How do you get the offering for this fight? I checked a ??? spot but didnt get it? I am very confused on the offering.

Just did this helping a friend - party of 5 lvl 75s, WHM, PLD, RDM, BLM, RNG.
Very weak for a lvl 75 SMN NM. I thought Astral Flow was going to eat our pt but it did a maximum of 200 damage, too weak. Never even got near death, evaded throat stab 3 times :P.
Has a whole lotta HP though, opened with spirits for 700 damage and that HP bar flinched slightly but didn't move much. Low defence though - Slugshot for 1200.

Wow, this isn't that hard at all. There was a large group going this evening (15 people looking for a 70+ PLD to tank). I asked if I could come as well mostly because I wanted to see what it was like. I had no idea what was involved and didn't expect to get a drop. But after reading this I think I'll get the offering and then see when the next group goes out. Currently 61WHM/30SMN. I'll need to lvl SMN sub again soon so the Mitts would be cool.

you dont need whole aliances of crap to take down crimson, i had 2 level 75 summoners duo the crap out of him, both using fenrir, only time we nearly had casualty was when i spawned crimson, cause he searing lighted :x, luckily i had stoneskin on.. but yeh. it took them awhile, but they got the job done with perfect hp x_x. only dropped the carby mitts and a coat though -_-. was hoping it would drop light spirit pact so they had payment =P

went on this run last night with my ls... we had a full alliance of 60's+ most 70+ except for me (46whm) got 6 mitts... once we poped the tonberry it was dead in under 30 seconds... so defentley over kill to have a full aliance toook about 5 hours to assemble,get there, and kill all 6 everthing droped except for the light spirit... got 2 coffers and 2 summoner testomys while we were there though ^ ^

SE did not remove that glitch..i did this thing last night...blm cast invis on himself outside the door, and a pot opened it up for us. fought him 3 times with a 75 rdm, 75 smn, 74 smn, and a bunch of others. hes cake. just be sure to have blink, stoneskin, protect, phalanx up when you spawn him. he uses searing light at start, and again when hes at 50-25%

I did this about a month and a half ago with a 75 rdm/blm 75 blm/whm 75 smn/whm and me (55 smn/whm at the time)and we did fine....not even a full party let alone an alliance....just gotta have people that know what they're doing...and you don't need a prelate key to get in...use the glitch that lets you aggro the doll or pot or whatever behind the door....when it comes for you it will open the door just run through and kill it once inside

SE removed that glitch, i was casting spells in front of the door for 10 min while waiting for entire PT to get up there.

I hate this damn place. Ok today we attempted to do this. I spent 2 hours rounding up members and got to the temple, then the person with the prelate key had to leave. <twitch> so we got more ppl and headed off to kill stabbers. When we got there our ranger decided all of a sudden to spawn the berry NM for his axe weapon skill. Everyone but 3 ppl died. So we raised everyone and after guiding ppl who escaped back up we got prelate key first drop. Now we had a 42 blm who was leeching we pretty much had a death every area. So we went to the door blm dies i raise and we go down the hall. Then as i'm giving instructions the damn rng starts pulling!!! Then i stopped him and briefed them. The first fight went well but 2 tonberries spawned but i kept them asleep. The next fight was horrible. They pulled it way too soon and the other tonberries killed us >< our pld nearly had him dead when i raised a whm the dumbass whm decided hey i'll raise in the middle of the fight and get killed by carby 2 hr even though i'm ignore what our leader said. So i tried to keep the tonberry away from the pld and since i had 0 mp i died quickly. Pld died and the whm and i home pointed. Then the whm from windy says i'm sorry i didn't need the key for future sandy missions so i dropped it. So everyonne had to hope point. <sigh> on the bright side i still have my offering, looks like i'll have to round up another party and this time i'll get the key personally.
Um...I can't find any info about how to spawn this guy. Everyone talks about an "offering" of some sort. I'd like to know where to go and what to kill to get the offering to spawn this dude.

I joined up with a Carby Mitt run last night as a 56WHM. Being a taru I knew I would need tons of hp+ gear to survive, so I threw on some Pigeons and some other hp+ stuff.
We went in with this:
75 WAR/NIN 75 BRD/BST 70 NIN/WAR 69 BLM/WHM
66 RDM/WHM and me 56 WHM/BLM
We did fantastic, four successful kills (only needed 4) and not a single death. Light Carol was essential, and it cut Searing Light from ~600 to ~150. The WAR/NIN tanked it amazing well, only going low on hp a couple times to Throat Stab.
You don't NEED an alliance to pull this off, a group of 6 smart players with a solid tank can pull this off with perfection. I now have a wonderful pair of Carby Mitts!

7 successful runs last night. We avged 1-3 deaths a fight. Usually, it was a lower lvl mage that lost buffs before a Searing Light.
Light SC does work on him.
We were doing Heavy Shot -> SATA DRagon Kick all night and we were getting full SC dmg everytime.
Keep the elemental asleep. Keep stoneskin up. Not too bad of a fight.
As a 68 MNK, Searing Light was doing 187 dmg to me. Only twice did it to 750dmg.
Light SC does work on him.

Did this last night with quite a few people. I hope I can remember everyone...
SAM SAM PLD PLD BRD WHM SMN SMN SMN BLM BLM RDM
We had more people, but a couple dropped, either running away behind the manipulator door ("NO MAGIC! STOP CASTING! NOOOOOO!") when we got linked with 4 tonberries and a Hover Tank, and then others who couldn't stay the whole time. All in all we did this NM 7 times in a row for people with offerings. I died 6/7 times, but then again, I am just 50SMN (well, now 49 ;P). I didn't mind at all, I was running up to heal our paladin. It was a great adventure, people were very professional but we still had tons of fun. Light pact spirit dropped on the first time and we used that to pay the PLD.
Here's how it went:
First fight: Almost total disaster. Only one party stayed alive (3 party alliance), that one had the whm, pld, brd, sam and two blm
Second: Only one death, mine. I had given up the offering.
Third-Seventh: Minor mishaps, a pop during the 4th one, but we did it. Much fun.

Posted: Jan 16 2005 at 7:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well i bet you will never beat my record i payed 5 level 75 people to come help me the 75 SMN i paid was JP in full relic gear he had his own key to use and he had uber gear like mega gear so when we got him him i was level 36 i used reraiser after we cleared the room spanwed him died and watched them fight this bugger got 1 SL off before we killed him i mean like wow super fast did use throat stab twice and everyones rancor but one minute still

There are plenty of posts saying how to beat this guy, but how do I get to him? I lost a chance to get these gloves last night because nobody wants to post directions to him.
omg i would kill for these things....
I killed this guy with 7 people (3 of them though were just leeching including me so its mostly 5 people) anyways, we got 2 pairs of mitts then at the last fight everything respawned too soon, so we all died, we waited for whm to reraise and raise us all again though (Note: the tonberry does despawn
as we had to have someone come back with another offering, but we got 3 mitts and im happy now ^^
EDIT: only level 70+ we had was whm and mnk, only whm was 75
