Description

The tropical rainforest known as the Yuhtunga Jungle comprises the majority of the Elshimo Lowlands. Due to the hot and humid conditions found throughout the area, a variety of plant life, from giant vines to carnivorous flowers, has evolved over the centuries. In the southernmost part of the jungle, a number of small waterfalls can be found in a place known as the Hidden Valley. According to local legend, faeries gather around the falls, and the Mithra of Kazham often travel here as part of their purification rituals.

Points of Interest

  • Adventurers who are levels 20-23 can fight mandragoras just outside of Kazham.
  • The outpost in this zone is at G-11.
  • The notorious monster Rose Garden spawns in place of the Overgrown Rose next to the outpost. The Overgrown Rose can't be killed or aggroed for roughly 10 hours. The Rose Garden eventually turns into Voluptuous Vilma.
  • The fastest way to Yhoator Jungle is to drop down the hole at H-6 and follow the path southwest.

To the person who plays Shugo, on Seraph, asking about LFG in the jungle...

One thing that may help, is raising your WAR subjob to 12. I've noticed that the people in Yuhtunga are pretty serious about forming efficient parties. If they see you with a subjob 5 levels lower than most others, they'll often pass you up, for someone with a /12 sub.

Hope that helps.

*I know this was posted months ago, but its important to say this anyway*

A possible reason is the fact that your subjob is/was horribly underleveled. Most people will pass on such characters immediately when making a party/looking for members. People, please level subjobs too. Thank you.

all you need are silent oils or sneak for the sea serpent grotto-everything that does aggro you, aggro's by sound-from yuhtunga, just stick to the right of the cave, and you will run right into norg-for a map of the grotto, and a guide for the tonko: Ichi and Utsusemi: Ichi quests, go to www.zebraflood.com/ninja/ninjutsu.html

I've spent alot of time in this area in the last week and been in numerous parties. The best combination I have seen is to have 2 WHM, 1 BLM, 2 WAR and the last member can work as a variety of jobs. When I was in a party with this combination we took down IT Smithys faster and with less damage than any other combination I have personally experienced. The two WAR can hold the agro off the mages and the WHM's keep us healed fast enough to where we didn't get to dangerously low levels often. The BLM is critical to add some major damage spells. Of course a RDM fits in nicely as well.
On the flip side, I was in several parties where I was tanking and we only had one WHM and maybe a RDM or someone with WHM subbed and we couldn't take an IT Smithy without someone dying, usually me since I was the Tank.

Kazham is place to get a lot of EXP from any monster in the area even the gobs aren't much trouble if u hunt them down, a ranger or a person with range attack can pull this moinsters with out to much risk. last night i hunted gobs with a party of paladin, warrior, thief, white mage, red mage, and a dark night, we kill them fast and with out getting too much damage, we could kill 2 gobs a time, oh yeah the party was between levels 27-25

I tried to trade various items without any success... Maybe it's made to use with sickle/hatchet... Too bad I didn't have any >.<

Raffleesia (spelling...?) is a tropical plant found in rainforests. I can see what it looks like already, but I doubt my image in my head is what it really looks like. If you know Pokemon (go ahead, flame me :D) you know that the Japanese name for Vileplume is Rafflesia... which... Vileplume looks just like a real Rafflesia. Basically, it's a freakishly large flower that looks like it can bite your head off!

Should you happen to take an Expeditionary Force to the Lower Eleshmo (where's the tab key when you need it?) Island, you will want to find the beastman banner, and defeat what comes out of it. I would highly recommend a full allience for doing this task.

The locations of the banner that i know of are as follows: 1. At the entrence to Kazham (G-5) 2. At the outpost (G-11) 3. Near Gemini Falls (K-7). Getting to this one is a little tricky, there's a cave off the path in the middle of the block at (I-7). There is an overgrown rose at spawns here, so be careful.

Extremely Crowded Zone

A few thoughts:

This zone is incredibly crowded at times on Siren. Upwards of 15-20 parties (ranging from levels 24-29) will be competing to pull mandragoras to the rather limited 'safe' camps and it is foolhardy to venture deeper into the jungle for other camps as Smithys do tremendous amounts of damage quickly to the unsuspecting party.

