I am now camping him again for the third joyeus drop in three days for another hnmls member. WE have beaten this mob with a pt of four with no brd. A rdm is very helpful when fighting this mob, and if you have a dd that is /sam he can ws quite a few times. I myself am a 75drk/37sam so i absorp him to nothingingness and just ws on him with meditate and absorp tp. Count your nins shadows and stun when it's needed. Really guys, this mob isn't as hard as you all make him seem. Just takes people knowing how to do their jobs.
Need to specify: You talk to Bou the Righteous at H-11 on the map behind the Gold door(There are multiple maps: The main one and one behind each door). He's in an area not visible on the map, behind a door, in a treasure room similar to the one Hurr the Betrayer is in. You open the Gold door with a Gold Beastcoin.
So in order for us to get past the ornimental door, we need to talk to an NPC behind the gold door? And the gold door is behind the ornimental door... So how is this possible?? Lol im prolly reading the map wrong, can someone help me here?

i got to the silver door (N-14) and it said "nothing out of the ordinary"...i tried trading a silver beastcoin and nothing happened. Is there anythng i need to do 1st? why cant i open door?
Keep examining the door. You need to examine it several times until it says something to the effect of: "You see some silver shavings fall from the door." That's when you trade the silver coin.

Does anyone know when the *HELL* the fish started being the biggest bitches in the world to fight? They never used to do this.. Every time I go to fight them, they keep moving around. They will *NOT* stay still. They keep slowly walking in a circle around me, which is constantly screwing up my weapon skills and my friends SA.. It's driving me *insane*. And no, it's not a hate issue, I flash it and just stand there and it slowly walks around me.
By any chance do you put on /follow while you're fighting the mob, maybe in your attack macro for PT's, so that you can chase the mob if it goes after mages? (which you should never do anyways, always try to pull it back to you, away from the mages, don't chase)
If so, I've found that putting /follow on while you're fighting causes the mob to move around, I assume because it's chasing you, so to speak. By putting /follow on, you move out of it's attack zone, much the same as backing away, and then it chases you (in effect) repositioning itself to be able to hit you. But then, that causes you to move because it moved and you're on /follow, creating a loop of move and countermove.
I'm putting all the info at the top so it's easier to access.
To obtain a map, get a treasure chest key dropped off of: Rivulet Sahagin Brook Sahagin Riparian Sahagin Ghast Ooze Grotto Pugil Iron Shell Big Claw Vampire Bat These can all be found to the left of the ornamented door, except the Big Claw and Ghasts which are outside and around the Norg entrance. Treasure Chests spawn anywhere behind the silver door and in 2 spots outside the silver door to the left. The silver door is opened by trading a silver beastcoin to it and it appears as a blank wall.
To open the Ornamented Door: Talk to Bou the Righteous at H-11 and then go to Hurr the Betrayer (located next to the Utsusemi:Ichi ??? behind the silver door) and he will ask for a norg shell and 3 mythril beastcoins. You can NOT zone between talking to Bou and Hurr or you will have to start over, so no {Escape}ing. Hurr will give you a sahagin key which will then break when you trade it to the Ornamented Door. To get more Sahagin Keys, you will have to trade a norg shell and gold beastcoin the next time. Mobs only aggro to sound, at least anywhere not behind the Oranemented Door.

This was mentioned along time ago but nobody answered it and I was hopeing someone could. Does anyone know how to get past the Ornamented Door? I'm trying to get to the mindgazers back there with a friend or 2 of mine to get our O-hat's and the area with the ledge is camped alot. Any info would be greatly appriciated thanks =) . (I also herd this is the area to get to a BCNM area through this door and there is a quest to get the key witch opens the door but breaks after you use it, just some things I've herd not sure if ture though)
This key opens the ornamented door in Sea Serpent Grotto. On this map you find the ornamented door at J-11, the gold beastcoin door at I-14, and the silver beastcoin door at N-14. You use this key, then it breaks.

I think it's a coffer area map. Which means you need a coffer key and get have to look around to find the chest. Which won't be easy but all you need is Sneak or Silent Oils.
How the heck do I get through the Ornamented Door? I have done my ninja scroll quest as you can tell im a lvl 56 ninja, but I cant get through the door to get my af feet and I want to be able to run 25% faster lol! PLEASE HELP!

When you zone in from Yuhtunga, just stick to the right-side wall. If you're below LV55 (i think that's the limit) you better bring Oils or have a way to Sneak yourself. Invis is not needed.
OK, to kinda finalise all threads asking how to get a map to this place. The map can be obtained by either opening a treasure chest or a treasure coffer inside Sea Serpent Grotto(Yes both types have them). I love this place, i love Elshmo region, lots a fun, and good place to have fun and explore. almost like the time i went to excabard at lvl 15 @_@; just for fun. mind u i used alot of prism powder and a oil >.<!!! anyways if someone get back to the map...it be great of you!!

You have to get it by obtaining a chest key and finding the chest. The first item you receive when opening a chest in this area should be the Map of Sea Serpent Grotto.
Im going to be a level 30 Thief soon. would I be able to use some sort of lock picks, or thief tools to open the chest instead? or would opening it at my level w/o help be a bad idea?
What level do you need to be to safely move from the entrance to Norg, then from norg to the Tonko and Utsusemi quest destinations without sneak? If I don't need to buy the silent oil, I won't.

