0/5 on this thing. Been camping him off and on for like three years (not very hard obviously). My RNG really needs that obow now that I sold my ebow and coney is just as unlucky 0/3.

So, I have read contradicting information as to what is the placeholder. Wiki says it is the Mercenary, Alla says it's the Shepard.
Tonight I killed only the Mercenary's because there was a soloer there killing pets. As a person that has done this soloing act with a number of jobs, I understand, so I left the shepards alone.
After killing two mercenarys, Wyvernpoacher spawned. All other mobs, shepards and alchemist were up. The correct PH for this NM is in fact one of the mercenarys. Wiki reports that on Wide Scan, it is the top gob, which is a merc. As I went as Rdm/Nin to solo it, I cannot confirm this information.
But just so everyone knows, you don't have to kill the Shepards, so let the poor soloers be.

Don't expect this thing to pop quickly. I may have gotten lucky tonight, but last night I went 7 hours before I gave up. On a bright note, I was fortunate enough to go 1/1 on the drop.

Some notes about the fight as rdm/nin soloing:
The NM is highly susceptible to bind and grav. You can cast on the NM outside of his ranged attack range. Poison resisted for me. Only cast once, but decided to not waste any further MP trying to land it. The NM is not guaranteed to use EES! He never used it against me. Keep your shadows up and this fight really is rather easy. One last thing, casting a damaging spell is not guaranteed to break bind. I had it hold through both Bio and Thunder a number of times. Should take about 2-3 full MP pools, so plan accordingly.

But yeah, the PH is the Goblin Mercenary, not the Shepards.

Was skilling up/camping this for a friend of mine awhile ago... I was MNK/NIN him THF/NIN.. after about a hr or so NM poped.. we healed to full and engaged.. easy fight.. not sure where all these horror stories are coming from.. maybe we just got lucky though.. EES missed me and I didn't have utsu up! No eva set up or anything.

yeah, so today i went there again with my nin buddy and no competition. we fought placeholders for like an hour and then he said "nm up", so we killed it and i finally got my freakin o-bow! 1/2 not bad ;) gl to you guys!

im now 0/4 on it

My first time camping this guy, he went 12 hours without popping. It was so disheartening. I spent a full Saturday, from noon until after midnight on him, and only got 1 kill for all that time. Of course, I didn't get the drop.

I finally got the drop on kill 6, so I'm 1/6 on this guy now. I hope I never see another goblin.

The nice thing about this guy is that its fairly easy to get help with him. A lot of people come down here to get WHM testimonies.

Also, as a side note, I don't know if this was mentioned before, but Goblin Shepards are his placeholders.

The crossbow is absolutely worth it though :)

Yesterday I camped with rdm75 nin70 rng69 for 3 hours then it poped. Killd it no drop :3.

Then today i camped for like 6 hours -_-" we really got damn board... killed it we got drop :). It killed our nin75 fren with eagle eye though >_> 1170dmg.

so am 1/2 on it!
and its random pop around 3-7 hours.

Double post, ack...Yes, so 1/1. Even for a 75THF, he was much harder than expected. I think I would have died or had to warp if I didn't get help from the exp party there. He actually doesn't have a ton of HP or defense, but he has a ton of accuracy and he hits and uses WS's like a bitch, not to mention EES. I didn't know I couldn't sleep bolt this thing, for one. Couldn't do that to Aquarius either, which made him hard as well. But I claimed him without shadows up and with my darts still on so I had to pdodge early. With his accuracy, atk speed, and goblin rushes, very difficult fight...Really shoulda had some more evasion gear on me.

Notorious for commiting such fiendish acts against wyverns as Bomb Toss, Frag Bomb, and Frypan.

partied there 3 hours and it popped ^^ there was a ranger there at first but he left and this baby popped like 20 min later lol.. well my party of 58-60 took it out.. NINx2(Ephdel & Sleepynite)RNG(me)BLM(Fularis)WHM(Ancient) and RDM(Syoku). the whm died because he got aggro when curing. other than that it was pretty easy. 1/1 on this bastard! merry xmas to me! :D

pt in tunnel yesterday i was a 57rng at that time it popped, warped back to jeuno got my 75nin out i pretty much solo'd. it was down to about 1/4 then thf friend said he'll come for TH2, he got there just in time to get a SA off and killed it, got bow^^

