Now you just run around the corner and head south to that dead end. The west wall is an illusion!! You can run through that wall and there you go...Strange Apparatus. ^^
I can't find how to get to this strange apparatus! NO map that I've been on shows exactly how to get to that corridor! Does anyone know? Does it have something to do with the tallow candle?

Thank you i found this post very helpful. I had been looking at the map and dropping down at point D. Thank you for pointing out the drop-down just above where D is that lands you on the other side of the wall. This should be marked on the map as a separate drop from D, as this and D do not land you at the same area.

I heard the coffer chest pops there more often, I have the map and I know how to get there, is there any safe area I can stand in so I won't get an aggro by anything so I can wait, I got murdered by a Skull of Wraith after standing next to the candle for awhile... so where should I stand to get no aggro and wait for the chest to pop, thanks!
I remember having an exp pt here but I forgot what lvl I was when I did it. It was one of the best exp pts I ever had. We were fighting Gazers and getting dark crystals like crazy. By the time the pt ended I had 4 stacks of dark crystals. If anyone knows what lvl would be ok to get exp here please let me know^^
man, sometimes this game just gets to me. It is so completely about teamwork and because of that you need to do your job right. If you mess up, that means someone else (me) has to pay the consequences for your unsatisfactory playing. I was in here helping some noobs get their papyrus and let's just say it was a disaster in particular the WHM was a complete tard who never cast Protect ONCE on us even though i kept asking for it. Even though a high lvl is helping you please play your job, ok? Oh, and don't voke mobs and run in front of every skeleton in the whole place and just stay put at the camp thanks bunches you noobs. I'm really wondering if I should even bother helping these people anymore since I have to pay for their mistakes.
Here is some advice for those players who don't want to be level 50 forever:
1. Follow instructions 2. Do NOT wander around randomly - I even put this in caps so my noobs would see it. Did they stay put at the camp? Nooooo they wandered in the door, the door closes, trouble ensues, they act like noobs, they are noobs. 3. Actually play your job (go figure huh) - The White Mage did absolutely NOTHING. They grudgingly handed out a cure after being slapped 5 times over. And no protect. If you want your quest item, I'm sorry, there are NO freebees you will have to play your job. 4. Actually use your two hour ability when you are supposed to - neither of the noob melee jobs did this when they should've. As Bill Cosby says when describing "these brain damaged people" they were like "I don't knowwwwww"

What is in the Empire of Aht Urhgan...? Just treasure..? Something else...? Is the Divine Empress a reborn Altana on earth..? I wonder what is in store for us.
I had to translate this manually to figure out where the coffers were. This map doesn't show the coffer locations. The RED NUMBERS what are Circled mark Treasure Chest Locations, as well as the Locations where Doors can block your way. The Switches all over the upstairs area work in a 2-fold manner.. flip it once and Half the doors open, and the other half close. Switch the switch again, and the reverse happens. The Easiest switch you get to is located in H-8 behind the Gravestone. An Azer roams this area, and unlike the Undead who sence by Hearing, The Azer senses by Sight and Magic. If you're a Lv 52, it'll con DC, but it's Explosion is still deathly potent. Anyways, The First 3 coffer locations are in the large rooms to the North, West, and South, marked each as B, C, and D. All the LETTERS in those areas mark where you can zone into other parts of the map. If you are upstairs, you'll see sandy areas in these large rooms.. These are illusions, and you will fall in them. A from upstairs leads to A Downstairs, and the rest falls the same to each other letter. Hope this helps a little
the red circled numbers are not chest locations. they are torches for the "save my sister" quest the numbers are the order in which you light the lantern after doing the quest i read this post, and laughed

There are 4 on the top floor when entering closest to Jeuno. Two of these spots you'll need invis/tonko for the Azer's. Otherwise, sneak throughout.
4 are on the send floor. 2 are by the Hume bones (M-11 & M-10) area - rooms with Dark Stalkers. One is located at L-11 on the second floor map above (drop through G-9 on the first floor to reach this spot). Finally, the hardest one is located at E-6 by the Skull of Wrath NM - which can only be reached through Beaucedine Glacier.
This place sucks. It's so dark and stuff. I got a coffer key on my first kill as well, but have been looking for the actual coffer for 3 and a half hours and no luck. Damn you, Eldieme Necropolis!
What i did was just camp one spot where the coffer chest popped. It might take awhile but if you get lucky it might just be a few min. Just watch out for aggro.
Compared to the map on this site, its a life saver.

