Description

Large amounts of mythril were extracted from these twisting caverns long before the discovery of the Palborough Mines. Complete with a railway system for mine carts, Gusgen was heavily mined for many years. However, as the veins of ore were depleted, the miners packed up and moved away. Now the mines remain abandoned.

Persistent miners can still find darksteel, gold and other valuable ores in the tunnels of Gusgen. However, they must often compete against a troupe of strangely named miners who rarely stop or sleep.

Ghosts often roam the dark tunnels of Gusgen. Some are peaceful, and quickly fade from sight. Others are deadly, and they'll take any chance to drag adventurers into the afterlife.

Just a small update to the post below with the list of key droppers. The Sadflies will also drop them. Can stand on the stairs above the area they're flying around and pull them up one by one to kill. Not a problem if the ghouls con to weak to be worthwhile, then you dont have to worry about extra aggro. Flies con easy at 36, I killed 2 before they dropped a key.

Pudding

Hey has anyone ever seen a Pudding? it is not on the list of enemies in this area. I was watching my friend fighting in there. He had a lvl 60 Whm helping his group get the magick skull, and they got attacked by a Pudding and even the Whm could not hurt the Pudding. it wasnt strong enough to hurt the white mage and he just kept sitting when they would hit him and get his MP back and heal himself. I watched them fight it for like 30 minutes. if anyone has seen it please tell me cause everyone in my Guild keeps saying it is a jelly but i know it was a pudding. Thanks

You prob saw some ppl doing the Eco-warrior quest(which req u to get lvl cap at 20), the quest is to kill 3 balck jelly looking type mobs, (don't remb the exatly name, I guess they look like pudding too) , and any1 who are not doing the quest(like the lvl 60 WHM u saw) CAN NOT HEAL the ppl are doing the quest and CAN NOT attk the mobs.

P.S. Don't ask me what's lvl cap ! >_<

Heh...Puddings are old enemies from the Dragon Quest series. Good to know that the ENIX branch of Square-ENIX is having their influence.

Key will drop from these:
Galliniper
Myconid
Greater Pugil
Banshee

Banshees can be located in the second map, the others in the third map.

Edit: I think a friend also obtained a key from Wights, which are found along with Banshees on the second map.

The entrance to Gusgen is on the most eastern side of the Highlands, it's that little thing sticking out from the East side of the map.
area...

Gusgen Mines is located just to the east of the Highland Crag, in the dip there... rather hard to miss actually.

Its not the dipper on the Left side if u lookin at the map Its at the right side where it has a little gap thing that's where Gusgen mines are.
yes it is in highlands and to get a ghoul skull u will prolly need a high lvl char to help u out. NOt every ghouls drop skulls. Barely any of them do. So u 'll have to get lucky with it to get it to drop skull and then its all Lot fights for who gets it first =P

take the westmost exit to north gustaberg from south gustaberg, and continue north. You'll pass by the outpost in north gustaberg if you're going the right way.

Cross a bridge, then zone to the highlands. Bring up a map for the highlands and look at the far east side, there will be a small 'inlet', directly east of the Crag. That's where the mine is.

From the port, go north to north gustaberg, then go north, you may want to set your homepoint before you proceed to the next area. When you go north you will end up in the Konstacht Highlands (spelling?), from here go ENE direction til you see a cave, this is the gungsen mines... be careful not to trigger the ghosts/polterguists/thunder elementals unless you're ready....

you have to take the south gate exit from town.then go all the way to the west side of SG and go north past to NG and north again to the highlands.
