I've been camping this thing now for 4 days. Total of 78 stacks of cabbage traded. He has popped a total of ONCE! quite annoying, dunno if this works like mining? The longer in zone the less chance of getting something good (the NM in this case) I have DC'd once and zoned once in 4 days. Going to continue trying but zone out every 12-20stacks I guess. Kept having to ask people to bring me more cabbage. lol

EDITS:

Day #5 Went 1/24 in 6/7 hours. Zoned out numerous times and it popped on the 12th stack of cabbage.

Day #6 Went 2/11. Better! Spawned 4 hours apart in a 6 hour camp. Mostly AFK throughout but no one else was there.

Day #7 Went 4/10. Spawned about an hour apart each time in again a 6hour camp. Seems the less diligent I am about trading every 15min the better the results thus far.

Day #8 Went 1/17 Spawned about 5hours into 6 hour camp.

Day #9 1/17 over 6hours

Day #10 2/22 over 8 hours

IM DONE! 33 Twincoons later its crafting time! 12/179 trades = 7.24% 61hours
AVG 2.75 Twincoons per w/TH3

I was just wondering what the ratio is for spawned Rumble Crawlers vs. the actual NM? After attempted farming for over 3 hours and seeing about 10 Rumbles spawn and no NMs...what is the general spawn frequency of this NM? :3

While I'm camping this I decided to give some info on it.
To get there, just act like you're headed to the den of rancor entrance.
The ??? is right before the gate you have to open(the wooden gate)
Right when you enter the ??? is in the vine up ahead.
Habetrot is very random when it comes to getting the pop.
Mostly 6-12 is what I hear.
One **** is assured, but I'venever heard of getting 4, but I suppose it's possible.
WARNING: RMT camped(On some severs.)
Kinda sucks.
We wouldn't have gilsellers if there weren't buyers... 60% the sellers 40% the buyers fault though.
Hard fight?

I'm a lvl 58 WHM and I want to get the twincoons so I can make the opaline stuff. Is is possible for me to solo this thing or should I bring another person or two?

Also I saw on FFXI-Atlas.com that it's near an entrance to the second jungle, but I can't seem to get to it. Do you have to run through the temple to get there or is there a way to get to that entrance in the second jungle?

This nm is no hard crawler Me a 72 monk at the time and a 70 samurai spawned him we killed him near instantly. we both had TP then we Tachi: Gekko > Asuran Fists and that did about 3.5k dmg and he was a few hits from death. well needless to say its easy to get the ??? and feed it its not so easy to spawn his ugly butt. 1/12 spawns was him we quit after him not spawning after like 8 feeds.
I Can Solo Habetrot
# Jan 26 2006 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
I can solo this NM as a 66SMN/WHM rather easily with Fenrir. It usually takes 2 or 3 eclipse bites. I usually cast blink/stoneskin on myself during battle, because he usually kills Fenrir at 1/3 health. I just resummon Fenrir, while my shadows absorb Habe's attacks and finish him off. Most twincoon's I have gotten is two. He isnt real hard since I am kiting him with an avatar. In between I will usually farm tonberry coats from nearby Tonberry's. Its pretty funny seeing carby get pwned by Everyone's Grudge 10 seconds into a fight... good thing its not doing that to me. might be time to clear Tonberry hate

Get to camp, see that 2 ppl (a hume couple) are camping. Wait our turn, a few pops. They port out. We set up our little msg saying how many stacks blah blah. 3 seperate ppl come up @14 min and steal our pops. Saying nothing, and spamming /check the whole time on us. Just like everything in Hell (on Hades) it's "***** you, what rules?" If you want this on hades GL to you, be prepared for the miner's syndrome, if you get it uncamped it won't be for long. 4-5 hours might yeild you one NM. What a waste of time. Time to save for 3 months to spend 13m on 53-60 clothcraft. And no, I'm not an idiot that can't do math, silk cloth is really 380-400k on our server. <endrant>

yea so im a lvl 70 thf on alexander and i was headed to den of rancor to steal my test when i saw the thf just staring into a wall i thought it was kinda funyn and walked over when this green crawler pops and links the other two, well im like o ****, so i grab the other two crawlers so she can fight this one w/o these guys eatin up her shadows. after i killed them, i see shes losing badly, shes got almost no HP and hes about 1/2 full. so i tell her to invite me, i got a sneak attack dancing edge for him but she doesnt in time and dies, it comes for me and she tells me she has a rdm otw. im alil scared so i throw on all my evasion gear and use DE for alil over 500 dmg. which means hes DC-EM to me, prolly lvl 74 or 75. he had bad acc, i didnt take any dmg during the fight and i killed him b4 rdm got there, the twincoon dropped and i gave it to the thf since today is christmas ^^ lol i had no idea what it was for and she didnt seem to want to tell me, anyone have an idea?

