searched the room. If it's not in that room, you'll have to train back into the main room with the two gates using the same strategy. Also, if you're going to solo it, I suggest going to the J-7/J-9 area, since 99% of the time the map ??? is up, it's going to be there (and if it's in the other storerooms, just wait a couple of hours for people to come through on PM2-3, 0 fomor hate means no aggro).
Sorry for being so long-winded, but I hope this is all of help to people.

Edit: LoL, right after finishing this, I explored the same room I got my map in and the map ??? had repopped at the exact same spot I got it from. Doing a search, I found no-one in zone, so I've edited the bullet list above as needed.

??? Points for the Map
# Apr 06 2005 at 6:59 AM Rating: Good
Did the 2nd part of CoP 2-3 last night and wanted to point out something that a few posts state. A couple posts say that you get the may from a ??? point in a storeroom/library. There are multiple ??? points in these rooms that are not random that open "hidden" doors. If you find a point and click on it and don't get the map, then more than likely you found one of these points. I saw one of these "door" points and thought it was a map point. I was wrong.

Figured I'd share since I haven't found this mentioned anywhere.

I'm sorry but this info is dead wrong. We spent 15 minutes using this info and never got the door open. The correct info is the game day you are currently on (e.g. watersday) and the element that the game day's element is strong to (e.g. water is strong to fire, so water and fire on watersday).

the true sight mobs hang near the ladders and you can't use invis while inspecting the ladders anyway. you can walk behind them and not get caught. this is easier in the large rooms than the small rooms. we did some practice on some of the weaker ones while figuring out minotaur strategy - these mobs don't link either. have mages with back turned to mob at all times. everyone will need antidotes and holy water. (they have a poison move that is very potent.) the gaze attack does have a limited-range aoe though. another attack is defense down attack so have erase ready.

only other aggros are formors, slimes, and doomed. they are all sound aggros. other than that everything is passive.

OK, I was afraid this link would get broke (broken?), so I dl'ed and modified it. Hope you like the improved version (and I hope Elanole doesn't mind) http://www.carlgarner.net/PhomiunaFomors2.pdf

Edit: Figures the very day I put this up SE does this
Quote:
The location of certain monsters in the Phomiuna Aqueducts and the Sacrarium has been adjusted.

So, I still hope this helps, but the info may be worthless now ; ;

It's frickin' frustrating getting this map. I couldn't get it during the PM2-3 mission, so I went back to the other side solo using a key that I obtained during a subligar-farming event, and it wasn't there, either. /sigh

Also, the room at J-9 has a ??? that contains a hint for the PM2-3 lamp puzzle. This makes me wonder if the ??? even has a possibility of spawning in this room.

A ??? will randomly appear in any of the 4 store rooms/libraries. Clicking on it will get your a map of this area. The 4 store rooms/libraries are not shown in the maps included on this site.

If you are doing CoP Mission 2-3, you can look for the (map giving) ??? while you are in the store room/library. Have someone open the door for you if you check the store room/library on the other side of where you came in. There is no way back in after the door has closed unless someone stays back in the hallway.

I notice that you don't have the eastern library rooms marked yet. The north one has two BRD/RNG parties and one RDM/MNK party; the south one has PLD/RNG (or they might be solo), 2x RDM/BLM.
