Vana'diel Bestiary: Steelfleece Baldarich  

Hehehe, I just killed this guy, together with a full party.

I was in eldieme necropolis with a whm friend and a stray pld helping me get a papyrus for the lvl 50 cap quest (still haven't got it though grrr). All of a sudden the pld says: Tele-dem. hurry! hurry!

So my whm friend ported us to dem, and the pld started inviting some people who were around. Then we found steelfleece chasing some lvl 30-40 guy. Just before he died he called for help, so I was scared we wouldn't be able to get any drops, cuz it would have been in that orange thingy it gets when someone calls for help. Luckily it didn't stay that way, and the fight began.

I'm not sure how long we were fighting, cuz it was so exiting that I lost all sence of time, but it took somewhere between 10-30 minutes to bring him down. The party setup was as follows:

lvl 50 thf (me)
lvl 60 pld
lvl 55 whm
lvl 55 whm
lvl 50 rdm
lvl 51 whm

So you understand the party didn't have a lot of firepower ^^

We didn't get the shield though, but at least I got that rare/ex horn and my title is The Hornsplitter ^^

hehe yesterday i kicked this guy's sorry *** with my LS. we were doing genkai 3 and as we teleported to dem, our RDM spotted it on widescan. lol as we buffed up 4 the upcoming fight, a lv 45 rdm showed up and pulled it.....solo :p hehe that sucker was dead in like 5 hits. and everybody laughed at him lol. my PT was build of 6 people from lv 57-61. rdm, rdm, blm, whm, rng and me (sam). i used 5 penta thrust in a row to inflict crazy 4-5k dmg to it. but our rng really raped it: sidewinder > barrage > sidewinder > eagle eye shot and BOOM it was dead hehe. it was such a noob, hit me only for like 50 per hit. one of us made a video of the fight but somehow i cant watch it, maybe u can so check it out:

Me and a level 22 WAR friend were hutning rams, and we were wondering why none had spawned.... so we grab chocobos, and start running around.

Low and behold, we find this badass, standing on the corpses of a party of level 10s. Me and me friend make all sorts of shouts, including challenging people to fight him.

2 level 65s show up, and try and fight him (THF/RNG and WHM/BLM) ... THF gets smacked around, even after 2hr, WHM wasn't far behind. Most incredible thing I've ever seen. I took about 50 screencaps, if anyone wants to see em.. well... erm, reply and I'll post 'em.

So I was trying to get kazham keys for a new character today, and I asked a lv 75 RDM/ 37 WHM for help. He agreed, and after we had gotten the Gid. and Pal. keys he teleported us to Kon. We are riding along and see this guy. We look at it for about a minute, and then he hops off his chocobo and starts to fight it. I get a little scared, I didn't know if he would be able to take this thing or not. But, he did. The battle did take about 20-25 minutes of course, and after it died, no Viking Shield dropped :(. We did get 2x Ram Horn and 1x Rampaging Horn, and I let him have both, then he gave me 30k for waiting during the fight :D. He was really nice, the most helpful person I have met so far. Anyways, was an amazing battle, and now I have am honoring RDM as the kings of Vanadiel.

My friend and I (lvl 25THF/12MNK and 25RDM/6BLM) were on our way to Bastok on chocobos so that I could help her with her rank 3 mission, and while she was afk for a minute, I spotted this NM. I started following it on my chocobo, and shouted its location for anyone interested. I also told my LS about it, but not many people were on (this was at about 3 in the morning, EST). My friend gets back, and we're talking to our LS about it. None of us knew the thing's lvl, and some people were telling us to just try and fight it. After a bit of debating whether or not this would be smart, we of course decided to do the stupid thing and try to take it on. Haha. I used Boost and Sneak Attack, then attacked it from behind for a whopping 5 damage. x_x It turned around and hit me twice for about 260 a hit, killing me. My friend ran off, but followed it from a distance to keep everyone up-to-date on its location. It eventually saw her and aggroed, though, so she died too. Eventually a lvl 44 BLM from our LS showed up to try his luck, and he got owned too. Luckily, a WHM wandered by and raised us. I think my friend has a fear of sheep now. XD I don't blame her though, I have a fear of octopi after my run-in with the Sea Horror. :P

