Vana'diel Bestiary: Hawkeyed Dnatbat  

Despite 1 person training hornets and 1 person with a wyvern, I scored the claim, got the knife (of course). The person training hornets is always there. If you're on Seraph and have ever camped this NM, you probably know Fecer, and maybe Edgarn and Lanfei. Fecer was training the hornets, so I waited until about a minute before the next scheduled spawn and used Hide while out of sight, then walked in and stood so that I would target any spawns before targeting the hornets, since every time I tried to stand in front of him without Hide he would move. As a THF50/WAR25, Eagle Eye Shot did ~230 damage to me. Hardly chump change, but hardly anything to fret over.

I am a lvl 36RDM/nin...Can I solo him if I have blink on for his eagle eye shot...which is typically their opening shot right? I know that is what it is for GIGAS NM rangers. Please let me know. I'm cmaping it right now on asura server. They go for about 25k each but I have 70 gil to my name..lol

I am currently 5/5 on knives (duh... 100% drop)

I can usually beat the 3-4 bots there, but sometimes I have to tab through stuff when someone decides to be wierd and train stuff in to the room.

Don't pay 50k or more for this knife. It's unacceptable. This item is worth 10-15k tops. It's a guarenteed drop and it's an item that only ONE job in the game really needs.

I don't buy the fact that the price is jacked up so high just because of the level 30 caps and more people were playing Ranger. On Carbuncle there are always 10-15 up for sale. There is no shortage of this item, it drops EVERYTIME.

The price is being jacked up by the gil-sellers who are camping it on every server.

Do yourself a favor. Don't buy it. Get a couple friends together, and go team camp it. The gil-sellers can be beat. I went there to try and get an Archer's Knife because it is easy to just swing through and get a quick 10k. I took a break from the game for a long time and didn't realize what'd happened.

All I had was provoke, and I managed to get about half of the placeholders.

If you're NOT a gil-seller, don't join in on the bandwagon, and go camp this item hoping to sell it for an inflated price that they've set.

I wish it were that easy on Unicorn.

Lilro, Guantou, and Roes are in Davoi almost 24/7 gil farming. Usually it's just Lilro that camps this NM, but if there's more than one other person competing with him, Roes and Guantou show up to start training mobs, MPKing, and just doing whatever they can to get you to leave. Roes' favorite tactic is to bring in an orc and bind it next to anyone who's afk, allowing it to him them.

But, usually one of them just brings 20 orcs in and dies, and the occasional person here who's just low enough to get aggro from the higher lvl orcs gets aggro and dies as well.

A few JP players occasionaly camp this too, and the 3 I've seen here are well aware of these players and call them RMTers (Real Money Traders).

So far I'm 2/12 on claims, and got knife both times.

Easiest way to make gil Ever! Killed 4 times today, missed it once, got the drop every damn time. Even better there was a guy there buying the archer knife for 50k everytime i got the drop. So the cursemaker and mesmerizers are the place holders and they spawn about every 10 minutes and 10 seconds. I took about 1 hour for every spawn except one which i missed, took about a hour and a half. yeah so its gonna spawn in about 20 minutes so i gotta see when the cursemakers are spawning. Woot so far i made 200k!

price was like 9-10k for so long, then chinese gil farmers came in, price is like 50-60k i am 53 ranger/ war getting rid of war sub and need aonther knife...now its eitehr i spent alot of money or camp, i heard he sapwns about every hour, and drop always happens ,thats is what i heard from friends

i'm a 51 rng and ive been camping this guy for about 3 days now. im usually the only one camping him.
the first time he spawned, i had gone afk for 5 minutes. someone swooped in and grabbed him and when i got back he was already dead.

the second time he spawned, same thing happened.
third time, he spawned right in front of me but a nin ran by and voked him before i could shadowbind it.
4th time, i went afk again and he spawned and a bst got it.

moral of the story? dont go afk when camping him

Well my friend was hunting him today (got 2 knives BTW) and he was happy (ATM Knives were 40k on ifrit) but when he got to the jeuno AH he sent me a tell saying "OMFG I JUST GOT AN EASY 120K... Archers Knives went up in price went from 40k-60k W0000000T, you should come camp this guy some time ^_^" Man I think I will

umm you got ripped off, archer knife goes for 20k min and 30k max

Im just checking in to see the value of the knife.
I cant see it anywhere, but im gonna check jeuno ah soon.

I just got out of davoi where i killed This nm. Im a lvl 30 thf now, and did this nm alone. I started up with Perfect dodge, but it didnt seem to help much since his arrows went throught that. At least he didnt hit me with his knife during this time.

I would never have made it without bloody bolts. his eagle eye took me for 296 out of a total of 476 hp. The cursmaker also respawned and linked.
During the whole fight my bloody bolts drained a total of 947 hp from them. Half of it after Dnatbat had died tho.

I came there. He was not camped. I killed the seresjant and the cursemaker. 10 mins later,Hawkeyed Dnatbat popped. So if he is not camped, i guess he is easy to get.
