just fought him not too long ago as a 40/20 pld/war. pretty easy battle, i tell you though, great bleat is a horrible thing. got 4 skins and the horn which is nice, since i had fought rampaging about an hour ago and got his horn too :) personally, level 37-38ish i think would be able to pull it off (not referring to mages).

I fought this guy last night. I had Tel-Dem'ed and was going to go hunt for Battering Rams for that Lanolin Cube for the Jeuno quest. I saw a big ram and thought "Whee! Please drop the stupid cube." and then when I started attacking it, I realized it wasn't a Battering ram. o.O;;

I was a 40 WHM at the time, but I was wearing a Holy Breastplate, so it wasn't owning me...kept interuppting my casting, though. -_-

I got a few skins and the Lumbering Horn...now I'm thinking about camping Rampaging Ram so I can finish the -other- quest for that Tenshodo guy. ><
Bad encounter..

A while ago when I had just started.. Got my first job up in the mid teen's, and a 38whm in my Linkshell escorts my from Latheine to W. Ronfaure, in case of aggro. Walking by the crag, and he spots Lumbering Lambert, me being new at the time, I had no idea what it was.. rather that it was just huge. I had auto-follow on the whm. He decides to walk closer to it, us 2 being the only ones in sight. He stops and sends an LS tell asking if anyone knew what lvl the NM was and if he could solo it. 3-4 seconds later, it comes charging at us. ...Me being well a newbie at the time, I whip out my sword, and await it's arrival. It aggro's the whm, and I out of stupidity gain aggro through casting Dia. 1 Hit and I'm in the red. The whm starts casting "Teleport-Holla" to escape him. But mid way through the cast, I die, and he gains aggro, cancelling out the spell. Before he dies, he gets warp in, and I'm stuck feeling stupid. all in all, It was the only time I've seen him, everytime I go by Latheine, I'm hoping to have my revenge. :D *Rambles on...*
Got it

I was going to San D'Oria with a PT of level 30's and 31's to do the DRG quest. We saw this in our way and we thought we engage it. So we did. Our JOBs where: WHM (me), WAR, RNG, PLD, SMN, and THF. 3 died but we managed to kill it with the use of all the 2 hours lol!

Me and my buddy Stayhigh were hunting Rams (Me @36thf/1rng, him @41whm/1rng), he kept teleporting us back and forth between the Highlands and La Theine, so we got lots of rams. But, I ended up bumping into my ingame fiance and a friend there, so I stopped paying attention to widescan to talk.

Then I got this--

(Stayhigh) Get your *** over here, I got Lambert.

I /wave and scamper off to help fight.

I felt puny without my sword in offhand, but Stay got a haste in on me and I started hacking away with mad speed. (Was using a 180 delay Federation Knife at the time)

Random info-
~Sneak Attack/Viper Bite only did about 280 dmg.
~The HP reduction thing (Great Bleat, I think) dropped me from 450 to about 80 HP. Not pretty.
~Was only hitting me for about 28-35 pts. of dmg., and I was in decent equip (Gambison set, Leaping Boots, no headgear)

I have found Lumbering Lambert in the circled area above everytime. The Battering Ram on the other hand I have found as far as F-8 As soon as I killed one if i was in the southern region I would head NW to scan and get the other you can almost guarantee that one will spawn almost right after you kill the first one. After you kill the second Ram about 5-10 minutes later The cycle will start over again. I killed 10 Battering Rams and 1 Lumbering Lambert in about 3 hours time so.....I lost about 3 of the kills while healing. When I engaged Lumbering Lambert (45THF/RNG1) I had about 2/3 HP and managed to kill him with the assistance of my Perfect Dodge. I had 74 HP remaining after the fight. Hindsight, If I was fully healed going into battle I woulda owned him without the 2-Hour. But hey time is of the essence in the NM hunting world so...gotta attack.. Bloodtear on the other hand owned me as a cocky lvl 24 THF back in the day and he does AGGRO. Not sure but I think I recall Lumbering Lambert aggro some newbs as they stopped to smell the roses by him one day. Bloodtear Baldurf is lvl 63 or so use caution when you see him. Horns sell for 1.5k Sandoria AH and skins 700 gil. I got the Lumbering Horn the first drop and have about 2 stacks worth of lanolin since I have been hunting these suckers over the last couple weeks. Lanolin is Rare/EX so cant trade but the vendors give me instant cash 700 gil a piece for the lanolin so nice to have instant gratification. If you're bored this spawns fast enough to keep you busy and put some cash in your pocket. Just be sure to have enough room to carry everything you dont want to have to go back to town after every kill. Hope this morning ramble helps someone.

