Vana'diel Bestiary: Crypt Ghost  

Argh, I camped this thing for over an hour, about 40 minutes in a level 60+ PLD comes in and waits for the spawn. Perfectly understandable, he's insanely rich, he wants to be slightly richer, whereas I, a level 25 RDM, needed the slacks very badly. But the thing that bothers me most is that, as much as I tried to be friendly, he wouldn't answer. I figured he was japanese, so I use the translator, saying "<Hello!> <Nice to meet you.>" no answer. So again I try: "<Excuse me...> Can you speak English?>" Eventually I tried playing AFK, just let a bat almost kill me, to see if he'd come to my rescue... But nope, he stans there, making no attempt to help. I have to cure myself and barely beat the bat. Then after about an hour has gone by, more bats spawn, they attack me, I struggle to kill them... Then all of a sudden I hear the sound of Ice Spikes. He kills it in a few hits. I ask as nicely as I know how: "<Trousers> <Do you have it?>" (meaning of course the slacks) to no reply, then he runs out of the room, logs out, and reappears 10 minutes later, waiting to steal Cryptie from me again... Well, back to farming.

This guy is either really tough or really crappy. I killed him twice with no drop but both times he spawned once a Vana'diel day. As a lvl 30 monk with warrior subbed (provoke to beat the other campers) I pwned him the first time. Another time i come back and this fool almost kills me and the only thing that saved me was hundred fists I finished 1st with 560/613 hp and 2nd time with 96/613 hp. Anyway, thought I'd share that story with you all.

this happened to me tonight too, not just by crypt ghost, but by gruel too. Some jack *** high lvl player came into my camp claiming the camp his even though I had been sitting there for 20 mins already! he kept saying how much of a noob I was for believing in etiquette. Simply put, when someone is camping, don't be rude and jump into someone's camp claiming it for yourself, when you know someone's been there. The jack *** actually told me that he claimed BOTH camps! talk about greedy inconsiderate SOB! He kept calling me a noob even though I'm above 30 DRG. I'm sorry, but claiming 2 camps at the same time even though someone is in them is rude and incnsiderate and it makes you that much more of an *** if you start calling them names for simply having been there to in the camp first. if you leave a camp, I can understand if he left for 1 minute, but for 20? I'msorry but by then your camp is up for grabs... besides, for all I know, he could've made that up just to get me to leave camp. It also made me wonder why such a "better" player like him was hunting in tomb, when he could hunt better NM's
mora simply put. If you come to a camp and see someone in there, be considerate and hunt another NM somewhere else. the majority of the players in FF follow this. If you don't, not only are you considered and ***, but you can easily become black listed, and next time they see you hunting, they might not decide to be as considerate. Besides, it sucks that you have to sit around for hours on end as it is, only so some idiot comes along and steals your kill.

LOL.. this B**** wont Drop, I'v killed it 7 times in about 7hrs and still no Drop all i got is a Root. EeeP :S

could i kill it as a lvl 24 war??

So I was camping this guy because I needed the Martial Slacks to actually use, and I ran into the first jerk I've met so far in this game. I spent about an hour sitting there and killing every bat that spawns (they are EP at my level but still do a fair amount of damage) and then at the 2nd to last bat spawn this level 50 taru comes in. He keeps saying "[name] points at the Crypt Ghost." to try to fool me, and then I get a phonecall from my mom and answer it. Right when I go to hang up the phone, the ghost spawns and the guy dia's it and beats it up, then gets the slacks.

"lol u n00b ty for killing the bats for me i needed the money :)"

Man... It made me so mad I actually shut off the game, which is a first for me.

So, I guess the moral of the story is--if you're hunting lottery spawn NMs, wait around int he other room for some low-level to kill the mobs for you, then run in right when it spawns and steal it so you can make money.

I guess I was lucky because first time I killed him he dropped the martial slacks. I tried three times after that though and it didnt drop :(.

This is not a notorious monster. It cons "Too Weak to be Worthwhile" to me.

i have killed it 3x with each dropping something, 1st time- revival tree root, 2nd time- cotton cloth and 3rd time- martial slacks.
it seems to spawn every 30mins to 1hour
on serpah server atleast, it is bearly camped ever so i suggest just goin and killin it once, see if u get lucky. I say kill it once cause its under camped usually so it shouldnt take long to force the first spawn, but the second will take longer.

i have killed this nm like 10 times with my rdm friend nothing ???

I'm a 31 War/Rng and I was helping this lv 25 guy kill the bats so he didn't have to worry about them too last night. Anyhow, we sat there for a while and finally at 20:00 on the dot Cryptie spawned. Guy fought him, didn't drop squat. Actually some cloth and various other garbage, NOT what he was after, so I decided I'd stay another game day and kill the bats for him. Anyhow, it didn't spawn again at 20:00, but it DID spawn at around 01:30 or so. Bizarre. Seems totally random but maybe at least once a game day. I dunno. I only saw it twice so that's no real measure.

I did some NM hunting last night and fought the Crypt Ghost 6 times getting the slacks only once. I thought at first that he only came out at night but he then spawned at 10:00 which is morning and proved me and others wrong. It seems that he comes out once a game day though.

well after 3 spawns and kills and although ive only seen him spawn at night i have gotten the martial slacks and as well as some other junk

I can confirm it DOES spawn during the day, I killed it after about 45 min. of bat killing there. It was around 13:00 when it spawned. (I managed to get marital slacks, it was 1st time killing it :D )
