First of all, I'd like to point out that the ??? that spawns this dude is at F-9 under the log bridge that goes over the fence. NOT at E-10 in the camp with the L50-66 orcs. The only way to get to the ??? is by going through the river - enter at J-10 and follow it to D-8 - then go due East once you reach the open Orc encampment.

Once you spawn him, he'll pop up a little ways behind you, near the trees. At least, he did for us.

This freak has a TON of HP for a blm. Our monk cleared the area of linking mobs, gained 300tp, then unleashed Raging Fists on it when we found him. He did roughly 1087 damage (And broke his previous reccord of 947!), which barely took 1/16th of his bar off. It resisted all our attempts at Silence, and took for-fuggin-ever to kill, but we did it, and now our static RDM has a shiney new toy to play with. ;P

WHM/BLM 41

Death first time from lack of experience really - building 300% TP and a 3 person SC with MB will knock about 10% of HP off.

Second time we pulled him further into the corridor so we had no links. Keep silence on him and he also appears to use the same Magic so the bar-spell worked well.

If you can keep Blink up on the NIN with Silence this makes it easier.

Kept Haste on tank and Refresh on WHM and RDM.

Second time we had no 2 hours left and it went much more smoothly.

Keep a couple of juices in case of emergency and just keep whacking away at him.

Yandar, Jayzun and myself are very proud to have completed this on our own with no high level help - and it took no more than 10 minutes.

Probably because we are Dragonz!

Well um...

Thr mob is only level 45, which is akin to a T / VT mob.

Even allowing for NM status, this puts it at IT-.

An RDM would easily be able to keep Silence on it, and I know we certainly did.

btw, I can't prove you rated me down, but I didn't rate you down for suggesting I was lying or anything.

I would love to know how you kept silence on him at your level considering the lvl 68 rdm that helped me repeatedly failed even with full af, capped skills, and enfeebling torque.
Good Fight

Fought this bad boy tonight.
Friend of mine was a Lv. 41 Rdm, going for the sword, and I was a Lv. 51 War.
That was it. Dropped a 300% Avalanche Axe on him to start the fight for 600 and nailed a flawless 2 hour on him with Dual Vikings and Berserk and Aggressor up for over 2,200 damage. Just kept swingin the axes while buddy kept me healed. Felt good to beat the NM with only 2 people instead of an alliance or high level help.

Ran a parser when we whopped him last night for an LS friend's AF1. Looks like he has about 7500 HP.

Was walking through Davoi today when I saw this guy. Hoping for a get rich quick drop, I engaged. Was 60MNK/19RNG for widescan (was farming rams in la thiene earlier). All I have to say is he has a sh*t load of HP for a BLM >_>; I only had 1,200 or so HP engaging, out of 1,493, but I still killed him. He manafonted pretty quickly, and didn't have a lot of MP. I used hundred fists and such, and escaped with 235 HP left o.O Kinda scary and disappointing battle cause of drop, but if I ever get RDM to 40... I'll be ready ^__^

this stupid RDM AF1 NM has TONS AND TONS of health... had a 70 rdm help me out, and she took like 15 min of hacking to kill. My silence stuck first tryand for incredibly long time... although i dont know why, i think the storage key drop is %100 too
won it

Me and another RDM (both 50 with sub BLM) took this guy with no problem. Took for ever though. I did my standard buff up, phalanx, protect 2 (was broke from haste and cure4, couldn't afford pro3) hasted, enblizzard, and broke out my 150 delay Platoon dagger, me and the other RDM took turns with hate so we could heal and convert as needed, don't waste time nuking if you are RDM, they won't really phase him. I tried many many times to silence him, didn't work, with or without seal, so we just healed more, clear out any extra orcs before fight (some popped here and there, but i was doing constant cyclones so it was all cool) As far as spawn time goes, we barely had time to full heal before he popped right on top of us. (we had just started to clear out the orcs that had popped since the last fight) Second fight went pretty much the same, but faster, since we didn't try nuking, just concentrated on keeping haste and enbliz up.

We had to camp this NM for over 1 hour before it popped. And we did kill all the orcs and lizards around that area. It's certainly not trigger pop, none of us even had the rdm AF1 quest activated (I was doing it for my lvl 38 rdm), It just popped randomly, and I got the Storage key after an quick fight. The 65rdm can solo it easily, although we also had 70whm, 60whm, 61war around just for fun.

