Vana'diel Bestiary: Nue  

I've camped this piece of Sh*t for almost 3 weeks straight RL. I'm 0/39 and have tried everything I can think of. As RDM70/THF35,/WAR, no buffs, no vokes, ate a 4 leaf mandy bud, even went afk while fighting, hoping I'd come back to a Nue Fang. NOPE! This tiger can officaly lick me where I pee cuz I'm getting very bored with his dumb ***. I had an easier time camping that stupid Morbolger for 7.5 hours.

Holy this is one stingy NM i am 0/30 on it i have all other items for brown belt exept this. The Malboro was better ; ;

Nue is a Biioootch .. but the fastest way to get him to spawn is to find a tiger, kill a doll, kill the tiger, then kill the other doll, repeat that way 2 tigers will spawn from now on,, lol that's it :/

I got the Nue Fang today.

I had to compete with another fellow Paladin (who had /thf) and a perfect timing control.

It spawned three times before I got the drop. Little cronology:

-I arrive and wait around 2 hours.
-Nue pops in the left side of the tower
-Darksday, no drop
-Wait more like 2.5 hours
-Nue pops in the right side of the tower
-Can't remember the day, lost claim but no drop
-Wait 35 minutes
-Nue pops in front of the tower (near)
-Dropped the fang (Earthday?)

3 placeholders (maybe more). Tigers spawn every 5 minutes (always +/- 10 seconds).

I suggest using /thf (I didn't) since I saw the PLD/THF steal like 15 Mytrhill Beastcoins (38k/stack in Alexander) so you can kill a Tundra Tiger...kill/steal from gobs 5 minutes..Tiger again...etc...

His spawn is stupid.

Killed him at 3:38 and then he popped again at 6:25.
The Tiger is the only Placeholder, dont have to kill the Goblins. And no, killing goblins doesnt delay the spawn, its just stupid.

This was a sinch. After only 30mins of camping, me and my cousin Elgreenerbeaner pop this thing. I remember reading somthing about killing other things like gobs and the statues, it will take longer to spawn. I found this to be a lie. We pummpled anything that spawned, we had a hard enough time with seeing as it is in this zone. I'm not going to lie though and tell you i was 1/1 on him. The last time and the time he droped his fang was the 6th time i had faught him. It was no big deal i enjoyed just kicking it in a place where i dont die >.> As soon as he pop we pummled him in less than 5 seconds. With me at 200tp and Elgreener being a 72 BLM we had no problum at all with this little kitty cat. /check Easy Prey

Easy stuff, was harder getting there. Fight was nothing compared to the dodo. He attacked fast but at 61 with 195 eva and +15 eva he didnt touch me. It's 1:58 AM and Imma sleep now. Good luck

Malboro is next.

Alright, I finally finished the purple belt quest yesterday, and I decided to start this one immediately. Last night I went to Sauromugue to hunt dodo. He spawned no drop. I logged out. Got on this morning and same thing, went to work, came home and am now 0/5 on dodo. Fed up, I went to beaucadine and to try my luck with nue. Took me about 45 minutes to get him to spawn, quick kill for a 59rdm. Dropped black tiger fang and nue fang. /cheer

/em dreads going back to Sauromogue.

From my own experience, I'd thought I'd offer some helpful tips for hunting this creature.

First of all, /thf sub is very important. As someone mentioned, because of the area that he spawns in, widescan is not as crucial. It's nice if you have it, but Treasure Hunter is key.

Nue's fairly easy to camp, since he spawns in such a small confined area, and there is only one place holder. Another tiger will pop if you kill a Living Statue, but from what I can tell it doesn't seem that this extra tiger spawn has any bearing on whether Nue will spawn. This may or may not be the case.

When you arrive, search the area until you find a Tundra Tiger (or wait until one spawns). Take down the Tiger, and when it's body vanishes, start your timer. The next spawn will be in five earth minutes. Do whatever you want during this time... kill gobs... kills statues... restore MP... go AFK... About 45-30 seconds before the next spawn, you want to refocus your attention on the next tiger pop. This usually means running in circles around the tower. I usually stationed myself behind the tower, and ran back and forth to where I could see the front.

Rinse, repeat. Nue can take anywhere from 60 minutes to several hours to spawn.

I found that his favorite spot to spawn is behind the tower, though I have seen him show his face in front. I highly recommend going with one or two other people, ALL with /thf. This will greatly increase your chances of getting the drop, and it's always nice to have an extra pair of eyes. Station one person in back, one in front. You can camp this on your own (I did it as a 66whm/thf), but it can be far more frustrating and less fun than if you're with friends. ^^

Don't be surprised if someone shows up five minutes before your NM spawns and gets claim after you've been working for over an hour killing placeholders. It happened to me twice. (T_T) There's not much you can do about that... NM's are fair game.

My stats: claims: 2/4 drops: 1/2 (got the drop pt'd with bst/thf, sam/thf, and whm/thf (me!))

Just got my Nue fang today...I log in and camp for 30 minutes. He pops, I kill, I get fang. I camped him for like 7 hours the previous day...just glad its over.

At last dropped, 1/16 without TH. Not much competition.
Patience, perseverance, you'll get it :)

Ok, whoever thinks that Nue is an easy drop and go is sadly mistaken... So far ive spent 10hrs straight camping him and im 0/4 on the drops. I wish SE would make these 100% drops like they do with the Purple Belt quest. Also, they should make it a set time cuz this is annoying camping it for hrs on end with no results.

If you're camping against other people, and a PT mate is fighting something else when Nue pops, <bt> macros are the ******* devil. I lost claim because the Mnk I was helping was taking on a gob when I hit my ranged macro, which was <bt>. That failed, so I ran up to it (while the other team of people were scratching their heads looking at it, waiting for the JA invincibility timer to wear off) and mashed my Mug macro.

Mug macro was also <bt>.

So the ******** who were camping against us (for money, neither of them had Mnk leveled, I had asked them personally) got the claim when the JA timer wore off, got the drop, and left. I'm sorely pissed off now because of it.

Moral of the story: <bt> macros with other PT members who like to kill things while waiting when camping an NM is bad.
