After a good 2 hours or two organizing people to go, we finally headed out to Dem and shortly after that, into the Promyvion - Dem. The first two floors were easy enough, but we lacked many rangers. I think we just the one that organized the party. Luckily, we had 4 summoners and we took care of the MRs. We reached the MR on the 3rd floor and when It finally died, everyone ran for the portal. Only 10 of us made it.

We snuck by as many monsters as we could on the final floor and eventually had to aggro one with an avatar and flee for the exit. So there was 10 of us. Too many for one party, too few for two.

I talked them into letting me take 2 other summoners (as I am one already.) There was a monk, who secretly had anima, and another white mage left.

Much to my suprize, the boss fight wasn't all that hard. We started with Anima and then the three of us summoners all Astral Flowed for about 1200-1400 damage in total (roughly 50-60% of his HP.) Healed our MP, did it again. Monk used Hundred Fists to finish it. I belive our white mage had to use a single Cure II that entire fight.

My Reccomendation: Get Anima. Get Summoners. Pray.

Good luck :).
Too much for two people.

A ranger friend of mine and I decided to explore this area the day she got the expansion. I was WAR/THF and she was RNG/NIN. The first lvl we cleared with no problems - She blasted the Memory Receptacle and kept her Utsusemi up while I would kill anything that aggrod. On the second lvl, the mobs were Tough-Incredibly tough, so we made a point of not aggroing any of them. We killed Memory Receptacle one of three down there when we decided killing those Memory Receptacles, although possible, was draining the Ranger too much, and she'd be out of Utsusemi before we could finish them off. This was, of course, before we knew of the BCNM battle. At the end she had me warp out as she went off and died since we really didn't have the resources to press any further.

I've been working on mappign out the important points here. So you know, there are 2 floor-3's. One is to the North and one to the south. If you go thru the S fl-3 and use the downstream on fl-4 you'll go to the same fl-3. I found this out when my alliance tried to team up with another alliance and get our members off 3 together, they'd gone thru S while we'd gone thru N.

Also, the "true" memorystreams move around, sometimes it's at the same spot it was previously, sometimes they move. I had at first thought they were stationary, but I was proven wrong tonight on floor-3.

I dont get the "clear your memory" part. Can someone explain?? For example, If I win the Dem fight; I have to go back in and clear my memory before Holla or Mea?
how we did it

Ok first of all of our alliance, no one won the battle however I am convinced if our white mage would've survived longer, we would've won.

Initially we had a full alliance with a wide variety of jobs regardless of what Rujind says. The only rule we had was one blink tank and one whm in each party. beyond that anything was open game.

After we beat the final memory recepticle the plan was to have the bards sleep the strays while we all go through the portal. The problem was that one of the people in my party was Japanese and we neglected to explain it to him. So while all the mobs were sleeped, he kept attacking and he ended up dying with no raise since the rest of us were on the 4th level.

so on the 4th level all we did was regroup and try our hardest to avoid aggro. We made it to the spire with no aggro drawn and no problems met. Now comes the hard part.....

we were the last party to go so we had time to just wait outside the burning circle and talk strategy. Eventually the blm from the first party finally appeared outside the portal so we raised him and he joined us so we had a complete party.

We were NIN/RNG (me), WAR/NIN, WAR/NIN, WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, DRK/WAR.

First thing we did upon entering was get buffs and let the whm rest. Upon entering, I noticed the bridge leading to the open area and I suggested we bring aggro onto the bridge... that way when the offsprings spawn they have an extra obsticle to get around to get to us. so our hume WAR/NIN runs in and vokes him then pulls him off onto the bridge. we then unloaded on him. The DRK was able to get off a couple weapon skills and also take out the offspring himself but we ran into a problem about halfway through when the whm got aggro and we couldn't pull it off so we lost our whm.

