Historical Information

In French folklore, the Tarasque was a dragon that lived in the Aix La Chapelle regions. It was described as having the head of a lion, the ears of a horse, anywhere from four to six legs, the claws of a bear, a barbed tail, armored scales or a turtle's shell which it shed every seven years, sometimes a pair of wings, and the ability to breathe fire. It was said to be either the offspring of the Leviathian (see Leviathan Prime) and the Bonnacon (see Bonnacon) or the Leviathan and a giant sea serpent known as the Onachus.

This seems like it would be pretty easy to duo with a RDM or THF and a BST. I'm going to have my friend who is a THF solo it while I take care of links, that way he doesn't have to worry about bombs and bats.

Wish me luck. :)

His blaze spikes can be dispelled, they must've changed it in an update or a glitch but I just watched the RDM I duoed Tarasque with dispel his spikes. Even so he's nothing tough to bring down, I just used my bloody bolts to regen HP to counter-act the spikes.

After 12 hours of farming Ash Lizards I finally get the egg. I pop the NM. The fight is going smoothly.
At 5% HP left I cast stoneskin and get aggro from a bomb I didn't see ; ;
I HP'd, when I got back it had despawned..

/sigh *starts killing lizards again* =(

His blaze spikes which can do 35-50 dmg a pop, can NOT be dispelled, it's like the added effect of the war set of gear, which adds blaze spikes, can't be dispelled.

I killed this NM with 2 others; a 74 THF/NIN, a 72 WHM/BLM, and myself, 72 DRK/THF.

This guy really wasn't much tougher than the Ash Lizards, but the main thing to note are his Blaze Spikes. Those hit us for about 30-40 a pop, even with Barfira up. I don't know if they can be dispelled, but I will ASSUME not. Someone else will have to confirm this either way, we didn't have dispel available to us.

Farming for the Rattling Egg to pop him took about an hour and a half, and we just used the tail end of the room as our camp, despite Nightmare bats and the occassional bomb popping there. Unfortunately, there isn't much option.
Annoying

This nm has been a bit of a pain to camp. I have been going on my whm, lvl 75, with my 75 thf friend mesupalittle for about 3 days now. Tarasque pops at the ??? on the bridge between lava on the way to hurricane wyverns and the nm Voire (sp). We camped for one pop got rattling egg, got one skin. Blaze spikes constantly did 40 damage to my thf friend / the nm hit for around 100 when he hit. In about 3 days of camping three or fours hours we've only gotten one egg, and only one skin from the nm. About to give it another shot. Oh yeah the placeholders rate decent > tough at 75, annoying bats (linked with lizard wiped us once) are mostly decent

well everyone camps amemet now and i was wondering how many skins this thing drops. His skins are 300k each and 250k for amemet skins on kujata. Also, whats his spawn? Is a timed, lotto, forced or anything else? And one last thing, how hard is he, he seems like hes is the same as amemet just in a different area.

Hey, this mob drops tarasque skin, the pic is equal as the lizard skin.

I saw a BST was selling it in his bazaar for 350k, (he had 3 skin) and was selling queen bomb core for 10 gil the piece (I bought them...).

I dont know what I can do with the tarasque skin.

Actually in D&D it is spelled with two rs, Tarrasque.

A Tarasque is some sort of dragon from french lore.

The Tarasque was actually a mythological creature. Alot of the DnD stuff comes from that. Blizzard used it as an ultralisk in one of their special campaigns, so it's not like it's DnD exclusive.

I think it's kinda cool that they added it, it's legendary among DnDers for being tough...It's like level 26, the highest level most people go to in the game is 20, and 6 levels in DnD is...tough :)

I'm a fanatic D&D player and in second edition the Tarrasque was the most feared being in the world....
It was level 25+ and enough to scare the **** out of my lvl 21/19/20 Wiz/thf/war (YES three classes).

Unfortunately since 3rd edition i am more afraid of dragons and the like as i killed the Tarrasque with a level 17 pt with ease.... Just a 12Wiz/5archmage, 16 barbarian (me), 18 thf and a 17 bard. Easy as pie.
Elder Dragons are tougher...

BTW Why is the Tarrasque is gimpy little lizard here? It supposed to be at least 40 feet tall....

Indeed. I expcected the Tarrasque to a dragon type mob, not some crappy lizzard. They really need to make new models for some of the more legendary creatures.

I cant believe they introduced a Tarasque.

I bet the D&D vets will be upset when they see it. :(