Help me out, I got a strong curse put on me when I was waiting inside the entrance of Eldieme for other members to arrive for a 50 cap quest party. Someone zoned undead right to me. The curse has been on for a few hours now and I was wondering how long it lasts.
ok! here's what you do to get down to the island to get that stone monument.
NOTE: please make sure you and your partner have sneak and invis. whether it's potions or magic.
Enter into Eldieme Necropolis at I-10 in Battalia Downs remember to sneak up before going anywhere. once you get into Eldieme Necropolis run straight until you get to where you either go left or right. lake a left so that you are going South on the map.
Now, go to H-9 in a room with four doors, 2 will be closed. you should be at "Titans Gate". now one of you wait there at the South Door.
The second person needs to keep going straight through until you reach the big room at F-8. at this point before you go into the room stop and invis. look to your right and you will see stairs that go up into a little room. there is usually and Azer in there (which is why you invised). run into the back and you will see the switch hit that switch and make sure your partner gets through. now hit it again. now invis again to get past the Azer and head back the way you came until you get to the door again. (Note: you can also get to the same area by going to the 4 door room at F-9 and standing at the south gate).
OK. Now, the person that in the door. Run to the big room. (NOTE: DO NOT RUN ON THE PATCHES THROUGOUT THE ROOM, STAY ON THE PATH) invis up, run to the right side (or left depending on which way you're coming from), past the Azer floating around and up to the switch. make sure your friend is at the door ready to enter. hit the switch. now meet in the big room.
ok, now that you're back together run onto the middle patch. in the middle of that patch there is an ivisible hole. drop down (which is that "D" you see up there on the map).
now you are on the home stretch BUT KEEP READING!
if you have a map you know where to go to get out. if you don't it's pretty straight forward, just keep running straight, (look that the far right map up there at the top, that's the map you'll be at the "E" on it.) STOP WHEN YOU ZONE.
BE CAREFUL!!!!! there is a NM called Ahtu Tree (lvl 51-52) for a quest in Sandy that drops the "Engraved Key" now when i came there the first time i was with a lvl 60 Sam that waisted the him pretty easy.(being a whm myself) i didn't have to cure him much either. So anyway unless you and your partner can handle him stay away.
follow the wall to the right side and at the very edge of the island you'll find the monument.
to get back out, head back to Eldieme Necropolis basically keep going straight to that little "F" there on that map up there. which will also take you the "F" on the first map, you're right by the zone. drop off the ledge and take a right. keep running and you're zoned! conegratulations, you did it.
And that concludes my Stone Monument Walk Through.
Could someone please tell me where i enter Eldieme Necropolis in Batallia Downs so i can get to the exit in Eldieme Necropolis that takes me to the Island in Batallia Downs .. i hope that makes sence oh and i need to know where the exit in Eldieme is

unfortunately, i have not had any luck with the coffer spawn point on the glacier side of eldieme, i got there a couple of days ago and have been logging right next to the tallow candle close to the spawn point, its out of the way from the utukku, but anyways, ive been thee for a couple days now and seen nothing.....starting to lose hope, i dont want to leave in search of another coffer because it was a real pain going thru the glacier to get here
Edit: i take that back, i just got coffer, i recommend this spawn point becuase the utukku dont aggro by sight, as long as your sneaked and deoderized you can open the coffer without a problem, i had my brother come with me to help get me thru the glacier and eldieme safely, hes only a 29 whm but it worked nicely, so if you dont mind a long trek to get to there...then go right ahead, theres never anyone there and the coffer will be yours for the taking

I've tried to get there with a friend to get the monument on Battalia Island 35 RDM, 29 WHM
No real problem to sneak and stay a little safe (except bomb that have sight aggro ... killed me with 3 hits) i've activated the switch to open Titan's gate and my friend enter in the south room, but there he was a little lost, does he need to go north to activate the switch to open the door to me ? For more in the East room there is a broken door behind the switch that i couldnt get thru, so if i look at the post under mine, i could have acces to point A from all other room except East one ? I will certainly try this quest tonight again (if my friend wants it) and i dont want to die, anyway it is real cool to go that place and manage to get to the island with no real high lvl. I've tried many times to ask for help in there but seem like ppl really dont care about others that's weird.

