Zipacna's Spawn Location

  • Wanders constantly between the outermost co-ordinates of its spawn area, periodically even going into the basement level of the Palace.

    • If the Cermet Gate in the center of its path is closed, it will stop up to (H-3) then return towards either (E-3) or (K-3), depending on which side of the gate is closed.

  • Crystal Rain: AoE magic damage.

  • Crystal Weapon: Single target ranged magic damage. Damage type will be of a random elemental type.

    • Zipacna has a tendency to use these two tp abilities moreso than the following.

  • Crystal Shield: Self target Defense Boost. (Effect can be dispelled).

  • Heavy Strike: Single target physical damage.

  • Ice Break: AoE Ice based magic damage with an additional Bind effect.

  • Thunder Break: AoE Thunder based magic damage with an additional Stun effect.

Historical Information

In Mayan mythology, Zipacna was a demon of tremendous strength said to be the creator of mountains. Like other members of his family, he was extremely violent, and would take any chance to boast his strength on others. One such example involved Zipacna's encounter with the deities of alcohol, the Four Hundred Boys, who were unable to move a log they had cut for a hut they were building. As Zipacna offered and later moved the log on his own, the Four Hundred Boys came to the conclusion that no single creature of such strength should be allowed to live, and decided to kill him.

They first tried to kill him by having him dig a hole for the post they had cut, and then shoving the post down into the hole while he was in it. Wise to their attempt to kill him, Zipacna dug a tunnel to one side of the post hole and hid in it while allowing the Boys to believe they had succeeded by crying out in agony. Then, after waiting till they had finished the hut and began celebrating their two accomplishments, Zipacna emerged from the hole and collapsed the support log down upon the Four Hundred Boys, killing them all.

Seeking vengeance, the divine Hero Twins devised a plan to lure Zipacna into a canyon with a fake crab, as crabs were the demon's favorite food. The plan was a success, as the weary and hungry Zipacna was oblivious to the Twins plan until it was too late, as they collapsed a large mountain on top of him while in the canyon, slaying him.

Annoying

Well Old Zippy aint too bad. Need to kill the defender in the way first. Anyhoo he spawns in one of two zones in Ve'Lugannon and can apparently walk between the places you cant -_-;; correct me on that if i am wrong. Anyhoo he likes to use AOE Stun and Bind (Ice Breaker and Lightning Breaker) and will not use the average Golem attacks like "Crystal Rain" and "Crystal weapon" also he wont use "Crystal shield" he goes down fast but hits HARD! PLD tank is NOT recomended but it can be done with too much curing. Blink Tank prefered.

You should not believe what Zetsumei says. He has already admitted to pulling the "Apocalypse" relic weapon hoax, so his credibility is a little shot.

What? He uses crystal rain in fact he spams it which removes all shadows. Makes it hard for any ninja tank under lvl 75 to tank it because he can remove all your shadows after you just recasted utsusemi. He also hits hard so this guy can be a toughy. I found easier to tank with less melee because he seemed to spam crystal rain a lot less.

This mob was updated in the patch about 1-2 months ago...he now hits like a monk...almost like hundred fists now...he's not "easy" anymore.

And yes...DRG CAN wear Dusk gear and Harness.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 01 2004 at 5:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Interesting, you say you have Scorpion Harness +1 and Dusk Ledelsens, yet you can't wear those as a DRG. Also, I can't imagine why you would just have them to use on your next highest job since your next highest job is 39.

This nm is a big no no without a bard to sing + acc for a melee, our bard disconnected for 5mins and not 1 melee touched him, he dodged everything me and the war both have around 5-6million in gear and not 1 of us touched him until the bard came back to +acc us.

He's easy overall but he constantly walks around Ve'Lugannon Palace he never ever stops moving usually spotted at the I-5 entrance @ ru'ann gardens. Always wanna bring a rng to scan for him. He drops Gem of the north that is used to pop Genbu.
