i hate to say it, but this is one of those totally non-productive rants about my horrible luck and will probably just get me flamed at but...oh well
i camped this fella and killed the placeholder bats non-stop for over 4 hours the other night and only got one spawn. the next night, i did the same, camped the two spots near gustav tunnel, for over 6 hours! no spawn what so ever!!! i never left, and i was present for every respawn.....WHAT IS GOING ON?? there's got to be something i'm doing wrong...somebody enlighten me?? please?? i beg of you, this is driving me nuts.

Sat and killed giant bats for about an hour with my lvl 23 BST and he poped, did the little send a mob at him and when dead send another like 4 times and then i had like 30 hp left and he had a sliver of life when a sam took the last blow. But I pretty much did it myslef :P Well to make a long story short.. I got my Night Cape first time camping! YAY

does golden bat pops in the northern tunnel? the south one is camped by others lots of time, if possible, I would just like to sit in Northern tunnel quietly and wait for him pop.

I camped this NM as a 29sam/14war and had no problem killing it. Though, it only dropped a bat wing :(
I've fought this mob with a score of 3/12 for the Night Cape (going for 150k on Sylph), and I like to stop in every so often to see if it spawns.

I camped this one after taking VE. I figured, I'm in the area, why not? So, I go near the zone and I kill the Giant Bats, probably about 3 times, but no pop yet. Then some lv. 18 group zones a whole load of bats, two gobs, and a Bogy. I was already a bit lowered on HP from the Giant Bats (hunting as 38 DRK, Drain sucks against bats) and so I couldn't drop to rest or they'd agg me. So, I take out some bats, some others take the gobs and some SMN camping there too sends his Carby to take the Bogy. So, I drop to rest. Then the SMN runs off because someone called for a raise and they were near by. I turn my head for a sec to watch TV, then I look back and I'm being attacked by Golden Bat. I had no more than 210 hp, but it wasn't a problem. I took him out quick, got the drop, and was on my way. All in all though, even without the weirdness, this guy was very under-camped (on asura) so I'd give it a go.
A level 31BLM/RDM has a chance soloing this you guys/girls reckon?

if you got a good bind on it, and got some good spells cast on it u might be able to solo it (make sure you have 2 hr in hand, just in case)
but you and a drg could easily take it.. gl with camping!

Man just got done camping for about 2 hours for this thing again now I am 2/3..This is by far the easiest camp besides the launchers in Gelsba,,,Don't hate me cause I'm lucky. Or beautiful for that matter.

After Valkrum Emperor was killed, I decided to pass time hunting this. Went to Gustav Tunnel zone and killed the two giant bats. The I used a snipper "pet" (drain and aspir a snipper) and returned to the tunnel to see Golden Bat, so with my snipper pet I attacked the Bat, but all I got was a bat wing >.<

i didnt even know that a couple of friends of mine went up against the nm... i think i died in the end.. but i dont remeber lol its cool now that i realize that it is. and next time i face him ill be high enuf lvl to beat it down!!
I decided to make a quick buck while in the dunes and camped the bat in the southern tunnel, got the drop after about 10 Giant bat kills and another about 40 mins after...pity i didnt realise i can only hold 1 cape cos it dropped again and it was lost >< ah well, ill be back for him again soon cos NO-ONE ever camps him on Shiva...p.s: this cape sells for 50k on this server

I was 41 WHM at the time exp-ing in Gustav. Party on downtime so I zone for no real reason and this thing pops.

when i camped it there was anther smn there, i waited like 30 min and he poped, casted dia on him and killed him, but no drop. i was lvl 39 blm the smn there was 39 too.
i think i'm going to camp it for the next faw days to get the drop and sell it.

camped him for about 3 or 4 hours (thank god for AdultSwim). killed 42 place holders until finally golden popped killed him and got the drop! 31rng/15thf. though he did get me down in the red. thank you Eagle Eye Shot

I have camped this bat for 3 days. so far I am 2/4 on him and he only spawns in the south tunnel from what I have seen.
update: now 4/6 on him but I aint giving up

I killed him after about 45min of camping. I kept killin all the bats in the tunel out side of the gustuv entrance. I used my 43 taru whm/blm buffed with protect2, shell2, ice spikes, blink, and stone skin. I used haste and I owned him plus got drop. it was fun actually.
Okay here's some info about the Golden Bat..
It pops near the zone to Gustav Tunnel two bats are the PH's,every 2 hr and 18 game minutes those bats repop and may contain the Golden Bat.

this bat does not have a spawn time. its random. usally pops after about 25 bats have ben killed.

I sold my night cape but camped him again and got drop again im now 12/14 on him pretty good huh
OK got this guy for the first time today. So I am 0/1 with him. I really hate him now. The only thing I got for my time was a bat wing and skilled up my staff alittle bit. Hope SE dosen't make this drop rare/ex before I can get one.
I am thinking of camping this thing, but I NEED to know some kind of spawn time! I like to log out until maybe 10 minutes before it is supposed to spawn, so I dont waste my whole day just killing random bats.

It seems it takes about hour of killing giant bats for it to spawn but there has been a time when it took an hour and a half for it to spawn.

I took this thing on two times today with my xp party in gustav. It poped once when we were waithing on a war to come and our blm was at the zone to gustav in the dunes raiseing her wand skill on the bats there. It poped she told us and we all came and killed it and got the drop. Next time it poped was after we tryed to kill the gob NM and almost got owned but the blm used escape. It was right there near the zone so we killed it again and got the drop again.

0/3 so far. 2 pops one day about an hour apart. Today camped for about 2 hours at Tunnel Zone (I guess it pop in the other tunnel and I missed it). Took TH this time and nothing but over a stack of bat wings to show for it.
Pop time. I suppose about an hour is correct. I can confirm night is not needed ... This pop was 14:20 Watersday.

Yeah, in the tunnals there are bats no matter what time of day it is.
