I went THF75/NIN75 Very Easy fight. but VERY LONG. took me 20 mins to kill this thing. It has a ton of Defense but horrible Acc. I noticed after about 50% he starts to gain a little more Acc and starts eatting my shadows quicker. Other than that the lenght of the fight was the only bad thing about it.

And I also killed both beetles at the end of the hallway and the room to spawn him.

I spoke to the Rabao weather checker and found out Altepa was going to have possibility for double earth weather for the next 3 game days, so I figured, why not take another crack at those infamous "need double earth weather to spawn" NMs in Quicksand Caves. Grabbed my 75RDM/NIN and headed down there to start killing.

Nussknacker was first to appear, whupped his *** easily and got the Sand Gloves, 1/1 :D

Weather stopped after that, but I kept killing beetles, and the weather eventually reappeared with 2 minutes left to a respawn, and Diamond Daig appeared after that. Took longer to whup his *** but it was surely whupped, got the Protecting Bangles, 1/1 :D

As a confirmation of what KC said, I can affirm that the proper PH is NOT the one that pops at the end of the hallway, it's the one that spawns in the 6 side rooms (it can switch around these rooms when respawning). Note that the NM itself will pop out in the hallway and not in the rooms.

Whacked both those NMs in about 2.5 hours of camping. No competition. I'd say it was a good night. :o
Fun fight...

I fought this bugger solo as a PLD/RDM. The fight actually took a bit longer than I would have hoped, but the reason is because I used a Martial Wand for efficient Starlight MP-recovery (my club is capped and merited, giving me about 90 MP back on each WS.)

Kept up Blink, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Aquaveil, Enthunder, Barstone, Blaze Spikes, and Protect as best I could (with the aid of Flash), while keeping Dia II and Gravity on him, and Dispelling him whenever he used a TP buff. As posted below, he has terrible accuracy, and very high physical defense and hit points. Hence, the damage from the DoT spells and the En-spells (along with the Blaze Spikes) did most of the work.

Fight took about 40 minutes, and overall, was a lot of fun. ^^ I did indeed get the Bangles.

I've camped this on and off for about 18 months, just one of those NM's that stay pretty far down on my list unless I'm really bored, well tonight I was really bored.

FINALLY popped him tonight. Killed stuff on and off for 8 hours and never saw a double-earth (even popped Tungi NM twice out of boredom). Finally get my double-earth and I rush over here, just kill the one in the hallway. No pop, still weather. Kill the hallway again, decide to kill the one in the room too (just in case....even though this thread says it's the corridor)

The one at the end of the hallway pops right at his home (still 2x weather), I work on killing him but doubtful it'll stay 2x earth for another pop, it had been 45 minutes. Well the second I kill him (16m from my kill on the second) Diamond pops. Just to clarify he popped out in the hallway, not in the room where his PH was.

This might just mean that either beetle can be a PH, but in all the time I've camped this over the last year (60+ hours easily), I've killed only the hallway pop and it's never popped.

Got drop, 16 minute kill (beetle popped in the hallway as he died haha) as RDM/NIN. Bio2/Poison2 did most of the damage. Melee with Blau/Esword/Joy (traded Blau in for Energy Drain) did about 10+19 each, shining blade is your best WS as at 100TP mine was doing about 200-240 with esword. Didn't convert, I was never in danger as he's kinda blind.

I sure hope this is 100% drop, I honestly think this is probably one of the rarest items on the server. I have never ever seen another player camping this, ever.

I more accidently ported to Altepa to pass by and saw double earth, so i decided to pay old friends a visit (my nemesis Nußknacker). To avoid certain boredom i alternated killing PH for Diamond and Nußknacker. And I found and killed Nußknacker once again as rdm/nin. . .even tho i didn't bother casting utsusemi even once. Of course no drop. . .once again.

So on my way back I find Diamond n the middle of the hall as replace for the Beetle in the room and start whacking at him w/ roughly 150MP.

