This battle was pretty easy. This thing has only a few weaponskill/TP moves, and doesn't hit very hard. It does have the very annoying tendency to retreat back to its spawn point and regain its hit points. I didn't really catch what people meant when they were saying that on the forums, so to make it clear, if it gets back to its spawn point, it returns to full hit points. Once I realized that, I pulled it farther away and positioned Garuda and myself between it. After that, it was a little meleeing and one good Predator Claws until victory.

Now climbing up the mountain afterwards to complete the mission...that was a bit more difficult...

This guy was the biggest pushover ive ever fought...when I saw lvl 75 and saw 75 WAR/NIN's solod it...i was a bit worried. But owned it as 72WAR/NIN. Didnt even drop below 1k HP. Waste of a RR scroll

I plan on solong this monster this weekend, tomorrow or monday night. As of now I'm a 60smn/whm. I've heard of a drg/rdm and drg/whm soloing at 56+ so I figured I could give it a try, maybe bring a friend if they are bored as well. I just finished the 2-5 battle tonight, I'm expecting this to be much easier. I'll reply back when I get it done, just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Solo this as 75WHM/37NIN. I just pulled it a few steps away from Loose Sand and targeted it, whenever it used any ability or TP it would begin to run back so I just pushed up against it with target on it until I hit it and just pulled it back a bit, and repeat. Dead in about 2 minutes. Thanks for info guys!

First off i know this thing is NOT Lvl 75 as the HP just falls off this guy.

Anyway on w/ the post...
I solo'd as 75 War/nin i called my NPC Buddy "Soothing Healer Type" out just in case... and started hacking away at it.

I tried to Provoke when it would start heading back to its Spawn point to regen it HP but that never worked for me he would just ingore it and return to Spawn point >< .

So anyway he only turns to go back to his Spawn Point after he does the "Sandpit" when you see that /follow him and hope to land a hit that WILL get his attention. so you wanna put enough room between you and his Spawn point by provokeing and backing up while fighting him then when he does Sandpit /follow and hope for the best >.> was super EZ fight btw i should have never been scared to solo as I was Lol.

Hope that clears up a few things and helps someone out.

Soloed this last night as a 63 BST, with no real difficulty. Timed the run from west side of the chasm to the Loose Sand on the east side (6min), then ran back and Familiared a T+++ lizard and brought it back with me. That left 24 minutes to clear the area, buff, pop and kill, but it only took 6 more minutes to do all of that.

Popped Lioumere, and heeled it to the cracks, then started to fight. It tried to run back to the loose sand after its every WS, but my pet chased it down after 2 or 3 steps. Then just heel back to the cracks. Only time it can get back to the sand is if it uses Sandpit, which binds the pet.

This fight is very very BST-friendly. Climbing the mountain afterwards is just annoying (good pictorial guide to that on the Koolaid LS website).

Tore through this beasty as a 75 war/nin the other day. It loses aggro easy when you intially move it away from the loose sands. When it started to move back, provoking worked for me... twice.

I seriously don't know how stupid people spread.

I don't know how 75% of you ended up with the ability to type.

Let's clear up a few RUMORS that stupid people come up with.

Firstly, you don't need to enter the maze at all to find the Loose Sand. It's on the OUTSIDE of the maze at K-8. So don't waste 50 minutes of your time following these idiot's directions. On the OUTSIDE of the maze, head east to the L column, then south til you're at 8 and then head west.

Second rumor, voke does NOT stop him from running back and regenerating.

If he turns, you either stun or bind, but Paladin and NIN are two jobs royally screwed here. You can't solo unless you're a 70+ NIN which is overkill since this is a roughly level 60 mission to beat. SE was very stupid when they made this.

The other rumor that seems to be spreading around is that if you /follow something you can do WS and it won't get interrupted.

This idiot *** rumor needs to stop... How long will it be before you idiots stop trying to bring what tactics you use in Ballista into the regular game mechanics?

/follow DOESNT work for using WS. If you try to set follow to mob to use Flat Blade, he will run out of range and you'll lose 100tp.

You can't beat this mission unless you're 70+ or you have someone with you that can slow or bind.

Yet another way that SE leaves some jobs screwed, while the caster jobs in high demand or high levels still remain needed.

I believe the entire point of doing missions is to do them in a group not solo. So a GROUP of lvl 60 jobs will be able to beat this mob. You don't want be part of a group, then by all means, wait until 70+ and solo it.

SE didn't ***** jobs over. They developed this game to encourage teamwork, not someone going out and beating the crap outta all the mobs by themselves.

just fought this thing as my DRG60/RDM30, took 30mins because I kept messing up and letting it go back to it's spawn when I almost had it dead... but, I beat it solo and that's saying something since all my friends say I suck lol

No way this thing is lv 75..
Completely demolished it as lv 69 BST. All I did was go to the west side of the map where the big baddies roam and grabbed an ant pet from there that conned T to me. Drug it over, popped Lioumere, and chucked the ant at it, and watched this poor NM be beaten to a pulp before it could even scream for it's mommy.

