Description

Deep beneath the ground near Mount Zhayolm, the caves of Halvung are the perfect stronghold for the Troll Mercenaries in their ongoing battle against the Empire. In addition to housing numerous trolls, this zone is also home to many moblins who helped build the troll fortification.

Mining Points

I've always wanted to try mining here to see if i could turn a profit so i gave it a go a few days ago and this is what i found.

So far i've found 10 mining points. I'm guessing there are more but here is a good start for anyone who would like to try thier luck at getting some of that pricey Orichulcum Ore(~90k) or Luminium Ore(~240k). Here are the positions for mining points that i have found so far: (all positions are on the first map)

(1) I-6 : A large room with trolls, an archaic mirror and a moblin millionaire. The W side of the room past fire pits, SW corner accross from the mirror on the W edge of the fire pit. Safe to drop invis and give it a few whacks.

(2) J-6 : Take the NE corridor out of that room that leads to J-6 and few steps in on the S wall before the crawlers is another spot. Just out of sight of the trolls. Keep sneak up in case the crawler gets too close for comfort.

(3) K-5 : Continue down that corridor and u come to an open area with a crevas and bridges linking the 2 sides. Trolls up top and bombs down below. In this upper section there are 2 i have found. One on the east side north end.

(4) K-7 : And, another on the east side south end. There are trolls here but they dont go all the way to the ends where the mining points are. Safe to drop invis and mine.

The next 6 are a little more tricky and may take some patience.

(5,6) J-4/5 : Head back to the room with the archaic mirror that i mentioned in (1). Take the north corridor, between the fire pits, and go east at the T at I-4. You'll come to a small room with trolls and another archaic mirror. 1 mining point on the north wall and another on the south wall. It is possible to stand at the mining point, wait till the trolls move to the other side of the room, drop invis and mine. After 2-3 whacks recast invis. This room can be very tricky and takes some patience. I agroed, ran into NW corridor, died > RR or sleepga > escaped here a few times.

(7) J-5 : Exit down the SE corridor and you'll come to the open crevas area again. Only this time you'll be at the bottom where the bombs are. On the west side north end is another mining point. Used prism powders/silent oils here a couple times when the spot was used up b/c bombs have a significant magic agro distance. However, it is fairly safe to drop invis and mine here.

(8) J-7 : Same crevas area, same side (west) south end this time. You have to pass by the bomb to get to this mining point. Once past it's fairly safe to drop invis and mine.

(9) K-6 : Cross over the bridge to the east side. Past the bomb to the south end is another mining point.

(10) K-5/6 : Take the east corridor from this side and about half way to the next room where the path slopes up is another mining point on the north wall. Bombs on both sides of you and wamouracampa closeby so sneak is needed. Watch magic agro if you are casting invis once you've used up the spot.

I did this solo as a mage (carrying powders/oils) but maybe if you have a pt you can kill the mobs around the points before you mine.

Good luck and happy mining!

I have to fix your English. I usually don't even bother, but yours is so bad I think it needs to be translated.

You are not supposed to go to Halvung for mining for the quest. It's in Aydeewa Subterrane. All you need is sneak through that whole area. You'll find 2 evacuation points and for some weird reason after you mine one. It won't let you get anything from the other. Either way you go back and get your Olduum ring.

Sorry for that, but damn...

Went here after getting my Electropot for the Olduum ring quest, just to explore. A lot of Trolls here that seemed to be sight based, and some Flan type creatures very similar to the ones seen in the old FF games. I'm assuming the Flan type mobs are sound based, but never tested it. Invis wore and that's how I found out the trolls have sight based aggro >.<

Upon exploration of zone. There are doors similar to Quicksand Caves where you need more than one person to open it. We opened it with four, and all you have to do is all touch mirror at same time. Much like the weighted doors in QC.

That led to a couple of entrances to Mount ultimately, though we had to go tthrough another door of the same type. And an area with locked boxes. We got key, but weren't able to open the boxes. Later I found another set of boxes in the northern section of 1st map.

Anyone know how or when to open these?

Then after spiraling down in the room with the volcano, I came to area with Decorative Bronze Gate. It was firmly shut and upon second inspection said something to the effect of needing a key with a troll's head on it.

Anyone know how to open this gate?
