Was escorting a level 18 friend in to get the Magicked skull. What a mess this guy made things ><
I came around a corner with my friend, and spotted a dead body on the ground. Oh no, I thought, hurried over and cast Raise.
As I'm casting I see a ghost in front of me. I look up...read the name...to my absolute horror.
"RUN", I said in party tell, "GO SOUTH RUN".
But it was too late; two hits and my friend was dead. Now 150 MP poorer, I took my weapon out, wanting to kill the thing before it killed me.
I'm a level 48 RDM btw, and Elvaan, so being 150MP down was a very bad thing ><
I Dispelled the spikes off him and silenced him, but he was still hitting pretty fair even through Phalanx. Had to sleep him once to Convert.
My friend was furious. "You promised you wouldn't let me die," he said.
"I'm sorry," I replied as I fought this too-close fight. "Do you see how long it's taking me to kill this? I couldn't have saved you. :("
All in all it was about a five or six minute fight. I did win, and got a freaking cotton cloth for my trouble XD

Well I was wandering around gusgen lloking for Blind Moby so I could get the deathbringer sword and wasn't aware of this *&#$%. So I find the ??? and move towards it when I got ambushed by this guy so me (44 rdm/ Nin 19, my solo gear = no shield and flame degen) and well..... Me said @#$@% that hes goin down. So I started buffing up. He's hitten me pretty hard D'oh protect2 and shell2 are wearing off. So I sleep him and continue buffing up. Protect 2 Shell 2 Blink Stoneskin aquaveil and bam he wakes up =/ Not happy now but I continue on and get phalanx enfire when of course yea refresh wore off =( Now being elvaan during all this means mp = 1/3 left get refresh off and finally blaze spikes now I'm set with half my Hp gone =( and hes down to 3/4 Not looking good. So I use up the last of my Mp to cure 3 and I'm ahead now hehehehe. We beat each other silly now. And refresh allowed me to get a few more cure 3's off (long fight). and of course the inevitable happens my buffs that lasted this long start dropping off. O.o hehehehehe the results of the fight ended up being 16 hp and 11 mp left and me above his corpse.
The moral of the fight is sneak doesnt stop bandersnatch aggro when you heal =(

L38? Yeah, I believe that......
I found him on accident while farming for bonecrafting supplies in the mines....remembered reading here he was only L36-38...as I was a L40 mithra monk with what i believe are decent stats {my str, after bonuses and kabob, is 64} so i took a crack at the guy....
Not going to well....I did some damage, keeping about even with him, then he did drain for almost all of his hp back...so I 2houred...and he laughed at me...I died, with him still at 3/4 hp after a 300 point special attack...can't even remember the damn of it right now.... anyone have any ideas on how to beat it? I farm there a lot, and don't want to have to hide in fear everytime he spawns =(

lol, just because he is more powerful then you, and has better abilitys, doesnt mean he is a higher level that you.
if you havent noticed, you need to be at least 10 levels higher then most NM to be able to solo them.
its like camping mee deggi for the kote. sure his level is in the mid 30s. but if you think you can fight him at lv40 solo, and with stand his hundred fists, then you have another think comming
and in general, ghosts dont take much physical damage. ypu need a mage to solo any ghost near our level. or have you never tried to kill an easy prey bogy or boagrt? i know they take me down to under 100 hp, and at lv39 sam i can still solo almost all DC mobs without getting into red HP.

This NM completely slaughtered my party. We were going to do Bastok Rank 3-2. We reached the pond to fight Blind Moby, and suddenly we see a ghost. Well, i figured we could take it on, since we had a lvl 32 and 25 whm. So I engage it bravely, then before my first swing i check it....Strength if impossible to gauge...at that point i freak out and start shouting "ZONE ZONE ZONE!! SOMEONE HELP US!!" 5 minutes and 4 dead PC's later, we were all swearing our heads off, we got our raise and finished the mission, but i'll never go there again. (at least until i'm around lvl 40+(i'm a lvl 23 warrior 11 monk btw))well, just thought i'd share my story with you all.

I was doing the Bastok pugil mission and this ****** spawned. Luckily I saw him and started running instantly, but he got me with a bind and would've killed me if a level 60 PLD hadn't grabbed it :D
rings from all these ghosts are terrible. don't waste your time trying to kill 'em
They great in the BCNMs... especially Malflood since it ups the resist... Only use for them though really.

Killed it as DRK/THF 53/26. Was at full health and he took me down to 400. Not a terrible hard battle, but no drop.
I don't know about him being hard.. Or any of the ghosts in the mines for that matter. But as a Lv 50RDM/25WHM these guys were pwn'd by me =D. Never doubt an Elvaan mage....
this thing creamed me, i used my 2hr at start of battle and this thing basically laughed at it, it only took down 40% of its hp and raging fists barely scratched it, this this is NOT level 38 lol, or its an HNM because it pummeled me with basically no mercy. lost a nice chunk of exp from this thing ><

I killed this NM pretty easily on 53DRG/WAR had lots of HP like his twin, went down in about 4-5 Pentas. I also got a cloth on this one, no ring.

while helping a friend w/ RSE, I decided to look for NMs when the siren sounded. my friend was returning from Jeuno after getting a piece of RSE when I found Schmidt and decided to test my mettle. i was fully healed w/ some TP, so I boost stacked and opened w/ Chi blast. got in a raging fists and then opened up w/ hundred fists.
i finished the fight w/ 12 hp just as my buddy ran into the room. got a cotton cloth and ice crystal.
he did over 1000 dmg to me (i chakraed in the middle)
i would have died if he didn't waste his turns trying to Asp me a few times.

fought this as a lvl 50dk/25 war galka and only lived with 80 hp so be careful!
I have a vendetta against Smothered Schmidt. When doing the Bastok pugil mission, Schmidt spawned, aggroed, and slaughtered me in one hit, while I was fleeing, with a Thunder spell. He then crushed my friend. Just know that I am coming for you!

These are really really hard monsters. all the NM ghost type monsters in gusgen are about the same, when you hear that loud siren sounding noise, that means one is spawning, so run around and check the pools of water. These things have a very large amount of HP. I've killed it myself as a 50Whitemage, but it was a very close fight. and I wouldn't try to solo one again anytime soon.

ok i was helping some noobs look for skulls here the other day as well as helping a friend of mine look for the key and we both needed bloody robes for the quest anyway i happend to run up on this thing i was lvl 36 at the time my friend was about a lvl 32 whm i stood at the begining of the room and called to my friend while i was waiting for him it aggroed me then dissappeared this thing kicked my a$$ for only being 2 levels higher than me i dont care if it was a ghost or not it was doin insane dmg to me

ok i came back for revenge and he dropped a square of cotton cloth im lvl 41 with a lvl 39 rdm it was still a clost fight tho