After I got my key (without activating the AF1 quest), i went around Davoi and found a Storage Hole, traded key to it but it says "You find nothing", althought I didn't lose my key. So you need to have the quest activated before using the key to open Storage hole.

Just finished beating this NM a few days ago for my RDM's AF1... It was quite the fight. I was a lvl 51 rdm, and my friend was a 49 WAR. I must admit, it had me worried for a bit near the end when I ran out of magic, luckily though, the War's 60+ NIN friend came when Purple Flash's HP was about 1/8... Anyways, good luck everyone and happy hunting.

Just soloed this guy as a lv54 rdm/blm, I was helping a ls friend for his sword. The fight was really long, took about 15-20 mins. This orc does hit pretty hard stoneskin came off fast with this guy. but with phalanx, it hits me below 10 most of time, and i just keep regen on, it never really hurt me by meleeing. He missed a lot too. The annoying part is his magic, it does quite a good amount of dmg to me. I just keep using drain, so my hp didn't really go down at all. The beauty about fighting a mob with this much mp is I can aspir all the time. I tried to silence it, but it doesn't stick most of the time, but paralyze and slow stick on him really long tho. My mp did drop below 100 when it has about 40% hp left, so I just stoneskin, blink, convert, cure 4, cure3, drain, then full hp again, lol. Finished the fight with around 700 hp and 300 mp left. It was really fun soloing it, and i would love to do it again anytime :P

As a level 50 rdm I brought along a level 62pld.
The fight was no problem for him. I did cast the usual enfeebs just to speed up the process. There was an orcish brawler and nightrider which con'd as too weak to me. The pld killed the nightrider i guess just for some tp. Then he flashed the NM and there we go. I slept the brawler add. he was asleep for a good 1/2 of the fight. While i was "helping" the pld with the blm, i got a dagger gain and learned cyclone. Then the brawler woke up so i switched targets. I built up my tp to use cyclone cause i wanted to try it. Hit a couple of the lizards around so I was taking on the brawler with lol a level 7 dagger, as well as the lizard adds. No problem at all. I was just meleeing. The brawler and the lizards mustve been pretty far below my level cause they couldnt hit me. This goes to show that this NM can't be hard for a rdm to solo. and if you are hume like myself, and especially if you're a taru, you do not need this weapon anyways. With custom boots, garrison gloves, custom slacks, and if you use apple pies, you don't need the INT boost or the MP boost from this sword. Just take you're time and have some fun and try to solo it. It actually worked out well because by the time i was 50 i had my nest chest key, so i got AF1 and am currently waiting until 12 japan time to get my AF2. I did all of this this evening. Oh one suggestion, if you get high level help from someone other than a blm or rdm, be curtious and either go yourself as a blm40 or bring a blm40 friend to d2 them outta there. I brought a friend. Thanks sancho^

Killed this mob as a 49RDM with my 50SMN linkshell mate. Silence DOES stick, you just have to spam him with it because even if it lands, it won't last very long... if it's not sticking at all then your INT is too low, or this Orc is simply smarter than you are  He did not have the opportunity to use Manafont, or if he did, he was silenced at the time and wasted it. I could not Convert during the fight, because a stray -aga would've killed me. We finally ended the fight, both of us survived with only double digit health and under 25mp each. I'm fairly convinced that if RDM is the solo king as most people say, RDM+SMN is the ultimate pairing for difficult to kill, high-HP mobs. The avatar's party buffs are a godsend.

was crazy easy solo as 62 blm... fought it like a rdm since it has alot of health though... bio, slow, blind, regen... the drain and aspir when they came up and it was all good...

the first fight was a little unexpected and I got a link as well... but even with sleeping the add, I can out with more mp and hp then when I went into the fight lol...

the teir 2 -gas can hurt though, waterga II was doing like 120 dmg to me, but was coming close to 250 dmg when the people I was helping got too close... he can be silenced btw, just don't expect it to last longer then a couple seconds ;)

i fought this NM to help a rdm buddy, Silence wouldnt stick at all. What the real pain was that he used aga II's on me which did about 150 per cast and he got off about 6 or 7 of them b4 he died. I have fought the NM twice and only once has he used the aga II's on me. =/

I took a lvl 42 RDM with me (lvl 59 RDM) to face this guy yesterday. This NM is completely over-rated. Yes, he does have lots and lots of HP (kind of odd coming from a BLM Orc) but that's about the biggest threat.

