Description

Beneath the frozen surface of Beaucedine Glacier lay the ruins of Pso'Xja. The meaning of these extensive tunnels are unknown, though the towers that contain their entrances lead some to believe they were once inhabited by the Ancients. The Tenshodo control these dark ruins, and the decision was recently made to open the ruins to adventurers.

Points of Interest

  • The entrances to the different areas of Pso'Xja are at F-7, I-7, J-8, H-8, G-9 and H-10 of Beaucedine Glacier.
  • The area of Pso'Xja accessed from G-8 is capped at level 40; the area accessed from J-8 is capped at level 50; and the area accessed from H-10 is capped at level 60.
  • Promyvion - Vahzl is accessed from the Pso'Xja tower at F-7.
  • The notorious monster Golden-Tongued Culberry, which drops the Uggalepih Pendant, spawns at J-9 on the third map.
  • A Pso'Xja Pass is required to enter Pso'Xja.

Map Acquisition Tip

For those of you annoyed by all the mimics trying to look for the real chest, here's a tip.

If any of you are familiar with the old targeting arrow trick in the Golden Salvage assault (real chest, arrow disappears; fake chest, arrow remains), it works on these Pso'jxa chests even after they patched the Golden Salvage chests.

Target a chest, keep hitting enter. If you're at the right range, you will get the message "You need a Pso'jxa chest key to open this chest". Once that message appears, observe the targeting arrow. If it disappears when you hit enter, it's the real chest. If it doesn't, it's a mimic. Just be sure to stay a bit far away so as not to aggro it/pop it when you hit enter.

Here guys:

1. Fake chests can be seen on widescreen: FALSE!
Chests cannot be seen on wisescreen whether they are fake or not. Period.

2. Real chests ask for a key, fake chests don't: FALSE!
Mimic or no mimic, when you select one after sneaking up it will always ask for a key. You'll find out soon enough whether you just bumped into a map or a mimic.

Why people give out false info is beyond me. Stuff like that can be easily tested.

mimic avoiding...

A tip on avoiding mimics... they detect by sound... so what you can do is sneak yourself and select one, if it's a chest it will say that you need a key to open it... if it's a mimic it will do nothing.

I want to reiterate someone else's post to remember to check the spawns in the unmapped area by the Avatar Gate.

I highly recommend antidotes if you're going to be fighting the Treasure chests they have a STRONG LONG poison in fact I never once had it wear. It took me at 10hp/tick from 1100 hp to 280 before I used an antidote.

I could not sleep the chests with sleep bolts, I could acid, blind and drain them.

I soloed both NMs on both locations as 75nin had no trouble at all, its a long fight though since they invincible every 1 min XD...

They don't use invincible - what they do is switch abilities, one is immune to physical attacks, the other is immune to magic. they have a nifty animation where colored energy flickers around both of them - thats when they switch. I was there as DRK, would switch over to attacking the one that wasn't immune to physical attacks, and drain'ed etc'ed the other, and vice versa when they switched next, FUN...

Anyway - cleared that up, I'm sure the information is under the actual listings for the NMs, dunno, Idc.

Be well
Tips on the ??? trap fights.
# Dec 17 2005 at 7:54 AM Rating: Decent
Me(75blm) and a friend(66PLD) were running around in here and came across the first ???, which is the blue one. Spawned the two, we took them down, slowly, but we did.

Then later on we came across the next set of ???(the green one). We were very close to winning that one, very close. Good thing I had RR up ^^

After checking log, seeing one would get hit for 0 for a short time and one would constantly resist my nukes, which should not happen seeing as I am 75 and have merits on elemental, we noticed something;

They do a move, it looks like a sand/wind type move. And when they do that they switch job traits, sort of speak.

One is gonna be weak to nukes, and one is gonna be weak to melee. But when they do that wind/sand move, they switch jobs.

So we got up, tried out our thought and we were right on it. This is very true, and VERY helpful for everyone that needs/wants these two key items.

