Killed CR today with ~15x lvl 75's. Quite a fight, we originally tried with 12, but 10,000 needles spammage took us down. RRed and tried again with an extra 2 WHM's and 2 BLM's, DRK and myself making light, and NIN and SAM making Darkness. Took him down fairly easily.
If you let him spam his TP moves enough, any alliance with wipe. A few good stuns and BLM dmg vs. Melee dmg to minimize mob TP gain is suggested.
Bow did not drop, but I do like my title, very original ^^

My friend and I were killing time in Altepa after levelling our NPCs when I saw Cactrot for the fourth time since we'd gotten there. I tugged on his sleeve and said, "HEY, let's kill it!" He shrugged and said we'd have to link it with another cactaur. Well, since I see this friend as a badass and thought Cactrot would be a regular NM, I begged him to let us try it.
We kited a regular Sabotender around for about five minutes and Cactrot came running up. I slept the Sabotender, looked at my friend's (72NIN) HP bar and my jaw dropped. Then Cactrot one-shotted me and took three bites out of my friend.
Lying in the dirt, I said, "...you don't suppose that was an *H*NM, do you?" He said, "Nah..."
But I've heard several people here call him an HNM, so I need some kind of confirmation. It sure as hell hit me like an HNM. ;3 Is it?

Took this guy out on Friday night with a bunch of friend who were /bst. The title he grants is 'Cactrot Desacelerador', NOT 'Cactrot Deaccelerator'.
I was XP leveling in my pt.We lose a man and decide to go play on surface for a while(we were in caves) .So we start to kill ants and get 30 xp per kill.Then I see a cactuar come running from off screen and aggroed me.pt said zone it so because they were fighting a IT ant ,so i'm omw to nearest zone bout 1 sector away and i see that dustcloud that is behind rapido and he aggros,BOOM 5 hits dead

Just beat this guy with my linkshell "JuponGatana" Almomapelie, Gotex, Alizawei, Striden, (me) illustrious, Mysticzero, Orichalcon, Spartan, Antionett, Stolin "To name some members of Alliance" it does a move similar to 1000 needles, but its 10,000 needles and sprays the whole partty, so we all subbed bst to to have pets absorb some of the needles... bow didnt drop >< Gained title "Cactrot Desacelerador" Cactrot Rapido Status now (PWND)

Well yesturday i'm running around altepa tryin to find rabao 'cause i don't have a map. out of the top left of the screen running across a hill i think i see someone fleeing. so i select them and notice that it's not a PC so i thought, how is a mob fleeing? so i check him "Impossible to gauge" ah that answers my question. but then brings up another... how the hell do you catch this speedster. so now i'm here checkin out posts on him.

I was in Altepa Desert yesterday while heading to a skill up pt, I see him on Wide Scan like usual but want to see how fast I can die so I pull a sabotender to link pull him, his usual cut was at H-8 or so if I remember right, he ran back in front of me about 4 times before linking to the sabotender. Needless to say, it didnt go well, I was a 69RNG/NIN, had no shadows up from the sabotender taking them and he took me down in 3 hits, 260 > 320 > 332 damage. His damage rose every hit, not sure if this is true but maybe he gets stronger on each time he hits you? Ill have to confirm today.
I have found it its a 2 to 3 day spawn. Just incase anyone besides me wants to know lol
I'm after CR for a Arco de Velocidad. I'm 0/2 (got the earring once) on it. Anyways I've got my LS to help camp this HNM until the bow drops. However, yesterday went back to check on it after 24 hours of killing it and it wasnt up =( Can anyone comfirm its spawn time? I'm guessing 36 hours(maybe 72)? Noone ever kills this on our server. Only one Arco de Velocidad has ever sold on AH, so i really need more info on spawn times to get this bow. Send me a PM or reply to post if you got more info on it please

I've seen this guy plenty of times, its always fun to watch him speed by. I'd assume the best way (judging from all I've seen and heard) to fight him is with a large alliance (to divide up the damage dealt from 10k needles) with a good PLD or whoever who can kite a Sabotendar around until Cactrot links.
His drops are good, very good - and the title you get from him is one I'd gladly take over Roc Star or Kirin Captivator... cuz more people know Cactrot and that just would look damn cool if it said right on you that you killed him.
A question though... I always assumed that it was this dude who dropped the Optical Needle (Ammo Slot gear, All Jobs, gives ACC+1... only two have sold on Fenrir for 200k each.) ... so who drops that thing?
EDIT: Wait, I just had a brilliant idea, I'll look up the darn item myself.