The blm took over healing duties while the WAR/NIN took turns bouncing the hate. By now the NM is at about half health and I decided if I can stay at full health, when he gets closer to dying I'm going to use my 2hr. it'll knock me out of the battle but do CONSIDERABLE damage. BLM uses his 2hr and now we got the enemy down to well below a quarter of his health and our galka WAR/NIN drops just as 2 offspring aggro. Unfortunately, the both keyed in on me and when I did use my 2hr, it was only for 6 damage. Not long after that, the other 3 dropped. The NM had less than a quarter of its health left and our whm still had drinks so if we keep her alive, we win the battle. I'm convinced of that.

Thats my experience in Promyvion-Holla. Eventhough we died I still had a blast doing it and can't wait to do it again. I'll upload my images from inside later and then update my post.

Hopefully my experience will help others to succeed whereas we failed. Goodluck and just remember to Have Fun!!! ^_^

Dark Knight: ROFL no.

^^Ok no offense but thats just rude man and good luck finding ppl that can DO DAMAGE! And well Drks can nuke! Besides be happy with what you get is my motto. sheesh plus you don't really need to do this unless you wanna get to go to Tavaznia which isn't the end of the world in my opinion. Heck I haven't been to T'lia. I need to get to rank 6 to start Zilart for me to go there. I say have fun with what you got. Sure don't get me wrong THIS IS HARD but even tho I died 3 times in this zone already doesn't mean I'll give up. I say save level 30 armor....YOU"LL NEED IT! Too bad I sold my centurion set for 15k each piece exclude head.
I have had good times in there

I must say as a Drk I'm having a blast in these zones. I have no idea why but hey ppl have to have faith besides its new and ppl will figure out how to beat these areas faster.
How to win at Promyvion

How to win at Promyvion

The following instructions will help you win at any of the level 30 Promyvion missions.

I. What is Promyvion? Promyvion is Chains of Promathia mission 3-4. I myself have not made it to Dynamis yet, but I have heard lots of people say "this is like Dynamis." You can access Promyvion by getting 4 cutscenes. The 1st by zoning to Lower Delkfutt's Tower, 2nd at Upper Jeuno, 3rd at Upper Jeuno Infirmary (you get key item Mysterious Amulet here) and 4th at Ru'Lude Gardens at the Guard Post inside the palace (door on the left). Then you can just teleport to Dem, Holla, or Mea and enter at the Shattered Telepoint. Once inside, you'll click on the Left Apparatus to enter Promyvion, and obtain your lovely level 30 cap.

Promyvion is made up of 5 areas. 4 of these areas are wide open, full of alien monsters. These guys can be a real pain, because every one of them uses some type of AE. On the 1st 3 levels, there are "Memory Receptacles" that you must find and destroy. Sounds easy, but they're surrounded by mobs that respawn VERY quickly and you can't melee the orb. L O L. The last area of Promyvion is an extremely difficult BCNM fight. Yes - you enter Promyvion with 3 full parties of 6, but fight the boss with a single party. :{

NOTE: If you enter a Promyvion and leave it (fail or otherwise), you must "erase your memory" at the same Promyvion before entering a DIFFERENT Promyvion. You do this just by talking to the Large Apparatus again. Cake. You do not have to do this if you're doing the same one you just failed. You enter at the Cermet Gate instead of the Large Apparatus in this case.

II. Party Setup. Invited a Taru WAR/MNK to your alliance? You lose. Save yourself several hours of wasted time, disband, and go craft. This is *THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF PROMYVION.* You have to treat this like a BCNM - you can only invite certain jobs. No ONE under 30. We had a 27 Ninja who gained a total of 23% TP at the boss fight. Useless. Here's what I can tell you about each job, and this info is based on the BCNM fight, not the other levels of Promyvion:

Summoner: One of the BEST jobs for this. Two words: Astral Flow. And the sub WHM helps a lot. YOU CANNOT, HOWEVER, INVITE A SUMMONER AND EXPECT THEM TO PLAY A WHITE MAGE. NO.

White Mage: Very useful job. I would say they are required, but I beat Promyvion Mea without a WHM (he left when we got to the boss, replaced with BLM, and won, without any 2 hours). Should use Dia, Slow, and Paralyze if theres no RDM.

