Just ran into this NM while doing The Hearts of Mythril quest to try and clean up my quest log a little bit. Got an insect wing and a beehive chip. What a drag.

I used a little thing called the "Auction House". It's 5k. Save the trouble.

well it took me an hour to pop the bastard but i got it 1/1 with 4 stacks of beehive chips and one stack of honey found it on second level just runing back and forth killing bee's

According to wiki, you should be 16 before u are able to solo it. B u l l s h i t. Just soloed her as a 14 RNG. Heck, I could have taken her without using Eagle Eye Shot-- She has the worst Accuracy EVER. She hit me maybe 3 times, while I fed her TP she decided to just kill herself with Final Sting. I ended up with half HP because of that 65 Final Sting. Was an interesting fight. 0/2 lol xD
I camp her when I farm beehive chips because the dagger would add a nice little boost to my AH stash. It's simple. She only spawns on the second level. Kill all the bees on the second level. She'll spawn anywhere from every 1-5 times in my experience. If you're looking to make gil she's a win/win NM. If you go up there to farm and camp her she's, at the very least, guaranteed to drop a beehive chip. Dagger is going for about 5k on Pandemonium.

Been Camping for 3 hours now killed more bees than id like to count i must look retarded running back and forth on this hill....still no pop...jeez
Just an update after 5 hours of camping 8 stacks og Beehive Chips and 3 stacks of Honey...found her 4 times went 0/4....not happy and not gonna try that again for a long time
Another update...went back to farm and try again she was waiting for and dropped right away....1/5....must be my lucky day!

I have been stuck on this mountain looking for the NM. I went to all the spots inside the red-lined circle and killed numerous bees. The NM has yet to show. Does anyone know a more precise area it usually shows up?

finaly found this bee took alot outta me too but i was able to beat her only to get a beehive chip they sell for a good amount so i'm not complaining but i needs that beestinger for my new thief who just reached lvl 7 well off i go to find this bee once again

oh btw for the ppl who have NOT camped her yet the hill has three levels she is on the second level and does not spawn on the third or 1st lvls,i beat her np as a lvl 17THF/RDM combo jut make sure there are no aneating hornets around when u attack her if you are weak cuz then they'll link the hell outta you^^

well i really went to the hill to farm...and i heard about sophie before on a trip to farm...but this time i wanted to also try camping her...first fight...killed her no problem (level 30 mnk with a 15 thf sub (for TH)) only droped bee chip...second fight i killed here again...no problem but i got the dagger :)...in the end after i was done farming i had 6 stacks of chips...2 stacks of honey..and a new dagger :)

I was half lvling my mnk 8, half farming chips, when I see this NM out of the corner of my view, and give it a shot, as I had never heard of her before. I was like 3/4 health and got her down to 3/4 health before she proceeded to beat the @#$% outta me. It was a good effort, but since I had just used 100 fists for double agro it was not ready. From what I see, best she drops is a 10k knife.
I'll have what the gentleman on the floor is having.

Alot of people from Bastok start with Bubbly Burnie. I went for Sophie and enjoyed the spawn time. She spawns quickly and drops commonly. I think my count is up to ten kills now. One time, I killed her, started to rest, and before my hp were back to full, she spawned again. That was a great day for ol' Luth.

Whoo Hoo I finaly (on the 12th attempt) got the beestinger. It's as awsome as I had heard. After playing for less than an hour my dagger skill is already up to 19 from 0!!!!!

ok well i was farming chips today and also searching for her, i was there for at least 1.5 hours and she never showed... there are 3 levels on the hill, the first floor > middle floor > top floor with graveyard which floor is it??
She's on the middle floor. 4 times I found her at the western end of the pop range and 4 times I found her on the eastern end.

Question... do NMs such as our friend Sophie show up as themselves on 'Wide Scan' or as their base monster type?

I absolutaly love this thing. Dagger skill 0. Two hours later I was looking at 93. This is the best way to level your Dagger Skill. Period.

She is popping Regularly on the Beta. Every RT hour I'd say. I am 0/2 on the drop though. For those that are Xbox360 players just starting out.

I see her as war8/thf4, there's a summoner around so we party and try to take it, and fail miserably. Returned by myself as a thf18/war8, attack her. Strangely enough it was only then I noticed how quick she was, but I was a thf with eva up gear and she VERY rarely hit me. Got the drop! ^^ I also killed her once after but got no drop. Still, it's imensly satisfying camping for a while and finally killing it, even without any drop. So i'm 1/2 right now, although I must've seen her a good five times.
PS. Beestinger just peaked at 10k at AH at Bastoklast time I checked.

Actually that's not completely true. If the rare Item is in your Mog house or on your personal inventory then you can not get another drop. The trick is is to mail it to your self. Then it's not on you it's in the mail. Also don't check it. I just found that out. As for the guy who wants to comment on the people whinning about Japenese. I would almost have to agree but at the same time don't you think that typing "u" rather then "you" makes you/us look pretty damn stupid to the japenese who can read english?

i`m hunting her for like 2 hours and i go to the floor right before the top floor and in a gap i see 5 maneaters, i kill 3 and attack the 4th with my weaponm skill and i noticed it did nothing compared to what it did to the others, so i look at the name and find i was attacking stinging Sophie so i kill it and dont get the drop but i got a chip lol, odd thing was before i killed her on the 3rd one i got a gaint stinger from the maneating hornet, something i never got from them

Well, I'm 0/2/3 on the Beestinger, but 2/2 on beehive chip, so at least she helps you farm. The 3 times in spotted Sophie were all on the 2nd lvl of the mountain of course. Twice, she popped immediatly to the right as you come up to the 2nd lvl. The third time, the pop point was 2 large sections around the mountain, 1 section from the 3rd lvl ramp.

