Huu Xalmo the Savage Picture

This martial artist is the successor to the famous Aa Xalmo the Savage. The moniker is appropriate, considering Huu Xalmo is a man unusually proud and boastful of his savage nature.

Some/all of the information in this article has been culled from various FFXI guides, and translated by Elmer the Pointy.

There's some confusion in this thread.

This is the level 63 mob in present day Castle O, NOT the NM in Castle O (S).

BLM75/RDM37
SAM75/NIN37

No lie on the **** ton of HP. It took us about 15 minutes...I was nearly casting CureIII every 30 seconds. The ****** used Hundred Fists D: Slow & Paralyze is a good idea. The SAM ran outta shihei near the end of fight...but fortunately we made it through XD

Just basically solo'd this NM as PLD/RDM aka the Brick **********
Stoneskin/Phalanx/Pro/shell/blaze spikes up at all times

Epic fight!

I could have sworn he 2hr'd twice... but I know for sure about 50% he did
got 4 links when he was at 3% ... Oh my god. lol

2hr wasn't available, so I had to alternate sentinel and rampart when I needed defense

put reprisal up during his 2hr, that was fun. I used chivalry 2x during fight, I think I have maybe 1 merit in it. 20 min timer, so I'd say 20-25 min entire battle, not counting the time to clean up the links

The MNK who I was helping 2hrd at the beginning and brought NM down to 85%, he got countered to death tho. I had to take it the rest of the way

Hope you like your pants Blasius!
killing this bitch is easy

Any 70-75 RDM/BLM can do this its sooooo easy will only take 25-35 mins and you don't even need good dear.
I used all my +eva gear that I have for my thief and some Free AF pieces (head, hands, feet) Had +38 eva. Used Tav.Taco kept up stoneskin and phalanx.

Tactic: Clear lesser tier yags by stairs should be 2 or 3 hanging around there. Then kill the 2 near the torch that is right near that area. Was a BLM and a MNK obviously take those on one at a time. Once they are gone go pop this MegaHP *****.

I took 5 extra yag drinks just in case I screwed up or whatever. After poping this guy run back to where the lesser tier yags where and fight him in the middle portion of the stairs. Luckly I didn't get any adds untill he was at 10% because they poped more towrds the bottom of the stairs and walked away until they got curious far far later. This Xalmo has horrible accuracy and the only time he hit would be when he countered. DO this:

run him towrds middle-- have stoneskin and phalanx up and refresh your refresh
cast haste->icespikes->enblizzard. engage.
cast bioII, PoiII, and some BLM DoT is you want. Then smack and wack and snooze this is long and boaring.
At 300% TP Spirits within it will do about 2% dmg every time aroun530dmg
keep up your phalanx stoneskin and refresh. If you braught extra drinks use them you wont need them.
Convert when low on MP and Drain this A-hole he is really weak to Darkness damage.
Keep blind and BioII up it took me like 5 reg. hits at about 35-70dmg + 17dmg with spikes to take down 1%hp.
Try to have a convert when his 2hr comes up I had fun with him and did this.
HUNDRED FIST!mob was around 35-40% I cant remeber. made sure stoneskin and phalanx where ok did Fast cast BIND. ran back a bit Convert DRAIN DRAIN DRAIN DRAIN DRAIN Then enhanced my selfup BIND again and its over all those Drains did about 5% dmg woooo. Yeah he is boring. Had 4 of the lesser yags aggro
When he was at 10% not a prob sleepga. Aspir the Abbot and keep swinging through in some Drains whenever you take a bit of dmng. The most Xalmo hit me for with 405 DEF was 22 with a Crit. too weak. Complete Mnk AF hurrah

Anyway a well put together 75 paladin can solo this thing straight up? I know of the links i have seen it. But I think I could pull it off. The only other time i was fighting this this was a few weeks ago for a friend. I was doing fine against him (he wasn't really hurting me at all and I was using shield quite often) but we got aggro and i had to train the entire castle to the bottom zone to save them from death. I have no clue how I made it out alive but it actualy was pretty fun. Someone just let me know if I really would stand a chance since I will be needing the feather very soon.
Not too bad

Just duoed this today.
75 THF/NIN (me, needed feather)
75 BLM/WHM

I just fought like I would solo, it almost never landed hits on me and hit me for around 50 when it did. Linked a few, just focused on them, killed, and moved on. Used Perfect Dodge when he Hundred Fisted. BLM mostly just enfeebled and healed when I needed it, and took care of links. Nuked a bit at the end to hurry it up a bit. NMs got about 30,000 HP.