Black Mage: Another very useful job. Sub WHM, please. Thanks. Stick Blind if possible. If you're in a good party, Magic Burst. ;}

Ranger: Probably the most important job. Damage, damage, damage. RNG/WAR is nub, RNG/NIN is win.

Red Mage: I've yet to win with a RDM in my party. But I can see how they would be a good benefit to the BCNM. The boss fights are nearly impossible without debuffs, and RDM are the best at this. Slow and Paralyze are *REQUIRED,* and you should use Dia as well. No need for Silence.

Bard: This is the job I play in Promyvion. I can tell you I suck pretty bad at Bard. I have problems getting buffs up as a WHM so you can imagine me as a Bard. I actually kinda hated playing Bard until the Promyvion BCNMs. I get to run around like a chicken with my head cut off, and I have to say it's pretty fun. This is the only job that can give MP regen at this level, but I can't say that MP regen is necessary. I use a Gemshorn +1 which has Mambo+2, and used Mambo and Minne 2 on the tanks. After the fight, the tanks always tell me how much Mambo helped out, saying they got missed a LOT. I can't confirm the usefulness of Minne, but Minne 2 adds 20 defense. Since I don't play Bard (only leveled it to play with a friend) I don't have etudes, so I kept Mambo on the mages too. I also Diaed, and used Reqiuem 1 and 2 (they stack).

Ninja: Pretty much required. Main or sub. Utsusemi is so very important here. Low end Ninja equipment pretty much sucks though. If someone tries to come as something beside NIN/WAR, blacklist them. OK don't, but tell them to shut up.

Warrior: ONLY as WAR/NIN. Probably better than NIN/WAR because WAR/NIN will do more damage. Sucks that the good axes are level 31 though. :\

Thief: No.

Samurai: No.

Monk: No.

Dragoon: LOL no.

Dark Knight: ROFL no.

Beastmaster: Blacklist all of these and tell them to go play offline RPGs.

Paladin. Eh. Not going to be near as useful as a blink tank. Could probably be the back up tank, but not without a BRD and drinks.

As you can see, theres only certain jobs you can invite. A good party setup is to have 1 main healer, 2 tanks (rng/nin is a tank), 2 damage jobs, and 1 something helpful. Mix together for a win. Before you go thinking I'm crazy, read my helpful tips on the BCNM fights.

III. Preparation. Of course, it's best to get people you know. But most of the time you're gonna have to shout around for recruits. Make sure everyone has seen all 4 cutscenes, and have had their memory erased if necessary. Don't get useless jobs and try to get good party setups. BRING FOOD AND DRINKS. You'll need to bring other items like Potions and Antidotes, etc. for certain Promyvion bosses (read below). Shade equipment isn't necessary, but it helps a lot. Someone in our alliance said he was doing an additional 20 damage every hit because of Empty Killer. I don't know which pieces or how many pieces he was wearing. You should also explain what exactly you're doing so people don't do things like try to melee the Memory Receptacles. Don't always expect everyone to know.

IV. Promyvion levels 1-4. From my experience, there is little to no different between Promyvion Dem, Holla, or Mea. The scenery is a little different in each (Mea is probably the coolest, but the windmills in Dem are really neat), but the only real difference I saw is that Mea has an extra mob called a Craver. These guys have horrible AEs, don't fight them if possible. They have a bad poison. The only other monster that really sucks is the Weeper, which does AE silence. The range doesn't seem to be too huge, so mages can easily avoid it. So far every mob in Promyvia does some sort of AE, and sometimes they will do a damage AE. I've seen people down to 100 HP after this. So here's the rundown:

Level 1: This area is very small, and there is only 1 Memory Receptacle. Everything here is easy prey. Normally, while waiting for the rest of the alliance, people come here and farm the mobs for memories and rare/ex items.

