Has anyone exped here in the upper 60's? I remember someone mentioning you can exp here but i want a bit of information. If you have any info on bones exp for gustav, please share^^

Yes you can. I am exping here at 65-66 PT off IT++s. It is quite easy but we also have a Monk with us. We kill bones and fishes. The Doom Guards are biotches tho. Try to avoid them, they have much higher Defense then the others.
Come back here around 56-58ish. North of Bune zone is a tunnel that leads to Gob Alchemist Shepards and Robber Crabs. Accumulated 2k xp in a half hour or so. Only downfall is that mages (RDM myself) take a lot of hate with a NIN tank.
At this level i had a little trouble holding hate as ninja but i think it's because i didn't quite know all about hate at that point, also the mages need to be careful when using magic not to go crazy with it and to know what builds hate and what doesn't(it's not always the tanks's fault guy's).Once everyone has a good understanding of how hate works, hate control is easy. Try forming a static party for leveling...that way you get to know how each member does things and you can communicate to each other strategies of amongst other things "hate control".Good luck and have fun =)

This is a great alternative place to Crawlers Nest for levels between 38-42 (if you are 38 you better get a good party... bard or whm,rdm,blm,nin, whm,mnk...). You need a raiser, keep that in mind, high level use to pass by to kape whatever but wont raise.
Gustav can hold around 3 parties I think, so use the sea command before partying there. It is used to be camped by JP players, so dont worry, they use to be nice persons.
Keep levels together, since level gaps really hit hard. Begin with Hell Bats(link)38, then move to Gobs (Robbers and Poachers)39, then try Reapers40-42, or keep pulling gobs. I wont recomend flies, cos their AoE, but can be killed aswell, I dont know if they link, but Gobs are easier and same exp. By the way, a Ls friend told me that theres a NM gob spawning here, so be careful.
Once someone hits 43, the exp will drown, so find some replacements.
I leveled 2 levels here with my BLM, this was the formation: WAR/NIN, RDM, THF, BRD, MNK,BLM. I hope this helps.
PD: get used to alternative leveling places, it makes the game experience better.

I agree with you. 37-42 this is the greatest place to level. Hardly any parties in here and we were chaining 3-5 before completely resting and it's true, 43+ kills the exp here. CN is always over crowded, GC too many holes, EN, not worth it.
Go all the way to the NW corner of Valkurm Dunes (as displayed on the map) and you will find a tunnel to the secret beach.
Go through this tunnel and you get to the beach, where the stone for part of the Bard job quest is located. This area also has leeches, pugils and snippers (I forget if more ATM).
Go out into the water at the SW part of the secret beach and there is a tunnel sort of hidden behind some trees - go through there and you will zone into Gustav Tunnel.

There are also 3 gobs that hang out in the water in front of the gustav tunnel entrance. They've broken up their fair share of lower level parties hunting snips and pugs ^_^
anyone who can hook up some thieves with chest locations for Gustav? The website I have has almost all of the areas, but of course, Gustav not being on of them. Thanks

they are all easy to find but look at http://freett.com/liene/index.html has all the maps and the enemies that drop the keys and the items in the chest ect..

If you want to get to cape terrigan do not come in from this zone because it will take you to a dead end. If you want to go to cape terrigan/valley of sorrows/cloister of gales go through the kuftal tunnel.

Good spot for EXP, 40-43

This is a pretty good spot for a party to get some exp at around levels 40-43. I recommend fighting the goblins near the zone: reapers, poachers, and robbers. They are good exp and don't really hit that hard for their level, except of course for their goblins bombs. They don't drop any really good loot, but they do drop gil and a thief can steal their mythril beastcoins. Keep the mages back, as they have a tendency to suicide goblin bomb for 400+ dmg.
While it is possible to kill the Hell Bats and the flies, we found the goblins to be the easier of the three.
Reapers drop very nice loot. Stun and Absorb spells are very useful, wether to sell or for your use. Of course, Absorb spells will only be useful for Dark Knights, but Black Mages should pick up this spell. It's very much like the Paladin's shield bash, or the Dark Knight's weapon bash, except I've never failed a stun on IT creatures.
This area is a Rise of the Zilart area, so before trying to access it, please make sure you have registered your expansion.
I don't know how low a level you can be to gain access, or if there is even a restriction, but I must warn you that anyone less than 50-60 will be killed on the spot. Traverse with care. ^^

Im a lvl 40 Red Mage and we have been getting alot of nice xp there. Now you may be right that on the solo route you should be of high lvl. But I do not see your point as a party. lvl 38-40 group can get nice xp there and chain hell bats for 240-250 xp. Provided you have taken the time to form a good party. Phally 2 damage dealers white mage red mage is a good example. Good Luck!!!
I dont know why everyone thinks you need to keep deodorize on, mobs dont DETECT by scent, they TRACK you by scent, ex. you have a tiger after you, and it loses sight you use deodorize and ta-dah its not after you.
