Description

The tropical rainforest known as the Yuhtunga Jungle comprises the majority of the Elshimo Lowlands. Due to the hot and humid conditions found throughout the area, a variety of plant life, from giant vines to carnivorous flowers, has evolved over the centuries. In the southernmost part of the jungle, a number of small waterfalls can be found in a place known as the Hidden Valley. According to local legend, faeries gather around the falls, and the Mithra of Kazham often travel here as part of their purification rituals.

Points of Interest

  • Adventurers who are levels 20-23 can fight mandragoras just outside of Kazham.
  • The outpost in this zone is at G-11.
  • The notorious monster Rose Garden spawns in place of the Overgrown Rose next to the outpost. The Overgrown Rose can't be killed or aggroed for roughly 10 hours. The Rose Garden eventually turns into Voluptuous Vilma.
  • The fastest way to Yhoator Jungle is to drop down the hole at H-6 and follow the path southwest.

Looks like they updated the levels for this area:P. Minor, almost unnoticable. But more areas previously had 1-75 listed... The only thing I can see worth noting is that (I am 99% positive that the map was there previously, but who knows, maybe they updated the name of the map and corrected the page)... but I am pretty sure it's the min and max lvl.

partying concerns
# Mar 01 2005 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
i have been partying here for several days now. It's true, it is very difficult for some jobs to find a party here, i especially feel for all of us THF's trying to get by. There have been times i've found a pt right off the bat, and they've been good (went from 25 - 27 fairly shortly)........i've also sat there for over 2hrs trying to get an ivite and/or build my own pt. patience is the key, and not having a whm isn't necessarily a bad thing. Good Luck everyone, and if u need a THF of Siren, holla at me - Alok (Bastok Rules!)
Finally Lvl 25 ^^
# Feb 15 2005 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
Yay, I get to go to Kazham and here tomorrow ^^

seriously though, I though Qufim Island was bad for parties, but from what I've read here, it seems that this can be worse :0

But... Having been described as Tarzan earlier today (really... you don't wanna ask), someone said that I'd like it here...

Well... I guess I'll find out soon enough.

The trick I've learned, after a grand total of 8 hours in the Kazham area, is that Patience is the order of the day.

If you're sitting around for more than 20 minutes lfp, start looking into forming your own. Be honest with people you recruit, and if they still join up, you'll be ok, and they'll help you look too.

I made it from 25-28 last night over a span of 5 parties. Only *one* of those parties had a WHM as a main-job - BRD/WHM, RDM/WHM, and SMN/WHM were the most common main healers I saw out there, and I did ok with them.

This isn't to say that all 5 parties were good - I died several times, and one party was an utter disaster, but I kept my cool, I never yelled or resorted to "l33t s9eak" to berate others for mistakes made, and I wasn't sitting on my big galka butt for more than maybe 30 minutes total from the time I got off the boat.

Good luck to all - people on Asura joke this area is the "Nam" of Vana'diel, so good luck and don't section-8 :-)

In my opinion finding parties here is so annoying!!! >.< There is always not enough whms around to party with so you end up waiting for a party for more than an hour T_T . If you agree with me please reply ^^.

Pre 30, WARs are a dime a dozen. I know I wouldn't be inclined to invite you with a level 11 sub.

You need to go level your sub. Honestly man, do you have any idea how easy it is to get a job to level 18, compared to later levels? Besides, it makes your main job stronger, and it's free.

Yeah, the dunes suck, but I'll tell you one thing: without a properly leveled sub, the jungles are going to suck for you as well.

Good luck.

EDIT: As far as your money issue, having THF leveled will help you there as well. Treasure Hunter comes at 15, and will increase your money-making ability substantially. Once you have TH, you could kill crawlers for silk thread (~10k a stack on Leviathan). Three stacks and you'll have your new sword.

Wait, sword? No no no, please, for the sake of WARs everywhere, get a Neckchopper. I hope you've been leveling Gaxe.

WARs are A+ with Great Axe, and only B+ with Great Sword. You might as well run around with a Staff as a Gswd.

Partied here today at lvl 25 and reached 27 the same game. Well if was my first time here and I find this place great. If u are a WHM cast BARSLEEPRA when the puller comes with the pray, and then go backline, the furthest, the better, so MND attack wont affect you and you wont be slept by the Sleep attack from mandras, if you have another WHM in pt, cure him in order to wake him up and help you waking up the other guys. Since this mobs are crappy and easy, you can make good exp chains here. Just keep in mind those baddass smithies and zone if you are in danger!

Previously I would have wondered what you meant, but I had a wierd weekend that way.

I was waiting twice over an hour (as a WHM) to get a PT in Yuhtunga this weekend. Once I got one, we made huge XP per hour... but it was insane how few parties were there compared to normal.