LEvel 2: The mobs have moved up a level, but it is still very easy. You should have no problems here. There are severel receptacles on this level, but only 1 is real.

Level 3: This is where things can change. You'll need to be a bit more precautious here. Things should be somewhere between EM and VT checks. Again there are several receptacles on each level, only 1 is real. This is the last level you will need to kill a receptacle, and it can be the hardest part of Promyvion levels 1-4 if not done correctly.

Level 4: Look for a huge building. Technically, you could just run through here and train everything to the zone, but that's not exactly recommended... until the building is in sight at least. :P Mobs here are IT+. Be damned careful, it takes 10 seconds to completely wipe here if you're not doing it right.

Memory Receptacle fights: NO ONE, WHOSOEVER, MAY TELEPORT UNTIL ALL STRAYS ARE DEAD. NO ONE, WHOSOEVER, MAY TELEPORT UNTIL ALL STRAYS ARE DEAD. NO ONE, WHOSOEVER, MAY TELEPORT UNTIL ALL STRAYS ARE DEAD. I cannot begin to stress this enough! If you do not do this you will have wasted yours and everyone elses time. Have your ranger(s) use widescan to find the receptacles, and clear the area around them if needed. Melee cannot attack the orb, so you the RNGs, BLMs, and SMNs avatars should take care of it, while the rest of the alliance kills Strays. Strays respawn VERY QUICKLY, so killing them might not even make sense to you, but you will certainly have to. The Memory Receptacle has a knockback + damage AE (which is actually REALLY fun if you want to see your character pull some Matrix crap) so meleeing is pointless. After you see "Energy Seed," you may run up and cast spells or do whatever is needed, then back up ASAP. I used both my Requiems as a Bard on the receptacles as soon as Energy Seed went off, and still got hit with the next seed even though Requiems are like instant cast spells. BUILD YOUR TP WHILE THE RECEPTACLE IS ALIVE, and use it after its dead on the remaining Strays. This is another thing I cannot stress enough. It's not as important on level 1 and 2 because things are pretty much a cakewalk there. But level 3 is a little different. Spam your TP and nukes on the Strays after the orb is dead and immediately jump on the portal. DO NOT try to sleep the Strays and teleport. Waste. Of. Time. I have done around 10 Promyvions, and when people don't kill the strays, half the alliance dies because they're trying to teleport while getting attacked. Agro will NOT let you teleport. On level 3 it is very hard to sleep things, so just do everyone a big favor and take the above advice. There is no reason to have half the alliance left behind or dead, with barely any party members on the next level. Yes, the portal is open for only a very short amount of time, but if you save your TP and make everyone team up on the strays, you will be just fine. It's *probably* safe to use AE spells at this point, but DON'T get yourself killed.

The only other advice I can give you is to try to avoid as much agro as possible. Everything agros to sight so far, but Invisible won't work. Try to keep everyone in a compact group when traveling in the higher levels - something I made my alliances do is, when we're at an iffy spot where there's a real good chance we'll get agro when running by, get to the safe spot past that mob, then stop and wait for the rest. When you've got 18 people running in a pretty much single file line, that covers up a lot of space meaning more chances for agro. This method is simple, and if you DO happen to get agro, you just pull your agro to the safe spot, kill, continue.

Levels 1-4 are actually very easy, just tonight I got to the boss fight in 30 minutes using everything I've said above. Now, the boss fights are a completely different story...

V. Promyvion BCNM Fights. Oh. My. God. So you take about 2 hours getting your alliance together, and finally make it to the entrance of the Promyvion, only to take another few hours getting to the BCNM. Finally, when you're there, you lose. Again. And again. Sucks, don't it?