Ok, so I'm just fighting a regular Cactuar since, "eh, wth, it's too weak" right? so anyways, I'm fighting a REGULAR Cactuar when I see Rapido pass by. In fear of him linking to this other one I'm figthing, I super jump (I was DRG54 at the time) so he won't link right? WRONG! The fast ******* links with me, just waiting for me to jump back down. When I do, the normal I was fighting unloads his 1000 needles on my wyvern and Rapido instantly unloads his 10000 on me. Anyways, moral is, don't fight cactuar's in Altepa. >:(
My ls buddies were warping from fafnir and we decided to take him on after everyone had /smn or /bst

i typed a whole thing on how to fight him and how aoe is diveded by the pt members where to stand pt setup stoneskin utsusemi = evade exp lvl but i hit reset changes instead of edit msg <.< if you would like detailed info on this HNM msg me @ dans_legit@yahoo.com

i had just finished cape terrigan for zm5 and someone in my ls and his party had just gotten killed by this guy. he wanted revenge and says wanna camp cactrot rapido, i was about to go to sleep but felt like dying for some reason so i go there. we spend 10 mins filling up alliance and he is taunting us running through our camp. we thoroughly proved he cant be binded shadowbinded stuned slept or provoked without a sabotender to link him. well we got him and he used 10,000 needless to say that nearly kille d every member of the alliance. then some other aoe did about 90 damage every once in awhile not sure if what it was. but we beat it. only got cactus stems cactus root and cactus arms no drop on the earring or bow ;_; but got a kickass new title
last night i spotted catrot rapido while ported... It took me at least 30 min to figure out how to catch that *******.
These are the follow tactics:
1. Rapido can outrun chocobo or flee
2. Widescan the ******* and find the cutting point
3. He doesn't aggro and even if you attacked him with ranged or wuteva, it won't stop
4. When I try shadowbinding him, I can't proceed the action. It would just say "You are too far away."
5. You must link attack a random Sabotender and place yourself at the crossing point of his road rage then he will start attacking you

i was fighting Sabotendar as (THF57) and while i was talking with my friend i notice there were 2 cucter (sp? ) i dodge an attack and 0.5 evesion 0.o then gat +400 , 400 , 400 boom K.O

Similar situation 16 ppl a few pets, got him. Lets just say he makes liberal use of his 10k needles. Party took 30k needles before the wipe started.

It says the Sabotendar hits him because the only way to stop this NM is to link it... therefore the chat log says that instead of the NM's name because the other cactuar is wailing on him.
And judging by the damage the normal cactuar is doing, im sure Rapido served Tarvos up something fierce XD.

1) The image is clipped. Unless you want a screenshot were the NM only takes 10% of the screen, that's what people do.
2) He was prolly fighting a Sabotender when the Rapido Linked to him. If that was the case, he prolly died taking this picture. Or he just got a shot of one running by.
3) Why the hell would he waste the time splicing in chat text that has nothing to do with the NM? If he would fabricate anything, it'd be the mob name at the top of the screen.

I just tired to aggro him by resting. After an hour he finally ran by me while resting. Totally ignored me.
I sent a full picture, and someone from allakhazam cut the excess off. The picture taken was right before Cactrot Rapido hit me, which did 400-500 damage against my blm. The link was intentional - notice I had ranger subjob.

Ok you got your 18 person LS alliance thats going to fight him. Then why not have another 18 people from your LS stand around with pets? 10,000/38+ should only be about 100-200 damage. Good thinking Tibbles!
