me a 55drk/27thf and my friend ever 56rdm/28blm just killed this ta gather. we were both about 3/4 our stats for last battle. we r healign and i c it and marco his name 20 times. we pull it and a gob near it aggros us same time. ever sleeps it while we pound on the nm. almost died a few times but he kept me alive... some how ~.~` we got thunder 4 and 2 gob helms. over all.... ez fight

Well, I fought this nm twice in two days, dropped the same thing both times, Thundaga III, goblin armor, and a moldavite earring.
The first time I brought a lvl 61 rng friend with me and I went as my lvl 47 blm. He decides to kill a mushussu in the next room to build tp when we see the nm just sitting there in the middle of the spawn room. A lvl 73 whm was farming cockatrices and just sat there.
I see on my log Ranger: Ranged Attack >>> Mysticmaker Profblix, so I get to curing as soon as it starts. The ranger does sharpshot > barrage > sidewinder > eagle eye shot for more than half of it's hp then the nm casts freeze for 1.2k dmg and kills him >< His name goes yellow so I cast stun on him and invite the whm, who eagerly accepts and pulls aggro from me when I have about 100 hp left. After we finish him off (My thunder II killed him ^^) I lot for the earring (17 point lot) and after about a minute it says "You do not meet the requirements to obtain the moldavite earring. Moldavite Earring lost"
I couldnt believe it. My inventory was full...
After a days break I grab a very nice lvl 75 blm and 75 drk to help me out. After waiting nearly 3 hours, it finally spawned. The blm stuns him and the 2 made short work of the nm. I got a shiny new earring now!! 2/2 boy that is quite lucky, I feel bad for those who have killed it w/o a drop :( Keep at it, there isn't any competition for him on Siren it seems.

Anyone know if the Dec. 7 update affected this NM and the drop?
Hey all, just wondering if anyone could give me some directions to Mysticmaker's spawn - don't have a map ><. Thanks in advance ^^.
That BLM was me.. darn that cocktrice.. mysticmaker was a pain but we got him good. I should of just done freeze then 2 hour to burst and anthoer freeze. It was a good fight and esp when i finally hit it with my last spell (waterga of all things lol). I will try again and the earring will be mine next time. Congrats on the map velfire ; )
So I wanted the Labyrinth map, and recruited a 56 blm to help me get the key. We camped near Mysticmaker's room, and fought Cockatrices most of the time, hoping for maybe some skill up and cockatrice meat while we were there.
The blm was here hoping for the earring, figuring we could take him as a 56 blm and 60 bard. He turned up surprisingly quickly, we rested up, and took him on. Unfortunately, a cockatrice aggro'd us, so we were dealing with a cockatrice we were trying to keep asleep and a goblin with a penchant for casting Freeze.
I ate one freeze that took me to about 200, but survived to heal up and keep the fight going. By the time his next Freeze came around, I was a bit wiser and able to put blink up, which quite luckily saved me from Freeze.
We both ended up 2 houring, me doing double balldad for +6 mp/tick. The blm died at the same time as Mysticmaker, so I slept the cockatrice, sneak/invis'd, and zoned.
No earring, but the blm took Thundaga III as a souvenir from the fight, and we both got a few thousand gil out of it. All in all, a fun fight, especially for someone who doesn't do NM's like me.
Eventually, I did get my key (last cockatrice we were going to fight), the blm warped home, I found my map a few minutes later. Good times had by all.

ok ive claimed this guy 10 times now... just claimed him in a party with a thf friend and a Rdm i dont really know, im a level 60 Rdm i just needed the Thf with TH2 cause ive been gettin pretty pissed at not gettin the drop so we sit here about 20 min (knowing he was spawning soon cause we already set through one). so he pops and i get the claim again took us about 5 minutes to kill him no biggie at all considering i can solo him. well the first thing i see on my scrren flash by is a Moldavite Earring i get excited and wait for the other Rdm (who did nothing the whole time, and joined in about mid-fight) to lot , he lots 209, so i was pretty confident, then i lot a 35, i considered suicide for about 2 seconds then warped pissed to no end one word of advise fellow campers if you wanna do this do it right
bring a Thf and you and no one else that needs the earring at all, i am now 0/11 and going back in 2 hours to try my luck btw my profile is super outdated but anyways im 60 Rdm valefore server