For all those who are going to do this, please bring a nuker and a melee. Or RDM/NIN :)

Good luck Every one!
RE: Tips on the ??? trap fights.
# Mar 18 2006 at 3:37 PM Rating: Decent
Just a quick note after fighting these things. There may actually be three phases and not just two. Weak to magic, weak to melee, and then weak to ranged.

There are definitely three phases when you attack them with one style, like magic. One phase is massive destruction, another phase is high resist, and a last phase is complete resists for 0 damage.
key drops from bats
# Nov 06 2005 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
While battling random mobs a bat dropped the chest key and a mimic dropped a cyan chip.

Aside from the chest locations marked on Vanadiel Atlas, which are accurate spawn markers for the mimics except for two minor discrepancies, there are also two chest spawn points found after taking the elevator down from the 2nd floor to the Avatar Gate. I finally obtained the map from the chest at the dead end - next to the ruins and camped by an ice elemental - after killing the easy-prey mimic at the intersection.
No guarantee you'll find 2 Treasure Chets in room

My friend just got his Pso Xja map and there was only 1 treasure chest in the room. Also some of the coffer spawn points are wrong so look around. First check if any rooms have 2 treasure chests. If you don't find the real one this way, you'll have to do it the hard way. That's right.
Go to every room & kill fake chests.

PS Make sure no one has been in the room for a long time so you're not wasting your time looking a real chest that hasn't popped yet.

Ok this can be one of the most confusing zones in the game and i have taken my time to create my maps the best i can. each towers lowest level has no map and i have been creating my own for these areas. I have them almost complete but since i had a large update to sit through i posted what i had complete and i'll finish the rest up in a few days or so.

the ones i have complete are the level 40 cap tower (the one with all the colored warps and the shrowded maw at the bottom) the tower closest to Ranguemont Pass, and the tower where Nu pops.

yeah i finally got my map and nothing anyone has said to find real ones work. the best way to do it is just learn where all the mimics pop then the chest are the other places. If you see two chest in one room one is a real chest for sure, there is only on mimic pop per room.

By opening a chest. Most likely the first few chests you see will be traps and attack you. If you see 2 chests in the same room 1 is real 1 is fake.

IIRC the fake chests show up on widescan while real ones do not.

"IIRC the fake chests show up on widescan while real ones do not."

did they change this? i went in with rng sub and no chests at all showed up on widescan. even the ones that aggro did not show up on widescan (well until they aggroed, then they did =P)

just for clarification, i do not have the map yet. and i was MNK75/RNG20. when i widescanned i saw all the other mobs but no chests at all. even when i was standing next to one, that later aggro'd me when i got closer.

2 other areas connected to Pso'Xja

The Shroudded Maw - Located at central tower, past door where you need the Pso'Xja pass

Promvion Vahlz - After clearing Sacrarium and a few other CS, you head to the NW tower on the glacier map, examine the door will spawn a NM golem with a 100 HP regen ability, I was able to kill it with a 53ish NIN, 69 DRG, and 69 PLD (me)

Go though the door now and SNEAK YOURSELF, or you can aggro 1 or 2 Thousand Eye mobs, take the elevator down and examine the Stone Door, watch the 2 coolest CS ever (dead serious, they rock) and you can go into Promyvion Vhalz

Kinda suprised no one has speculated anymore about this besides that one post below. I was bored and decided to go exploring. I ventured into one of the uncapped areas of Pso'Xja (1st tower you see after you zone into Beaucedine Glacier from Ranguemont Pass). Just about everything con'd as TW with a few low EP's deeper in that wouldn't agro me.