These boss fights are no joke. They can be really freakin' hard. You're tanks pretty much require Utsusemi. Rangers WILL be tanks. It's also a good idea to have two tanks instead of one (at least a blink tank and a rng/nin) so they can swap agro. You're going to want more than 1 person that can cure, hopefully like 3. DEBUFF. DEBUFF. DEBUFF. Dia, Paralyze, Slow, Blind. If you have a SMN, they can use Thunderspark. This stacks with paralyze, so you can have DOUBLE paralyze. Also, you should probably wait till the boss is atleast 1/2 dead before using 2 hours. Just don't wait too late. Now here's what I can tell you for each Promyvion boss fight:

Dem: The 1st half of this fight is easy. This boss does not use any AEs! And just when you're thinking "wow this is easy," he start spawning Offsprings on you. Yay. I'd have to say Summoner is probably required for this one if any, since Astral Flow is AE. Really not much to this fight.

Holla: Ouch... AE sleep, AE blind, AE curse. Loves to use a HP drain attack than I've seen do around 300. Yummmm. I've heard many say this is the hardest Promyvion fight. I hear of people using poison potions on themselves to counteract the AE sleep, but my party won without doing this. Instead, we just have 1 of the mages sit away from the other ones so that someone always avoids sleep. Wake people up IMMEDIATELY. This is one you'll really have to save your damage 2HRs for because of its drain attack. It will spam when its low HP, you'll need your 2HR to finish it off before it drains again. I can't really say whether to worry about Blinda and Cursna, it seems after its 1/2 dead you need to just kill it as fast as possible while keeping people alive. I won this fight with WAR/NIN, WAR/NIN, BRD/WHM, SMN/WHM, WHM, and BLM. One tank died, then the next, Summoner uses her last Astral Flow for the kill..

Mea: Heh, apparently SE likes to mess with us. This boss is absolutely ridiculous. You can't stand and fight it. Someone must be kiting it around at all times. My party did it without a RDM so I'm sure Gravity would be awesome for this fight. This boss does 3 evil things: a very harmful AE that knocks you back, a single attack that can do like 400+, and AE gravity. Lost hope yet? The kiting technique seemed to work very well with our party and others that we got to try it. You need to not get hit as often as possible and try to avoid as many of its specials as possible. A lot of times running away from it will cause it to miss. My party almost did this with 5 people (BLM BRD SMN WAR/NIN RNG/NIN), failed, and tried right after with an additional BLM, used no 2HRs, and won. I WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BRING HI POTIONS TO THIS FIGHT. He also does an AE poison, but I don't think we were too worried about that...

With the right people, these BCNM fights can be a lot easier than they could be. Most people seem to have failed several times on either the 3rd portal or the boss fights. I hope these strategies help you.

Now, about those jobs that I said not to bring. As I said for Mea, we almost won with only 5 people. I don't want people of these jobs to get their hopes down (or up), but this seriously has to be done a certain way. I've heard of others winning with 5 people too. It's all about damage and keeping people alive. If you've got enough damage and support for your party, it really doesn't matter what you invite. It's really going to suck though if you invite something like a DRG to Mea, where they keep getting hit for 200s by the AE (LOL how long would a Wyvern last in there...) and you have to spam cures on them all the time. I know it sucks for your job but it's not my fault. >_> Not only that, but these bosses take a long time to kill but everyone does such crap damage to them. Meleeing is weak, even spells are weak. Everytime I've won its taken 13 minutes. O_O

I can't really think of much else to tell you, besides good luck. Try not to have gimp gear especially for important things like tanks and rangers that will be getting hit, mages will need MP, MND, INT, etc. Consumable items are pretty important. From my experience, lots of times there will be people outside the BCNM from parties that broke up or wiped, etc. They often reform parties there and reattempt the bosses. Usually at least 1 party from the alliance stays outside the BCNM while others go in, incase people die, so they can raise. All BCNMs are on a 30 minute timer, so you're kicked outside the door after that period of time once you enter. If you wipe, your whole party can ALT+TAB (disconnect from FFXI) or reset your PS2/modem. This will put you outside the door so you can start getting raised. The ENTIRE party must do it though, no one can be online in the BCNM at the same time, so maybe go take a leak real quick before you log back on. Also, like most BCNMs, you can click on the door and run away. Your 30 minute timer will not restart until 0 people are in the BCNM area though.