pushover
# May 27 2004 at 2:02 AM Rating: Default
Honestly I think this thing is a pushover. I soloed it as a level 40 ranger with a level 15 ninja sub. I had my battle bow + 1 on me along with 2 archer’s daggers, and no armor. Before I tell you how the fight went, I will say that the ram has about 2100 total hp.

I started off the fight with shadowbind which ended up lasting about 30 seconds. I followed this up with sharpshot+barrage and eagle eye shot for a combination of about 1000 damage leaving it at about half health.

Before shadowbind wore off I was able to switch from scorpion arrows to my trusty sleep arrows (don't leave home without them if you're a ranger). The sleep effects on the arrows lasted about 5 seconds each (just enough time to shoot another) and hit for 90 damage each as well.

If you use this strategy like I did the ram won’t even touch you. Anyways, I ended up shooting it with the sleep arrows a total of 10 times including one critical. I finished him off with piercing arrow and that was that.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Of course it's a "pushover" as a RNG, when you can do 1000 damage in two freaking attacks! ^^

Now try soloing it at WHM40. ;-)

I was farming Rams when Lambert spawns. I was only a THF31/RNG14, so I knew I had no chance of beating it, but I asked a couple of Lv30+ LS friends to come around and we were planning to take it on. Sadly, as I called to them, a RDM34 and MNK~20 engaged it. After checking their levels, I realized they might not be able to beat it, so I called to my LS friends again and suggested they come ASAP in case the other people died.

Since I was bored, I walked up to Lambert and started doing silly emotes to it, like /poke and /comfort and /dance. :-D Soon it became apparent that the RDM was not going to survive, and his MNK friend was not doing nearly enough damage to steal aggro from him. Without my saying anything, he invited me, and I gladly joined in hopes of saving the RDM (after all, I'm not a mean guy).

I ran up behind Lambert, used Sneak Attack, attempted to burn my TP the instant I got it, and generally did whatever I could to either get hate or kill it before it killed the RDM. Sadly, it just hated the RDM far more than me, so the RDM guy died. We managed to finish it off right after he died (poor guy), and it dropped the Lumbering Lambert Horn and five skins. Yay for Treasure Hunter. :-) Turns out the RDM guy was trying to get the Horn for his MNK friend, so I let her have it, and in exchange, I got all the skins. Not bad, 2500 gil worth of drops just for stepping in to finish it off. ^^
My run-in with Lambert

Well, I ran into Lumbering Lambert tonight... Was on the way to Sandy (to start working on my RNG job) and there he was. I circled him a few times on my Choco and then checked his stats here. No one else around, and I was in one of those moods... so I had to try him. I'm at 30MNK and was sub-bing 10WHM, instead of my usual WAR, since I wasn't really expecting any action on the trip.

I jumped off my Choco, used Focus, Dodge, and Hundred Fists. Then realized I was out of Kabobs while I cast Dia to get his attention. Nice battle ensued. Things looked good for a while as our hp both went down at about the same rate. Halfway through the battle, another player shows up to watch the fun. He had nothing but a sliver left when I hit the dirt. Had I been subbing WAR and had my Kabobs - I think I may have made it. I then got to watch as the bystander took him down with no trouble.