All in all not a hard fight, just took us about 15-20 minutes, BLM took no damage, I never dropped past yellow.
long but duo-able

Hey how did you get that xp stuff on the bottom of your screen? >.>

On topic: We were gonna trio with RDM75/BLM(moi), BST75/WHM, and MNK58/WAR(my bro). But there was a PT up top killing stuff for Aero IV and they offered help ^^; so in the end we got another... MNK SAM BLM BRDx2 RDM(afk -.-) PLD... all high level <_>

Funny thing is... the MNK kept hate most of the time... even when the PLD invincible to try tank the Hundred Fists xD.

I had to to to Castle Oztrajoa 4 times to finally kill him. It's near impossible to find enough people willing to help kill him.
I tried 2 times with 3 lvl 70+ and 2 lvl ~60s we got him to about 1/2 HP each time and the second time the PLd's invincible didn't do jack suqat! instead he came after me. then the 3rd time we didnt evenget to figh tbecause we all died doing the other yags.
Finally killed him w/ alliance of 10 people (2 lvl 70+ NIN tanks) ^^ it felt so good seeing that jerk die, and I'm finally the "Paragon of Monk Excellence" :D

i did this recently for my monk as a 72 nin/war with a 75 rdm/blm friend of mine, also a 66 whm (who just wanted club skill-ups..lol).

to be honest, if the spawn area were kept free of respawning links, i'm pretty sure my rdm friend could easily solo huu xalmo. i let him tank the entire thing. he wore -phys dmg gear, like genbu's shield, cheviot cape, & jelly ring. phalanx, stoneskin, protect 4, & blaze spikes. amazingly, huu xalmo never once broke stoneskin, even during hundred fists. stoneskin just wore off over time. we didn't enfeeble huu xalmo at all; we wanted him to hit my friend as much as possible..lol. we didn't use any cures on the rdm, the rdm actually cured me and the whm after those sweeping AoE attacks..lol.

i will say though, this guy has a ton of HP and a very high counter rate, so stand behind or to the side if you don't want to tank. the fight went a long time for the 3 of us, but we finished about 3 minutes before the first respawn of the yagudo in the area. there would have definitely been respawn links if i hadn't added my katana damage. i think he could've solo'd it and dealt with links if he pulled it down the stairs a little to the slightly easier yagudo (abbot, sentinel, etc.)

even as a mnk with really nice gear, i gotta admit:

rdm = mnk-destroyer

a knowledgeable well-equipped rdm like my friend would destroy any monk in ballista in a 1 on 1 fight (assuming no endless supply of medicines used). protect 4, stoneskin, phalanx, blaze spikes, -20% phys dmg vs. 0 buffs. sleep 2 or bind the monk, buff-up, put bio 2 on the monk and the monk is doing such pitiful damage but taking so much from blaze spikes alone. try to run away to chi blast kite or if you somehow break through SS and do actual damage? gravity or bind, rebuff, continue.
too easy

Had some people of my ls help me out the other day. we were with 9, a level 56 mnk being the lowest, me being the lowest after that. The rest was 60+, some close to 70 and a 75 whm. Then at the second level of Oztroja the whm found a buddy of him farming there, so a 75 war and 60+ whm helped me as well lol. With 11 people (most 65+) this fight was hilarious. Nobody even got close to dying. Have to add that this thing got a crazy counterrate though.
And hell I learned Howling Fist during this fight, immediately used it on him, voila 660 damage ^^ wiiiii...I love it.

Indeed make sure to kill the other stuff in the room first.

Peace out

Well I tried this today with disasterous results.

Granted, we did not go up there with the intent to kill it - but we decided to do so since we were there.

