I was in the Quicksand caves with a group that was level 46-49. We were mainly killing Anticans and our puller saw this guy spawn. We all fully healed and buffed and took him on. It took awhile and used up most of our mp and alot of hp before we took it down. I used my 2 hr and at least one other pty member used their's. Drops were crystals, antican robe, and loxley bow. I had bad lot so no bow. Saw him again 2 nights later in same place and were doing OK till he Eagle Eye Shot me for 560 dmg and killed me. Worst part was I was ready to pull the 2hr trigger and he beat me by maybe a second. With my death the battle went downhill and the WHM used benediction and tried to zone but was hit with Gravity? and couldn't so she was killed. The rest of the pty made it but since we lost WHM pty broke up.
My LS's level 48/49 static was xp'ing in QSC, and they planned for that when Sagittarius would spawn, they would invite me (58RNG) and my friend (59BLM) to help kill it. Well, shortly after I arrived in QSC it spawned, we easily killed it (missed me while doing Eagle Eye Shot, that was memorable :P), but only got 560 gil, 2 dark crystals, 2 iron ores and an Antican Pauldron. After that, the static left, then my 55MNK and 60BRD friend came, and we killed off Antica for the next 4 1/2 hours with no spawn. x_x
I wish I knew the respawn time.

im a sggitarius too ^^
went to quicksands to scout out the location as a rng 62 / nin 31. it didn't seem feasable to solo all of the placeholders, as they were still easy prey. my brd 61 / whm 30 friend came out and we cleared the hastatus' and signifiers. after they were all cleared, mr sagittarius x-xiii pop'd to my delight. :D
shadowbind > barrage > sidewinder > eagle eye.
less than half it's hp is gone, and it uses eagle eye on me for 483. i switch to xbow with bloody bolts and sleep bolts, but the sleep bolts don't work well, and the bloody's just don't do enough. i ended up dying, the bard got to the zone safely. after a raise, and the bard had to go to set pt, i asked my 73 whm friend to come and she does :D
first round with the 73 whm we get linked and have to zone :X
after resting a bit i pulled him towards the zone and we killed him easily. he did NOT do eagle eye again, which made it much much easier. he did aoe silence once, but my whm friend had echo drops ready. [such a great player she is :D ]
drops: 2 iron ores, 1 antican robe, 1 mythril ore, and 1 loxley bow.
thank you server maintenance for making this a 15 minute camp :D

He popped again a few mintutes ago, we were all 45-46. Killed him with no trouble at all, got a bunch of ores and the bow! :)
Tonight I was leveling in Caves when a slightly higher party got this guy...he killed someone in their party, and right when he was about dead, someone in their group called for help on it. I couldn't help but wonder wtf they did it for...the rest of their party was capable of handling it...

This guy is pretty easy, I remember back a long time ago I was lvling and this guy spawned. Had JPs in the pt saying we should take it out, so I was like sure ok. We were around lvl 48 or so(dont really remember all that well).When he was like at 40% HP he used Eagle Eye Shot and killed our mnk, so then me and the pld both 2hrd and I finished him off with Meikyo Shisui. Got the drop, but sadly I got it even though I'm not a rng ><. hehe
I've camped this with a good RNG friend of mine (lv60) for something like 20 total hours or so. The Ants that he's lotteried from are good for skilling up 100-160 or so. I can confirm that he pops in the donut-shaped room just inside the H-10 entrance in East, from the 3-4 Ants that spawn in there. For all this time I've only seen him pop once (he got taken by a high level whm/nin camping it). My RNG friend got him solo once and beat him through the use of about 75 Sleep Arrows (to allow Utsusemi to be cast) (no bow drop of course ><). Anyways as a lottery pop, and with so few mobs to pop from, don't go in expecting to see him pop very quickly. Also note that people will come and XP on the lottery mobs too, which can ruin your day unless you're such a jerk that you keep killing them anyway ^^;. If this happens all you can really do is skill up on the mobs slightly deeper and try to keep a good eye on what pops (any good XP PT in this area can and usually will take it). Hope you have better luck than we have ; ;.

Nothing is fishy about a 47-48 party taking this mob. Last night Friday, June 3rd. Me (46 white mage, along with a 46 SMN that was japenese (rank 10), 47 pal, 47 ninja Japenese (rank 10), 47 Samuri, and finally a 47 monk. This party was the greatest party by far that i had ever been in. We took the monster with no problem. No deaths at all, everyone had close to full health except for once the Paladin almost died. The Summoner took my role as white mage and summoned at the same time. It means something when i'm able to blow off curing and cast dia a majority of the fight to raise my Enfeebling Magic! went seriously from level 32-114! Amazing! Suray took over my cures faster than i could get a chance too! (SMN) He was the best player and had the fasted reaction speed i've ever seen. Name is "Suray" on the Asura server. He is crazy! Well that monster is possible to kill even with a 46-48 party proven by my post... a little hard to believe... yes, but it is possible and I was one of few that has had a party good enough to take it on at that level. I gained 3 levels that night, from level 46-49! in about 4.5 or 5 hours i think. It was an all nighter but it was worth it. The first time we killed it that night we god nothing for a drop. The second time however we got the mythril ore, the antican Robe, 3 iron ore, and finnally the bow! Guess who got the bow!.... The SAMURI! We didn't have a ranger so he was the only one that wanted it. I don't even know if he wanted it either... :( A sad ending to a great story... too bad someone who needed it couldn't have had it... Damn them Rare Exclusive items! Note: no 2 hours used in the battle whatsoever.