There has to be at least ten goblins zoned every five minutes. The spam of "Gobbie to zone. {Run Away}" is horrible, even worse at some points then quest/mission/genkai shouts in Jeuno. I'm only a level 26 thief (there are about 3 other thieves seeking at the same time) so invites can take a while to come. Like Valkrum, the entrance to kazham is usually guarded by several high levels. My first time here, I decided to join them (based on my modest success killing damselflies and goblins at Valkrum). You can guess when happened as soon as I tried to take on a train of 4 goblin smithies.

Used Perfect Dodge, called for help, and prayed that my new armor would come through for me. Luckily some of the people around me noticed a level 26 trying to solo 4 gobbies, and came to my aid. In the end, perfect dodge ended, and the one smithy that was still on me (sneak attack+gust slash can earn some hate) double-hit me for a KO. I was raised by a whm, even though my hp was right next to me. There were many lols and lmaos in my linkshell and in the surrounding parties. ^_^ Just thought I'd share some of my adventures here. Anyone else have some stories of Gate Guarding gone amok?

This is by far the most amusing zone to watch trains to anywhere on Vana'diel. Valkrum and qufim might be fun, but there's enough room to move around and the expable areas in those zones are much larger. Furthermore, nothing else has this kind of bottleneck. Also, the things trained here require a higher level to kill compared to those zones (probably 40-45+ to take out a small train).
Honestly, I don't mind doing 'gate duty' here when I'm bored... it's easy skill-ups on new weapons up to ~100 and is proving very useful while I try to skill-up ranged weapons (way slower). Seriously, any possible mob in this zone, and it'll get trained. Gobs, monkeys that linked, wasps, crawlers, the marlbol... hell people have ever lived long enough (somehow) to drag Sahgain from near Sea Grotto all the way here. Easy to raise people, also, as I can just run back into Kazham for an MP recharge @ the moogle.

If you think that's funny, then what about Yhoator(sp?) Jungle? In there, the zones are tight and always crowded with someone zoning goblin smithies and pathfinders, with occasional robbers and furriers. It's just crazy trying to exp in them with goblins running all over the place and eventually landing right inside your camp. I hope I can make it to 32 quickly, and get out of Kazham areas.

Great link, thanks. I think it's so much better in english, and overtop of the in-game map. I printed it out to keep next to the computer. With flee, I made it back with minimal damage on my first try, should only get easier when I level my su, before coming back with advanced jobs.

Actually I like how you drew directly on the map better than those Japanese maps. Both are good though but the *** maps are kind of confusing to match with the actual map at first. However the *** map of this does include the zone FROM Ifrit's Cauldren, might want to add that to your map. (I said FROM b/c you can't enter from this zone). Good work!

I'm a Mithra, 25 THF/12 MNK, and can't get an invite even if I cease to annoy people into doing it. I tried making a party but the mages always get snapped up too fast. I sat there yesterday, a saturday, during North American peak time, for 6 hours in Kazham waiting for an invite to no avail.

What's the problem? Is it my hair? Do people just not like me? Any tips at all here would be great. I'm on Fairy by the way.

TuxedoSox it all takes time, I have logged on plenty of times with my Warrior and Dragoon and there are just all-full parties. I usually go under Party and go to find member and see how many others are looking and in Kazam there is usually a bunch. You have to be in the right place at the right time when someone leaves a group or one disbands. The only place I have seen that I have seen that Whm and Rdm do not get snatched up is in the Citadel. So that is going to happen, every ones and a while throw a /shout out saying is anyone getting ready to leave, LFG and someone will reply back give me 2 minutes or so, do to someone leveling to 28 and going into the Jungle deeper. Just experience keep your head up, we have all sat around before.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed in any forum or not. I was pulling in Yuhtunga yesterday and noticed an NPC in H-6, behind the rock in the NW corner of the area. I tried to talk to him, but got aggroed by a Gob and had to get out of town. When I went back, he was gone and I haven't seen him since.

Does anyone know what he is there for? I haven't found him listed anywhere and he's not listed here.

I saw the gob npc as well, but since we had already killed the gobs in the area, I got to talk to him. It seems he wants the Quadav Fetich pieces. So, I thought, cool I'll just go kill some Quadavs on my way to do the Dark Knight Flag. But, as you might have guessed, when I returned he was nowhere to be found and I havent seen him since. (I plan on camping him soon though, as this is driving me nuts)

Gob is actually looking for 4 pieces collected in that area. The pieces there drop off of the Fishy men in Sea serpent grotto. The reward is a mermaid ring. He also appears in West Altepa, and the pieces are collected off of ant's. He appears somewhere else as well, but I don't remember.. I'm tired. :)