Because of this strain on the mob population it has now also become popular to coordinate pulls among 2-4 different pullers, which increases the risk of a Goblin Train of Death running by your camp. Watch for it, nobody ever warns you it's coming. It has also become the vogue to have 2 whms in a party (even though it's not really necessary) so if you want a quick party at these levels by all means come as a WHM.

The camps are very cramped and there's a lot of competition for the choice spots (behind the barricades just at the zone edge). 1) Stake out your camp and leave people there so others know you'll be fighting there. 2) Don't choose a camp too close to another camp if you can help it. It's irritating and both parties will wind up getting hit by the often-dangerous/sometimes-lethal AOE (Bomb Toss or Dream Flower).

In general it is better to join a party BEFORE coming to Kazham. Just make sure everyone has their arship pass before inviting them and save yourself some embarassment.

I always seem to get lost here as the map is quite useless in navigating with the holes serving as effective "one way streets". I found the following JPN site with a pictorial map. I plan on printing it out and keeping it handy for the next time.

Moreover, a whm/war will not be popular when people are looking for a healer in this zone, where there are lots of whm/blms to choose from.

Also, someone who invites a lvl22WHM in jeuno is going to want to take them to Qufim 9 times out of 10, so if you want to come to this zone at this level be prepared to start your own party and convince them to follow you to this zone (often to their death).

25 is the safest level to be picked up for this zone. You'll be popular.
RE: WHM advice

Levels

I went over to Yhoator at lvl 27 when the EXP started getting low in Yuhtunga (55ish a mandragora). One can certainly crank 150 exp out of a Goblin Smithy in Yuhtunga; however, doing so is very costly to the party as the downtime tends to be significant due to the wonders of Bomb Toss. Mandragora in Yhoator are another story though; they tend to take a bit longer to kill than the smithy's in Yuhtunga but the exp averages out to about 200 a kill at lvl 27 and goes down to only about 150 at lvl 30. On the flipside though, you will NEED two WHMs at lvls 27-30 in Yhoator. The Mandragoras take so long to kill that by the time it's dead you've easily plowed through all your mana. With two WHMs you'll do much better for yourself at the cost of it taking slightly longer to kill the thing due to lack of damage being done. You should be able to chain around lvl 28-29 without much difficulty and see as much as 230 or so per Mandragora.

Anywho, that's my two cents.

also went over to yhaotar at 27 and leveled twice in the same night in about 5 hours. there was just me(rdm/blm) and another of the same in terms of healing. we were lucky to have a ranger and a thief for DD and were able to chain the yhaotar mandys to xp chain #4 sometimes so all the kills were 200xp to 240xp each and very fast too...
RE: Levels
# Feb 27 2004 at 2:10 PM Rating: Decent
Umm.. Guys I was in Yhoator last night and have been there for 3 days now. I've noticed a couple things from both of your posts that are not quite right from my experience. You do NOT need two whm's in a group for hunting mandi's in Yhoator at lvl's 27 to 30. Mandi's will put you to sleep a ton of times and will stick on the person doing the most damage most of the time. Skill Chaining will wipe them out very quickly. So will having a rng, drk, or theif when their high power hits. I did power checks on a few of them last night at lvl 29 and I was still seeing IT's but exp does drop at my lvl I noticed. I was getting 150+ exp at lvl 28 but it has dropped to 80 - 120 since I hit lvl 29. Having a blm in the mix too is also a good thing.

Later!

The jungles
# Feb 05 2004 at 3:09 PM Rating: Default
I say it again and again in the game, and now I'll say it on here before the next thing you see is the blue glow of an HP crystal. Never, never, never go deep into either of the jungles until you are at least level 27, or with a group of people who you KNOW are good and you are familiar and confident in their ability to fight. Jumping into a random group who's leader screams "LET'S GO TO SPOT X WHERE THE EXP IS BETTER" is certain death. If you don't die quickly in the hunting area, you'll die on the return trip just from getting lost and being raped by Goblins.