Kill this monster twice tonight (once for myself and then for the leader of our CoP static). The key for a SMN is to initially get the spider as far away as you can from its healing point. I accomplished by:

0) Buff up. Earthen Ward (summoning magic skill @ 269) and Blink from Garuda, as well as P2, S1 (or higher, if you can get it).
1) Popping it and running away.
2) It went to rest at its HP.
3) At the maximum distance for magic I did a Dia II.
4) Running a bit I turned and did Banish II.
5) At his point it was upon me and hitting for 0 points.
6) I called Leviathan and did an assult.
7) I put on slow (resisted) and paralyze (stuck). If /RDM, bind and gravity would also be good at this point.
8) Once the monster seemed to be interested in going back, I did a Spinning Dive. This kept its attention on Leviathan and stopped it from moving back.
9) All this time, I'm also using my staff so I can use Spirit Taker (when ready). I got to use it once each fight for around 138 dmg/MP.
10) The monster started to move back to its healing point but hits from Leviathan stopped it.
11) Second Spinning Dive was all it took and the monster spider died.

I did the first fight with Yag drinks, but none the second time.

If you don't have Spinning Dive yet, Astral Flow should also work.

I didn't get any XP, so it must be below EP for a 73. The level (75) listed in the description is not correct. I suspect it is below level 53.

I fought this thing as a 56 DRG/RDM and was doing totally fine. I couldn't get it to quit going back to the sand though. One time I let it go back and I rested up. It disappeared. Now when I click on the sand pile it just tells me there is nothing interesting. How do I fight this nm again?

Edit: I just logged out and logged back in to fight it again. I fought it 3 times and could have easily beat it if it didn't heal itself. a lvl 75 SAM ended up helping me and we pawned it.

I ran back as far as the rocky area right in front of the Loose Sand.

The information kegsay posted is incorrect. It runs back regarless of WS or not.

The trick is to drag it a somewhat far distance from the Loose Sand. Turn it around so that your back is facing the loose Sand and take of auto-lock by pressing the * button.
Pay close attention to the mob, and as it starts to run back to the Loose Sand run back with it as well.
If done correctly you will be in front of the mob the entire time which will enable you to Hit the mob. Therefore it will stop running towards the Loose Sand. Return it back to a comfortable distance and repeat.

having /drk subed will help incredibly well as you can stun the mob and it will never even get close to the Loose Sands again.

If your like me, I didnt have DRK leveled, so I settled for my Weapon, Stun Weaponskill. Which was Flat Blade. Save your TP for your STUN weaponskill if your weapon has one. use it when it begins to run back and it will stop.

sooed this guy as 67WHM. Wasn't a hard fight at all, however there was one thing that was essential in my win:

IT WILL ONLY RUN BACK TO THE LOOSE SAND AFTER DOING A WS.

I relied on this the whole time after figuring it out, and its never let me down. ^^ ~good luck

Easily soloed as a 75 SMN. Pred Claw with Garuda knocked off over half it's HP. It managed to get back to the loose sand, but a second Pred Claw finished it off before it could recover. Easy easy fight, but that mountain is a pain ><

Knocked this out as 60rdm/nin. Was cake .. Main thing is to slowly pull him far away from Loose Sand and stay in front of him. Bind was the main thing I had to stay focused on. He doenst hit too hard. Skills are weak. But that darn HP Renewal sux if he gets back to Spawn point.

Solo'd Lioumere as a 61 BST/WHM

Strategy:

- Gained TP on both me, 200% for a fungaur familiar.

- Pit Rush gave me 100 damageish. Initiated on him with a good 500 damage, Heeled Lioumere to the cracks.

- With Fungaur on the outerside and me closest to the loose sand. If he tries to head for base, fungaur or you will intercept it. Heel him back to the cracks quickly.

- I use 1 Zeta when fungaur was about 4/5 down.

All in all, he would have taken my funguar to about 50% health. It was a 2 houred funguar.

A friend of mine (Smn 58/ ?) and I (Rdm 47/blm 23) Went for a trudge around the Chasm lastnight, stumbled accross a couple of Pit Antlions (much fun) and headed for the spawn point 'loose sand' for Lioumere..

After the pop the Smn, cast Shiva and dragged him to some rocks a little way away from the loose sand.. Shiva took no time into dropping his HP and I started casting enfeeb spells (bind, blind, slow, paralyze etc.) Then set to work on Gravity and Drain, on the one occasion he started heading for the cracks I hit him with Water II and hate came to me. Easy enough dealt with and no real damage done, thanks to Stoneskin and Phalanx.

