Description

Currently unused by the Kingdom of San d'Oriah, this prison is accessible through the basement of the Chateau d'Oraguille. A few guards remain to patrol the halls and warn adventurers of the perils lurking in the shadows. The deepest levels of the oubliette can be reached only through a guarded trap door. Even the most talented and grizzled adventurers may find their demise here.

So booyah we are doing the DRG quest, and we came in here and such, not sure if it was part of the DRG quest and I see a grate. Cool beans, I'll go down it! Drop. Hrm. Slimes. Hrm... Dead. Bye.

Ahahahaha. I had NO idea there was monsters down there. I came running down here for DRG quest, then scampered back out, totally unaware that I could get hurt in this place.

Shows how little I know of San d'Oria. x.x
that place made me cry

Tried to exp here at level 49-50...

"hard" does not do this area justice

it's not that any one mob is a big deal to a level 50 group - in fact, despite what some people may say, the mobs didn't con high enough for us to exp on and to get to any that did required us to sneak past some VERY VERY nasty stuff...the dogs here took out our dark in 2 swaps ;;

there is no good camp here to exp
Do *NOT* go in there! Woo!
# Feb 18 2004 at 7:46 PM Rating: Default
There is a reason why it is said to be level 50+

You know why? It is *dangerous* - I do not suggest going in there until you are the appropriate level, except for the drain quest. Save yourself the loss of xp, and stay out.

As a level 75, I can say this on good authority, I believe.

odd, a lvl 75 that doesn't know where Novalmauge is.

I concur don't go there unless you are there for the quest, If you are a lvl 25 or greater mage with deoderise,invisible,sneak the quest is able to be completed with realitive ease. But if you don't and think good quest for making easy 20k+ Gil have fun trying to make it through.

You don't need Sneak or Invisible to reach Novalmauge.

wtf are you talking about?!

the Novalmauge quest for the drain scroll is not dangerous. You don't even have to step into any mob infested areas to complete it. Just buy the darned beastman blood for 500G and make 20k+ profit in Windurst.

Now, if you're actually going down into deeper parts for any reason, then you should worry.

NOTE: To get the quest from Novalmauge, you must first be allowed into the Chateau. You must also have a decent amount of fame in SD for Noval to speak with you at all. Otherwise, NO QUEST FOR YOU!

Further down the corridor BEHIND novulmauge, there a bunch of cells. One of them has an entrance to the sewers where "enemies of the royal family" or such were thrown down to fend for themselves, THATS where the mobs are!
The Sewers (continued)

<continued from previous>
{ Now of course, Sneak is a very unreliable spell at times, as anyone who has cast it will attest. So in order to save myself from certain death, I would recast it as needed by getting as far away from the monster in front of me and the one behind (the sewers offer no safe haven)or continuing to run until such a place could be found. }

...I ventured on into the sewers, until I eventually found monsters that looked like hounds or werewolves and figured they would tear me to shreds..but seeing as how there was no way back, I walked up to--and past--them as well, with no unfortunate consequences. These beasts were as thick as the leeches had been, one or two every 2 seconds of travel.

The sewers started branching into different "passageways" just as narrow as the first, and I was forced to "guess" my way around, hoping that I wasn't just going in circles. I finally came upon a large round room that had a large hole in the center with the walkway continuing around it and connecting to several more passageways, none of which, looked any more promising... Viewing each passage in turn, I finally selected one and ran along it with renewed hope.

I ran and ran...and ran. Finally, I came upon something different: a set of stairs, leading upward no less. Having no desire to stay in the wretched sewers, I made careless haste to the miraculous stairway...

...too careless. My unwatching eye had missed the warnings, my "Sneak" was about to fail..and here again was no safe zone. I screwed up my courage, and sped forward...hoping the stairs would save me from my misadventure. Much to my dismay, I found another hellhound blocking my path...the stairway had betrayed my confidences and the hall behind, guarded, by two flagrant leeches. As I ventured forward these beasts attacked, ravaging me of my health...my death was assured. In less time than it takes to tell, I succumbed to the massive amounts of damage and fell dead.

That is all I know of the sewers...

I had to rate the post excellent. It's a nice change of pace from the many other's I read lately. This area is really just to take a break from crawlers nest and citidel. But I dontreally see myself leveling here much

The Sewers
# Feb 02 2004 at 1:28 AM Rating: Excellent
I was a level 24 Red Mage when I went exploring the dungeon of the Chateau and found the sewers... My curiosity betrayed me however, and I went in. Unfortunately, I soon found there was no way back out ;D So I made a "brave" face, and buffed the 'ell out of myself... I walked up to the first monsters--which were blob-like things--(and IT of course) they let me pass, so I figured they were non-aggressive. I continued on and found leech-like critters.. and no way around them in the narrow halls, so I walked slowly up to them... ...and ran quickly past them, even more amazed. I knew then that the buff "Sneak" was the only thing keeping me alive... <continued>

Yes, you can. But it requires doing rank 2-3 from whatever country you are from, I may be wrong, but I think that's it.

Once you get Rank 2 in San d'Oria, go to the Chateau d'Oraguille and head to the dungeon (first door on your right, then left down the hallway). It's a dank prison, that leads to the sewers beneath d'Oraguille, a place I had not the courage to venture into.

Thanks for the info, I see it on the region map and it's been driving me crazy looking for it. I thought it was an outside dungeon.