I should have stayed my Choco... Now I have to go back after him sometime to settle my grudge.
HEhe

Well, I was just running to Sandy, with my Level 18BLM/8WHM and I saw it, and I was like, if It's in La Theine is can't be THAT hard, so I engaged with Blizzard and Bio, then i checked it (I forgot to check it at the beginning) and sadly, realized 143 isn't regular, and died in two hits, while I was lying there, lower level people in my LS were on a hill looking at it, it was funny. IT doesn't aggro though.

Does anyone know if Lambert has a respawn time? I've heard 24 hours, but that just hurt my heart, so I'm hoping it's wrong.

some info
# May 14 2004 at 9:13 AM Rating: Excellent
Here are some info for all of you who are trying to get your hands on the Lambert Horn ^_^

There is 2 spawn area for Battering Rams (placeholders for Lambert): first one goes from E-7 to F-8, second one from G-8 to I-9.

Battering Ram (or Lambert or Baldurf - the named Ram that spawn in La Theine) will spawn one time in the first area, the other time in the other area, and so on. The spawn time is approx 4h Vana'diel after its death IN ONE GIVEN AREA, but there can only have 1 Ram out at the same time and there's a 1h minimum interval between its dead in one area and its repop in the other one.

Hunting it is very simple with RNG as a main or subjob: go to the first area, use Widescan till you sight him or a Battering Ram, run to it, kill it, remember the time of the death, then go for the other area and do the same things. After the kill in the second area, go back to the first one and wait for the time to be approx. 4h after its last death in this area and widescan again. Repeat the scheme till you find Lambert or Baldurf (remember this one is a very tough mob !).

I would recommend a lvl 40 minimum to stand a chance solo.

Hope this helps !!

This thing is kinda tough, but only cause it has so much hp. I killed it with my lvl 40 mnk and was left with about 150 hp.

Lambert seems to spawn near the end of Wind effects in La Theine. Battering Ram seems to spawn near the end of Water effects in La Theine.

Now I'm not normally the kind of guy to take having to run away from a fight so hard, but I had to get revenge for almost dying. So I med to full HP - was at 15/556 HP and 4/221 MP at this point - and re-entered La Theine, angry. I tracked Lumbering Lambert to the normal spot and sent /tells to my friends - I mistakenly used LL and someone thought I meant Leaping Lizzy...lol - but no one can help. So I use a Rolanberry Pie - +50 MP - and med up the 50 MP I just gained. Then I begin again. Halfway through, a 61 THF comes nearby and I get an idea. I ask her to team up and help me finish Lumbering Lambert off. She puts her flag up and I invite her. She uses Sneak Attack and does 324 DAMAGE - needless to say, we beat him pretty easily after that.

Our spoils were:
- Ram Skin
- Ram Skin
- Ram Skin
- Ram Horn - she took this one as "payment"
- Ram Skin
- Ram Skin
- Lumbering Horn - I got this and all the Ram Skins
Failure...

I decided to camp Battering Rams in La Theine for Ram Horns and Skins. The second one was this guy. I decided to do a quick med after casting Enfire and Blaze Spikes. Some level 20 IDIOTS attack this guy and before they all die, the last one calls for help - doof - and runs towards the zone. I follow them. Near the crag, the guy goes down. I cast Sleep, then Blind, Paralyze, Slow, and finally Fire to wake it up. We're fighting just fine, and then when it's down to 10% hp, I only have 15 HP left and it uses Petribreath. Thank GOD it missed. I disengage, knowing when I'm beat, and Sleep in desperation, then HAUL MY HUME NEARLY-DEAD SELF TO THE ZONE.
Bahh!
# Apr 16 2004 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
Seen this guy twice, fought it both times. The first time there was a WHM that engaged it, but he invited me into his party. ^^ But he had quartermaster on and he didn't know what the darn horn was for. T.T The second time, HP was in yellow, but no one had engaged it yet and I could already see the chocos. -.O So I engaged it. I gave a pretty good fight. ONE more hit and it would've died, but I died instead. Some taru came and killed it in one shot.

Got a raise though. :) 40RNG/20WAR