He went down and the battle was pretty simple it just takes longer than anticipated. That's all there is to it folks!

helped a LS member out who was a 40rdm/20whm
i was a 56war/28nin
rdm snuck and invisibled her way to Brukdok
got there, he was stadning there all by his lonesome
after buffs and a full rest for the rdm, i engaged it
had tp from killing other stuff so i used rampage at the beginning of the fight
took off about 1/10th of his hp, and oddly enough, he decided to use manafont at this time
this is the only time i got nervous, if i could come out at good health after this, it should be no problem
thanks in part to ustsusemi, i did come at fairly well
from here on out, it was smooth sailing
rdm used convert near the end of the battle but still had quite a bit of mp left
finished him off with another rampage
took awhile to kill him, and as stated by others, he does have quite a bit of hp

Assuming you don't get any links you can solo him at lvl 52. Use blm sub just in case... I soloed him as a challenge while the other rdm and drk sat back and watched. They were going to jump in when i needed help, but i never did. Keep slow and paralyze on him. He hits pretty hard for a blm.
Finally got to do this one...

Luckily, through the Server Forums here, I was able to find a RDM 65 (Hume) that was willing to help me out with this guy.

When we got to Davoi we followed the river and got out right at the far west end and went to area (F-9). He cleared out the 3 orcs and 2 lizards (that seems to be the spawn every time) and he showed up within 5 minutes. I didn't have to do anything during the fight aside from staying invisible and not getting aggroed.

While it was a long fight, the other RDM was rarely 50 below his max HP and finished with just under half of his MP. Chances are you will link the other orcs, depending on how quickly you kill him, but he just used Sleepga to keep them at bay.

Some information I was given about him is that he has 3000 HP and unlimited MP. I didn't notice him use Manafont, but I imagine he probably used it at some point during the fight.

As for the Storage Hole, we found it in an area with Geezards are Orcs that were incredibly tough to me at level 41. I would suggest waiting if you don't find it between there and the entrance, unless you want to go through the Monastic Cavern.

Good luck to everyone that tackles this one!
Thanks

I just want to give a big thanks to a good friend "Tarek" 63 RDM on ALEXANDER who helped me get my AF1. He was awesome and I was proud to fight along side him. It was one of the best fights I have been in todate.

It was just the two of us 63 Rdm/blm (hume) and 42 rdm/blm (elvaan). The worst part was trying to stay buffed to avoid the damage. But we managed. I was more of a support person, the 63 rdm could have solo'ed this damn thing. But I enjoyed it.

But for some reference, at 42....the orcs around there Con EP. So you will still get aggro from them. Make sure you have invis. The orcs just past purpleflash (over the wooden bridge and fence) con IT. Beware....thy hit hard. Those IT orcs killed a small group of 4, rdm 48 + and a lvl 54 jobs. So beware. They were spamming Cure IV and they still got slaughtered.

It was a great experience, and I am looking forward to going for the rest of the AF. Just finding people to help is the hardest part.

When I was a lvl 41 rdm I ask a lvl 52 to rdm to help me with this fight. When we got there we cleared the other orcs in the area, then activated this NM, it was probably the longest fight I have ever been in, it seems that the fight took 20-25 mins, and all the time I can't stop laughing, cause after 10 mins or so, his life was not even half way, all I did was cure, refresh, and regen him while he nuke, melee and everything.
my experience ...

When I was level 40 RDM some of my linkshell's static pt decided to take me to get my little sword :p PT:

40/20 RDM/WHM (me in the old days ...)
62/31 RDM/BLM
62/31 PLD/WAR
62/31 WHM/BLM
49/24 WAR/NIN (my bf, who was farming with me at the time)

We had to stick to the waterways with sneak and invis (stuff conned T and even IT to our higher levels there ; ;) We found this guy, killed everyone around him, and then pld pulled.
Fight wasn't hard, but he can hit pretty hard for a mage. At one point our WAR/NIN had to voke off of pally, who was taking an obscene amount of damage from this guy's spells for some reason. Never thought orcs would be smart enough to master the elements :x Anyway, with high level help he's not too hard ... I just kinda sat there pretending to work, doing 1 and 2 damage, occassionally throwing in a cure or two. But it's really the getting to him and clearing the area that's tricky. Just be sure to have a good tank ;)