Thanks for the response. I made a run this weekend and found at lv. 49, it isn't too hard to make it to Norg without oil. A few of the ghasts and Ironshells conned ep, but I suspect at lv. 50, they will no longer aggro.
Looks like I will be grabbing some silent oil for the two quests....after I get some more fame.

According to the page, Ghasts and Ironshells drop the chest key. You know what that means? You can just camp right outside Norg for the key. You don't have to do all the BS these posters say.
Once you get your key, run inside norg and grab a silver coin. Then choco back out to get to the entrance of Sea Serpent Grotto then re-enter (helps having HP in Norg).
To get to the Silver Shavings door just make all lefts once your inside until you get to the lake.
Theres two Chest points on the path left from the lake. Check there before going through the door.
The rest you'll just have to refer to the map on the link.

That makes no sense to put an area in the game and have no way of getting the map without having a map of the area. I know that sounds confusing because I confused myself when I typed it. I just want to know how the higher levels got the map. Did they just stumble around and find it or was it given out when the game started? I know the creators of the game want everyone to play together and get help from people who already know what they're doing, but lets be real, a lot of higher levels I've met are very rude. There has to be some way of getting this map without all this trouble.

To get to the mobs that drops the chest key, keep left when you enter sea serpent grotto. Continue on the path until you see and area with Rivulet & Brook Sahagin. Kill the mobs in that area to get the key. It should be a place with a big pool of water in the middle. There'd usually a few people fishing there.
After you get the key, go through a door that can only be opened by a Silver Beastcoin that is located between 2 falls of water (N-13) The area behind the door is where most of the chest spawn is.
It's soorta hard... you need to go deep down to unmarked area of the caves, kill the crabs/sharigan's down their till you get a grotto key, open chest if you can find it and you'll get a key item map (dosen't help much since the vault area/norg path isn't on map)
Can you be more specific? There is no info on this site about a Sea Serpent Grotto Chest Key.
What are the names of the mobs that drops it? (There's a bunch of versions of crabs here)
Where is this umarked area where they spawn? Which map and pos?
If you have a good party you can level here at level 32... I was invited to a Japanese party that leveled here, we fought some sahagins and bats right at the sea grotto/yuhtunga zone. Great exp....

He is the Sahagin that gives the statue you're seeking to the Norg resident you talked to. That man is basically the go-between between the pirates of Norg and the Sahagin.
yes this is a complete catch 22 I found my map totally by accident. I was running around doing some norg quests with my high lvl thf. Found a chest and thought woohoo, here comes lots of gil or maybe a nice item. Got the map to this place instead. I picked the lock with a thief tool, didn't bother getting a key ^_^;
In general, you may want to consult someone who already has a map for help in getting it, unless of course you find it by accident like the above person..... ;)
here, sum1 else posted this on the SAM quest comments, its maps of the jungle and the grotto... 2 bad they r in japenese, but hopefully they will help:
Yahutunga whatever jungle when you enter go down straight toward outpost. Their is a hole near the outpost (near the cliff) drop down and head to the 2 rivers take the one up north (longest one on map)
TO get to norg from tunnel take every right turn (and use silent oil alot, I used invis also for the sharigan whatevers incase...)
GO through the unmarked door take a right every turn (don't go through the 2nd unmarked door) just keep going till you see wall pillars with torches go through to norg.
To get a map of sea serpent tunnel... i don't see any trail leading to sea serpent grotto... from khazam, do you get to sea serpent grotto by going through the forests? I see it on the regional info, but i'm still kinda confused
Monsters to watch out for along the way are Sahuagin and Ghasts. There are only a few Sahuagin, and they're fairly easy to slip past if you're careful and take your time. The Ghasts are found just past the door (you'll know it when you see it), and are thick enough that they require Sneak to get past.
you go there through khazam, good luck tho, the dungeon outside norg is all aggro 40+ monsters, and the quest for the pass is even harder, not cuz of the monsters but for the rarity of key drops

After you get the key, go through a door that can only be opened by a Silver Beastcoin that is located between 2 falls of water (N-13) The area behind the door is where most of the chest spawn is.
Can you be more specific? There is no info on this site about a Sea Serpent Grotto Chest Key.
What are the names of the mobs that drops it? (There's a bunch of versions of crabs here)
Where is this umarked area where they spawn? Which map and pos?

I found my map totally by accident.
I was running around doing some norg quests with my high lvl thf.
Found a chest and thought woohoo, here comes lots of gil or maybe a nice item.
Got the map to this place instead.
I picked the lock with a thief tool, didn't bother getting a key ^_^;

just to let you know
TO get to norg from tunnel take every right turn (and use silent oil alot, I used invis also for the sharigan whatevers incase...)
GO through the unmarked door take a right every turn (don't go through the 2nd unmarked door) just keep going till you see wall pillars with torches go through to norg.
To get a map of sea serpent tunnel...
It's soorta hard... you need to go deep down to unmarked area of the caves, kill the crabs/sharigan's down their till you get a grotto key, open chest if you can find it and you'll get a key item map (dosen't help much since the vault area/norg path isn't on map)
If anyone has info on the marble slabe and the "dew" quest using an empty barrel please post it.

Most dungeons are always unmarked on the game maps, requiring you find them yourself.
Does anyone know where to get a map of the grotto?