And that's it for me folks. I hope I have enlighted some people, and made a lot of BSTs mad. Promyvion is supposed to be a fun event, and it is, so don't make it any more or less than that. I wish you all good luck. Kill the Strays before you teleport.

(PS: I can't even imagine what kind of crap I wrote in here, it's 6am, ive been up for a long time.. O_O I'm sorry)

Why did the below people get rated down? Rujind was being very rude, to BSTs in particular.

Good info, but the job bashing was uncalled for.

Beastmaster: Blacklist all of these and tell them to go play offline RPGs.

I think you need to be a little less rude. Just because you don't like to party with a BST, that's no excuse to tell people to blacklist them.

At least you apologized at the end of your post.

Had a WAR, THFx2, SMN (me), WHM, PLD. I think -- I'm a little fuzzy on this. PLD took most of the hate, me backup healing, WHM doing lots of healing. THF's sneak attacking as much as they could. Around the time that the first couple of Offspring spawned, WHM ran out of MP, I activated 2HR. PLD and WHM died. I blow away a couple Offspring with Shiva's 2hr attack. After getting hit a couple times, I went to opposite side of arena to rest up for a 2nd 2hr attack while the WAR died and the 2 THF's kept utsusemi up and kept their attention. One of the THF's pull a Perfect Dodge, then I came back with Ramuh's 2hr to end the battle. 3 dead, the rest of us were down to low health. No special items used to exploit the NM's weakness, we were just incredibly lucky. :o

Just so you people know, the BCNM is almost impossible without at least 12 ppl, and even then its HARD!!!! As for the memory NMs at the warps to each zone, they are pathetic. My alliance had a lot more trouble with the seethers and random mobs then the NM. Just stay back and whatver you do... DON'T MELEE IT!!!! you'll lose ur tanks really fast. Our straegy was to have ranger and nukers blase the NM, while the melee killed off the strays. If a melee built up TP he would quickly run in and use a WS on the NM, then he would run away fast. Doing this, we owned those guys no sweat.

Me and a LS mate have been here a few times since COP came out. Most of the mobs drop different types of memories used in alchemy. On Carbucle server they go for around 1k each on AH. Not sure what they are used for yet. They also stack to 12.
Mystery of the Anima
# Sep 25 2004 at 9:34 PM Rating: Decent
OK: bear with me, I have both experience and objectivity... I did the lower delk's and everything and have only gone to Promyvion - Dem. The good news is that I went with a JP alliance... the bad news is I fell asleep O_o. But, the better, yet mysterious, news is that when I woke up, I had a strange item I hadn't noticed in my inventory... It was a kind of Memory item, but it wasn't a Remnant type, but a full one, forgot the name...

Anyways... I heard from a guy I met in P - Dem that I could get an Anima with it... I was extatic, I'm a SMN, but then he told me the it wasn't an avatar, but an item... I just figured, cool. I asked how. He told me I just had to give a Memory to a guy in Ru'lude Gardens (Harlith, if I remember correctly, he's in the Archduke's chamber behind the castle). So I went. He told me it would land me 2-12k, since I'm poor, I welcomed the hefty amount. Well, surprise, surprise, I went there and traded a Memory... nothing. I talked to the guy... he gave me a quest... I traded again... nothing. I was mad already.

So I decided, "What the hell?", and traded him the RARE/EX one, the NPC was surprised. He then told me to give him 2k an the item. I was reluctant, but I obliged. He then told me to come in a few hours. I grew impatient.