I only used para/blind/dia II, slow didn't feel like sticking so i gave up on it nor did i bother with Bio (for the sake of dia) or poison. I did 3-5dmg (5-9 with dia II in effect) with my hasted Hornetneedle with 18-19dmg added Enblizzard (Hornetneedle does 16-20dmg on Lumber Jack. . .). He seemingly has 10.oooHP as the majority of higher NM's. To speed things up i would toss in a Thunder III (550dmg) when i had the MP to spare. Only used Utsu once around 80% to cover up for my convert (mind i started dry on MP) even tho it was obviously not necessary.

His acc is lousy, his STR isn't frightening nor his attack speed. He has no resistence to para or blind either, making it an easy fight. Also he uses the normal beetle TP moves (knockback attack, dmg attack, STR down, eva down) and no magical abilities of any kind. Only problem is his obvious DEF/VIT. . .

I got 25XP as RDM75 and 12oogil. . .and the Protecting Bangles. They are incredible. . .too bad classes like war, nin and especially pld ,that would have some kind of real use for def, can't even equip it. . .
oh boy. :D

A friend and I were ******* around in quicksand caves during double earth weather. We killed off this guy's placeholders, then continued on to slay Nussknacker's placeholders. when we came back, this guy was up. I figured he would be about as difficult as Nussknacker (soloable as 72 MNK/WAR with Hundred Fists so long as it is NOT earthday), but man was I wrong..

I was 72 MNK/THF and my friend was 71 MNK/WHM. We immediately could tell that this wasn't going to be winnable. Punches that would do 80-100 damage on antica were doing 15-30 on this guy, and his attacks always did damn well near 100 damage a hit.

Luckily, there was a JP 75 RDM just behind us. He joined up just to help out, but even with him the fight took us about twelve minutes. He let me have the bangles and asked for nothing in return. Thank you, Yoshisan of sylph!
Fun

Beat Diamond Daig as 75 Rdm/Thf, got drop, was very easy, but long fight. It has insane amount of defense and health. Its attacks are pretty weak. The bangles kinda suck, but they have best def for hand armor.
Complete pushover.

This thing was a joke. I just killed this thing with a 75 Brd as 62 Thf.

Yes, 62 Thf. 204 Evasion, not capped.

Anyways, the fight took around 25-30 minutes. I had the Brd use double Mambo at all times. She couldn't land Elegy even with Threnodies, but hilariously, I could land Kurayami 3 out of 5 casts. Diamond has the WORST accuracy of any NM I've ever seen. Whiff whiff whiff, it was only when he managed to take out my shadows with a lucky double attack and TP move (He apparenly has around an 80-85% double attack rate, I'm not ******** you) that I was damaged, upon when I just casted Utsusemi through his double attacking whiffs.

The only problem was the fact he does NOT take damage well. Dia II, Def down bolts, you name it, I couldn't get more than 10 damage on him with my mainhand Cermet Kukri +1. DE did anywhere from 80-150, SA DE 180-250. Gust Slash an unimpressive 100-150.

Really, with shadows and decent Eva, this guy won't give you much trouble. My Brd friend now wears her Bangles happily.

Good hunting.

I solo'd him yesterday as 75mnk/nin was a very long fight but luckly i didnt ***** up shadow casting.
In order for him to pop it must be Double Earth weather conditions and also you must kill the beetle in the corridor he is placeholder.
Died.

Camped for about an hour, killing placeholder beetles (16 min. repop). Diamond Daig popped at the end of the hour and I engaged as 75mnk/nin.

Started fight with Hundred Fists and 3 Asuran's, bringing it down to about 90% hp >_>;

I was only hitting for 17-30 per hit with avg. 280 asurans. He also had a gigassload of HP. Close fight, but I screwed up on utsusemi casting when he was at about 5%, and I ate dirt after 2 rounds of double attack criticals. Close fight, and looking forward to a rematch =)

Activated Focus/Dodge/Chakra 3 times during the fight, and was almost ready for another round, so fight took about 15-20 minutes before I lost.

Enter Quicksand Caves from Altepa Western Desert at J-9; go to the next map at D-11; found at H-8 on that map.

There are 2 beetles in this whole area, I spent about 3 to 4 hours killing all the mobs in this zone, including the 2 beetles.

I looked at about 10 different web sites, and even saw a picture of it being fought right at this position, but I haven't personaly gotten it to spawn.
Where?