I was farming chips today, and some jerk comes by and starts training the hornets, that ticked me off because chips are my primary source of income at my level, so anyway, after watching this puke kill everything profitable for 5 mins, I start to leave to go farm backplates since he doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon. on my way out, I see her, and I'm like 'no way am I gonna let this sh**head get her, so I claim, kill and get the drop, WOOT

I was up there the other day (was sick of waiting for a party in kazham) so decieded to go farm some chips to buy new gear once I reached lv30. As I was gonna be leveling rng I thought I'd try for the beestinger to keep for a while.
Killed Sophie within about 10 mins of getting there, then hunted for another 2 hours before she popped, still no drop, searched for another hour with no sight of her before I had to log.
So I'm assuming this NM has a spawn time of any where from 20 mins to 3 hours

well ive famred bees here for chips a lot these past efw days. and ive been on that mountain for well over 2 hours. almost 3. and many many other times too. so im there a lot. and ive yet to see this nm. and there were times when i was all bymyself on that mountain so nobody could have killed it. and i am a rng so im always scanning aorund to see if i can find her. and i have yet to see her.

In case nobody knows when you go up the hill to the first level of it (not at the base, actually on the hill) you're at a flat level with bees and goblins, etc. You go up ANOTHER level and THAT is where she spawns.
Anyway..The spawn rate must be shorter than most assume. I killed her twice in less than half an hour. Got 2 beehive chips and a pot of honey.

Does she spawn on the mountain or near the mountain?
been farming beehive chips again when sophie popped at 1:30, killed her didn't get drop. So went round the shop to get some food, came back and seen her again at 1:50, 20 minutes later without killing any bees. Killed her again, no drop. Ran round a bit more farming more chips, just over an hour later about 2:30 2:40 she pops again and I got the drop.
Oh and I actually managed to get 2 of these. Had 1 up for sale on AH when I ran into her, killed her and got the drop, so I assumed my beestinger had sold, went back to town and seen that it hadn't. If I already had 1 in my hand and tried to take it off the AH does anyone know what would happen? Didn't want to try it incase it got discarded

Almost decided that she didnt exist. But she finally popped, and I got drop!

Been killing every hornet on the 2nd and 3rd floors for 2 hours. Never seen her so logged out to check here to make sure I'm in the right place, and now I can't get back on. I bet someone kills her while I'm away.
On the plus side, I have got 7 stacks of chips in those 2 hours.

Oh, she pops more than once every night. If you're killing every bee in sight, she'll pop in less than two hours from her last spawn just about without fail.
Well, I made a post a few posts down, and while I still see Sophie a lot, something odd has happened.
In the first five times I killed Sophie, I went 4/5 on the drop. Pretty good, right?
Well, since going 4/5, I've killed her 12 more times for a droprate of... 0/12.

Maybe those changes could help us to not make the same mistakes?
Like, what day, time of day, what were you carrying or wearing, or even what was in your mog house that is anything different from when you first hunted her...if you remember that is?

Is there anything that has changed since the first time you hunted her?
Maybe those changes could help us to not make the same mistakes?
Like, what day, time of day, what were you carrying or wearing, or even what was in your mog house that is anything different from when you first hunted her...if you remember that is?
Also, level difference? Job/sub changes?

From my experience, she spawns every night. I was farming and just mindlessly went after "another bee". When I took the first swing I thoutht "why isn't this bee dead and then why is it so fat? Took a look at the name and I realized, that this mob wasn't a myth.
I decided to stick around and try again. I met her at night very near the same place. But this ranger person intercepted her. Nice experience for my first encounter.

This is my first post but ive been hunting NM for a while and would like to inform you all that Sophie is now more more and more camped. The beestinger thanks to the rising economy can range from 20-30k now. Even though its good to have for a thief until atleast lvl 20. Your not a DD so you dont need anything expensive post 20. So the beestinger is an excellent weapon.
Im farming beechips and have yet to find her but the few times ive been there, there has been a few high level rng in the area, so it shows the rising value of this weapon.

personally, on fairy server, I have never really seen her camped. I will on occasion see a random person with their name anon, but they run through, and are gone after one trip. Not sure what these people are after, but they seem to kill everything, and it's not like they are trying to level, since they do like 70+ damage to anything up there on that hill.
Also, when selling, and checking prices of the beestinger, it's never been that expensive on fairy.
I checked your info, and it says you are on Alexander server...so I'm confused.
Either way, you make more money on selling chips than you can on the beestinger.
Average stacks of chips I amass, is about 4-5.
Each selling for pretty good amount, of 3K.
Then I finally see Sophie, for the drop. The chips are still worth more money.
I am currently 2/5 on Sophie, BTW.

yeah im on fairy too and prices are rediculous..... i mean 1.5mil for ochi kote 3.5 mil for some kote wourse than ochi kote and all this other sh*t this is not the fairy i first came on too i hope they do that server change thing again i want to get on a different server.... >< anyway im gunna be going back to thf soon i think and im gunna need this weapon i think ill camp it seeing as that i only have about 100k atm im very poor (highest job is 35 mnk got it yesterday came on today was told my a thf/nin that i may have to wait DAYS for a pty and quit mnk lol)

Dude, count yourself lucky!! im on hades and hit 42mnk... been camping and farming in king ranperes (sp?) tomb for like 4 days straight getting many drops making quite a bit of cash..
anywayz... Jujitsu Gi = 1mil (just bought it), O-kotes = 3.6mil, Brown belt = 3mil, fuma kyahan = steady at 1.3mil, snipers rings = 1.3mil each!!
