I thought that bsts could only charm non-sentinient beings?

Thats why we as bsts cant charm orcs, and such?

I swear Squeenix's programmers are on the good crack!

What do you actually expect from gamers! lol

I know beastmasters in dynamis can charm players, goto dynamis and watch all the DDs/tanks, slaughter the mages, in a wierd way it is quite funny.

not sure about standard mobs/beastmen though
help me !!!!

I personally don't think this would work...considering, you lose your pet when you're charmed. Chances are you wouldn't be able to charm anyone else while under the effect since you can't have a pet anyway.
No bind, just lack of control

I was charmed last night while doing EF in Qufim. No, I was not bound...but I also did not seem to attack anyone. It was by the giants, not the goblins.

Of course, we were by the lake at the time and there were three giants and no room to see. All I know is that all of a sudden I couldn't control my character and I seemed to be pulled into the center of the fight. Reminded me of what I read about BCNM with the worms where you get pulled into the center...?

It seems to run just like "Confuse" did in the other FF games. Suddenly I was turning and walking and turning and didn't know why. ^^

If you get charmed with your wyvern out, your wyvern will disappear; much like if you die. I have experienced this first-hand...-.-;; I was charmed, lost my wyvern, couldn't access the menu...pretty much the only thing I could do is type. ><

I did the Expeditionary Force Mission for Qufim the other night and happened to get charmed.

While charmed there is nothing you can do but sit back and watch your PC wreck havok on your team mates, you cannot access your menu or anything of the sort.

I killed our thief and also killed (well it was mostly the gobs handywork) an inocent by stander who came in for a closer look, this person was not in our party or doing a Expeditionary Force Mission so if you see someone doing a EFM stay away because a charmed PC can and will attack you as the gob will aggro you , i know from my own experience.

See this screen, notice the inocent bystander in the bg T_T

After charm wore off my team mates were all dead by then and the gob then turned on me and killed me too -_- we all managed to have a laugh over it and took it as a learning experience to figure out a new strategy.

Yeah lol, it was a funny and interesting experience for all involved (can't speak on behalf of the poor taru though >.>)

So yep, that's what happened from someone who has experienced this first hand and not heard misleading information "from such and such forum" or "from a friend of a friend on some LS"

You don't get bound, you can get charmed for a decent amount of time and you will do the BST's bidding reguardless if it's a party member or an outsider.

that is really funny! I love playing with my BST but I can only imagine the humor in a party member whacking you a good one. I woulda laughed my butt of even if I was the one who got killed.

Sounds sick but I would like to get Charmed just to see how i stack up against some of my party members.

j/k just a thought though.

just like Devileaver said youll just get bound. When a PC beastmaster try to Charm a quadav or a gob it will just be bound for 5 sec(?). Same thing when an enemy beastmaster try to charm you.

Ok, first of all You can't charm beastmen! Plus, Your charmed creature isn't bound; It's under the control of the beastmaster for a limited time. (The time amount depending on the toughness of the beast and the skill of the Beastmaster) So, all that would apply to you if the monster charming you: You are under the control of the charmer and are forced to do what he commands, whatever that might be, (such as attack your allies) For a limited time.(AGAIN: The time amount depending on the toughness of the beast and the skill of the Beastmaster)

not saying the case is teh same reversed, but if you attempt to charm a beastman, they get bound, depending on your CHR. so your first statement is completely off. as for a beastman charming a player, i dont think it should be allowed but it appears that they can charm players.
Old confusion status?

U sure? I keep hearing ppl are charmed and turn on their pt memebers.

I'm wondering if this is like the old confusion status. Where u have no control over ur character and u run around attacking your teammates.

Just a guess but i'm curious, someone whos really been charmed plz post wut its like ^^

If I were to venture a guess, I would imagine that an enemy Beastmaster uses its Charm ability on you, and if it's CHR roll succeeds, you are charmed.

I would guess it's like a movie. You walk around beating up the BST's enemies until there are no more of them, or you die.

I am very intrigued by this "charmed" status, and hopefully I'll find some time to explore it sometime in the near future.

Until then, I can only encourage fellow North American players to explore it to the fullest extent you can, safely.

Oh boi

Well, I was in an EF for bastok and we fought one of these. Our 45MNK got charmed and he owned 1 1/2 of our guys. In other words, 1 died and the other was almost dead ... no joke.
What happends?

Just a question, I'd love to know. What happends if your charmed? does your character run around and does whatever he likes?
You're an idiot.

Since BST can't charm the "sentient" monsters, such as Quads, Gobs, Yagudo, and Orcs, why could Goblins charm US "sentient" beings? It's a load of crap.
that's crap

I agree completely, I think its disgraceful that we can't charm beastmen, but they can charm us.

Just like enemys being able to instantly run up walls to get to your vantage point, and enemys being able to cast spells through walls when you can't even see them (This is true, i was cast on through a wall, then the enemy ran through it and killed me!)

I understand its good to have to overcome adversity, but there are many times when i jus wanna put my foot through the screen because of the ridiculousness of certain things.

The reason enemy BSTs can charm players is:

That's how the game is coded.

Now, to a less obvious answer, the reason you can't charm beastmen is quite frankly, they're very powerful, and have some great abilities, even at lower levels. I myself remember being killed by countless bomb tosses by enemies much lower than me while soloing early on.

Now, why can enemy BSTs charm players? Hell, I think that's the greatest idea ever. Does the party kill their own player? If not, the player will kill them, surely! You've got to defeat them to keep yourself alive. I personally think that PC's getting charmed is the most exciting thing that could happen in the game.

Of course, I'm not experienced enough to know every single event that could possibly happen, but from what this sounds like, I like it a lot.

What happens if you're soloing, now that's the question that's worth being asked.

you can't fight this guy solo, it only spawns during EF, and to the best of my understanding you have to have a pt of 5 for that.....although it would be interesting
