Description
Its entrance hidden behind a picturesque jungle waterfall, the Sea Serpent Grotto is a series of caves dug into the cliffs of Elshimo Island. The dark caves are home to the Sahagin, a race of amphibious creatures that often travel in groups through the darkness.
Norg is filled with steep hills, unclimbable drop-offs, secret doors and locks that require keys and coins to open. Adventurers who persist in trekking through the dark may stumble upon the pirate den known as Norg.
Points of Interest
- To reach Norg, hug and follow the right wall after zoning into Sea Serpent Grotto. Watch for the secret door at H-6.
- Bring a Silver Beastcoin, a Gold Beastcoin and a Mythril Beastcoin to get through various doors in the zone.
- The notorious monster Charybdis, which drops the coveted Joyeuse sword, spawns at H-11 on the fourth map.
- The Water Leaper for the Impulse Drive Weaponskill is popped at the ??? at H-6 on the fifth map.
- The Ninja Kyahan are obtained from a coffer in this zone with the quest Grotto Coffer - NIN AF active.

That makes no sense to put an area in the game and have no way of getting the map without having a map of the area. I know that sounds confusing because I confused myself when I typed it. I just want to know how the higher levels got the map. Did they just stumble around and find it or was it given out when the game started? I know the creators of the game want everyone to play together and get help from people who already know what they're doing, but lets be real, a lot of higher levels I've met are very rude. There has to be some way of getting this map without all this trouble.

Anyone have any idea how to get through the Ornamental Door which leads to the bridge above the lake that people fish around?

the mob around the big pond stop aggroing at lvl 61, but you can fish up monsters
To get to the mobs that drops the chest key, keep left when you enter sea serpent grotto. Continue on the path until you see and area with Rivulet & Brook Sahagin. Kill the mobs in that area to get the key.
It should be a place with a big pool of water in the middle. There'd usually a few people fishing there.
After you get the key, go through a door that can only be opened by a Silver Beastcoin that is located between 2 falls of water (N-13) The area behind the door is where most of the chest spawn is.

Can you be more specific? There is no info on this site about a Sea Serpent Grotto Chest Key.
What are the names of the mobs that drops it? (There's a bunch of versions of crabs here)
Where is this umarked area where they spawn? Which map and pos?

If you have a good party you can level here at level 32... I was invited to a Japanese party that leveled here, we fought some sahagins and bats right at the sea grotto/yuhtunga zone. Great exp....

Anyone know a japanese or english site that has the coffer chest spawns? Because tonight is the ninja af boots for me and its gonna be a toughy without a high lvl ninja that doesn't know the coffer spawns. Or a map of the coffer spawns myself.

Anyone know what Hurr the Betrayer is for?
He's the Sahagin hiding behind the sea bonze guarding the treasure vault (where you go for your Utsusemi: Ichi quest).

He is the Sahagin that gives the statue you're seeking to the Norg resident you talked to. That man is basically the go-between between the pirates of Norg and the Sahagin.

yes this is a complete catch 22
I found my map totally by accident.
I was running around doing some norg quests with my high lvl thf.
Found a chest and thought woohoo, here comes lots of gil or maybe a nice item.
Got the map to this place instead.
I picked the lock with a thief tool, didn't bother getting a key ^_^;

In general, you may want to consult someone who already has a map for help in getting it, unless of course you find it by accident like the above person..... ;)

Yahutunga whatever jungle when you enter go down straight toward outpost. Their is a hole near the outpost (near the cliff) drop down and head to the 2 rivers take the one up north (longest one on map)
TO get to norg from tunnel take every right turn (and use silent oil alot, I used invis also for the sharigan whatevers incase...)
GO through the unmarked door take a right every turn (don't go through the 2nd unmarked door) just keep going till you see wall pillars with torches go through to norg.
To get a map of sea serpent tunnel...

If anyone has info on the marble slabe and the "dew" quest using an empty barrel please post it.

Oh and the map for yuhtunga jungle is buyable for 3,000gil at upper jueno item shop above chocobo stables from the little taru inside.

i don't see any trail leading to sea serpent grotto... from khazam, do you get to sea serpent grotto by going through the forests? I see it on the regional info, but i'm still kinda confused

you go to where the outpost is and drop into a hole, then the cave is behind a waterfall.
I think its near the waterfall in the southern part because I saw Sahagins there.
Most dungeons are always unmarked on the game maps, requiring you find them yourself.

To go to norg.. just keep heading RIGHT in the intersections inside the sea serpent grotto..
Monsters to watch out for along the way are Sahuagin and Ghasts. There are only a few Sahuagin, and they're fairly easy to slip past if you're careful and take your time. The Ghasts are found just past the door (you'll know it when you see it), and are thick enough that they require Sneak to get past.

you go there through khazam, good luck tho, the dungeon outside norg is all aggro 40+ monsters, and the quest for the pass is even harder, not cuz of the monsters but for the rarity of key drops

buy map of elshimo regions from h-7 in port jeuno inside the commerce building from the guy on the left behind the counter.
I have this map, yet no map shows up inside the actual Grotto (Jungle works fine).
