Hope this helps others that are lower then what I've been reading , whom have fought this guy.. I was ******** here and still am waiting on some one to come around to help me on my af2 for drg to fight the tiger I seem to not be able to defeat even with my level 60 npc and me being stuck at level 55 because of the cap fight. Well Ahtu was wondering around, and I said what the ****. Because I can zone if it got bad and so went for it, as a 55 redmg/smn. well to be honest it was as easy as the one in junger forest!!! used stoneskin, phalanx, Icespikes, enthunder and haste that's it went down in about a minute in a half. so good luck to ya...

So I was going for the Stone Monument and happened on this big tree... I /check and it's Impossible to gauge! WOOT NM. So I grab my Selbina Clay, grab a copy of the Monument, and I "GET READY FOR GLORY" (300 quote, if you don't know, ask someone).

(lvl70 WHM) Stoneskin+ Blink+Aquaveil+RR and i rush him. I hit Ahtu with 2 Banish3s and a few other spells before it rips through my stoneskin and i notice I'm down to 50% mp. So I do the smart thing: REPOSE.

Ahtu wakes up once before I get full mp repose works again np. I rebuff, repose one more time and then hit Ahtu with 2 more Banish3s. Bang Key, which is what brings me here happy to discover that I just made 10k and beat an all new NM double woot.

For any who care my divine skill was 234 with all the gear I had and i had capped enfeeb for a lvl70 whm. Repose Paralyze Slow and Flash were never resisted.

BTW: Thanks for gettin me through the gate Chuuuuu

61SAM/30WAR, to be exact.

Straightforward fight: Hasso -> Berserk -> WS -> Two hour. Plan was to spam 5 Yukikazes in a row and see what was left to mop up. I was surprised to see that I only had the chance to pull off three out of my planned 5 WSs before the tree hit the ground >.<

My first Yukikaze connected for 1051, the second for 1048, third for 748 so I'm guessing that he has about 2,800 or so HP... but do not dismiss him as an easy kill! He hits rather hard, and double attacks are the norm (like most treant mobs). His hits were landing in the 70-80 range for me and at the end of the fight he had managed to rip me down to 742/1310 HP.

After failing and dying trying to do part of G3 solo I felt I had to do something on my list that I would succeed with before logging off. I put on /rdm for sneak/invisible and decided to check up on Ahtu. There is always ppl in the area to help out with the switches. As a BLU 56 he didnt cause too much trouble, was about half on hp, ended the fight with a fusion and a bomb toss mb. I had a tavnasian taco that was sitting alone in my inv so I ate that before the fight.
A blu could probably solo this NM a level or maybe even 2 before I did.

I never realized 'til lately that you can see this NM from across the ocean area. I've tried several times before and couldn't see it, but I was waiting for a friend and all of a sudden it popped on the island. Not really helpful information I am providing here. Just thought it was cool.

I was doing the stone monument thing and Ahtu was there so I decided to try to solo it. I was a BRD69/WHM34, which isn't really the greatest solo job, but I decided to give it a try anyway.

First off, I buffed with protect II/shell and ate a meat jerky (only food on me) and got back all my mp. Then I used Valor Minuet IV and Army Paeon IV. I cast lullaby on Ahtu and ran to the zone in case I had trouble. When Ahtu came to me I cast Carnage Elegy and Foe Requiem VI on it.

So I started attacking it, and it had a surprisingly high accuracy. Hit me almost everytime, and when I got down to maybe 800 HP (1070 max) I used Cure III and got back to full hp. My songs wore off, and I decided since it had a high accuracy and I was a weak bard I'd just give up, so I zoned back to Eldieme.

I came back out a minute later and Ahtu was still sitting there and Requiem had taken off a huge chunk of its hp so I decided to try again. I buffed myself and just cast elegy on it. For whatever reason, this time it never hit me. After a minute or two and one other Cure III I was down to 750 hp and Ahtu was dead.

Not hard at all.

