Description

Situated to the north of Bastok, this valley is surrounded by steep mountains. Separated into east and west areas by towering cliffs, this rocky region remains desolate due to various mineral run-offs which contaminate the river water. However, the spectacular Drachenfall, located to the north, is considered to be one of the wonders of Vana'diel.

Useless Cave Entrance

At K-6 there is a large Cave that leads to nowhere. It looks down on a valley with and encampment. What is this?

actually there are two or three useless caves in this area. Maybe they're something they're saving for another expansion pack, I have no idea.

max level

change the max level to 14. I was still gaining experience 15-25 at a shot, up until midway thru lvl 14.

Have to go on top of Zegham Hill or N. Gusta by the Outpost, those two spots are harder then the rest of N. Gusta

Careful of the Ornery Sheep on the Hill, they tend to group up when nearby.

It should stay at the max lvl of 9 since my lvl 9 theif can beat anything there and i havn't found a rating above decent challenge

Goblins aren't more of challenge than quadavs though

The max level refers to the max level of the monsters, which is what we need to know. If an area is lvl 15-25, I know I can string together 6 lvl 10 and go there for VT's. If I'm solo, I know that I need to be lvl 15 to be even to the weakest mobs, and that starting from lvl 26 the harders thing I can find in this zone is a decent challenge.

The level should stay right where it's at, unless you find mobs that con even to a lvl 10 or higher.

Oi, word to the wise... watch out for Stinging Selphie on the second level of Zegham Hill. It took me down easily as a lvl 11 thief, so unless you're in a strong party I would advise against attacking Stinging Selphie.

I found the Palborough mine entrance at K3

Which is in the northeast corner of the zone. Enter North Gustaberg via the eastern South Gustaberg entrance or from Port Bastok. Cross the bridge over Zeikt Creek and continue northeast along the path.
The memorial
# Nov 01 2003 at 10:42 PM Rating: Default
The shrine is up Zegham hill, go up, then go up another road (once you go up the first path take a right), then up again (after taking a left afte rthe second hill)

You will FINALLY make it to the very top of the hill (its very large) and the memorial is there, the quest giver is in the bat inn in the mines and he gives level 8 monk/ninja/samurai pants

The entrance to Zegham Hill is on the West side of the hill. To get up the hill, the entrance to the second tier is counterclockwise from the main entrance, and the entrance to the third tier is clockwise from the second tier entrance.

Palborough Memorial

There is supposed to be a shine to the Palborough pioneers somewhere here. I found the Palborough mine entrance at K3, but no memorial.

You have to cross the bridge over Zeikt Creek first. The first ramp is right in the middle of I6. The second one is either in the upper right corner of I8 or the upper left of J8, meaning as others have stated, you have to basically go around to the other side of the hill. Rinse and repeat to make it to the third level with the memorial (Ramp around upper right I7).

From what I heard you have to climb up a hill at I-9.

OK...I have gotten to the memorial, but what purpose does it serve. I targeted it and it just said what was inscribed on it. Is there anything you have to do to activate it or is it just for looks...

there's a quest in town where you speak to a boy in one of the buildings who tells you to lay some flowers at the memorial for his uncle or something... it's a memorial to pioneers. I dont know what the reward is, going to go do it now so I'll post again if I remember to.
