6 months, 27 pops, and about 7 claims, and I finally get this earring.

Had to call in LS mates for about 4 days of camping, but hey, finally got it. The idea that this is hell-and-a-handbasket to get, is absolutely correct. And I got lucky, at least I wasn't 0/20 like a friendly RDM out there!

Be prepared to devote a LOT of time, patience, and frustration on this thing.

The idea that killing goblins speeds up spawn times is absolutely true. If you are after this thing, especially if you have people with you, clear them out. At least then you spend less time waiting for this stupid goblin.

Just got my Earring tonight. (56blm) Only took 2 claims to get it. ^^ However, is supposed to be a 2h 15m spawn.... and it took 2h45m to pop when we got there. Me and my thf friend were like... "Wtf? Mysticmaker is broken!"

Wow i hear these horor storys about this but i need this earing for my rdm im gunna go take my 75 mnk if a blm/whm can take it at 68ish i should be able to do it no problem

I just got my moldavite earring tonight, and am literally running back and forth through my apartment, I'm so excited. I've camped this guy off and on for 4 months now, and before tonight, had managed to get the claim a grand total of 1 time, at which point Mystic proceeded to AM my level 61 WAR friend while we were both asleep, leaving him wide open for another person to steal the mob. That had been my best luck so far, along with many, many exciting times watching his name turn purple right as I ran up to fight him.

So, after finally getting my BLM to 68, I decided that I'd spend the day getting his spawn times, and possibly fighting him if luck was on my side. Twice I lost the claim, but got him the 3rd time, and was surprised at how easy the battle really was. After reading horror stories, I assumed I'd get my goblin mask and be on my way, but lo and behold, I see that the earring dropped. Better than Christmas!

So, in order to make this post actually have a point, I'd like to give tips on how to solo Mystic as a BLM, because honestly, I wasn't even sure how high I needed to be before attempting this (I assumed he'd kill me). The mobs in the room stop aggroing around 66 or 67, so that is the earliest you should come to fight for your Moldy earring. I recommend waiting until 68, as you can get your Black Cloak for auto-refresh, which helps out a bunch. Stand near the 3 stones that are right in the middle of the room - every time he has popped for me, it's been southish or southeastish of those stones, like if you were looking towards the south tunnel. His spawn rate did seem to be between 2 hours and 2:15 for me every time. Once you see him pop, target him and spam your stun macro. If you know what his timer is, you should already have cast protect II on yourself (subbing whm, of course), as well as shell. Once it gets close to popping time, casting Stoneskin is a plus also. As soon as I got the claim, I used a poison potion, in case he tried the old "Sleep ---> AM combo". He did use sleep on me, and it didn't wear, which makes me think that the auto-regen from subbing whm might have cancelled the poison. Anyone know if this is the case? Regardless, I think Barsleepra might be a good thing to cast. I then also used a fish mithkabob, for added def from both Mystic and any adds (which I did get, later in the fight). Mystic hit me for around 15 hp a shot, and I'm a taru, so that's pretty weak. I kept stoneskin up as much as possible, and used my highest level spells (Blizzard III and Thunder III) to weaken him. I also used Drain every chance I got, and Aspir is a must for this battle as well. Mystic used a lot of high level magic spells, but nothing I couldn't handle with Drain, Stoneskin, and the occasional Cure III. His Manafont wasn't that bad either, was able to handle it pretty well and keep going. At the very end of the fight, I ran out of MP, and also got a gob add shooting me for around 25 hp per shot. I used manafont, Blizzard III, Thunder III, Drain, then dead.

So, I'm hoping that this helps out a bit for any BLMs like me who've been drooling over this earring for a long time, but don't have any level 75 thfs who will camp it with you for 8 hours a day. :) Remember, most importantly, don't freak out, and just keep casting those spells and keeping your HP up!

Yesterday I tried soloing this NM for this to get it for my blm. I went as 70whm/nin. I get there it pops beat a 63blm named Lycos he had a rdm and drg with him. So im fighting near the end the NM's HP only needed 5-6 more hits and it would die and all it needed to do was cast one spell on me. I /say Help me out! Cure Please, it starts casting Firaga at this time it's HP is 1-2 more hits and it dies. . so Lycos and the other 2 dont cure me like jackasses i die Lycos, the blm, casts fire on it, it dies, i d-lvl from 70 -> 69. -.- really pissed me off

Camped him for a friend with a few members of LS, we must have just missed him as we sat there for a long time, anyway he popped and one of the drgs in pt tried to jump him too fast and got the error message and i got claim with voke, he was dead in <15sec and we got the drop :D

well, i'm a 60 blm on caitsith server and i have been trying to get this earring for ever, i am 0/15 on drop and 15/83 on claim.....as crappy as my luck is i think i'll be there for another 5 monthes v.v

Heya, I got 69 Blm tonight in the Bay, decided to hunt Mystic for my earring. Walked in, waited 2 hours and someone came up and helped me as I fought. Then we camped Lord of Onzozo >< but it was a big party so every two hours one would run off with me and claim Mystic (or try to). I killed it 3 times out or 4 possible times (yes.. 8 hours camping mystic and LoO)

Finally LoO popped we missed claim, but the first group wiped fast.. I think they were missing people. We claimed, and got a lovely... shall shell >< no Kraken club. (No you can't have the ToD, sorry .. 8 hours waiting... blah. no, sorry.)

After that mention it was 30 minutes to another spawn of Mystic. Waited 40, got it, after everyone else in the room left about .. 15 minutes before it popped. Finally dropped its earring. I'd say 10 total kills I've had on it, and one earring.

Also, I was going to mention, at times Mystic is tame, even when he manafonts.. I don't know what triggers it, but sometimes, it only seems to cast AM and blaze spikes.. the rest of the time, it casts weak Thunder 2 and such spells.. Anyone have any ideas on what sets off its AM spamming?

It just seems sometimes it was an easy fight and others.. a well placed Tornado did me in.


Also.. Silencing.. It's been hinted he can't be. I've succeeded at times without BLM AF body on, and failed other times repeatedly with it on. I was with a 75 RDM tonight, who didn't get silence to stick on the last Mystic we killed (the one that dropped) but it is silenceable. I have seen it 'Resist' Stun though.. >< painful when that happens.

Mostly, get some help. If you want this as a BLM 47.. you'll either need alot of help or another high level job to solo it. The gobs in the area didn't stop aggroing me till about 65 or 66.