I went back to P - Dem and started fighting random crap. Farming, etc. Then they linked... couldn't zone... So, I'm back to Jeuno and I decide to go back to Ru'lude. I was sure a few hours (Vana'diel, of course) had passed from when I had talked to him previously. He told me it was done, and handed me a Bottle of Hysterianima. He then explained that when it was used, it would exploit an Empty's weakness (since we know they have none) **I have come to believe that they do, but it's individual... Just look at their "escence", as I call it, and use that element's weakness, it works for me**

I figured: "cool." I went to Upper Jeuno and shouted for a party for P - Dem, I got one almost immediatly. It was a party from old friends of mine. I was already happy. I told them everything I knew, and then I found out neither of them had ever gone there, that they were exploring. Needless to say, I was the one that guided them through the Memory Receptacles (Summoners can solo kill these. It's slow, but it works. What I did the first time, not in the aforementioned party, but in another, was make Ifrit melee the Receptacle and make the tanks and melees of the party kill the Strays. As I said, it's slow, but safe. After I ran out of MP, a mage would sleep it.) After long hours of turmoil, and deaths, we were all still in and in the third level. We wanted to try to gain EXP from the IT mobs, they were fairly easy, but landed us with a max of 94 EX each, 78 EXP most of them. After a while they questioned me about my Anima. I told them what I remembered that the NPC had told me and the text in the item. (I don't know if I said this, but the item is RARE?EX, too... so I can't sell of show it.) Well, told them that I suspected it would be used against the NM that I've always heard is very hard. But since the party was tired and some people had to leave, they requested I use the Anima to see what it did. I hesitantly pulled a mob with Ifrit and used my item. Nothing. All I got was a load of hate and no HP loss on the mob or anything.

I assume it's either especially for the NM or maybe for the Receptacles. Or maybe it's just useless. Whatever it is, it's a mystery to me and the people around me. Please tell me if you know anything about these accounts.

BC Fight

Did this today. We made our through Promyvion, and arrived at the entrance to the Burning Circle fight. Level cap is 30 in the fight, just like in Promyvion (there's a room outside where the level limit is lifted). Unfortunately, once inside, we were torn to shreds. The paladin who was tanking (his top was Centurion Scale - not sure what else he was wearing) was literally taking damage faster than I could heal him by chaining Cure II. After he died, the target came after me and killed me pretty quickly. I died when it was at about 80% health, and had barely any mp left at the time because of my chain cures.

Group consisted of paladin, ninja, thief, black mage, white mage (me), and one more that I don't recall the job for.

Its doable. A Japanese group that went in about the same time cleared it. But I'm wondering whether there's a trick to it, or if you just need to start stocking up on the Super Ethers and X-Potions and brute force it.
Memory Receptacle
# Sep 24 2004 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
Someone has probably already posted this, but I didn't go through all of them to find out, but I was able to beat the Memory receptacle with only 4 people. It's quite easy. Just takes a bit of strategy to accomplish.

For starters, the mob does not move and has an AoE attack that does a lot of damage. The mob uses it's AoE as it's primary method of attack and it has a cool down time of 1 minute (this hasn't been proven, but this is what I calculated it to be. Correct me if I am wrong). So in order to deal it damage you MUST have a mage of some type. This is to keep it from going yellow while you fight the strays, which I will explain later. Dia, bio, poison. Any of that stuff will work. Now, to deal it some REAL damage you'll need a WAR or PLD. Someone with high defense. This person runs up and takes the AoE attack, then runs back. After this the melees go up (together) and attack it ONCE then run back. NOTE: The melees will have agro from the strays when they come back. So while the melees are handling the strays that they agroed, A mage should go up and cast one of the 3 spells mentioned before. AFter that is done, simply repeat the process until it's dead.

Once the Memory Receptacle is dead a portal to another part of the area will open.

Ok to let u know u dont need anything more then 2 ppl to kill the Memory Receptacle. a RNG/NIN and a WHM/BLM. I was hitting it consistantly for 80+ damage with great bow +1 and Horn Arrows. with utsusemi u might get hit with every other AoE attack. took me and my friend 15 minutes alone to kill it and go past. but you need to kill all the strays so u dont get the skipped event. Basically ranged attack, sharpshot barrage, ranged attack, rinse and repeat, if u dont get close u wont get to hurt, also if u are fighting it even though its a claimed mob others can attack it at the same time