Well, been camping it today... no luck so far :( out of 5 spawns Ive claimed twice, and both times it dropped crap. *sigh* And I still have to get this thing for 3 other friends O.o
Now about the spawn timer, I saw that after 2 hours passed from its death, the next gobbies that spawn, or the ones already there, are the last placeholders. Kill those and Mysticmaker should pop around 10-15 min later. I noticed this throughout the 10+ hours of camping it and thats the pattern I saw. Good luck guys!

first though, i got owned by the cockatrices while fighting it. i died, watch a jp party killed it and noted the death time. the jp party didnt get the earring. 2 hours later, i came back with some friends (rng thf bst). the same jp party is there clearing the room. so we all waited and it spawned. i saw "Mimmy starts casting dia on Mysticmaker Probflix". i thought too late, they got it. then i saw "Mysticmaker Probflix is too far away" in yellow, followed by RNG uses shadowbind on Mysticmaker Probflix, followed by BST tries to charm Mysticmaker Probflix. We got him ^^. and got the earring as well. Too bad for the JP pt though. They were there first and they cleared up the room. We were there for like 5 minutes and claimed him.

The best part of Final Fantasy XI is its rich storyline. It separates this game from other MMORPGs. I chose to give my character a storyline that goes along with the game's storyline. I find that this is a more fun way to play the game. Playing the game just to fight in the endgame and collect elite equipment is very boring and is totally missing the main objective of the game, which is to guide your character through the storyline which is to save the world.

....I woke up early for some reason and went to Onzozo. Around 9:15 he was claimed by someone else and I logged off and came back 1 hour and 45minutes later. He pops around 11:42 next time around, I claim with no competition, no drop. Come back 2 hours later and around...2 he popped and I claimed...once again no drop. Then at 4 I came back, he popped and I got the earring D;/////

Currently 3/3 for this earring, got one for a RDM in my linkshell, another one for a BLM, and one for myself XD Thank goodness for TH2

I killed this NM earlier today as a 63thf/nin and a 50blm/whm. The one other Blm camping him was apparantly not paying enough attention and I was able to claim him with my ultra slow lightning bow. I had blink up to start the fight, which allowed me to absorb the enfeebles he was throwing at me. The first nuke he tried to use was Freeze which was either interrupted by my attacks or by my Blms Stun. By this time I had used Dancing Edge twice and he had about 1/3 life left. My blm casted Freeze which almost killed him and I finished him off with a few last hits.
This would not have been possible without blink, I cased utsusemi about 3 times during the fight and the only damage I took was from the single Aeroga II he managed to cast. This was the second time I've killed him and he's dropped the Moldavite Earring both times. I need to go back and get one more for myself. From what I've read I've gotten very lucky so far... Wish me luck!

It took me wayyyy too long to get this drop. The first time we tried to camp this NM I was around level 61-62, and due to the time I play each day, it was highly camped, and we had a pretty hard time claiming him faster than other players. There goes at least 8 hours because of the 2+ hour spawn window. We wised up a little and tried camping him earlier on days that we could, and managed to actually claim him, more often than not. Long story short, I'm now level 70 and I JUST NOW got the drop after _10_ claims and kills, even with Thief's TH2 most of the time. My LS and I hate this NM with a passion. He's really not that difficult, just Stun his Ancients and keep everyone healed sufficiently -- but in my experience, his droprate SUCKS. Granted, I know people that got the earring on the first kill (even my RDM friend solo'd him and got it first kill), but apparently I have horrible luck. Droprate is supposed to be near 33%, but the math of my ratio was 10% ; ; I hope you all have better luck -- I will never camp this evil little gobbie again unless my static needs it lol ><

Dropped Mystie with a party of 64WHM, 60RDM, 47RDM. Worst thing he cast on us was Stonega II- didnt even bother with Manafont! Granted if he had used Manafont, it wouldnt have been such a cakewalk, but he's definitely doable with a less than damage oriented party. Pulling him seems to be the greatest challenge.
Unfortunately for the 47RDM, Mystie was only giving us Goblin Mask/Armor and ThundagaIII. Not even 10K in value total. So sad.

