I was on my way to get a warp from a friend at Holla and I see the ??? and check it. It was extreamely close to the surface so I figured "what the hell" while I waited on my friend to get there. I fed it some slime oils I had gotten in Ordelles, but it didn't pop. This was around 20:00 game time so I told my friend to hurry up and bring some crap chocobo feathers with him (just cause they're cheap and he was in jeuno.).
The point dissappeared at about 23:20 so I began frantically looking for it. I circled Holla and could not find it, and then I saw someone standing around almost where I had started from. Evidentally it didn't immediatly respawn, because I had already passed that section.
The guy had called out a JugNM (he was 50 Bst). I frantically ran so he didn't get the spawn. I think he had already fed it though. I traded 1 silver coin to it and bam, instantly spawned.
I took a pic of us standing toe-to-toe. By the time I got out of the picture, I was at half life. I am a 60thf and he was hitting me for 100HP each time. I had roughly 970HP, which is max HP with the equip I had on at the time.
I realized it was a losing fight and I hit HIDE, but I was surprised to see this:
"Canyon uses Hide, but is spotted by the Goblin Archeologist." So he has truesight... great.
No sweat, I can flee out and yell at my friend (73whm) to move his *** and get here. I hit flee, but I had used it already when I was running around looking for the point and it still had about 2 mins on the cool down.
Then I died as I was attempting to delay the envitable by using Perfect Dodge. The Bst that had been oh-so-eager for the fight kicked rock faster than I have ever seen before, I mean he cleared the area quick. All I could think about was all the noobs in LT that would get slaughtered by this thing, but the an angel came upon me. My friend was there, I was screaming for him to raise me and go find it quickly. He hit up raise 3, and I hit widescan immediatly. No NM. He had despawned.
I made a lot of mistakes in that period, only because I was confident that I could win the fight. But I had no idea what this thing could have been fed before I came along, and I guess that was the first mistake. Second was rushing into the fight instead of waiting for my friend.
But just to clarify a question posted 2 posts ago, this thing DOES have true sight, so don't expect to use hide and live. I'm sending in a correction.