I just killed him as BRD68/WHM34, although my strategy was Protect2/Shell/Blink/Stoneskin then using Ballad1-2. Pulled him with Elegy, then slow, paralyze, requiem, and dia. Kept chopping at him with my sword. Wasn't bad until he got to about 50% then he started ripping through stoneskin. I kept putting it back up, and afterwards did Ballad1-2. At about 25% health I was down to around 500, divine seal and cure3. Burn tp about twice. Got him and left with around 800 from 1190. Was a rough fight. (Bard) (Incredibly Tough)

As a White Mage 66 / Black Mage 33, I defeated this monster earlier today. While Ahtu himself is capable of hitting hard, most of these problems can be avoided with sufficient Stoneskin and Regen.

I feel I should note two critical differences between WHM66 and WHM62 which were most likely crucial to my success: Protect IV and Regen III. While I did finish this fight with 243 MP to spare (out of a pool of approximately 840), I also cast virtually nothing but Haste, Stoneskin, Blink and Regen III. (Of course, before I engaged, I cast Reraise II as well as Protect IV/Shell III and proceeded to heal to full.)

Also, I began the fight with a Bind and a Dia II, which seemed to help. The Bind is not critical if you plan to engage anyway, but in the event you can't pull off a spell due to interuptions, Bind or Sleep may help you buy the time to put up Stoneskin and Regen again, if only because they are easier to get off between hits.

Good luck everyone who tries this!

I think that if we play as a whm/blm on this one we need a potion that restores our MP pretty much all the way. With my low weapon skills i can get this thing down to about 20-25% left before i run out of MP. I tried 3x to kill this thing th other night. I stared at this NM for almost 2.5 hours, and let me tell you, that thing got uglier by the minute lol. And all the times i fought it differently and the end results were prety much the same. The next time i am out there, that is what i am gonna try, so good luck to all you whm's that try to attempt to kill this thing, i feel for ya. And if you are no sure you can handle it alone bind it or sleep it at first then head close to the zone just in case you can't :-P

Went to get my stone monument rub last night after memorizing the way through The Nercropolis from maps on Somepage. I decided I would give him a go. Buffed up with Blink and Stoneskin, through on Shock Spikes for grins, hit him with 1200 Flare, Sleep II, manafont, Burst for 1115, and Finished him with 587 Firaga II. He took one shadow off whole time. Extreamly Easy, BLM can do this easy. Didnt need AM really at all or Manafont, but since i had never seen him in action, i wasnt gonna take any chances. BLM 60

I solo'd this as a 53 RDM, but I probably could have done it earlier. Anyway it gave me 86 exp, it seemed like a high DC or EM.

I did the standard RDM soloing method. Blink -> Stoneskin -> Refresh -> Fire 2 -> Sleep 2 -> Rest for 1 tick -> Repeat.

I was looking for my Eldieme coffer but found this island, so decided to solo it. It hit me for a bit over 100 with stoneskin down and each Fire 2 did about 7-10% to him. Wasn't too hard to bring him down. Both Fire 2 and Sleep 2 were never resisted.

I just finished soloing Ahtu as a 54 THF/NIN. Gave me 61 xp.

I nearly died the first time and had to Flee to zone, exiting with 32 hp. The second time I faired MUCH better after using a scroll of Reraise ... yeah, had to sleep Ahtu and run for my life with 47 hp!

Third time was easily the charm!

Strategy: sleep the mo-fo as much as possible.

Cast Utsusemi then I charged up SATA and used a Silent Oil, snuck up behind him did SATA with my DEX rings on. Macro'd in my Sniper's rings for ranged accuracy and started whacking away at him.

As soon as he went through my shadows and slept him again, then put up Utsusemi once more. Another sleep and I'd use SATA on him from behind.

Rinse and repeat, tossing in a Cyclone now and then when I had the TP to do so. He died a horrible death and I never even broke a sweat. Before I tried to use bloody bolts and get all fancy, this time I just slept him like Bitoso, singlehandedly.

