Not Quite... In any version that I've played of FFXI you can configure your system to put those above it. You can have only window, both, or only onscreen display. Its in configuarion under something.

to cut down on lag, and eliminate the ultra spam that comes in the chat log from damage, i set this to displayed on screen, so it shows miss/damage over the monster's head. the command is under config>chat(?)>damage>on-screen

The miss is from a graphics setting you can do where it shows damage over top of the mob when you hit. Also shows "miss" if you miss.

Our PT was made up of 6 BST, This is how we did it... we rolled /random for who using Orb first, traded orb... went in buffed up(make sure Blink is up very helpful). PT leader called crab familar ran to the top of the bridge had it attack one rabbit they all linked....we all charmed one (there should be one Stray, Also charm do fail quite a lot) we all but one had our rabbits to go after Helltail other person made his rabbit attack the stray..than we all went to the back of the Platform healed up recasted Blink used Sic (if pet had TP) (also try to keep the fight at the bridge)
once Helltail dead the stray rabbit should be almost dead (or dead depends) so we all attacked that rabbit till it died than leader picked who to use Leave on there pet so we could gangbang it.(you can use jug pet if you like after you use Leave on your pet)we repeated this process till all rabbits were dead.We did 6 runs (your Orb your loot) 5 ppl had bad runs (including me) only 1 guy had good run he had got Erase. it was all worth it in the end, was fun, made 30K, lost nothing. Very fun once you get the hang of it

try it with something like this and you should have better luck:

BRD, BLM, RDM, NIN, RNG, RNG

Substitute BST for a RNG if you can find one

i hard if you get a party of bstm , just assign one to a bunny henchman, sic em on the big bunny, then sick em on each other, then kill off the remainder.

This guy doesn't hit terribly hard, but he casts Hastega on all his little friends and sometimes will Slowga your party. When his health starts to drop he will unleash some traditional Rabbit-type attacks like Dust Cloud (blind and damage, damage is very mild), Foot Kick (moderate damage to a single guy), and Whirl Claws (its like a Doom Scorp's whirl of rage, pretty decent damage).

Alone, this guy is little threat to a level 40 party (certainly no more than your average Doom Scorpian in C-nest), but his **** 6 cottentails get in the way. They're weak, but there are 6 of them. Make sure you have a skilled BRD and a good BLM to combo with Hoarde Lullaby and Sleepga ready to go. It's basically the only way to win. I've never got a debuff to stick to the big guy himself, however. It will take a skilled party with superb coordination to take this guy down (or 6 BSTs who all take a rabbit and unleash **** on the big one).

Immune to sleep, can't be pulled out of ring of stones, summons players who get aggro.
