Stoneskin Helps!

Stoneskin works wonders against the poison... But don't use all your MP on other things if you're going to go without WHM or antidotes. I'm 64RDM/15THF and these are really really easy to me. Of course, they're waaay lower than me in level too. >.>b
my NPC doesnt like these ; ;

Don't let these things scare ya, you can solo them as a BLU at lvl 40 if you come prepared.

I went as a 40 BLU/WHM. Went with 5 yag drinks, 5 hi potions, and 5 hi ethers. Used my NPC in the first fight, but she died quick. I was able to solo 3 of them before I ran out of meds and drinks.

Go in and use Dia and Poisen Breath to slow its auto regen. Keep a yag drink on, and down an ether every now and then. Just try to pace the meds so you can take a few. Try to poisona yerself whenever ya can, since this is the main way you'll take damage.

I made a Jet Stream then Bludgeon Macro which I hit every time it raised its shell. Jet Stream always did about 200 dmg, and sometimes Bludgeon would land for 100+ before it dropped its shell again. Then when ya get TP, his Chain Affinity and do a Red Lotus Blade + Jet Stream Fusion SC when it raises its shell. Did a good 300 dmg doing this.

As I said, I was able to kill 3 before I ran out of all my meds. But, despite the fact they SPAM Venom Shell, I didnt learn it ; ; Don't wanna pump any more money into meds, so ***** it, I'll just have a high lvl friend help :P

These are great farming if you know exactly how to fight these things. I go as my SAM75/THF37, use my lance, and pile on +attack. At 75 with capped polearm, my hits just about exactly counter their regen, so they'll actually pretty much stay at the same HP for a while until they pop their head out. I bring about 5 stacks of antidotes and am able to stay out their farming for hours. The poison rarely sticks, 90% of the time it is evaded. When their out of their shell, whether they pop out during the fight or are out of it by default before you fight, a single Penta Thrust will sometimes flat out kill them, and other times bring them to at least 25%, when at 100% HP. Shells are currently going for 15k on Ramuh, and are never farmed.

Oh, and has anyone tried Piercing Arrow or One Inch Punch, or something of the sort on these things while in their shell?

BLU41 soloed them for Venom Shell, but not easy…
Bought 2 stacks of antidotes(cheap) and enough ingredients for 8 yag drings (used all but one) and Rolanberry Pie

The key was mana, the first time I attempted these I just plain ran out of mana. So I equipped Metallic Body and Mysterious Light for Job trait Max MP Up.

After that I equipped Bludgeon, Jet Stream, (only damaged spells used) and filled the rest of the slots with magic that gave +MP.

As BLU41/WHM with a rolanberry Pie I had over 400 Mana.

Alwasys kept a Yag drink active.

When its out of its shell, quickly cast Jet Stream.

When its in it shell, occasionally cast Bludgeon, just to counteract its mega HP Regen.

When it poisens you (does it a lot) use antidote, not your mana.

Fights are hard and long, I ran out of mana each time, but it is possible.

Went 1/2 on learning the spell.

Ack never fight these things without a WHM. Me RDM/BLM, a WAR/NIN and a MNK/THF all lvl 35 went here to look around so we got there and the WAR said hey these Urganites are DC...so we thought...Hey easy lets give it a beat down for the hell of it...We failed to realize that they could poisonga us. Well I used Chainspell to put a regen on us and cast mass cures and the poison was just to strong. I died first, then the WAR, then the MNK...it was hilarious none the less, but I advise a WHM next time anyone go there.

In mid 60's, I used to farm these quite a bit (thf/nin), together with a bst66/whm33. We would spend around 2 to 3 hours collecting the U shells, was nice money except that the shells sold fairly slowly. The thf/nin evades most of the damage and poison, the bst/whm uses clots, opo-opo's and the occasional jug pet, and just cures poison when it finally hits, and just enough hits to get in a SC every once in a while with me. Farming is always more fun if you have a partner, especially one that can heal the rather powerful poison when you do finally get it.
I shouldn't give this away.

Easily soloable as a farm monster by lvl 40 bst; probably a lvl 38 bst.

1) charm Urganite 'A'.
2) sick it on Urganite 'B'.
3) 'A', your pet will quickly LOSE the battle and be VERY VERY poisoned.
4) when 'A' is at 20% health, lower if your coordination is better than mine, Uncharm 'A'
5) Charm 'B'
6) Sick 'B' onto 'A'.
You will never get expi. You will get loot.

do NOT get anywhere near the battle.
About theese things

These guys is extreamly easy to fight if you have a good WS that can deal about 800+ damage as for my own experience Rampage and Vorpal Blade can.