Finally, after some odd months I no longer have to camp this bastard, not for myself anyways hehe. Obtained this bow this past Friday early afternoon. LS finished their PM run and headed down to Gustav Tunnel to camp WPD and to grab a few testies for other LS members. I was tele'd to Holla, grabbed my chocobo and went on my way to Gustav as well (LS was already in Gustav at the time). Once I zoned into the Dunes I see in party chat "X hurry up, WPD is up and another pt is trying to claim him" at this time I wished my chocobo could use flee and/or powdered boots lmao. Anyways, my LS grabbed claim first thank God lol. I don't know if they had links or what, but it didn't sound like things were going to smooth, kept hearing sleep him. LS told me to hurry again cause WPD was almost dead, but I finally made it to Gustav's zone by the time they said that. Zoned in, seen a few people hurt, and our tank had got taken out (/cry) (/comfort) Andreas (or so I was told). Once my LS noticed I had zoned in they took WPD out and BAM! The bow and a few other goodies drop but my only interest was the bow of course hehe. I just want to say thanks to everyone who helped camp, claim, and pwn this greedy bastard, I <3 you all and in debt to all of you lol. For those Rangers who have yet to camp WPD for this bow, I wish ya'll the best of luck and hope that ya'll don't have to wait months to get this bow like I have. Well, S-bow here I come >.>

I finally hit 67 and after reading all the bad luck people had I doubted I'd see this for a while!
So first time camping, I brought my 75thf friend who assured me it would be no problem.
2 minutes later a shepard aggroed me, and at the same time he popped! Other party 8 ppl claimed so I sort of gave up at that point, turns out there tank was a drk o.O; 5minutes later and there dead, thf pulls, kills xbow drops! all together camped for 10min!
By the way this weapon is as good as people say, it so far has outdamged my Selene's in exp per shot!

Once i got inside Gustav Tunnel my party was already at camp waiting. As im asking for camp position, everyone was debating about Drachlox if we could kill it. I get there and voke it then we zone with 148 HP, everyone else was fine.
I started at 2004 xp, THF left when i had 9000 xp then DRK replaced him. Once i had hit 58 our party was 58-59, we kill 2 mobs then Drachlox pops again.
Straight away we decided to either Kill him in order to get to other mobs or just give up.
With 2hrs on stand by and tatics gone over i pull.
NIN stood back so Drachlox only used bow DRK and I gave him all we had, while mages nuked and heal like no tomorrow.
Got it 1/3 HP unleashed 2hrs then NIN and i kite it till it was dead with Mages healing. Everyones HP was in yellow no deaths ^^
Got 216 xp 1000 gil and EVERYTHING he can drop.
NIN needed bow for their 70+ RNG so it couldnt have worked out better in the end.

I was camping for 2 hours before today's update... no pop. I need this bow already! Does anyone know a solid pop time, or if it's a lottery NM? Please help.

Claimed him the other day but just had me and a THF72 to kill it, got it to 40 percent and bomb drop killed me, THF had 72 hp so he ran up the tunnel to the RDM we had otw who had zoned in, got healed but lost claim and 3 level 75 JPs killed it in nothing flat. Didn't drop the first time for me and didn't get the kill the second time, didn't even get a raise from their healer, just a lot of taunts. Irksome. I can understand claiming him after he comes unclaimed (even though it looked like none of them could have used it) but at least raise the people that have died, that's just courtesy. It's not like I made fun of them or insulted their mothers or anything.
Bleh.

At this time I am currently 0/7 on the bow.. on my server, all the crappy, gimped rangers get this bow first time, while others like myself, who put lots of time getting good gear like Dusk Trousers and Hellfire +1 get nothing.

Just took him down last night.

Was in tunnel in xp pt, party consisted of pld, war/nin, rng, rdm, whm and me drk/thf( all 56-58). Wyvernpoacher popped and we rested to full as to prepare for the fight.
Rng pulled and pld quickly grabbed hate. Everyone kept away from it, except fot pld who was tanking, firing magic or ranged into it. Got it roughly to 3/4 hp when rng EES for major dd. Unable to keep hate it quickly killed the rng. The melee ensued for a good 10-15 mins with everyone dying except the war/nin and myself (drk/thf). Luckily a 56 whm was there and started healing us and unfortunately for the whm, he got hate from spamming cure VI's and died. I killed it with SA vorpal scythe and the 2 of us lived, we were both 58. No drop. It was a very rough fight espicially since it was just 2 of us but we are proof that he can be beaten by mid to high 50 lvl pt(with major casualties).

you must be the most unfortunate person i know im 4/4 on the bow for my linkshell members.

i duo'ed him today with a war/nin and me as a thf/nin and we did one skill chain light for almost 2800 damage and he was pretty much dead.

if anyone on fairy needs help to kill this nm just send me a message and i will come help you kill.

maybe i can make it 5/5 :P

i havent given it a shot yet, but i know its worth it