My Cyclones averaged 115 points and my SATA (okay, actually only just SA) went from 280-325.

My marksmanship is only at level 151, probably about 10 from cap? Not sure. But I wouldn't try this as a thief with lower than 150 marksmanship if you're going to rely on sleep bolts like I did.

Good luck to all of you lower level solo'ers!!

Killed him as a 60 RNG/25 WHM, but it was a trial.

The first time I tried I started with barrage, eagle eye shot, sidewinder and was in solid shape. My HP was beginning to get a little low so a shadowbound him and backed off. Then for no reason I suddenly lost claim to a summoner who had popped out of the tunnel!!! I'm still puzzled as to how that happened. However old Ahtu was still ****** at me so when shadowbind wore off, he came at me and started beating on me, but he was still purple so I couldn't attack him. Hardly fair. :/ I had to zone, and the SMN killed him. Very upsetting.

The second try (the next day), I started with sharpshot+barrage: 1 hit. eagle eye shot: missed. (I've missed 2 eagle eye shots and both were on NMs. Bleh.) Later in the fight I also missed a sidewinder. I had to do a divine seal+cure III at one point but managed to finish him off with about 220 HP left. Got the key, and glad I never have to deal with this aggravating NM again.

I was doing the Selbina clay quest with a friend, switching off turns opening the gates through Eldieme Necropolis. I knew Ahtu was on the island and I needed the key for the quest (the other person hadn't flagged it yet) so I decided to try my luck at it. I was 57 RDM/BLM at the time.

First I stoneskinned, refreshed, pro 3, shell 3 before I zoned from Eldieme. He was in the center of the island, so I crept around the edges. I cast bind. It stuck, which I was amazed. My enfeebling is capped, but I've never gotten bind to stick for very long. My averages binds were 30-45 seconds on Ahtu. I cast Gravity so incase bind wore, he'd be slow as **** anyhow. I started with Dia II, Burn, and Poison II. Then went ahead and spammed Fire II as fast as I could w/o Chainspell. Did 210 damage each time. Repeat bind and gravity as it wore off. I got him to half health, bind wore, I recast and it immediatley wore and the timer wasn't up on bind nor Gravity so I zoned quickly as he was hitting for 85 damage (took 2 hits on SS,3rd one broke it). Converted, refreshed again, threw on my ice staff and zoned back to the island. He was at the end of the tunnel, his back to me. I cast bind, it stuck, and I ran past hoping that TaruTaru evasion would pull me through and it did. I resumed a place that was well out of branch reach and just within casting distance and repeated my steps above. Now I was doing 225-230 damage with each cast, taking a huge chunk of health each time. He tossed a pinecone at me, but I wasn't slept. I had one last hit that I had to make when bind wore and he started coming after me.

I turned and looked him straight in the eyes and let a final Fire II go from my hands. The key was mine! The entire fight only took about 5-7 minutes.

easiest way to get to the island without all the directions, is to make it to the south room of the main map, and drop down the very center grave.

Just step on it, then find your way out.

If you check the Eldieme Necropolis map, there as four spots that look like they're slightly swollen - they're located at F-8, H-8, G-7, and G-9. Hitting any of these switches opens/closes the gates; in order to reach the island, you must fall in the center sandtrap at G-9 located on the first map. However, each switch is guarded by a Puroboros (sight/magic agro), and it's also impossible to get through the gates needed by yourself, as you must pass two doors and one is always closed..so someone hasto stay behind and flip the switch. Also, just to note, if you're after Ahtu, he only drops ONE key at a time, so don't expect to do that quest with multiple people in one run.

Aside from the key for the San d'Oria quest, The Setting Sun, there isn't much to this NM other than regular treant drops. You're best off looking for it while doing the Selbina clay quest. Other than the key, it's very much a waste of time when you could be killing the normal treants every 5 minutes by the Aged Arbor. FYI a rdm and me (rng, both 51) duoed this with ease.