Lol you are a decent WHM yourlself, one of the better ones ive partied with, cuz i dont have to deal wiht having to constantly cure as a RDM.

we were fighting in quicksand caves near the entrance and our drg almost walked right by him. but we grabs him and pulled him back. at the time we were 46-47 and we took him out no one died. he droped 2 iron, mythril, a couple of dark crystals and a robe. was fun

does anyone know the repop timer for this mob, ive looked across the web with no luck
i asked a few hi-lev rangers (75 rank 10's) on my server (quetza) and they said 2hrs.
i dont buy it however.
ive camped him the last 4 nights running for 5 hrs each night, and no pop.

He's not on a strict timer, per se I dont think, though my estimate would be about 3 hours. I believe its a lottery pop (IE sometimes he pops instead of the usual anticans). I XPed in there pulling anticans (and the occasional beetles) from the spot hes at on three different sessions for about 3-4 hours each time, and in every case I saw him once at some point in the session.
Are you certain that you were camping in the right spot? He's in the first square annular room (H-9 to I-10) in the entrance to QSC that you get to from East Atlepa, H-10. Based on my experience of seeing him spawn twice (the other time i didnt see the spawn, somebody had already pulled and almost killed him by time i went to go pull) there is no particular antican spot in that room that he takes, as one time he popped into the spot the very closest to the path to the exit, and one time he popped in the back of the room on the far side of the pillar.

i was in the caves hunting for my coffer key for my sam AF, and he showed up, he was a tough AOB, i was level 53 and my bud was level 58 sam and we had a level 61 whm with us, he almost killed the sam. we got 1k for killing him and he droped a bow that looked worthless. but, whats funny we got key after that kill on another ant, and the whm went to go find coffer. well he found it i used a sneak oil, half way there it ran out, but i dropped in a hole just in time to escape the wrath. well my firend and i were just sitting there waiting for whm to come get us, about a min later 13 or more ant guys all came after me and killed me fast. they came back raised me then we went to go open coffer, to just find out that you cant open a coffer in weakend state, well my sneak waore off and i died a bloody death. when i fell to the ground, i fell right by the coffer.... my head was being hidden by the coffer... it sucked bad
Are we sure about the level 55 on this? I have fought and defeated this twice while XPing (no bow). First time was with a party with max level 47-48 (cant recall), and we got capped XP (250 = 200 + chain #2). Next time was with max level 50 and we got in the 160-170 with no chain (cant recall exactly). Checking the XP charts, If it was level 55 it would have given 168 to lvl 47, 150 to lvl 48, and 108 to lvl 50). in the first case it has to be at least 10-11 levls over 47 or 48 to give capped XP, and in the secodn case it looks strongly like it gave +8 or +9 lvl xp (150-168). This leads me to conclude that its most likely lvl 58 and not 55.
Ovearll if you can easily chain the ants in the area its a pretty easy battle. Has a few more HP that the standard ants (though dies faster than the hardest PLD ants in the area), and the eagle eye shot hits for big damage so you need to be ready with big heals for taht, but other than that its a pretty standard ant battle. Oh yeah i didnt get adaman ore, but i did get mythril onetime and darksteel the other.

Just a regular day of leveling, and all of a sudden I found him on my Widescan, and asked my party to fight it so I could get the bow ^^. They were a little skeptical on whether we could take it, but most of them were good friends of mine, so they agreed to help.
At first we were going to just try to take him out alone as we were (Lv 48 Party: MNK, PLD, RNG, DRK, RDM, WHM)... But, right before we were about to engage we noticed a lvl 75 Taru DRG and a lvl 60 WHM were passing by. They were japanese, so I had to use the TAB function, but they understood and agreed to help :D.
So we attacked, and the DRG prettymuch tanked it the whole time. He almost died though when Eagle Eye Shot brought his HP all the way down to 25 (I think it did about 700+ damage), but I used my Eagle Eye Shot at the same time and then I was tanking. We managed to do a pretty good job though other than that.
We got all the normal drops, and also the Loxley Bow. My party members lotted against me thinking it would be funny :O... I almost had a heart attack. They all said "Don't worry, If I get it I'll trade it back to you", I was like "NOOOOO!!!!!! Its EX, you can't trade it!!!!! /cry"... They said "oops." Luckily, my lot was the highest, and I got the bow.
I danced happily with everyone in the area, and then we went back to leveling. The two high levels bowed, and continued on their way.

He doesn't sound like a lvl 72 mob to me. lol
My full party of 46-47 killed this one pretty easily after we figured out what we were doing. No bow drop though. We did however get 1 Antican Robe, 4 Dark Crystals, 2 Iron Ores, and 1 Adaman Ore. Still not a bad haul!
anyone get the bow to drop?
Had an alliance of 2 groups (43-48) take him down and he did drop the bow. It was rare/ex, and even though the alliance agreed that it should go to either of the 2 rangers in the alliance, the white mage in the other group lotted on it anyway and won the bow because she thought she "might play ranger some day".

fought this NM with a full party of lvl 48 war, rdm, whm, blm, rng, and a lvl 50 drg, im the war so i got 158exp and 500gil.
Drops were Dark crystalz not ice, 2 iron orez, 2 mithlir orez, 1 darksteel ore and ant beastmen normal drops..but there was no bow
i think it spawn on behalf of the other mobz after fightig for 2 hours he suddenly appeared and no other mob was around we took him as the last fight we were not sure of winning but it was a nice fight but it had a bow so from time to time he wil use it causing masvie dmg so be carful, i think a lvl 60 can solo it.

oh and hes not a gigas. hes an antican. a ranger type antican. hes pretty huge.

a 12 man alliance of LVL 47-49 took it
i tanked half of it. it does 100 dmg to me.
it also drops ademen ore (125k at odin),iron ore and i forget a few others.
The two parties were camping at the G/H-10 Entrance i think he spawned on Earthsday.