Here's my story:
Last night we were looking for something to do cause we were waiting on friends to log in to party. (We = 58 rdm, 58 mnk)So we go to konchtat to farm sheepskins and the rampaging ram horn to do the purple belt quest. So the mnk has a thf sub, and I (rdm) have a lvl 6 rng sub for wide scan. Well anyways, we meet up with a lvl 61 whm friend while there and he needs the skins, so we all farm the area for hours. Suddenly I see Steelfleece's name in wide scan. Now I know how tough this beast is, but my first reaction is to run up to it and hit my "found it!" macro for my LS to see. Needless to say, he can detect you from quite a distance! :p Well anyway he charged me and was beating my **** pretty bad when my 2 other friends ran up and pulled it off me. In the mean time we are screaming for help on our LS. We were holding it pretty good, but not doing much damage. Fortunatly one LS member made it just in time for me to add her before I got crushed. Bad news is I was the party leader, so when the others arrived, I couldnt add them because I was dead. In about 30 seconds the area filled up with high lvl people with their LS's...(no idea how they knew he was there :/) I was spamming: "Raise III"? in the translator when one of them kindly hopped off their choco to do it...just in time I might add because 2 more LS mates ran up right before the others were out of mana. After adding them the fight was pretty much over. They pretty much crushed him quickly. But for me it was the first time to fight such a difficult mob, si I was very excited. And I have to say how impressed I was that the other members were able to get to us so fast. They were in Castle Zephal Baily's and ran to the Vahzl crystal and had to pay 2k for a teleport to get there! But anyway we didnt get the sheild drop, but it was a blast and a great rush to have the experience to fight him. We also got the title: Hornsplitter after defeating him. But we deffinatly were not prepared to engage in battle in the first place. So if you ever see him, dont get too close until after you buff yourself up for battle.

Me (level 64 whm) and a level 75 jpn Dark Knight took him down no problem. I'd say all ya need is a hard hitting level 75 melee and yer set. I thought it dropped more then what it did tho, sorta sucked. Just got a rampaging ram horn, 3 skins and a horn or 2. Was fun fighting him tho.

Okay, so I guess it's my turn for a random Story. Today, I was bord waiting for some friends to get on to party. I'm just sitting around in Valkurm helping all the PS2n00bs get their support jobs. So, I end up getting a few worms for the little party I am in, and they needed some Magiced Skulls... So I think, "Hey! What's a better place to kill ghouls by Valkurm than Gusgen Mines! So, a n00b and I head off to Konschtat Highlands and start running over by the Crag, and I see this HUGE beast appear. I was like, "AH HA! It's the NM that killed me in one hit when I was at level 18!!" So, I am like, "Hey Mr. n00b, stay back. This thing will own you." And he is like, "Okay Mr. Black Mage sir!" And I am like, *poison! agro wooo*(thinking it is only lv30 because I was once told it was lv30... but I guess that was rampaging ram...) and WACK! 1/4 health. (me going in as a 41 blm didn't help much!) I manage to Elemental Seal and SleepII it... I ran away after two hits being down to 98 HP. Then I am like, Ahh why not, "Fire II!!" Next thing I know, half way though the cast I am dead. My poor little friend is crying like, "Oh no! How do I use the auto-translate function?!" And I am like, "FIND ME A RAISE LOSER" And he is crying, so finally I /tell my friend in my linkshell, she ports to crag of dem and raises me. I go to show her this ram, by time we get to where it was going, I see a taru monk and taru whm in full AF armor just sitting there healing, and I am like, "NM Death? (with Auto translate) and they replied in English, yes. They got the Shield, I got to be dead, and they got to watch me heal. So all in all... just saw it, it was an incredible fight. a WAR a taru mage and a nother one killed this thing! awesome!

seen it the other day, there was a 65 dragoon, hitting for 950ish points with mighty strikes on, wasnt even budging the NM's hp bar, was an amazing battle, PC's prevailed after a long fight.

Saw a lvl70 Tarutaru RDM kill this thing, took about 10-15 minutes and plenty of phalanx, stoneskin, refresh and vorpal blade. Vorpal did about 500 damage every time and it hardly even touched this thing's HP...

hahahhaha so me and all my lvl 67 samurai glory has the nerver to face this giant (dignity can be bad) so i already have known about this NM cause its killed be when i was lower....so i walk along today and what do ya know hes there! i think time to get revenge so i walk up use my 2 hour which gives full tp and i can use three tp attacks the fight was going well i took him down to 5/6 just with my tp then when iu was at 1/2 hp and he was at liek 1/6 the dreadful mighty strikes happened! needless to say i was defeated but it was a good battle and some lvl 70 came behind me and slaughtered it and then says ^^ in /t and i was pissed the WHM didnt even ******* raise me!