We just killed it, no drop >< We got Goblin Armor, Thundaga III, Goblin mask.
Just killed it for the second time, this time it dropped, Burst scroll, Goblin mask, Goblin armor, and uhhhhh o yeah Moldavite Earring. ^^
Abot this guy being a pushover he resist my silance as a lv 70 rdm. if you plan on soling this guy be carful and dont let your stonskin wore off. i took 0 dammage with it still lasing for a few more hits. but if it is abot to go off like once i took 500 dammage from tornao. i killed theis nm 8 times for my earing. once i was even trained when i first camped him. i pulled him succfuly then this guy was getting mobs tring to cast escape near me. i had him almost dead when an air elemetal killed me. Later i found out he got the earing by his serch commment [Moldavite earing] [Mine]. He was sorry when i came across the guy that trained me in garlagiage Citadel. What happed was i was tring get a Garlagiage Citadel key for that furance then i came across his lv 34 ninja. I got a HUGE train so big it cold of killed me had to use sleepga a few times. i ended up bring him Citadel bats wingrats a few fallen exvates a bomb just a ton of stuff. wich i could of seen how fast his party fell.

fought him with 62 blm (me), 62 rdm, and 54 thf... easy fight, went like clockwork... after the claim my rdm friend held aggro while I buffed up (blink, stoneskin, aquavail) then I started chain casting on the poor ****... being a mage type he liked keeping his distance I found... so without his melee attacks to take out blink I still had a shadow to absorb his first AM (freeze), and since I was holding the hate after casting the other two were free to go all out on him without having him turn... he tried to cast tornado at the end, but I had a fresh blink up and my final nuke killed him before he got it off anyways...
afterwards the gobs started respawning that were killed earlier and we had to take them out without rest... the last one I had to manafont to cure/nuke since rdm was playing tank and couldn't convert to get mp back... otherwise it went well, and I got my earring ^^

I solo'd him the other night but he did not drop the earing. Here is how I did it. I kept up phalynx, stoneskin, and blink as much as possible. Because this mob loves to cast ancient magic. I used enthunder, and haste. I used a yag drink to save mp and a meat mithcabob for strength. I had HP, and MP potions for when I started getting low, but I only had to use 1 HP potion before he was dead and then my health was still half way up. I might could have beat him without the potions, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I hope next time He will drop the earing. Oh yea, If you have spirits within, make sure your HP and TP bar's are full and then let loose on him, it will take somewhere around 450 HP out of him. I hope this helps^^

Fortunately it spawned when we were almost fully rested and had most of our buffs up -- we had been clearing the room. Nobody else was near it, easy claim, with paralyze. :)

When he had about 60 hp left he started to cast tornado, I countered with blink (barely!). Had I realized how much hp he had left I would have just kept whacking him.
Other than keeping paralyze and slow up, I really didn't do anything special. Added blaze spikes for extra damage, and used the aforementioned fish mithkabob. I didn't bother with trying to silence him or use bar-element spells.
A well equipped level 57 elvaan red mage should have no trouble soloing him, barring any nasty links.
He also has about 4600 HP, according to my log parser. He dropped 4k gil for both of us, and the thief mugged him for 1.3k. He dropped: Moldavite Earring, Thunder III, a goblin mask, and goblin armor. (and he was nice enough to give me 14 exp.)

just killed this guy, no drop though. me and my friend were very very sleepy, we were camping NM all day. Well there were 5 people camping it and somehow i managed to stun it and make the kill ^^
im a lvl 63 taru blm and she is a lvl 59 taru blm.
it was a close fight, but bind kept us alive. i casted bind paralyze, etc and just nuked the hell outta him. I had to use manafront though atthe end when he had about 1/5 hp left. i belive he casted firaga ii which messed us up bringing me to 200 hp and her to 90 hp or so. a quick curaga II fixed that though..

Do mobs get spells before their job would be able to? This guy has Stonega III which puts him at level 63 at least according to regular blm standards. This would also put him in the lvl range of the area instead of significantly below it.