Believe it or not, I killed Ahtu last night as a 50RDM/25SMN Elvaan. Here's how:

I was retrieving my clay impression from the Batallia Island and I saw Ahtu. I buffed up with Refresh, Protect III, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Blink, Haste, Enfire, & Blaze Spikes.

At the start of the fight, I cast Gravity and ran back a little bit to cast paralyze & slow. I ran around casting Poison II and Fire II. I quickly ran out of MP and had to convert and recast refresh & gravity. At this point, Ahtu was only down maybe 25% in health so I thought I would move in closer to take and give some hits.

That was a really bad idea -- after blink wore, Ahtu tore through Stoneskin in one hit and I was taking hits for 75-150 points. I ran to the zone and healed to full and waited for the 10 minute counter from converting.

This is the way that I ended up beating Ahtu:

I zoned back in and cast gravity on Ahtu and poison II. I then exited the zone and immediately reentered to cast Bio II. I continued to zone in and out alternating between Bio II and Poison II. Between zones I either cast refresh or Cure on myself. I went through this process for about 20 minutes. I had to convert twice and twice I got him down to 10% and he threw a pinecone at me and slept me outside the zone. When Ahtu slept me, poison or bio would wear and he would quickly regenerate mp to almost 40-50%!

As the 30 minute marker hit, Ahtu was back down to 15% and I zoned out, converted and hit cure IV. I reentered, cast Bio II, exited and cast blink. I then reentered and started nuking Ahtu with Fire II. My blink wore off and I was down to 50 MP with 121 HP as I delivered the final blow. I exited right when it said 150 Experience points and when I zone I checked my inventory and there was the key!

I just killed him SOLO as a 57 BLM. ^_^v

Stoneskin/Blink, zoned out to Batallia, Bind > Poison II > Frost > Shock > Dia > Thunder II bind wears. I zone. rest for a bit, go back out, Bind > Poison II > Dia > Water III, bind wears, I zone, Rest. Go back out, Bind > Poison II, bind stays for like, 3 seconds, I zone. I go back after resting 1 click, then I Elemental Seal + Bind, Manafont, then Blizzaga II, and then Burst.

^_^ It was so fun. All I got was this key. ;;

I got tired of looking at the last hunk of Selbina Clay in my mog safe and decided one night to go get the monument where this guy spawns. I was alone, 56 thf/whm, and when I got there the island was empty. After trading the clay and reading the inscription, I turn around and this guy had spawned nearly right behind me. O_O

It took 2 tries, but I was barely able to beat him with heavy usage of regen, bloody bolts and a divine seal/cure III at one point. Most of his hits were missing me, but the ones that got through hurt bad. Ninja sub for utsusemi probably would have made this a much easier fight. Good luck!

But when I hit him with Banishga II (it was Windsday), it hit him for 280...and mine usually hits for about 190. Perhaps he's weak to light, or just as really low magic resists..?
Fun looking

Yeah I just beat him down as a 54 ranger. Was doing my AF2 and dropped down to get out. Ended up on batallia Island. Looked to my right and saw a tree.

Shadowbind>Ranged Atk>Barrage> Eagle eye> Piercing Arrow> and a couple more shots and he was down. I had about 212 HP at the end. Thank god for being galkan.

Dropped key and mistletoe.

Took him down solo with my lvl 54 nin/war. started off by enfeebing him with Paralyze and Blind, hit up berserk and went to town on him. Pretty standard battle, had about 340 health left at the end >.<

Actually Stun is a lv 45 BLM spell, not lv 40.

This guy would be very hard to solo as a non-mage. I came here 74sam/26blm (for warp) and he got me to half health by the time I killed him. Ice spikes was helpful, hehe, but not as much as WAR sub would have been ;-P
BTW, to Mr. Clueless below, Stun is a lv40 BLM 37 DRK spell, so 74/75 can sub DRK and have the spell Stun available to them.