You just build up TP and when you got enough just wait till it get out of the protective shell and bam them with WS. This kill and it's a fast way to farm them.

These guys seem to have around 1000HP that is low but it has high defence when hiding in shell and also regen about 20HP pr tick and you will maybe hit it for 30 as WAR 62 (normally 100 when it's out) so it really depends on your WS to finish it off when it's out of it's shell.

Remember to bring Antidote or buy them from NPC Mithra on Purgonorgo Isle for about 600 each (haha quite funny price is way to expensive compared to other NPC that sell it)

I had looked through this page before, and I had seen all of the stories about this Mob, but I did'nt think it was all that strong.

I was wrong. First two combined hits took 130 off of its life, and that barely made a dent. I had my Npc with me, so I thought it would be an easy fight. Lasted for about 5 minutes all together. Npc died of poison half way through, and the poison/paralyze was starting to take me down by a bit.

I ended up with 56hp left after the fight. Luckily Chakra was'nt blocked by the paralyze, or I would have died. Not going to be fighting anymore of these things for awhile...
Uragnite = /em new lil farming buddy =)

OMG, was in a Bibiki Bay skill up PT and disbanded. Saw this big *** boat and was like o-well, what the hell, and get dropped off in Purgonorgo. What do I see @.@?!? mister Coralline. Scan comes back as “Not Worth While” so I hit the f’er in the head with a boomerang, and the next 5-8 mins goes something like this 2dmg 5dmg 2dmg 4dmg 0dmg 210dmg 0dmg ect….. so now I’m like WTF. How do I kill this thing??

Well once you know the trick, it’s a piece of cake. These lil things will go under there shell. When they do this don’t use your WS. When there under their shell, their DEF is super high. Instead just keep whacking them, building up your TP, and when their face pops out……Bam!?!? Let’em have it. The drop is slow. Like farming silk but a single Uragnite Shell is worth 33-35k (Hades).

PS.
Bring some antidotes. If these guys hit you with their poison it last for a loooooooong time and dose about 25-60dmg per tick. I personally use my THF / NIN and duel “Bloody Blades” but every now and then I have to use an antidote.

Arrived at the island as 37 BST and decided to check these out before logging out on the dock. I selected a DC, charmed it no problem, and set it on an EP. The EP won. I followed it with another DC, then an EP, then 3 more DCs after that. The original EP was not only still alive, it was at about 75% hp!!

I finally gave up this foolish game, charmed the EP and released it. I didn't have any problems with the poison, I didn't get close enough, and in any case had whm subbed.

As a final test, I charmed an EP snail and set it on a DC pug - the snail won, hands down. In short, don't even think about exping off these things, but in the event of an urgent pet, they are certainly tough enough to give you some breathing space. They all conned either EP or DC to me.

Hope that helps someone ^^

After spending all of my money on clamming, I decided to try to fight one of these by the docks.
(BLM51/WHM25) Cast Freeze on it and was almost dead. Only real problem after that was that i timed my spells wrong, so it was always in its shell and i ran out of mp quickly, and ended up having to use manafont.
This mob really isnt that hard for blm/whm, i was only poisoned the second time i tried one and i didnt even notice till afterwards, poisana took care of that. As long as you can keep hitting it at a distance with spells (iused freeze/aero2/blizzard2/thunder2) its no problem.

Didn't get any drops, unfortunately except a seashell.

I used to farm this thing alot, super easy if you have a high lvl job. Rng slug outright kill this mob. Also my war always one shot it with SA+RR.. Built TP on one more, release it on the other mob ^^. Poison rarely stick on me if your job is high.

Rough time with Poison eh?
# Jun 03 2005 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
Well if your having that much trouble with it, why not Barpoisona and Barwatera yourself to make it less likely to stick? I will say though, these things are tough cookies! Not really sure what a good way of killing these is but as Beastmaster, I just let my pet wack at it for a while... a long while... long enough to pull out 2 Sic's... I wouldn't recommend xp'in off these. Also, my friend is also a Beastmaster at level 37. If I recall correctly, he said these were Even match and Tough to him, meaning its around levels 37-39.

Barpoison only works if someone casts the SPELL "Poison", "Poison II", or "Poisonga" on you.

barpoison works for anything that gives poison effect and barwater helps also. barpoison on reduces the duration/land doesn't negate the effect totally unless u have high enough resistance.

Dispel no longer cancels regen
# Feb 25 2005 at 4:09 AM Rating: Decent
The Feb. 23rd update changed the Uragnite family as follows: you can no longer dispel the Regen effeect the creature gains while inside its shell. A source of major consternation to me as i logged in to continue farming them and subsequently had to warp out because of the change. Nice of them to tell me this >.<
