Description

Off the western shore of the Tavnazian Archipelago, a broken mass of land floats in the clouds above the sweeping sea. This is known as Riverne. There are two areas of Riverne, which are known as Riverne - Site #A01 and Riverne - Site #B01. This land mass was once connected to the western shore of the Misareaux Coast, but the land ripped loose and floated into the sky in the aftermath of a large earthquake.

Points of Interest

  • Adventurers must use the spacial displacements to move around to different parts of the zone.
  • The zone to Monarch Linn is at E-8.
  • Unstable displacements require a Giant Scale to be stabilized.
  • The spacial displacement at I-9 leads to the BCNM for the quest Ouryu Cometh.
  • Adventurers here are capped at level 40.

Map

The Map of Cape Riverne can be found by completing the quest Go! Go! Gobmuffin.

Solo?
# Nov 30 2006 at 9:27 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a way to get through here solo? If I recall correctly the firedrakes are VT, but possibly sleep > nuke > sleep method? Or maybe some uncapped area where you can get giant scales (I doubt it... but it would sure be nice)?

Ok... I gave it a shot. The Firedrakes are actually T++ but you only have Sleep I at 40, so... no way. I was basically at a stalemate until it resisted sleep and I had to gravity it and run until I could recast. Fortunately none of the number of things that could potentially have agro/linked did, I got sleep off, and warped out. It would take about half an hour to kill one I'm thinking. If the drop rate is like 10% (I think that's fair?) That would mean killing what 10 drakes per scale, 20 total, and half an hour each is 10 hours... not logical. I guess the wisest thing to do is go through Riverne B since its higher cap I think, and only need 1 scale... now I just need to get access to it :(

This is unvarified but I'll post up the info I found online anyways:

Quest Name: Go! Go! Gobmuffin!
Reward: Map of Cape Riverne (includes #A01 & #B01)
Starting NPC: Epinolle [F-8] Third floor of Tavnazian Safehold

This quest requires access to Riverne Site #B01. There you need to find a goblin that can make the map. There's mentioning of 3 mobs:

- Book Browser Bokabraq (BLM)
- Chemical Cook Chemachiq (WHM)
- Spell Spitter Spiluspok (???)

No other info is available. Hope this helps.

How to get here
# Mar 23 2005 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
Enter this area by using the Spatial Displacement, which is on the other side of the Dilapidated Gate at F-7 in Misareaux Coast.

Can it be farmed?

Has anyone tried Farming this place with a small pt? These dragons and Hypos seem to drop so hefty $$ items.

Trunk and Map
# Jan 31 2005 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
I found a "Trunk" in this zone. Its like a chest but it says there is no keyhole to open it. Any idea how to open the trunk? My guess is that the map is inside.

Anyone got some info?

"The Search For Goldmines" quest also gets you a Deluxe Carbine, on Garuda server this gun is 50k on the AH. This seems to make the Quest a little better than just "a time consuming quest", but thats just My Opinion.

The trunk u'r talking about has something to do with the Rabao quest "The Search For Goldmines" given by Zoribah (F-6 Rabao). You'll need a Copper Key dropped from a Riverne Vulture. Reward is 3,000 gil and it's not repeatble. Sort of a time consuming quest IMO for measely 3k. FYI, it has nothing to do with obtaining a map.

you should look at that quest again my friend, you also get a rng only gun with that, which on my server sells for 80 to 100k

Hello

We and some friends are on Riverne - Site #A01.

We tried it twice on one night and know pretty much what to do and how and all...

But the SMN and WHM aren't reliable and can't count on them to go again.

We'll need a new SMN and a new WHM for this and maybe for further missions from CoP

If you're one of the above, and are on Diabolos, and are interrested in joining us, pelase send me a /tell

Since you can use Escape in this area, I don't think it can be classified as Outdoors. Should be under dungeon :P

I believe that I read somewhere that the map is obtained later in the CoP Missions. It will be given to you in a similar fashion that the Norg Map was given to you.

Okay, like prior posts have said this place is level 40 capped (so whoever said 1-75 is full of **** :P) But to get to Monarch Linn, you will need 2 Giant Scales to get through the Unstable Distortions.

To get these you need to fight the Firedrakes in the area. These Giant Scales are not, as some folks on the Cerberus server have put it "a Castle Oztroja coffer drop" :P They are not Rare, but they are EX. All you need to do is find the CORRECT Unstable Distortion and trade the Giant Scale to it. It will open and everyone in your alliance is to get in to it ASAP before it closes back up.

Now when you get to the point where you see Atomic Clusters, use Prism Powders (NO MAGIC) to get past these. Avoid the True Sight mobs too. Its a pretty straight forward run to the next Unstable Distortion where you use the next Giant Scale.

After that Unstable Distortion, you're in the home stretch to Monarch Linn =) I will check the Monarch Linn map posts and see if a strat has been posted there. If not, I'll post one myself
RE: Some information
# Jan 18 2005 at 8:14 AM Rating: Decent
After running around here the clusters (not bombs) didn't aggro me from sight, they only aggroed magic, I could have been really lucky and come accross a blind mob.
There are 2 levels of aggro mobs here.
The first tier which a party of 6 can annihilate and the second tier which is a little less fun.
The cloud hyppogryphs have additional effect of gravity when they hit you, so you CANNOT run away from these badboys (NIN tank is good).
I went with a RDM and THF and we duoed the wyverns and hyppogryphs in the first area.
The second tier begins after the first trade area (giant scales) at about I-9 on the map.
One of the NMs or should I say 10 of them are on an island in the second tier area, they drop jaeger rings and dobson bandannas, beware if you pull one they ALL come... all freaking 10 of them.
I can't see how the BC is that hard, I went with 3 people NIN/SAM/RDM and the SAM half killed one and the NIN tanked the other easily with no damage while I kited round the 3rd, with 3 more members hell with 1 more member we could have almost done it.
However I'm curious about the yellow liquids, if anyone has information on them I'd be most grateful.
GL for people who do this mission.

getting to the bcnm in monarch linn is a cake walk in comparison to the annoyance of the promy's. everything is sight agro if it can agro lol

beating the bcnm.... thanks to SE nerfing the "yellow liquid" just for us after several JP alliances went through is another matter lol

It is not a friendly battle, im hoping to try again with different strategy
lol

Cheer up people this is a level 40 cap, I hear Japanese shout on this a few times, and can see Lv40 in the message, since this is farther then the Promyvions yes I assume its much harder(gasp how is the possible?) well with teamwork the first three promyvion are very easy, meaning you dont melee the orb, you dont "scout" , and you dont run around like headless chickens all over the place. follow one person and shut the **** up ^^

To get to the zone, hmm I would understand you need to beat the first three promyvions....then Phominan Aquaducts(sp?) mission which has a level 40 cap(the one im on right now) and after, the CoP missions goes to this one....

This area is capped at 40. It has two monsters in the first part that have truesight. In the second part, everything aggros.

Basically, this area is for a BCNM fight against three people. This fight is unbelievably hard and I just got whooped by them.

Very cool cutscene before fight though of Bahamut being captured.