Okay, if you really must know, to gain access you must have Promathia expansion (obviously). Go to Lower Delkfutt's Tower, Apon entering you will get a cutscene. After the cutscene, head to Upper Jeuno. When you enter Upper Jeuno, you will see another cutscene. After that cutscene, head to the Infirmary in Upper Jeuno (next to the goddess temple). Talk tot he doctor (forgot his name) and you'll see yet another cutscene. After talking to him, head to Ru'Lude Gardens to the Archduke's Palance. On the right side of the giant stairs leading to the audience chamber, there is a door leading to a guard room (on the bottom floor). Go in and there will be two guards standing talking to eachother and one guard off by himself. Talk to the guard standing by himself. His name starts with a P. He'll tell of the shattered telepoints ect. After you talk to him, you will be able to enter the different Promyvions.
Emptiness from hell...

OK... my LS went into here tonight to look around and if nothing else possibly see how far we could go... 7 of us...
Went in... 1st level pretty easy until we got to the glowing light from hell that managed to knock everyone back quite a distance and deal out some heavy damage. 1 death... >_<

So we thought it might be better with more people... 18 to be exact...
1st level... glowing ball from hell managed to kill off nearly half of the freakin' alliance. The mages spent more time trying to heal themselves due to the damage inflicted and were scrambling trying to heal up everyone else as well. Not a happy scene.
At the end of the night... all but 4 people made it to the 2nd level. Why? Because the WHM for party #2 didn't want to stick around to raise his dead party member... thus leaving me to do it.

Personally, I think the glowing ball from hell's difficulty will depend upon how many people you have in a party. The more you have... the tougher it will be. Basically like garrisons...
When I do it again though, I am going to be sure that people are listening to one leader... and not doing whatever everyone else is saying. Let's just call it a freakin' zoo from where I was standing.

ok here is another way to prove more isnt better. if u go in with an alliance or a full party make sure u bring ranged attackers. have mages use blink, have any melee that u can sub NIN, and fight from a distance. Have ranged attackers like RNG, SAM (with a bow) hell even THF with a throwing weapon pound at it from a distance. only runing in to let off a weapon skill after its done its AoE, keep mages just out of reach so they can heal while u run back up into attack distance. have tanks be ready to grab strays that might aggro when u run up to do Weapon skills. you will get through faster and without a problem

To trigger the quest that will bring you to Emptiness, you first go to Lower Dekfutt's Tower, then Upper Jeuno. After that, speak with the doctor in the infirmary. Next, to Ru'alude Gardens to and into the Guard House at the Palace.

After that, you can go into Emptiness at the Shattered Telepoint. It seems that you can get through the area by killing the Memories to get to another part. A party is recommended for the first Memory and the next area. I didn't explore more than that because there were only 3 of us.

Still not sure where to get a map :(

Could you explain in greater detail as to what we are supposed to be doing or looking for in LDT and UJ?

Sorry to be a pain, but I would like to try these, as I hear it's the key to getting to Tavnazia.

From what I could tell, it's like another dimension version of the area in which the crag is located (in this case Konschtat Highlands). Though the landscape wasn't like it at all, there were floating bits of land, ect, but it vaguely resembled the highlands. You're capped at level 30 when you go in here. The watchers check as Easy Prey, and the seekers check as Decent Challenge. I didn't go very far in because I wasn't very well equipped. I did however see an alliance of players killing everything in sight...not sure why though.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 23 2004 at 2:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yes... spill it... how? i have the expansion and it is registered and i checked the crag of mea. both the crystals "u already have it" and then the shattered one i checked. "it is shattered into a thousand pieces." ummm... yea i can see that... not too helpful. I then ran around the whole crag searching for things to target and found 2 ???? on the ground on the SW side of crag. "{Gimmie all ur money) u hear sounds far below the earth". ummm... movapalis obviously... but not what im looking for. obviously there must be sum bull$hi+ quest involved that is time consuming just like everything else in the game. god forbid u just run up and check the shattered crystal and it whisps u away to emptiness.... /sigh