I love this damn NM. In the past few months I've made 1m+ easy off of it. Usually I know a friend who is camping the THF knife NM, and just invite them into party to use them as a TH2 *****. I'll bring about 8 or so stacks, put it in my search comment so nobody else camps on top of me (usually, and I've seen JP bring up to like 30 stacks,) and pop then go afk.

Highest number of twins I've gotten so far is 3, which is really nice. I've also seen this thing pop back to back so its also pretty random. Awesome NM, if you know about this NM (a lot of people don't,) keep it to yourself and just camp away. Also, like said before, THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE A MACRO TO TRADE A STACK! Its really all about speed if your trying to compete against someone. Bring out your trading curser and just keep panning back and forth. I'll most def camp this thing a lot in the future.

I camped this guy for the first time today. When I arrived there were some japanese camping this. Lucky for me i got the ??? first and spawned the NM. As I was killing it..this JP threatend to GM call me.

I'm just curious what did I do????? Is there some kind of unwritten rule? Afterwards the JP that GM called me left and a THF came and started spamming /checks on me. O.o

Are they just being asses or what?

Yes, there is actually a "unwritten rule" when it comes to Habetrot. I'm not sure if this applies to any other forced pop NMs.

Before you decide to go camp him, do a quick search of the area. If you see anyone with a comment like:

La Theine Cabbage @ 10D
or
Habetrot @10

simply wait for them to finish. (sometimes people will as me to put them in my search comment as the next camper)

I started camping Habetrot 4 or 5 months ago, and almost everyone followed this "rule." But recently, more people seem to just ignore your search comment completely and will simply camp on top of you.
RE: Crazy people..

yes there is an "Unwritten law" if some1 is killing a force pop NM you dont come & steal the spot from them, thats rude imo and you were in the wrong

I have soloed this nm twice today easily using kinkobo and very close to max staff skill (260 or so). Got 2 twincoons both times and no other drops. Approx 3k gil each kill with thf subjob.

His normal attack can slow you and his slow is VERY VERY VERY MEAN.

Overall he is not a very difficult nm for me at 73pld/30thf took 5 spirit takers (about 250 each time) both times to kill but was never in much danger

1628 Mug, 5512 gil, Twincoon x2. 14 exp to 75thf/37nin. Took 6 Stacks of cabbage, and the ??? pops approximately every 15mins, his slow and poison never stuck on me, but he can hit often, if no utsusemi.
WHM solo
# Mar 14 2005 at 7:50 PM Rating: Good
Soloed as an Elvaan 75 WHM/37 BLM. I was using Genbu's Shield and Noble's Tunic, both of which seemed fairly essential for the win. Ended the fight with about 170 MP left.
Some notes: Habetrot has been resprited, so he looks more like a putrescent green crawler now, and he has an added effect: Slow. This Slow is like the spiders's Slow, it overwrites Haste, so you'll need Erase to get rid of it, if you're going to tank him with Stoneskin, keep that in mind... the Slow is really nasty, too, about 25%, so it's a big deal. He seemed to have low accuracy, but a high resistance to Flash, for some reason. The fight took me about 10 minutes, used Divine Seal and was a bit worried I might need Benediction, but by the latter parts of the fight, I had my timing down. Mages, keep him slowed and paralyzed, and you may want to bring a more solo-oriented subjob (such as NIN or WAR). Gave 14 exp when he died, placing him around level 59 or 60. His Poison Breath is pretty nasty, it can one-shot capped Stoneskin, so be prepared. He dropped two twincoons for me, 150k each on Fairy.

Second kill: went much easier this time, had about 370 MP at the end of the fight, even got linked near the end of the fight, and he seemed to be hitting a lot lighter for some reason. Another 14 exp, and only one twincoon (so two is not guaranteed). The fight took me 9 minutes by the in-game clock, and it was a 2% moon, which may be the reason for only one twincoon. Screenshot also to be submitted.
Third kill: 450 MP at the end, 0 exp at 75 (so he was level 57 or less), 5428 gil and 3 twincoons with a 2% moon. I had /25 THF this time.

I write this message as I watch people kill Habetrot. People will run up to it /anon but judging by their gear they are upper sixties-seventies

i have no idea how the pop works but i think it is random rumble or NM because i been watching people fight it all day

In my experience with Habetrot (2/2), two cocoons seem to be a guaranteed drop. Also seems to pop roughly once every four hours.
Watch out for other players while camping, many will randomly toss cabbage at the ??? while running by if it's up, just for kicks and a shot at some cash. Be especially wary of JPs, due to their lower pingtimes, they almost ALWAYS win the trade if you're camping against them x.x

Anyone have a rough estimate of the level of this nm. I was planning on trying to camp it with lvl 60, and a few other lvl 60's. Is it worth even trying or will it just mop the floor with us?

If it's any indication, I took it down once with a 61 PLD, 65 SAM, and 61 DRG, then another time with a 61 PLD and 71 WHM.
Barpoison and Barwater help a lot, Habetrot's Poison Breath can get VERY nasty without them.

That's a mistake most likely. I've seen someone spawn it in the Temple on the second floor by the zone line.