It took us less than 5 minutes to kill him, and the only healing magic I had to cast was Regen and Refresh on the Smn.

Soloed it as brd71/whm35. No trouble sleeping it in my solo gear which has very little chr or music skill.

Pull it away from the spawn point, then get between it and the spawn point. Fight unlocked and be ready. The instant it makes a move toward the spawn point, get right after it. When you hit it, it'll turn to you. Repeat from the beginning of this paragraph. Save something big for the end of the fight as it really guns for the spawn point when its HP gets low.

After 45 mins of hoping that he would just not run back to his home so I could kill him as DRG/WHM, I gave up on that plan. In doing so, I found a neat little trick. I disengaged while hate was on my wyvern. He followed me far past the cracks, where I was then able to kill him before he ran back to his hole. =P

He will actually go further out from the cracks. We pulled him about a quarter around the chasm from where he spawns. Me and a 73 Bard did this by the bard wailing on him and me binding the guy every 35 seconds. When he got low enough I busted out Holy, Banishga II and Banish II for the win. Easy fight.

So I was bored after completing 2-5 yesterday and I read up on the 3-3 NMs and I thought I'd give soloing a shot. I head out there as 75PLD/32BLM hoping that Bind and/or Sleep will stick at least a couple times. Well after a couple frustrating battles where bind/sleep would maybe stick half the time with my poor, underlvled blm sub, I decided to try something else.

I pulled him as far from the sand as he'll go (just past where the cracks in the ground start) and I positioned myself between him and the sand. When he made a move towards the Loose Sand, I ran towards him (while engaged/locked). Every time I did this, I got a swing in before he got back and pulled him back out again until he was dead. It might be possible just to engage/lock and autorun towards him the whole battle too, but I didn't try that.

Soloed him last night as Lv 69 BST/WHM, I didn't get any exp so he is not lv 75.

He actually made it back to Loose Sand 3 time before I figured out how to pull him out, I've Full HP and my Lizard had 55% of it's HP at end of fight, I even link other ants around.

First, Sneak pull does not work.
Second, He only aggro throught you, so if you ran too far away and retrieve your pet, he'll simply return to Loose Sand.

I went back and engage him and when my lizard established hate I WALKED up the little while he is hitting my pet, when I finally made it to the hill I sic my pet and engage him, he'll try to run back to Loose Sand after few hits but since BST pet can hit while running, he'll stop and re-engage, he was dead after try to return back to Loose sand the second time.

killed this last night with another BST buddy. i'm lvl66 and he's lvl61. grabbed an EM lizard from the tiamet side of the zone while he grabbed a EM scorpion.

needless to say, the lizard tore through the NM, so thus, the NM is not lvl75 since i didn't get any EXP from it. our first strategy was to have both pets on him while we melee, but the NM kept running back to the "HP" we had to change that up. i kept my lizard on him and kept pulling him back, while my BST buddy used charm bind. worked perfectly.

my guess, lvl50-55ish due to lizard tearing him up. the lizard had about 60-80% HP left over.

75 blm/whm solo this quite easy. First time didnt pull it in a clear zone so use all mp (you'll need 5-6 nukes from IV spells to beat it and some bind stun sleep, yes he's sleepable very easy) and he go back to hp at like less then 10% HP XD.
So I teleport out and decided to come back. this time I pull it in a clear area, nuke it to near death, sleep him to prevent him to run back then Flare he's *** =D

Not really a prob. He hit me for not much and if stoneskin wear off just sleep him and recast and re-nuke. Easy fight at 75 for blm/whm.

Tend to go back to camp when he's low HP. So try to stun then bind him or sleep him. Easy fight.

The NM is not lv75. He fights like a lv50-55 monster, if that, though he does have a lot of HP. You'll have a harder time killing the big Tracer Antlions on the other side of Attowah.

Major feature, as noted by the thread, is that the enemy will regain full health if he manages to walk back to his nest. Best procedure for fighting is to spawn him, pull him east and maybe a little south, then have Rangers, mages, anyone with Bind stand between him and the Loose Sand.

When he takes off for home, use Bind or Shadowbind. Shred him. His defense is not spectacular.

I haven't had time to fully map out a way to the top of the Torr. I can do it if I'm there. If anyone on Asura needs help getting to the top or would just like to see the top send me a /tell.

Here's basically what I do: Enter the Torr either from the south side or the east side. Work my way counter clockwise around the Torr. The goal is to get to the Western side. Once on the Western side you can easily get to the top.

Be glad you have 30 mins to and hour for this one. There is an Illuminant random spawn on the map neear the Torr. When examined it becomes a key item that lasts approximately 10 mins. The descrption talks about the stone pointing towards the top of the Tor. Granted I don't have Flee, but even then it'd be really close.