A couple posts ago, someone asked about the "door puzzle". Haven't seen it answered yet, so here it is:
in each of the 4 large open rooms from the I-10 entrance (the leftmost map on this page), on the side of the room closest to the point marked "A" on the map here, there is a "plate" (south plate, west plate, east plate, north plate). Selecting the plate and hitting enter (while invisible is de-activated, watch out for aggro from the bomb-type mob "Azer") causes the doors to switch. There are doors at the points marked by red 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the left map, and also at the inside of each loop, closing off access to point "A" (where you can drop down to the hume bones and kill lich's for papyrus, dark stalkers for tavnazian bells, and tomb mages/tomb warriors for coffer keys)
It is impossible to get to the north or south rooms alone in the necropolis (the south room is where you drop down to get to the island for the stone monument, btw), you need to stand in the room with the doors, lich's, and fallen knights, while someone hits the switch for you, then you can go to the south room and operate the switch there to get them through also.
This is also a pain because there are only 4 coffer spawns that I know of that are reachable on your own, those being 2 in the west room, one in the northern entrance only accessible from Beaucedine Glacier, and one that you drop down from the west room and go north, then east. The rest require manipulation of the switches, and therefor another person willing to help out.
I hate this zone more than any other zone in the entire game. It's a pain to get around, you HAVE to come here for genkai 1, I HAD to come here for my AF coffer (paladin gloves), the mobs are overly strong (thank god they're not linking, just aggressive), the status effects are terrible, and it's just not a nice place in general. Having said that, it's somewhere you have to learn to get around at some point in the game, and the northern entrance, while it takes a while to get to, is GREAT for papyrus farming, and the gil farming just outside is also one of the best places in the game (tigers and treants galor).
p.s. if you're having trouble finding the coffer, make the trip north through Beaucedine, all 4 times I've checked there, the coffer has been there, people don't like to run all the way around "just in case it's there", so it gets stuck there a lot.

...Which brings me to my next point, kids. Don't do drugs.
To get to the island on the south side of Battalia Downs you have to go through the Necropolis. The entrance to the part of the necropolis that leads to the island is the bunker closest to the island.
I have been in there a couple of times and died once, there seems to be some kind of a door puzzle that has to be solved to gain access to the lower section which will give you access to the island. Anyone figured this out yet? Please post if you have and how you do it, thanks!
The min level for fighting there should be lowered to 35-40. Gazers can be killed by a group of 6 with little trouble in that range. We killed a Lost Soul but nearly all died so it wasn't really worth it. The Gazers also have good drops like dark crytals and mercury which both sell for a nice price. I beleive ony one entrance gets you to the Gazers.
there is alot of entrances to necropolis scattered all over battalia downs... just head over into a "shelter entrance" found on almost every hill, if u're lucky, the zone point is at the back... if not... it's just a wall ^^;

If someone wants to help us to get there we are on Fairy, u can talk to Darwiz or Kojiki
in each of the 4 large open rooms from the I-10 entrance (the leftmost map on this page), on the side of the room closest to the point marked "A" on the map here, there is a "plate" (south plate, west plate, east plate, north plate). Selecting the plate and hitting enter (while invisible is de-activated, watch out for aggro from the bomb-type mob "Azer") causes the doors to switch. There are doors at the points marked by red 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the left map, and also at the inside of each loop, closing off access to point "A" (where you can drop down to the hume bones and kill lich's for papyrus, dark stalkers for tavnazian bells, and tomb mages/tomb warriors for coffer keys)
It is impossible to get to the north or south rooms alone in the necropolis (the south room is where you drop down to get to the island for the stone monument, btw), you need to stand in the room with the doors, lich's, and fallen knights, while someone hits the switch for you, then you can go to the south room and operate the switch there to get them through also.
This is also a pain because there are only 4 coffer spawns that I know of that are reachable on your own, those being 2 in the west room, one in the northern entrance only accessible from Beaucedine Glacier, and one that you drop down from the west room and go north, then east. The rest require manipulation of the switches, and therefor another person willing to help out.
I hate this zone more than any other zone in the entire game. It's a pain to get around, you HAVE to come here for genkai 1, I HAD to come here for my AF coffer (paladin gloves), the mobs are overly strong (thank god they're not linking, just aggressive), the status effects are terrible, and it's just not a nice place in general. Having said that, it's somewhere you have to learn to get around at some point in the game, and the northern entrance, while it takes a while to get to, is GREAT for papyrus farming, and the gil farming just outside is also one of the best places in the game (tigers and treants galor).
p.s. if you're having trouble finding the coffer, make the trip north through Beaucedine, all 4 times I've checked there, the coffer has been there, people don't like to run all the way around "just in case it's there", so it gets stuck there a lot.

I have been in there a couple of times and died once, there seems to be some kind of a door puzzle that has to be solved to gain access to the lower section which will give you access to the island. Anyone figured this out yet? Please post if you have and how you do it, thanks!

just head over into a "shelter entrance" found on almost every hill, if u're lucky, the zone point is at the back... if not... it's just a wall ^^;