I popped it and a few minutes into the fight, I realized that this guy would not go down easily. He has an INCREDIBLE amount of HP.

It was a slow but steady fight, but we had some slight control of the situation. That was until...

....the mobs in the area respawned.

One link turned into two, and then three. The BRD kept trying to sleep and was successful but one by one we were getting killed. The NM had at the very least 1% life left before we were all killed.

If you are going to do this, MAKE SURE YOU JUST KILLED THE MOBS IN THE AREA. If there is a single link, there is going to be a BIG problem.

If nothing linked, we would have killed it.

Well we redid it, and with a lot more successful results.

This time we made sure to kill all possible outside links. We had six people, NIN, BRD, RDM, MNK, DRG, SMN and we basically owned him.

One of the mistakes I did last time before was slap Hundred Fists before he did the same. This time I waited for him to end Hundred Fists before slapping my own. He is rough, but without links he is controllable.
scary

I fought this guy with my other character (lvl 64 sam/30 nin) in a pt of lvl 60-70. We had two war, a drg, three whm, two blm, and a brd. We killed him twice but most died the third time for some reason. The two left standing, (war and whm) were able to kill him and the whm raised most of the dead. We went our separate ways after that.

This week I finished AF3 - Monk. It was not an easy task on MANY levels.

Because it is so hard to get high level alliances going, I decided to invite some of my monk friends on the server so they could get their feather too. Overall we had 5 monks to get the feather for so thats 5 X's we had to kill the NM.

I ended up getting 3 almost full PT's together in an alliance and with that I was pretty sure this NM wouldn't be too difficult. Gathering everyone up to meet in front of Castle Oztroja took around 30 minutes alone!

We finally all get together and a couple of people had run ahead because they were bored of waiting (completely understandable). So when we all got into the castle, we saw some treasure drop. First instinct for most people is to lot, the player that killed the mob asked if he could have it and the people that lotted, changed it to pass. But as always when an alliance of high levels forms, a big fight started with one of the leaders of one of the parties and that party was in the same LS and decided to dip.

So now we have 2 parties, which made me very concerned taking on this NM. Luckily I had some high level friends with me, 75RNG, 75WHM,68PLD and many others. So I decided that we could still do it with 2 Parties.

It is really easy to find this area where the NM spawns. You simply need to goto the second floor then through the door with the 4 levers. At that point, you will need to take prism powders or have invisible casted on you and just follow the way up. Make sure to stay away from the leeches.

As you follow the stairs up, you will come up on 2 torches. The first one has the "???" that you will need to trade the yagudo drink to.

You will need to clear out any mobs in the immediate area near the torth to not get aggro during the NM fight. Since I put this whole shennanigan together, I decided to trade my drink first.

Traded... then spawned... Huu Xalmo the Savage!

Well, his job is Monk, so he is most definitely a bada** :P. He really was not terribly difficult. He does use Hundred Fists and his Counterattack must be +50. Practically every 2nd hit that I nailed him with. I was countered back for a decent amount of damage. We all WS'ed the hell out of him and he dies, boom I get the feather.

Then we kill him 2 more times. Some PT shifting around occurs because some people had other obligations. We had another player that was heading up to the 3rd floor to help us out.

Well, the worse thing possible happened. We were fighting the NM again and low and behold I see the player run by... with around 9 of those high level yagudos on him!!!

He runs by and then dies... the yagudos decide to return to their spawn area... but wait! They see us fighting and just about every member of the alliance had at least 1 yagudo on them while we are fighting the NM.

Unfortunately the one BLM we had left prior to this fight, so both WHM's quickly started casting Teleport-Mea. Those 2 managed to get us all out without 1 death!

So we we are all waiting at the crag, healed up full, grab chocobos and headed back. We got back, went back to the area and luckily, the yagudos returned to their areas and the NM despawned. We killed him 2 more times and everyone got the feather that needed it.

What a crazy experience, but it was FUN!

well. i would say a PT of 60s could maybe kill it ( with 2 hours ) and a alliance of 12 member 60s can kill it for sure. so it isnt that super hard ;)