I have some jp friends and we started the post promyvion missions and this "part" of this one sucked. Pt set up for this nm was 74 whm, 74 rdm, and me 62 War. We tried unsuccessfully for like 4 times until Rdm use chainspell, whm used hexa strike and i finished it with a rampage. In japan there's already a book out for CoP and he was reading info straight from the book. The nm will regain full life once back at it's spawn point, oh and btw whoever touches the loose dirt will have get a suprise, the antlion jumps up from the dirt and uses a special attack but i cant recall the name of it. It did 247 dmg to me. I'm guessing his lvl range to be around 50-60. After getting the key item, it's a big pain to go up the mountain because you can fall down and have to start over. The key item you obtain will last for only 30-60 mins hour and then it will dissapear.

Well, as I think someone said... This is a mission NM for CoP.

When CoP hit the US me and my buddy were cutting through Antlions with the quickness here... Just having fun. I was a 42THF/NIN at the time and he was still a 36RDM/NIN. We got really lost trying to find an exit and stumbled across a 75PLD TRYING to solo this lol. The NM kept regening hp cause(what we guessed at the time) it was over its "home". All of a sudden the PLD hits 2hr and insta warps... >.<

About 2 seconds later me and my buddy are chatting about this guy and writting down the location of name of it when in runs a 75RDM/BLM. Phalanx up! Stoneskin up! And he then proceeds to gravity it. As soon as it turned around Gravity again and then he ran a little farther away. Took him a good 5 min. I'ld say to kill this, but he did. Pretty cool fight to watch too.

Killed this thing tonight... was a lot of fun.

Walkin through Attohwa exploring as 57 BST with my friend, also 57 BST. We come upon a 75 rdm fighting this and laugh at him for a while, then we invite him and fight along side for a bit. Caught on pretty quick that it was gonna take some major binding to keep it far enough from its home to die, so we attacked it and ran pretty far from the hole, and whenever it tried to go back, I used Charm on it, binding it and refreshing the aggro. Since charm has a 10 second recast, I was able to do this every time it turned its back to run.

A few rampages and a Swift Blade later, we are victorious. No drop (sorry for all you "wonder-what-it-drops-ers") which was to be expected since it is a Mission NM, or so the JP rdm told us.

So when the time comes to kill this thing, do yourself a favor and bring a BST along. Happy hunting.

This monster is killed during Chapter 3 of Chains of Promathia. You need to spawn it by clicking on a spot of Loose Sand at (K-8). It's for a part of the CoP missions where you must get a jewel from the Loose Sand, then take it to another area in the zone within a half hour.

Im no expert at this kinda stuff, but my theory is that maybe you gotta lead it away from the sand, and maybe Bind it there so it cant go back?

I saw it do the exact same thing with the HP when I took this shot... I wasnt paying 100% attention, though I never did see if use any abilities... I thought possibly the JPs that were taking it down were disengaging on purpose to gather information on the beast, but now I know he's just a *******...

I was running around Attowah Chasm one day, and I came across a level 75 warrior attempting to kill this NM. He would pull it, get off some good hits, maybe to 50% hp, and then the thing would go back to its spawn point and get full HP back. I went up to it as my level 40 smn while the war was resting and, contrary to what I thought was gonna happen, completely failed to get aggroed.

My theory is the thing is popped when someone touches the loose sand, and that the trick to killing it is to do enough damage quickly enough because if it loses interest and gets back to its spawnpoint, it will regen to full HP instantly. It has some sort of AoE blind move that was rather annoying.

I wonder what it drops.

Okay, this thing if FRICKEN INSANE. I saw two white mages probably in the mid 60's and a Ranger about the same taking this thing on. Seemed like niether WHM had Hexa Strike, or at least they didn't use it...keep in mind everything around here conned Too Weak to me at 71...it was spawned on top of some "Loose Sand," so I guess its triggered. But what is insane about it you ask?

Well, these guys were doing a 3-way skillchain every now and then. First they did this, with the RNG doing slugshot, both WHMs did weapon skills, then the RNG barrages and slug shots AGAIN. Takes this thing to about 25% HP. Few seconds later its at 60%. Then all of the sudden it jumps back to FULL HP. This is repeating over and over with the white mages taking turns resting. I asked if they needed help, but they said they were calling in LS reinforcements...

Anyway, this guy was doing this OVER AND OVER again, kept going all the way back to full HP somehow. No, it wasn't using Benediction, any high level player can tell you about the traditional "dirt swirl" that appears around a mob when they use a 2-hour ability. No such thing happened with this NM, it didn't use ANY ability at all, it was just suddenly at full again. It wasn't lag because I watched it happen multiple times. No idea wtf is up with this thing, but it's fricken insane.
