Description

The Orcs once used Elvaan slaves to dig this tunnel, which was originally intended to lead all the way under the walls of the San d'Orian citadel. However, the short-tempered Orcs soon found that their plan would be far more difficult to carry out than they previously thought, so they simply gave up their pursuit of the project.

I've been mining Yughott forever..well since I hit lvl 33 and usually with a stack of 3 pickaxes I can get enough iron for one stack of iron ignots and usually one or two gold ore. Darksteel is a pain to find here. I find the best time for it is the day before darksday. And mining is only possible in the 5 rooms of the lower grotto, but fear not, there are enough mining spots to keep 4 miners very busy :)

The Ghelspa chest spawns in one of 13 or so locations in both the Grotto and Ghelspa Fort.
In the grotto, the spawn points are all in "nooks" around the rooms - usually, there's a short stone outcropping as a little wall behind which they will spawn. In the Fort, they spawn inside certain tents, mostly in the eastern half of Fort.
The grotto is broken into two sections. The lower, larger section has three passages to other zones - two to Fort Ghelspa (one near the top, one near the bottom) and one to Ghelspa Outpost (just to the south of the WRF zone; it's not on the map).
The second section of the Grotto is not connected to the first and only accessible from the very top of Fort Ghelspa. This section has two zone points to the Peak, one with the burning circle and one with the hot springs (also where you come out of the Burning Circle fight).
I'm surprised no one's loaded a map for this zone; would make these discussions easier.

Does anyone know where the chest spawns for the Ghelsba key? Is it either grotto or just the hrder one?

Lets make things clear once and for all.

There are 2 different Yughott grotto's.

YG1 has 3 exits the southern leads to ghelsba outpost, the middle and the northern leads to ghelsba fort.

YG2 Is a different grotto, you enter if from the top of the mountain in Ghelsba Fort, run upwards untill you cant go no further, run in to the hut and in to the cave in the back.

YG2 has 3 exits, you will enter from the west. The southern exit leads to the Peaks and the "hot spring", The notrhern exit is also to the peaks but this time it leas to the "ring of fire"

YG2 Is not recommended for characters below lev 20, since the monsters are fairly high level, think cursmakers, fighters, Serjants, Stealth bats.

Dude, it is the same grotto tard. Explore an area before you open your mouth. I know of 3 entrances. the one to the southwest. beginning of Outpost entrance, midway up to the north ( fort entrance, if looking at map lower side of fort map just off first circle) and the one behind the tent after you fight the orcish fighter, which takes you to the northeeast most ent to the Grotto. I too have not found the entrance to the pEak and if anyone know please post it.

The funny thing with this post is how he dis the guy who tells the truth, tells him to get a clue. And then he asks the way to the Peaks :D
I couldnt stop laughing when i read it.

RE: Burning Circle
# Feb 03 2004 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
At the very top^^
Go all the way trough the cave, then zone into Fort Gelsba and keep to your left. Run past some huts and up a road ( Still only one way ) untill you come to a hut with a orcish serjant, cursemaker or fighter in it with a road leading in to the mountain. follow that road and you will be in the top of yuggoth grotto. From here exits to Horias Oeak and the flaming circle can be found...

There are two yugotto grotto zones... the one you want is at the top of the fort, not the one at the beginning of the outpost zone.

To get to the peak and the burning circle you have to enter the cave behind the tent at J-8 in Fort Gelshba, as far as I can tell the two parts of this zone do not connect so if you take the other caves you cannot get to the peak. So the first poster was indeed correct, no need to call him a tard.
dragon...?!

My buddy degenxerate and i (gaara) were working on the Hot Spring water quest when we stumbled upon the San d'oria dragon Burning Seal! Anyone have any idea how to activate it? Granted we were only lv 20 and basicly sprinted past all 20 Orcish Fighters and such...but it would be nice to know how to activate the dragon so we can go back and kill it some time.

the windurst mission (yes, windurst) 'the three kingdoms' requires you to travel to bastok and san d'oria and do quests for the consulates there. the san d'oria quest wants you to investigate why the orcs are being organized, well-trained, and well-equipped...according to guides i've read, you have to fight and kill the dragon. i don't know if there is any other way to activate the dragon, but a lvl requirement of 20-25 might do it.

Close...

Basically, Mission 6 for all three nations sends you to the other two nations. So Bastok and Windurst both send you to San D'oria. You can choose which nation to visit first, and whichever nation you save for last is the one that has the dragon fight.

So if San D'oria is one of the nations you need to visit, and you visit it first, you'll be sent to kill the orc warchief. If you visit San D'oria second, then when you visit your nation's embassy, you'll be given a key that will allow you to access the circle and fight the dragon.

In order to fight the dragon, you must meet one of two conditions.

1.) You have the key to the circle provided by your embassy (the key disappears when you defeat the dragon).
2.) You have already beaten any of the three dragons (one for each nation), and are assisting someone else with their own dragon fight (someone with the key in your group must enter the circle before those helping can enter).

Not to be super **** or anything, but this is Mission 2-3, _not_ Mission 6. Yes, it can be your 6th mission, but that is not what it is called.

By handing crystals to the conquest guards, you can skip Mission 2-2 for sure, and I believe a few others as well.

Once you get your country's Mission 2-3 make sure to talk to the NPC that they say you need to talk to before going to the other side of the world. This will be an NPC in your home country - and you need to get instructions and a letter (key item) from them.

Then go to whichever of the other two countries that you feel like visiting first. Speak to the ambassador from your country there both before and after you kill the boss for that country.

The first country will give you a semi-easy boss (of course this depends on your level) to kill, and the second country will give you a dragon - regardless of which one you go to first.

I'm from Windurst and so I went to Sandy first and spoke to the Windy consulate. They told me to see another NPC who told me that my task was to kill Warchief Vatgit (an NM in Ghelsba). After killing him, I spoke to the Windy counsulate in Sandy again and they gave me a letter (key item) that finished off the first half of the mission.

Then I went to Bastok and spoke at the Windy consulate. They told me to talk to an NPC who told me there were 'problems in the Palborough Mines to deal with' or something along those lines.

So I went to the Palborough Mines. The Burning Circle is on the 3rd floor to the South of the river (where the 'burn' on the map is). This BC is actually in an area called 'Waughroon Shrine' or something like that, but the zone to it is where I said.

My 'puter kicked me off right as my PT leader triggered the fight (damn Norton Internet Security popups), so I have to complete the dragon fight still. Once the BC is triggered you go in and see a cutscene and will have to fight a dragon and a beholder type critter (I forget FFXI name) - the strategy that I hear that works best is to sleep the dragon and kill the beholder first, then take out the dragon.

After it is dead, go back to Windy consulate in Bastok. I don't know if they give you another letter to take home to consulate in Windy, or if you get Rank 3 right then and there, but you've basically completed it at this point.

The missions for the other two nations are very similar - in fact players from Sandy that begin their mission in Windy will have to kill the Bastok dragon to finish their mission.