Yea, so I roamed around trying to figure out the lay of the land... found myself in a trap after clicking on a blue thing labeled ???. Got locked in a room solo'ing two NM's that upon clicking the ??? after defeating them gave me a key item: blue bracelet. Roamed around some more since the blue bracelet can get me past the door with the blue light above it. Found another room deeper inside that had a green thing labeled ???. Same process again... defeated two more NM's and got a green bracelet. Catching onto the puzzle of this section of Pso'Xja I ventured further. Then found a room with a Crystal Activator.. clicked on it, got a cutscene of a gap between two walkways making a bridge appear. Went down to that area and crossed it... went up some stairs and came to a huge elevator that took me down past all the levels I was exploring into a basement area so-to-speak.

When the elevator touched down at the bottom. Directly in front of me was a massive door that looked like it was bashed in by something huge leaving debris everywhere around it. Placed cursor on the door... AVATAR GATE

This basement area only had two exits. Go back up the elevator and backtrack OR a warp that kind of resembled the full moon fountain teleport that warps you outside in front of that tower's entrance in Beaucedine Glacier. What I find interesting about this basement area with the huge Avatar Gate door... is that it completely gives off a BCMN vibe. Because when you leave the room with the Avatar Gate door you get to a fork in the path where you go left or right... left takes you to the teleport out, right takes you to a dead-end obstructed by huge rubble as if it's some supposed drop off point that you reappear at after finishing a BCMN kinda like after some of the avatar battles that respawn you in a different drop off room. A fellow 75 RDM in the area told me he suspects it also to be a new avatar or future mission BCMN in a future update.

Unless this is already something from the CoP missions that I'm not yet aware of. Because I've read up through chapter 5 and read nothing about an Avatar Gate. Just thought I'd share that bit of information thats probably already been brought up and done fell off the forums by now. Meh, but excited to see and tell you all about it if you haven't heard about it. ^.~

the Avatar Gate is a quest you can get in Upper Jeuno after completing CoP mission 3-3. quest is called A Reputation In Ruins. talk to Migliorozz in the Temple of the Goddess in Upper Jeuno, he gives you a key item. head down to the Avatar Gate in the uncapped area you're talking about, click it, leave. reward is 3500 gil.

The 6th and 13th map of this zone are just copies of each other. To ensure it is just a copy, the only entrances to this zone from Beaucedine Glacier are the towers there. There are only 6 towers in the glacier but the Pso’Xja maps here have 7 entrances labeled with entrances. these maps were gained with auto collection so there was prolly just a extra that the developers didn't take out. Much like how they didn't take out the maps for the Hall of Transferance when they decided not to have maps for the zone.

exp loss/gain

the exp here is calculated like it would be at the level that each tower is capped at. For example, if you are a level 60 in the 40 cap tower and you die in the 40 cap tower, you would only lose the exp that a level 40 would. For leveling, you level as you would at your normal level. So if you are 60 in the 40 cap tower and are exping there, you would still need the normal exp that a 60 would need to level up. And some people might think that you cannont level in here but you can. When you do level, it will say what level you attain but you will still be under the level cap. Hope this clears some things up for some of you wondering how the exp is calculate in this area.
RE: exp loss/gain

This is sort of correct except for how EXP Gain works in level capped area.

The exp you get will be:

#1. The EXP you'd get if you were uncapped
#2. The EXP you'd get if you were at the cap, Divided by 2.

the higher of #1 and #2 above. This is calculated on an individual basis.

Yes you CAN exp here at any level, but it's really only feasable up to the level cap or slightly higher. If you get too high your EXP gets cut off by a lot (due to #1 dropping to zero EXP)

# Nov 03 2004 at 1:53 AM Rating: Decent
This is Chapter 3 for the prominthia missions.

You have to first enter psoxja at f-7 where your uncapped to get rare/ex drops from lizards that you hand to tenshido, to get a key item that you need to beable to enter diablos bcnm.

You then enter the 40cap area at the tower near the outpost to get to diablos.

In the uncapped area the majority of mobs conned em-vt at 75.

Looks like a good new area to get hakututu eyes from killed a few million eyes but no golden drop so cant say if the ones in this area do drop them
